Good one. I'm particularly impressed with the Lawal immortalization by a PDP government he fought.

Tgirl4real: Na wa o. What is it with all the hidden posts everywhere angry
It's good you're not seeing them pls. I just viewed everything with my mod lens and chei, if they were not hidden, this debate podium may be hotter than House of Assembly ground on a money-sharing day.

Judge Jarus takes his pen and pad, sets his glasses, a glass of water, takes a seat on the high table, waiting for the organizer to kick-start the programme and the debaters to file out. cheesy

Are all the attendees now ok with Ajah? Or VI?

If majority of those that have confirmed their attendance are ok with Ajah, then the following are fixed:

Date: Sunday, July 29 (Ramadan 9/10)
Venue: Jarus' Place, Langbasa, Ajah, Lagos(detailed decsription later)
Programme
5-5.30: Convergence, Arrival
5.30-6: Introduction, meeting one another
6-6.20: Lecture
6.20-6.40: Sermon
6:40-7: General discussion
7-7.10: Breaking of fast with fruits, drinks etc
7.10-7.20: Moghrib
7:20-8: Main menu, with gisting/discussions going underground
8:8.30: Isha-Taraweeh

People going to long distance may take their leave after food before Isha

Meanwhile, what topic are we choosing for lecture?
I have suggested:
1, Boko Haram and the rest of us
Or
2, Muslims and the New Media: Between streotype and Reality

And who will deliver the lecture?

cheesy grin
But the month never reach na. So still under.
Abeg make I enjoy yhe remaining few days as under-30 jare
Off-topic: I just like that 20's age bracket. When you cross that line, then you are no longer seen as a young man, you can't do some things and get away with them again unlike when still below. You watch too many things.

dayokanu: Debosky and Ajanlekoko

Harakiri and pro01 and richvkunt

Tpia and kobojunkie (they can kill you with their unique brand of argument)

Ileke-idi and desola

Ibime and elguapo

oyb and Gbawe

wesley80 and werepeleri
Yeah, I agree with Desola and Ileke pairing.

nitrogen: Going by the bolded, then the list of debaters is incomplete because there is no one from the career section.
This is a political topic and debaters should ordinarily be chosen from Politics section. We will have a career debate some other time.

@OP,
I'm in for this. I will also like to be on the panel of judges.

I suggest the debaters be pruned down to 3-a-side and a panel of 5 judges(odd no, so there won't be tie). I don't think Beaf and Gbawe need to be there. Both are too partisan, and form the default line for the 2 opposing camps in Nairaland Political section, and their team of supporters from Politics section will natrally queue behind them, making the debate rowdy.Sagamite has also opted out.

I suggest 4 active persons in political section and 2 politically not-so-active Nairalanders to add some fresh touch to it(apart from the predictable regular political debaters).

Rules should also be set for Judges too. Their judgment should not be based on the opinion they personally hold of the topic but what side(purely from the arguments presented by both parties) is more convincing.

davidylan: how were the "debaters" selected?
I quite agree with chrisbenegor's thoughts... there are far too many people on that list and to be honest... 190, mrbrownjay, maclatunji? shocked What next? Clowns debating the Italian economic depression?

Trim the list down to the 5-6 most prominent posters on the politics section... me i would go with Sagamite, Coogar, Beaf, Gbawe and Debosky. Serious, intelligent dudes who can make this debate a really fun experience. Having clowns like 190 arguing for or against a serious political topic is a joke.
I remember the Bolekaja debate me and you had in 2009 on Sanusi, when I dragged you out of a thread to a fresh thread.
Enlightening.

Recently, in an event 3 of them were present, Obj, in his comical self, called out Buhari and IBB and hugged them.

mrjimmy: hello all. B.A, AAT.
I'm currently studying for my pe 1 exams. however, the failure rate in the past exam scares me a bit. I would appreciate materials that will aid my passing.
also, I heard that one needs to have work experience to pass pe exams. I don't have such, though I did my ATS without any reference. do I need to garner experience beforehand, or am I grounded enough?
Don't be scared. If you can pass ATS without failing a paper, you can pass professional levels too. Work experience clearly makes it easier to pass, but the irony is students have more higher pass rate than workers and prize winners are usually students, principally because you have more time to study and you've got less things to think about unlike a worker. I know people that qualified far back our 200 level days in the university and they were not even studying Accounting.

Walk into ICAN bookshop at Idowu Taylor, VI and buy materials or from any iCAN centre.
Islam › Re: Nairalanders Iftaar - Season 7 by Jarus(op): 9:19pm On Jul 17, 2012
Ajah to VI is actually 20 minutes drive on a Sunday. So it's not that different from hosting in VI. Moreover, the brothers that will be driving can drop those not driving on the way back to mainland.

All past editions were held in restaurants, let's have some homely touch this time. Mainland brothers should strongly consider this.

If however majority still feel it is too far, then we can settle for VI again.

Radio paparazzi has actually brought a fresh touch to sports presenting. He is a bag of humour, highly entertaining. Brila is still it for me.

Poles apart. Info fm is a poor man's version of Brila.

They struggle with English language
Their analysts are not deep enough. I remember one gaffe committed by one of their presenters. Can't remember exactly, but I, an average football follower, knew the guy was wrong. And it's a simple football fact.
They don't have class

RuuDie: The type of setting or organization hosting the event and the venue also matters. A gathering of I.T geeks, media + entertainment or sports folks probably won't require being all formally clothed. A formal event on a rig, construction site or offshore location definitely doesn't require formal attire. Financial sector, most often than not, you'd have to be formally decked. . .et al.

Bottomline, especially for an "upstart" looking to make the right impression, its best you dress as the occasion or location demands, this means getting to know a little about where you are going and what is expected of you.

Then again, as long as your dress code at the time won't have significant bearing or any adverse, long-term negative effects on your person or whatever it is you are doing where you go, then you can dress anyhow you like to just about anywhere you want. But courtesy at least demands that you look very neat and attractive to the eye.
Me, for instance, haven't had a cause to wear a suit now for about 6-8 years and counting.
This summarizes it.
