ckkris: No wonder PDP wins always. If these NL e-warriors could face AK47 during elections, and protect good candidates like Funsho Williams. If anyone here had vied to be Councillor ,and resist sharing of Local Govt allocations, and survived. Oh Nairaland Republic of Cyberspace, no bullets, no machetes, no kidnap. Only Jona will arrest IBB, probe Buhari's 2.8 billion NNPC money, and recover trillions of subsidy money from Otedollar,Tinubu, Folawiyo, Dantata, Dangote, Andy Uba, and many more dangerous like Bar Jimo, owner of Air Nigeria, they're too many in Ogboni, Freemason, and other secret societies. Are these nairalanders Nigerians? When they will instigate soldiers, like Abiola did, to overthrow the govt, NL e-warriors can do nothing. General Adekampe just tried, to use standard Commonwealth Military exam, to reduce the stranglehold of the born to rule over the Armed Forces, where only them qualified to be generals, only by birth. They courageously advertised in The Nation Newspaper, that they will make Nigeria uninternable. Naive e-warriors don't see how born to rule has systemically destroyed everything, to ensure that no one is able, by position, or by wealth like Abiola, to even question them, let alone dislodge them. They used the military to create enough local govts to ensure they control national assembly, and take most of Feederal Revenues. Lagos has 20 seats, how many has Kano? Do these NL e-warriors live in Nigeria? Or are they safe somewhere, waiting for who to change things, fast. But things are really changing, and must change democratically, legally. Jona is working very hard, and FDF will definitely win 2015.

Far far far off!

blame not the northern elders; they don't control the machinery of government, they dont control security votes, they dont have the political and intelligence, police and military/fire power. the government of nigeria has all, i mean ALL, what it takes to stop this senseless act within the shortest time possible. if the present administration can not do it, then another may do it, if the country endures.

while not defending the northern elders or leaders on this bh issues, i must admit that they are helpless to the extent that there is a limit to what they can do - now mostly advice, sermonization, persuasion, coercion - which is not in the dictionary of bh.

they have tangled themselves and boxed themselves to this tight uncomfortable corner that indeed they are being consumed by the works of their hands; while government is pretending all the way.

i am beginning to suspect that government (GEJ & co) is deliberately wishy-washying on this issue in order to 'deal' with (punish) the north (parasites), not minding the consequences on innocent nigerians (who do not matter anyway) and the nation (in which they are not interested).
PoliticsRe: GEJ Seeks Senate Approval To Rename UNILAG And 2 Other Federal Universities. by jaybee(f): 1:22pm On Jun 07, 2012
pdozie: My take is that the reason there is uproar wrt to renaming the university to MAULAG is, may be, because citizens are frustrated. Frustrated that they are not seeing the dividends of democracy promised by FG.
If not, what is there in the change of name? The substance and quality of the university is not changed.
GEJ announced the name change and everyone cries out saying he didnt follow the right process. GEJ now passes through the due process yet the outry continues. What else do we want?
As far as am concerned, announcing the name change was not out of order. If the ministry of education had begun implementation of the name change immediately then you can say GEJ didnt follow the process.
i think we should save our breath and focus on more weighty issues. If FG decides to rename the university to MAULAG so be it!!! It doesnt remove garri from your table or dies it?
this is the kind of simplistic reasoning that has brought nigeria to this comatose state. THE NAME CHANGE OF UNILAG is much more than what you may imagine. on just one point: what reason do anyone on earth give for destroying what was built in more than fifty years? whether it is a road, institution, brand, house, family, kingdom, etc without the buy-in of those affected?
PoliticsRe: GEJ Seeks Senate Approval To Rename UNILAG And 2 Other Federal Universities. by jaybee(f): 1:16pm On Jun 07, 2012
KwoiZabo: How will students enter a contract with the Federal govt. through their universities while gaining admission that they will graduate with a particular name on their certificates and halfway the name is changed. This is a clear breach of contract that must be resisted.
That is the simplest thing to resolve; all those admitted prior to name change would graduate with certificates bearing the former name. thereafter, the new name may reflect in the new intakes.

but the case of UNILAG/MAULAG?? totally stands ALL logic on its head!!!

Kobojunkie: Dude, stop!

I hate it when people refuse to think things through before posting.

The primary role of the Vice President, be it of a country or a Company, is to be ready to take control should the President become incapacitated, die, or resign. That is what a VP's primary role. Anyone who goes to that seat without ever thinking he/she could be president, better be an slowpoke of the highest level.

The senate President's seat comes next.

And people who believe that a person can make the decision to run for the post of VP of a country, without ever wondering what if he/she is called to become Acting President or President, are loonies.

We have all seen several times here in America, where capable candidates have lost the election on grounds that their choice of a VP was not competent enough. If you do not understand why the rejection, you probably need to research why McCain lost the last election to Obama.

Thank you!
sorry kobo, you are taking this too far. i guess you are looking at an ideal arrangement, which in nigeria is just imaginary. wake up and face reality! this guy, gej, is still trying to reconcile himself with the position of president, which some of us believe he never imagined. that is why most times he forgets he is president. in this context, gej is very right; in an ideal democratic setting, i also doubt if he can be president of nigeria. every one knows how he came to power. even when he is convinced and constrained to act in official capacity as president, his body, mind and spirit behaves otherwise. this is nigerian politics.

you cant compare it with other democracies where there is succession planning and ascendancy.

remember yaradua, even when he felt he could no longer go on as president he did not give up the position; he wanted, the position as much as his health. in other climes late president yaradua would have relinquished power to take care of his health. recall the great Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz of cuba, when his health was failing, he gave up the leadership to take care of his health.

I'm not in the aviation industry; i doubt she is 'the best aviation minister we've ever seen', she may be the gra-gra attention-seeking type. sha may be doing some superficial renovations and awarding contracts, but all these hurried infrastructural upgrade appears to be lacking in design and depth. moreover, the critical element of safety in aviation is glaringly becoming worse during her administration, considering the colossal amount of money invested in safety infrastructure in recent times, using tax payers money. also consider the arbitrary taxes and levies that are killing the operators of airlines in nigeria. that is why Nigeria has one of the costliest air fares around the globe. what are all these aviation agencies doing with the huge revenues they collect at the airports under her watch? not a fraction gets to the federation account as required by law; they squander the money and she is the major shareholder in that regard.

she is not better than any of her predecessors!

LocalChamp: Christian Militants In Southern Kaduna Threaten Fulani Herdsmen, Give Seven Days Evacuation Notice
Posted: June 5, 2012 - 03:28
Posted by siteadmin
By Saharareporters, New York
A militant Christian sect that first emerged last year in Christian-dominated Southern Kaduna again, today threatened to chase out Fulani herdsmen if they do not leave the area in the next seven days.

The group, known as AKHWAT AKWOP, said in an email to SaharaReporters through their spokesman, Bukarma Leguma, that it has “watched with disgust the unrelenting murders and killing of peaceful, innocent, and hardworking people by wandering bands of Fulani terrorist gunmen operating in southern Kaduna,” and urged the herdsmen to leave the area.

“AKHWAT AKWOP is also aware that the ultimate aim of the Fulani terrorist is to create a situation of insecurity in southern Kaduna whereby our people will not be able to utilize this farming season thereby leading to hunger, deprivation and famine in the land,” the statement said.
It warned that after the seven days of grace, which expires on June 10, AKHWAT AKWOP will declare “open season” on any Fulani found within their lands.

[Full text of the statement]:
Below is the full statement:

[b]Greetings in the name of our lord and savior Jesus Christ.

AKHWAT AKWOP has watched with disgust the unrelenting murders and killing of our peaceful, innocent, and hardworking people by wandering bands of Fulani terrorist gunmen operating in southern Kaduna.

Between January and June 2012, the Fulani terrorist have murdered over 100 innocent southern Kaduna people, the recent one at zonkwa claimed a father and son leaving others injured .

AKHWAT AKWOP is also aware that the ultimate aim of the Fulani terrorist is to create a situation of insecurity in southern Kaduna whereby our people will not be able to utilize this farming season thereby leading to hunger, deprivation and famine in the land

Rising from our national executive committee and field commander’s emergency meeting AKHWAT AKWOP resolves as follows

1. For so long we have restrained ourselves from reprisal attacks against these Fulani dogs from hell. We can and will no longer do so

2. Today 3/6/12 AKHWAT AKWOP gives all Fulani within southern Kaduna 7 days to leave. After these 7 days of grace which expires on 10/6/12 AKHWAT AKWOP declares open season on any Fulani found within our lands.

3. AKHWAT AKWOP assures all our peace loving and hardworking people of their safety in their homes, villages, highways and on their farms.

4. AKHWAT AKWOP reminds all that eternal vigilance in Christ Jesus is the price we pay for our freedom.

THE GATES OF HELL SHALL NOT PREVAIL!!!!!!!!!

REMAIN BLESSED

AKHWAT AKWOP

SAHARA REPORTERS' NAMING OF SO-CALLED 'AKHWAT AKWOP' AS 'A CHRISTIAN MILITANT SECT' IS MISLEADING. IF THERE IS ANY GROUP, AT ALL, GOING BY THIS NAME, AND DEEMS IT FIT TO RELEASE THIS STATEMENT, IT IS NOT A CHRISTIAN SECT. A SIMPLE CHECK BY SAHARA REPORTERS WOULD HAVE REVEALED THEIR TRUE IDENTITY. GOING BY ITS NAME ONE CAN DEDUCE, WITH EASE, THAT IT IS A TRIBAL YOUTH GROUP, WHOSE MEMBERS ARE WILLING AND ABLE TO TAKE THEIR DESTINY IN THEIR HANDS. THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM PERPETUAL UNPROVOKED AGGRESSION FROM KNOWN PARTIES, WHICH IS CLAIMING THEIR LIVES RELENTLESSLY, EN MASSE, AND GOVERNMENT HAVE CONSISTENTLY FAILED IN HER DUTY TO PROTECT THEIR LIVES AND PROPERTY. THEY MAY BE CALLED MILITANTS; BUT SURELY NOT CHRISTIAN SECT. MEMBERS MAY ALSO BE CHRISTIANS, MOSLEMS, TRADITIONAL RELIGIONISTS, OR EVEN ATHEISTS.

SAHARA REPORTERS SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A TOOL TO DISTRACT FROM THE ISSUE AT STAKE BY BRINGING IN A CONTROVERSIAL NAME-TAG TO CHRISTIANITY.

Nnenna1: Yes, this is the worst regime.

To be fair, Goodluck isn't any more inept than his predecessors. I guess you can say that he had the ill luck (ha!) of taking seat when years and years of mismanagement, rot, corruption, violence and outright savagery have accumulated and reached a breaking point. His inadequacies (which is on par with those before him) are very stark compared to craziness that Nigeria has become.

I think that he may decline a second term, only for some other greedy sucker to come in, loot and wear the title of president with the worst regime.

Because it IS going to get worse.
Not quite true!

Nigeria can be fixed; if not with ease, then with great effort.

All it will take is a president who is conscious of his/her powers; contented, not given to corruption, not greedy for power, money, fame, praise, opportunity, long live; non tribal, have the will to do the right thing by distinguishing between useful and useless advice from a retinue of paid advisers, assistants, ministers, friends, etc. an empathetic president will surely succeed.
