PoliticsRe: GEJ - Boko Haram Disorganised My Plans For Govt by jaybee(f): 8:05am On Jul 18, 2012
Da infamous: thats is what they wanted, they want to make his government ungoverned and they are winning in some ways because terrorism halt economy and slow govt activities down plus no investors will want to invest in a country with no security all because his from "minority tribe" GOD will protect him and give him wisdom to handle this ugly trend......
noblezone: Those blaming Jonathan for the menace of Boko Haram should see a shrink. Boko Haram is a product of the mis-amalgamation. If Buhari or any of the kinsmen of the Boko Haramites had won the election, there would have been "peace".

I am ashamed to read some tantrums here that will make my 1yr old so matured in the name of posts.

Boko Haram is not the normal security challenge. Nigeria is at "war"! The aggressors want to intimate us into submission. The philosophy is simple: "we rule or don't rule".

For those who find it hard to understand what Mr. President said, The American economy melted because of "war against terror". Boko Haram is doing a "good" job of making "Nigeria ungovernable".

We can either support the progressives and resist the internal colonialists or we can hide behind our computers and blame Mr. president for our woes as if he was the one that caused the mis-amalgamation.
D-Explorer:
GEJ gave a reason why his government has not met the yearnings of the people and you all choose to make illogical comments. The president had a transformation plan, he came on board only to encounter an emergence, he changed strategy to security whilst working on job creation via YouWin. I believe if he has a direct impact on you or your family, you probably won't pick ranting as chorus. Welldone GEJ! He's winning again in 2015 incase any hater wants to die before then.
This is a dumb way of thinking. if there are no challenges then no need of government in the first place. can you mention a government that never had any challenges during her tenure? you all speak as if this is the first time there is a government in Nigeria. you people are just complaining of minority status while the president is busy globe trotting, doing nothing and spitting nonsens, while the country deteriorates by the minutes. what has minority got to do with governance? why this feeling of inferiority complex? does his minority tribe status makes him less of a Nigerian? a president always playing the victim what does he expect from ordinary Nigerians? Gowon was from a so-called minority tribe and when a majority tribe wanted to undermine him and the government did he just sitdown and started cyring foul, and playing the victim? check your history and see what he did. was what of Shagari's government that was overthrown in a coup; was his government brought down because he is a minority? you guys and your so-called inefficient president better find another line of defending mediocrity and inaction instead of sticking to a lazy man's argument.

was there not maitatsine riots in 1980 during Shagari? El-zaky-zaky's muslim fundamentalists, OPC, Mossop, etc during Sani Abacha's rigime, Mossop sharia uprisings and the talibans in northern Nigeria, Niger Delta millitants during OBJ's regime and Yaradua's tenure? what are you talking about of distraction? there is no excuse for this dismal show by the president. if he can't deal with challenges of distraction, then let him throw in the towel. enough of excuses.

well, i've always loved Kobo's posts, especially those on politics. but it appears her understanding of boko haram, who they are, their motivation, their vision, their mission, their modus operandi, their collaborators, their sympathizers, their financiers, their hosts, their victims is dismally poor. her unfortunate misunderstanding of the socio-political, socio-cultural and socio-political setting of northern nigeria, vis-a-vis the history of socio-politico-religious uprising in thar region is also evident. if she had done a simple research on these issues, as she claims, she would have helped herself instead of publicly displaying the depth of her ignorance of the subject matter. i suggest she do that simple research asap.

my reference to above quotation is your calling Kobojunkie a 'junk'. i guess it is the post that is junk; i prefer to say she posted junk. but she may not be a junk herslef.

either you are totally naive and ignorance on nigerian politics or you are outrightly mischievous.

the game you are talking about starts months, weeks and days before the voting date. the few nights before the vote are the evil nights where everything imaginable is conceived and hatched, just to win election so for a ballot box to be stuffed within 48 hour of election is no surprise, especially if it is by PDP. take it or leave it at your peril.
Car TalkRe: Nigeria’s Driver’s License Accepted In The USA by jaybee(f): 2:46pm On Jul 14, 2012
r231: Information recently made available to 247ureports.com through principal sources within the Federal Road Safety Corps [FRSC] reveal that the new improved security features imbedded in the new driver’s license of the federal republic of Nigeria has been approved for acceptance by the State of Maryland in the United States of America [USA] as a valid driver’s license in the state of Maryland. This information was confirmed by the department of motor vehicles in the State of Maryland following a comprehensive inspection and evaluation of the new security features imported into the new driver’s license being launched by the FRSC.

Already, the new driver’ license has been accepted by other European countries including Australia. Another North American country, Canada is said to be conducting an independent evaluation of the licensing process and the new security features to determine whether to begin accepting the new license as a valid driver’s license in their country.

The new driver’s license, as gathered, was launched to streamline the pervading duplicity in identity and the ongoing fraud within the issuing agencies. Presently, the FRSC created a single data base to house the bio-data of all holders of the driver’s license in a manner to enable complete background checks on would-be drivers or applicants for driver’s license. The data base houses the biometrics including advance methods of collecting and storing fingerprints, passport snap shots, verifiable address and next of kin contact information [phone number]. This information are captured by the new system and scans the entire database of driver’s license to find matches for existing duplicates in the database system. When matching duplicates are found – an alarm is raised. The search for duplicates normally takes less than a minute to a minute to complete.

Impressively, the process for applying for driver’s license [DL] has been overturned to ensure the integrity of the DL. Previously, DL’s are issues ate the various FRSC zones in the country. There are 12 FRSC zones in Nigeria. The new process requires for the entire DL to be issued [printed] at one source – that is the headquarters in Abuja. The application for DL now starts with a visit to the website [www.NigeriaDriversLicence.org] where the applicant will be asked to fill out the appropriate form [renewal/new/re-issue]- and then chose the closest FRSC office to pick up his/her license. From the website, a print out is generated which the applicant will take to the nearest FRSC office of his/her choice. At the FRSC office, fingerprints and other pertinent bio-data are captured electronically and transmitted instantly to the head office in Abuja. The local FRSC then issues a temporary driver’s license which has a validity period of 60days. A fee of N6,000 is paid directly to the Joint Tax Board via electronic means.

The headquarter office in Abuja will instantaneously input the captured data into the main database to scan for duplicates of fingerprints or photographs. When there appears a duplicate, the application is rejected. When there appear no duplicates, the application process is continued to the next level. The license is then printed and delivered to the local FRSC office.

In addition to the streamlined process, the new security features of the license appear to have improved considerably. New features imbedded into the new license make duplication of the license virtually impossible. This is particular to the quality of the material used for the new license. The barcodes at the back of the license are said to be scan-able by the field FRSC operatives while at the various checkpoints along the streets and roads throughout the country. And as gathered, the barcodes contain the bio-data of the holder of the license.

The Chief Executive of the FRSC, Osita Chidoka, is said to have been the brainchild behind the restructuring of the Nigeria Driver’s License program through the improved security features. It is believed the new process will provide a new realistic baseline for the start of a true identification process in Nigeria – for the various security outfits in Nigeria.

247ureports.com also gathered that the Chief Executive of the FRSC will be gradually introducing the point-system for repeat offenders of laws against road safety. With the new driver’s license, it will be possible to accurately record and score each offender in the database with each offense – and when a limit is reached, the offender’s driver’s license is either suspended or revoked.

It was also gathered that the majority of the DL holders are presently not captured in the main database of the FRSC due to the manner the process had been abused by the various FRSC zones. “Most of the licenses on the streets are mere plastic cards” said a top ranking officer of the FRSC who went to say that “as time goes on, the drivers will need to renew their licenses and we will automatically capture their bio data”.

Most importantly, the new process will enable checkmate the prevalence of insecurity in the country.

LIES! LIES!! LIES!!!

FRSC IS A BIG LIAR, all those feeling good about this STORY should read in between the lines. FRSC is just trying to justify the big scam in the so-called new drivers licence. they want to justify the planned extortion of Nigerians over the drivers licence scam. they want to enlist the support of unsuspecting Nigerians to put pressure on the national assembly to allow them to start ripping of nigerians in the name of new drivers licence. Ladies and gentlemen what does it mean that Nigeria's new drivers licence mow accepted in USA? what concerns drivers licence with USA? we are in nigeria, let's do what is right at the right time. USA will take care of her drivers. anyone that aspires to drive in USA can go for a test and obtain a USA drivers licence within 48 Hours

elklehamite: It is now very clear that boko haram is not fighting political war but reliligion. I said in the past past that if this people are fighting political war,why then are they focusing on churches and killing innoncent christians? Someone did argued then that Jonathan's government is synonimous to christianity by the thinking of this illitrate boko haram hence they do not want "an infidel" to rule them forgetting that themselves are Infidel to the same christians and yet they could not see beyond their nose. But the question now is can the stand in this battle line they are drawing? "Telling all christians to accept ISLAM and start worshipping the desert spirit of mass destruction and blood monger before they could have peace is ridiculous.Whereas christians are not forcing people or themslves to become christians is a very seriious exceptions. My only worries, is that they are some muslems that are not in support of BOKO HARAM menace, while some are pretending and even likes the killing project that they have embarked upon.In this situation, where do we go from here? The christians cannot afford to be watching themselves being continuously slaghtered like cow, they would wants to defend themselves and that is to say war. Government will have to wake up to their responsibities, for I am beginning to hear a drum of war sounding by virtue of the development.

jaybee: this is a court judgement, not politics, culture or economics.

i can remember a political solution was arranged sometimes back, in which in the spirit of brotherliness, Akwa-Ibom State agreed to share the proceeds of oil, from the oil wells in question, with Cross Rivers State. but Cross Rivers State was not satisfied with the arrangement and so went back to court in attempt to claim all. recall that both states were once in the old cross rivers state, before the split in 1987, and the present day cross rivers state government do not appear to have a good grasp of the coordinates their common boundary, and the implication of the loss of bakkasi peninsula. once bakassi was ceded to cameroun, cross rivers ceased to be a littoral state, and has zero oil production onshore; it is now land-locked just like kogi, benue, katsina. it has zero derivation from the offshore production, where the oil wells in question are located. this is a political, economic, cultural and judicial matter, but the court judgement in question was more of administrative.

NYSCRe: Outrage As NYSC Posts Graduates To Borno, Others by jaybee(f):
chuks49: Corps members posted to Yobe, Kaduna, Kano, Sokoto, Bornu and Bauchi states have asked the National Youth Service Corps to redeploy them from these trouble states.

The corps members, who expressed sadness as they received their call-up letters for the Batch B NYSC service year, said they were confused as they did not know what to do due to the spate of bombings and other forms of insecurity in these states.

Some of the corps members and their families, who expressed their worries on various social network sites including Facebook and Twitter, said they were extremely sad and disappointed when they received their call-up letters, deploying them to trouble states where there is currently curfew, threats of reprisals andcenseless bombings.

Some of the comments on the social network sites read, “We need to arise and stop the government from sentencing us and our loved ones to death. Is our government/NYSCthis heartless or simply inhumane? We seek our immediate redeployment, we want to live in places where wecan work with peace of mind.’’

Our correspondents learnt thatauthorities of the NYSC had also been under pressure from parents and prospective corps members posted to northern states, who had been seeking alternative posting.

Our Correspondent learnt in Abuja on Sunday that the NYSCwas already collaborating with the affected states on how to ensure security for the corps members posted to their states.

But speaking through the Borno State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Inuwa Bwala, in a telephone interview with our correspondent in Abuja on Sunday, the Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, made a casefor corps members to be posted to the state.

He argued that the security situation in the state was beingexaggerated by detractors to further isolate the state from the rest of the country.

He said, “While it is true that we have security challenges,(http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2012/03/02/nigeria-war-in-the-north-war-in-the-south/ , http://www.ngex.com/news/public/article.php?ArticleID=2177 , http://www.google.com.ng/search?q=war+in+north+nigeria&hl=en&biw=1024&bih=649&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&sei=ud7yT8rINaPO0QXB0P2vCQ&gbv=2&tbm=isch , http://aderinola./2012/01/23/the-war-in-northern-nigeria-boko-haram-detonates-20-bombs-in-kano/ , )it is a fact that these challenges are not exclusive to Borno State.

“[b]We don’t have on record any attack on visitors[/b]http://www.punchng.com/news/attackers-slit-seven-construction-workers-throats-in-maiduguri/ neither do we have any record of attacks on the NYSC camp or corps members posted to and currently serving in Borno State.”

I would suggest the whole set of corpers refuse the whole exercise in solidarity to those posted to these deadly zones; and any right thinking Nigerian should support them on this. no one should support senseless posting of young innocent Nigerians to war fronts.

Nigeria is at war (FULL SCALE WAR) and the states in the north are the war fronts. truth must be told. this is not a mere security challenge. the so-called leaders have no courage to face a war hence, they call it security challenge, hundreds of innocent people are been massacred on daily and hourly basis while government keep on pretending all is well. even well trained police and other well equipped forces are being killed perpetually. Christians in many locations in the north have relocated from their God-given native lands, some to neighboring states and no one is doing anything on it.

The NYSC have not worked (at least going by the tribo-sectional tone of the Nairaland and other social media and politico-socio-cultural discourse). assuming it worked before, it is no longer relevant in Nigeria of today. if all other avenues did not unite Nigeria, then NYSC, as presently operated, can not unilaterally unite Nigeria. so what is its basis? it is long overdue for outright crapping, total reform or complete modification. it has outlived its usefulness if it ever had any.

i will suggest that outside my advice for a complete boycot of the NYSC program this time, those going on a suicide mission may venture to the north on so-called NYSC. the risk is too high for a normal person to take.

Finally remember that your life does not depend on NYSC; Your destiny is not teid to NYSC; why why the panic and anxiety?

However, these days, it is fashionable for clever people to blame the man that has opened their eyes to the way the citizen was being phucked. 9ja is a weird and wonderful place indeed! You help a man, only for him and his family to spit on you and call you a fool; as GEJ said, "ITS A BIG BUSINESS." embarassed

PoliticsRe: Workable Suggestions To GEJ On How To End The Boko Haram Menace. by jaybee(f): 2:46pm On Jun 25, 2012
Abagworo: The Boko Haram fight is between Northern factions of PDP and GEJ is siding one. The only way to solve it, is to broker peace between Sambo, IBB and Atiku. That is the political Boko Haram. The religious own will take serious intelligence job to uproot it from the source.
linking boko haram to politics, and worse still, to individual politicians, northern presidency, politcal power/1015 elections make the real boko haram seem to remain on course to destabilize nigeria, in the sense that they feel they've once again succeeded in diverting attention to others while they get a clear coast for operation. this shows the limited understanding of what boko haram is, and stands for; especially in government circles. if its a spade, call it a spade.

there is nothing like political boko haram and religious boko haram as you (and a host of others, honest and decietful)are insinuating; there is only one boko haram. there may be others with symphaty for their cause, franchisees (albeit unofficial) and other criminals that wear the toga of boko haram to commit various crimes.

boko haram is a religious sect, to be precise, islamic sect 100%. in islam, there is no distinction between state and religion. so boko haram does not believe in the Nigerian constitution, and therefore seeks the total establishment of the sharia legal system to govern the administration of Nigeria; and worse still, their condition for peace is the total islamisation of Nigeria, by their definition, everybody converting to islam.

boko haram will still do this even if it is the sultan (not to say pdp, north, atiku, buhari, ibb etc) that is president of Nigeria and these conditions are not met. the only thing to stop boko haram outside these conditions, is the government might, which is not lacking in Nigeria. the only thing lacking is the WILL - political, moral, intelligence, organizational, etc.

Johndoe100: A very good Q & A session by GEJ. Lots of issues clarified. I hope this gives the average Nigerian faith in what the government is doing.

TroGunn: It's unlikely about the money. They believe they are doing God's work.
it is not the money; it is not poverty; it is the religion.

from birth the moslems are taught (indoctrinated), among other things, to hate 'infidels' especially xtians. they have no conscience towards 'infidels'; to kill an infidel is a worthwhile; to show mercy to infidels is optional in times of peace, and in times of crisis, a sin. this is true for all moslems, at least in nigeria, irrespective of level of education, status, background, political leaning; except for those that may deviate on their own volition or due to some other personal persuasions or convictions. even at that this personal deviation is not guaranteed, especially in times of crisis.

this is the stark reality we have been in, and may have to contend with for a long period to come. as long as people in authority continue to play the ostrich, babbling and glossing over this fundamental issue, that chaos will continue and the islamic aggression will continue. it is just pathetic. no amount of almajiri schools or palliatives or bribery in whatever guise will stop this. the only solution is for moslems to to change the way they view so-called infidels by according them human status, an respecting their right to live, freedom of worship and egalitarianism as fellow citizens.

this can only be achieved with the thousands of islamic teachers/preachers changing the theme of their teaching from hatred of 'infidels' to love for God (or Allah).

bodejohn: You people do not know that every opportunity to bring investors to this country must be exploited. Do you know the number of foreign governments and investors that the president and his entourage will meet free of charge. Have you all forgotten that OBJ's junkets around the world during his 8years was responsible for the massive industrialisation of the country and the uninterrupted power supply that we now enjoy?
Let us show understanding and patriotism with the developmental programs of the FG.
which investor will come to nigeria? a corrupt country in war? do they want to die? who ever told you that investment is the same thing as suicide mission? do you think the investors care what government tells them? the investors are watching events in nigeria more critically than our so-called government. the presence of gej there will scare the investors away, by confirming that he has no concern for the security of his state and people.
