PoliticsRe: Are We Any Better Than The Leaders We Condemn ? by jaybee(f): 4:36pm On Jun 04, 2012
frosbel: You missed the point again !!

The leaders are drawn from the populace, the mere fact that we have always produced bad leaders is a verdict in itself of the quality of our people.

Again, stop pushing away personal responsibility to the government, we all have our part to play - Fact !!
you are the one getting it wrong. no one is pushing personal responsibilities to government. if the leaders have no roles to play and be held accountable and responsibile for the positions they hold then where is the leadership? indeed it is the duty of the leaders to lead by example; then the followers would follow their footsteps. the leader would just not say "i can not do well because i don't have good followers" it doesn't make sense. a leader would not say "i am not performing because the damage had been done by my predecessors" it doesn't make sense. it is the duty of a leader to make things right, even where he found them wrong. so NO EXCUSE FOR NIGERIAN LEADERS WHO ARE CORRUPT AND EXPECT A DISCIPLINED FOLLOWERSHIP; i'm sorry you can't get it like that.

You know how many plane crashes happen during his time, eh Alh harem.

How many death happen during Abacha and IBB time. You must quit smoking pepper!
i think @ BlackPikiN got it all wrong. VERY WRONG!!.

We are not talking of the number of deaths; not number of plane crashes. we are speaking on administration. POOR ADMINISTRATION; MALADMINISTRATION, WEAK ADMINISTRATION, UNFOCUSED ADMINISTRATION, CORRUPTION RIDDEN ADMINISTRATION.

even in number of deaths this administration is notorious; performing 'better' than any other, checkout.

henryskywalker2003: To all of you saying congratulations, you guys are still living in the 18th century else can you tell me how that fishing boat looks like a warship to any of you (Beaf and cohorts). For your information Warships are categorized in the following 7 categories, Aircraft carrier, Cruiser, Destroyer, Frigate, Corvette, Submarine, and Amphibious assault ships. I will include pics of the 7 categories to let you guys help me classify where that "fishing boat" falls under. Warship my foot, even pirates have better boats than that. Mscheeeeeew. But on a serious note, that looks more like a patrol boat than anything else.

The following are pics of aircraft carrier class ships.
What are you saying? how many of these pictures will come to nigeria's rescue in terms of aggression? it is what we own that is ours; and we should be proud of it (except the disappointments of jonathan (gej) and his ilk). as americans are proud of their machines, so we should be proud of ours. that's their level; this is ours! simple. no hard feelings.

that's interesting. Gives a clearer picture of those days. No wonder the north was allowed to vote for him en masse. I always wondered about that.
Abiola won the election in the north mainly because of two reasons: 1) most of north is progressives, courtesy of late mallam Aminu Kano and his discilpes Balarabe musa, late Abubakar Rimi, late Dr. Bala Usman, etc. and 2) he ran a muslim-muslim ticket with Babagana Kingibe; recall that Abiola was a staunch financier of islam and muslim atrocities in nigeria.

This project started about five (5) years ago at NN dockyard in V/I Lagos. it would have been completed in 2010 but Yaradua fell sick and the then vice president was not in charge hence the delay in completing it.

the job is now done and will be commissioned; it is now gej's glory, fully attributed to him. if it were corruption and other challenges, then it did not start during gej, it must be attributed to others that were there before him.

Deep Sight: If we have Obafemi Awolowo University, Tafawa Balewa University, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Ahmadu Bello University. . . and these are all pre-eminent institutions, then it is CLEAR that the principle of naming an eminent Federal Institution after an eminent national hero is not in question. The only question is therefore the eligibility of MKO for such an honour. For that, I will not argue: history speaks: I will only say that any person who thinks MKO does not deserve such an honour is a person who is not fit to breathe the air of democratic liberty that we today SO ungratefully and hypocritically breathe. PEACE!
you have swallowed the bait of gej , hook, line and sinker. how simple you are. yours is the most flawed of all logics. to take you on your simplistic way: Obafemi Awolowo, Tafawa Balewa, Nnamdi Azikiwe and Ahmadu Bello were all regional/national leaders and heroes; can you say that of MKO?

UNILAG is a big and popular brand that must be handled strategically - with care, thoughtfulness and foresight - so as not to bring down her goodwill capital and value by, senseless simplistic politics. this is not an honour to MKO. if MKO were alive he would protest this daft move by desperate non-performers.

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Is Jihad On Christians - Rev Akinola by jaybee(f): 5:07pm On May 28, 2012
LagosShia: a very irresponsible remark unfit for a leader that is how i'd describe this man's comment.the comment also shows that the reverend is as ignorant if not more than boko haram.he needs to find out the meaning of jihad.boko haram, like their wahhabi aka salafist fellows the world over, are ruthless and barbaric even killing their fellow muslims (both sunni and shia muslims).boko haram try to justify their bad and criminal behaviour by bringing religion into it and twisting islamic beliefs.the criminals are doing so,but why should a leader also do the same thing by making inciting speeches based on ignorance? a leader should be enlightened and responsible enough to promote peace, unity and justice.he should not make ignorant speeches that would embolden the criminals and find them sympathizers.now, the ignorant reverend that other ignorant folks also revere has launched a verbal attack that even muslims (in their overwhelming majority in nigeria) who oppose and condemn boko haram would feel bad about.why alienate every muslim and attack his islamic beliefs because boko haram criminals are abusing religion to justify their injustifiable acts?

boko haram like all wahhabi oriented groups of fanatics have carried out attacks against muslims everywhere including nigeria,syria,iraq,pakistan,afghanistan,e.t.c.my question to the ignorant man in sheep clothing is this:if boko haram is carrying out a jihad against christians,is it also a jihad they are carrying out against their muslim victims?

it is so obvious now more than ever that there are people who stand to gain or seeking to gain from the boko haram menace.they are using this issue with the help of the media to spread more hatred and division.obviously,if they dont stand to gain, they will not make wreckless and ugly statements of incitement.this man is indeed a wolf in sheep clothing.he is playing the victim and over-generalizing with religious and tribal statements to pretend he is innocent.haven't christians and muslims alike committed crimes against the interest of nigeria?boko haram is far off from islam and far off from leading a jihad in the true meaning of the word in islamic terminology.
You are a big fool, ok? how dare you insult a man of God for telling the president what false prohets have refused to tell him? who are you to comment on a speech by man of God? can you call sultan abubakar or even your local imam or his utterance 'irresponsible'? do you know the meaning of responsibility? who are you among muslims? do you think christians don't know what islam is and stand for? muslims are always jittery when it comes to truth and facts because they stand and strive on falsehood.

if any one is irresponsible it is the so called muslim leaders, beginning with the sultan; for refusing to admit the work of their hands and hearts and minds - their disciples, whom they have all through taught hatred for truth and christians, disrespect for God and His creations, destruction without human feelings. no wonder i can see you are trying to distort the facts of events that are happening right before all to see. repent now or you will go to hell without remedy.

Beaf: Is it not funny how this is about to turn into another ethnic warfare thread? Lol! grin
That is the practical proof that the GEJ insults are driven by ethnic bigotry.

Many are very uncomfortable that a man from the long suffering Niger Delta (where the goose that lays the golden egg, oil is located) is on the seat of power; they are deeply scared it would wreck their evil gravy train.
This set of animals have the deep pockets to finance ethnically bigoted campaigns in the press and on the internet. There are also many enough fools to take the bait.

A few ACN dolts have mentioned on this thread that I call Aregbesola "AregbeRASCAL!" Lol! He is one of those actively sponsoring ethnically bigoted, Nazi style attacks on GEJ and the rest of the country, yet he (like his NURTW type followers) is a thoroughly empty, ill-bred and corrupt fellow with not a single acheivement to point at in two useless years of claiming and renaming every FG project, globetrotting and living in Lagos. What kind of governor abuses a political opponnents physical attributes on TV saying they have funny eyes? Who aside from someone from the gutter like Aregbesola? I wish all these raining curses on buhari heard or read his comment directly; and then attempt to comprehend it. rather, they are reacting to abati's distractive diatribe. why can't this government and her cronies address the issues raised by buhari instead of attacking him and calling him names?

how long shall poor nigerians continue to remain docile and timid in the face of flagrant intimidation and human rights abuse by covert thieves in government enjoying stolen mandates? buhari is just drawing attention of those in authority to glaring and impending consequences that love of power has hidden from our maximum rulers; which others can clearly see, but have no guts to discuss, not to talk of addressing.

this government should bury her head in shame because with all the resources being spent on the president and his retinue of advisers non of then can see a clear imminent disaster waiting to happen at the slightest opportunity like the general elections and advise appropriately.

i think buhari should be given credit for being patriotic enough to speak, knowing full well the insults that will follow from shameless political jobbers like abati et al. we know this insensitive government will throw away the messenger and the message, and when the consequences of her actions and inactions comes to fruition, they will start pointing accusing fingers to the very person(s) that had forewarned them ! too bad.

what buhari said will come to pass if those who has the power to avert it continue to play on the insensibilities, lethargy and timidity of majority nigerians. goodluck to you all.

The civil society stood up and gave the govs the antidotes to these poisons and after being cured they realized they were being foooled by the retardeen. They soon realized that one of the reason why they have few money to share monthly was because NNPC with the express permission from Madueke (retardeen's minister)has been involved in a lot of fraudulent practices as regards the federation account. The antidote is even so powerful that some are even doubting if there is subsidy at all.

The govs are much more enlighten now also with the help of the House of Rep. This explains why the Retardeen is currently Mad.

PoliticsRe: Senate Rejects Naval Research Institute In Bayelsa by jaybee(f): 10:26am On May 02, 2012
lastpage: Thank you very much!
I was expecting this sort of analysis from peeps here instead of the usual "tribal rants" we are getting.
It seems we under-rate the "efficacy of RESEARCH" in our daily progress and life in general.
A Naval research institute IS NOT A WASTE OF FUNDS.

For example, most military hardware and new technologies used in warfare/defense and even deterrence, are products of "research institutes".

Even if the Naval Research Institute succeeded in coming up with say for example, a prototype to build "small boats with advanced Navigational facilities on board", it has justified its existence because such boats can be used as Ferries for our inland waterways transportation (as of today, you have to import one), such boats can be used by sea-going fishermen, such boats can be used for "shallow sea" search and rescue, e.t.c.

And l am sure that with the level of intelligence of Nigerians and some strategic foreign collaboration, such research institute can serve as a basis for much development not to mention the amount of jobs it could create (in terms of ancillary services as well)!

I dont care where it is sited, (at least we dont expect it to be like the Nigerian Ports Authority that was moved from Lagos, to a "dry zone" like Abuja!), as long as the "objective of setting it up" is maintained.

By the way, like someone said, the Senator needs to tell the nation why she thinks "its a waste of fund", not just make some silly assertion and then conclude that it should be scrapped.

At this stage, this nation needs a lot more research institutes and the "inventions" of such institutes needs to be funded and commercialized ASAP.
Go to our universities and other tertiary institutions (research Institutes as well) and see how so many 'research products' lie on the shelf, waiting for commercialization!
No wonder we still import Bicycle from India, even the one for our kids, that an ordinary Iron welder can "put together" for peanuts!

How are we going to ever develop with this kind of attitude?

This is not about Jonathan, PDP or Bayelsa state, it is about creating the required infrastructure for future development.
Nuff said.

Lastpage!

Maybe the money should be "diverted into more allowances" for the Sin-a-tor's pocket ?
Well, the issue here is not as simple as you are postulating. we are way ahead of what you are struggling to articulate.

we are ruminating on the driver, the motive of this white elephant projects. the president is just been too simplistic and superficial. he is siting these projects in where he perceive as his home. he is a poor politician. the whole of niger delta are singing his praise not minding his unacceptably dismal performance. why only his state and local government and village?

he has shown clearly that he is doing it to please his kinsmen and not to develop the country. that is the crux of the matter. if it were for the development of the country, i'm sure no sensible individual will raise an issue.

most of these projects the president is locating in his village are duplications of existing ones. for example we have a naval research center in Victoria Island http://www.navdock-wilmotpoint.com/. i was there last year and saw their operations. they are achieving http://www.navdock-wilmotpoint.com/achievement.htm quietly. just like other institutions, they are also facing challenges of funding amongst others. why these duplications when the available ones are not optimally catered for?

A naval research institute may be required in Nigeria; but the motive must not be to satisfy the ego of "i did it in my village, local government, state or region". otherwise, its just a waste of scarce resources.

Jonathan may sack MDAs’ chiefs for distorting 2012 budget
By Agency Reporter

President Goodluck Jonathan said on Friday that he would sack all Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) who lobbied the National Assembly to distort the 2012 budget.

The President stated this in his remarks shortly after signing the 2012 appropriation bill at the State House, Abuja.

Jonathan said the attitude of MDAs lobbying for increase of their budget by the National Assembly had been responsible for the difficulties in budget implementation.

He said that he already had security information on some heads of parastatal agencies who lobbied the National Assembly to increase the 2012 budget, adding that he would make scapegoats of them.

“One of the greatest problems I have noticed from the day I assumed office as a vice president in 2007 till date is that Federal Government budgets have not been based on proper planning. `

`In most cases, when the budget comes out from the Planning Ministry and Finance along the line, people distort the budget, especially some heads of MDAs go to lobby the National Assembly to put figures that are not based on planning.

“And that is why it has been very difficult for federal government to achieve targets.

``This year, we clearly frowned at it and I am going to use some heads of parastatals to show people our new direction. I got security reports – that some heads of MDAs came to lobby for their budgets to be increased; I will use some people as an example. I will ask them to leave because we cannot run a country without planning.

“We cannot run a budget that is not based on planning because these figures don't just come from the blues, people sat down and compute figures and see how it fits into fiscal responsibility and other issues.

``So we will not allow a situation where one person, because of personal interest will distort the budget of a nation,’’ the News Agency of Nigeria quoted the president as saying on Friday.

He pleaded with the National Assembly to always resist overtures from heads of MDAs to increase their budgets
