PoliticsRe: Why You'll Never Vote For Goodluck Jonathan? by jaybee(f): 6:33pm On Apr 07, 2011
@ OP Seun

My second point

GEJ is a sectional, narrow-minded, incompetent leader!

His public utterances during the October 1 bomb blast proves him so. without any investigation, GEJ absolved MEND (which had earlier warned, and later claimed responsibility after the blasts), of the heinous crime. He went on to chase his perceived enemies, mentioning names, thereby interfering with security agents’ investigations. Nothing can come out of any investigations in respect of the October 1 bomb blast since the C-in-C has made a public statement on who is responsible and who is not.

Again on 31st December 2010, there was bomb blast at the mammy market of Sani Abach barracks in Abuja. Our Dear GEJ, having not learnt any lesson from his spontaneous defense of MEND on the October 1 bomb blast, hastily associated the mammy market blast with Boko Haram. That portrays the president as consistently inept and poor administrator. He does not investigate things before opening his mouth.

There are countless occasions where the president just make unguarded and embarrassing statements. He doesn’t understand the gravity of his office and hence can not differentiate it with his personal parochial sentiments.

I can’t vote for such to be president.

@OP

Yes. Good question.

I will NEVER VOTE for GEJ

He is a simple minded parochial sectional/tribal leader. Who prefers to mortgage the future of the entire nation in just to show his people/ section/tribe that he has arrived.

The very first assignment he performed as acting president was to stop the dredging of river Niger, (http://kanoonline.com/smf/index.php?topic=5157.0  ) which contract was awarded by late Yaradua (while yaradua was still on sick bed), and DIVERTED the funds the corrupt Ministry of Niger Delta with a indefensible reason as "to protect the shores of vulnerable communities, and reclaim lands that have been washed away".  All the denials that followed after the man realized the implication of his action (https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-404997.0.html ) only made him look more sectional and incompetent. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-406117.0.htm . According to the contract terms, the capital dredging was to be completed in June 2010, while the maintenance dredging would last another two years. http://allafrica.com/stories/201101050494.html .  To prove that GEJ stopped the project, till today, April 2011, the project is comatose. http://www.leadershipnigeria.com/ns/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=13003:river-niger-dredging-an-open-letter-to-jonathan&catid=38:issues-&Itemid=156

Surprisingly, GEJ is using the project for campaign as his achievement. If Nigerians consider the moral, economic, social and political implications of this singular act of stopping the Dredging of the Niger River, then GEJ should not have the guts to ask for their votes.

In the same vein, GEJ has systematically killed the SEVEN POINT AGENDA, RULE OF LAW, POLITICAL REFORMS, and other good things that his predecessor started. Wherein lays the so called continuity? Corruption, mediocrity, ineptitude, violence etc are the order of the day, while GEJ goes about as if all is well.

Will post point no 2 shortly.

your title for this post shows your low level of thinking.

how did the northerners rule?

do we have northerners as a political party? or a ruluing entity?

when Gowon, Murtala, Obasanjo, Shagari, Buhari, IBB, Abdulsalam & co. were heads of state or president, were they under any northern manifesto or constitution?

do you mean people from other sections of the country folded their arms, opened their eyes, and left the government and country to those you called northerners?

please wake up from your slumber!

we are talking of a bunch of looters A.K.A PDP who are bound together by greed and desire to control the national cake. they are registered, and have identity. they use all methods to coner power to themelves, they dont recognize geographical dichotomies. they may have different geographical affiliations, different ideologes, different religions, but certainly, united by one interest - THE NATIONAL CAKE - Tha nations Resources.

wehn OBJ was in power, between 1999 and 2007, did you say it is the west that was in power?

no it was PDP.

so your insinuation of the northerners rulling the country is totally flawed and completely mischievious.

with this explanation, you should be ashamed of yourself now that your folly is revealed.

how dumb can a poster be ?

Buhari was managing poverty. some of the thieves were escaping. the politicians had killed the economy with heavy debts, while the only source of revenue, oil, was rendered near useless by the collapse of oil prices in the international market. hence the austerity measure. IBB that took over what did he do? he could not do better. he introduced SAP and the rest is now history.
GEJ and his PDP came in when the Oil is at its highest value. Billions of dollars. they are supposed to manage wealth. but they just can not. they have fared worse than those who manged poverty.

your responses as if it is BB that caused the poverty is gorossly misplaced. for any discerning mind, this post will work against your so called GEJ.

The Ribadu supporters have shown courage by coming out boldly to show and express support to one that they believe in his ideology.

However, the Ribadu we are seeing now is the REAL RIBADU; not the one acting the OBJ/PBP script.

the dangerous part is that some are alleging he is a PDP implant in ACN just to cause confusion for BB/CPC.

Further more,   the REAL Ribadu we are seeing is just as juvenile and inept as clueless GEJ.

That is why, i guess, the Ribadu supporters have gone into a prolonged soul-searching.

However, i would advise that they muster enough courage and come off the soul-searching and quickly face reality. All those reforms they hoped for in Ribadu are inherent in BB and even much more. So they should, as a matter of urgency, join hands with BB and his supporters to work on the majority of Nigerians that are presently on the fence, to ensure total victory for BB at the polls.

At this point, time is of essence. Stand up and be counted among those that contributed to a better Nigeria, post PDP.
we all have that opportunity today; remember opportunuity once lost can never be regained.

You are not aware doesn't mean there aren't. People have mentioned INNOSON in Enugu up and down this thread how many times now? They are a privately owned business and also manufacture/assemble cars in Nigeria. So what is your point? That the idea is not a good one or what exactly?
@ Skye Blue

Indeed I’m not aware.

In Nigeria, anything is possible.

These companies you are mentioning what are their brand of vehicles? What is their production capacity ? what has government done; I mean pdp that has been in power for the past 12 years, to incentivize these investors?

We are talking of a country with about 150 million population. With annual importation of over a million vehicles annually. And you are mentioning some obscured outfits that may not pass for mechanics workshop (apology for the sacrificial investors who are doing great for the love of Naija).

Let us not miss the point. This thread is not about an idea. It is about an order -  “Jonathan Orders FG Parastatals To Patronise Nigerian Made Vehicles”

What I was trying to say was (and is) that GEJ should have checked that the locally assembled vehicles are in the market, in the first place, at with the reasonable quality and price (in a globalized economy) before opening his mouth once again.
The combined production per annum is nothing to write home about – (in the absence of published statistics I can not say). It is dismal, it is disheartening, it is shameful, only overtly shameless people should be happy with this situation as it is.
Go to the vehicle show rooms across the country and ask for  a made in Nigeria  vehicle ( or assembled in Nigeria), then you’ll know  what I’m saying. The car dealers don’t have that in their lexicon. Recently I was at Kaduna international trade fair and guess what I saw ? PAN is importing and selling vehicles mad in iran. I would have bought one, but for fear of its safety standards.
It is simple, people can not buy what is not in the market. Nigerians will buy made in  Nigeria vehicles once they are in the market.

GEJ has not made any point . I stand by my word.
BusinessRe: Jonathan Orders FG Parastatals To Patronise Nigerian Made Vehicles by jaybee(f): 11:58am On Apr 01, 2011
let us speak like informed people please.

PAN has been privatized (or sold) to OBJs cronies; for the avoidance of doubt, senator (former Governor)  Makarfi & co.
Majority of the workers there have been sacked ( or retrenched)

presently, only one assembly line for peogeot 307 is functional with a daily output of twenty-two (22) cars par day and less than 5,000 cars annually.

i'm not aware of any other vehicle manufacturing plant that is functional.

on this note, I would like to give a big kudos (probably my vote; yes my vote ! ) to Buhari who single handedly, without

any noise, gave a life line to a comatosed ANAMCO, during the PTF days, with a contract to assemble (with substantial

local content) the rugged 1414 buses which were distributed to almost all the tertiary institutions in nigeria. Most of us

enjoyed them; and till date, (about 15 years later) some are still functional and useful to the universities, polytechnics,

colleges of educations, colleges of nursing, monotechnics, etc .

However, GEJ and his pdp killed these assembly plants, systematically, and someone today is insulting the

sensiblilities of an informed nigeria by giving a directive for parastatals to start patronizing what is just not available.

non sense!

PoliticsAmerican Official Says Pdp Is Not A Party by jaybee(op): 2:35pm On Mar 21, 2011
Ladies and gentlemen in the house. as we go into the polls in a few days from now, i want us to take closer look at ths topic tha has been touched in some less direct and formal ways in this ( and other fora) forum. let's try to make some sense (if there is any) in it; and problably some conclusion and the way foward.
American official says PDP is not a party

Nicholas Ibekwe
March 21, 2011 01:28PM

The United States does not consider the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party a political party, a US diplomatic cable leaked to the whistleblowing site, Wikileaks, and made exclusively available to NEXT has shown.

Charge d’ affaires of the US embassy in Nigeria, Lisa Piascik, in a dispatch dated October 19, 2007, informed Washington that despite its labelling as a political party, the PDP did not meet “the common western understanding” of a political party.

According to Ms. Piascik, the PDP “lacks key ingredients most political parties share”.

After taking a swipe at the party’s mission statement, the American diplomat proceeded to deliver what is probably the most scathing analysis yet of the PDP.

“The PDP remains an agglomeration of interest groups formed around persons of prominence and power which are loosely tied together by a desire to remain in office and maintain access to the “national cake” or resources of the state”, Ms. Piascik declared.

“The PDP remains a highly fractious and opportunistic coalition of interests. True opposition, in the form of a powerful group with access to the pillars of power, comes from within the PDP - not from without as would be expected in a democratic party structure.”

She added that the party, which claims to be the biggest political platform in Africa, has no “ideological consensus” whatsoever and had remained divided from the start.

In a comment attached to the cable, the American diplomat said, “The PDP remains a highly fractious and opportunistic coalition of interests. True opposition, in the form of a powerful group with access to the pillars of power, comes from within the PDP - not from without as would be expected in a democratic party structure.”

However, the leadership of the PDP yesterday faulted Ms. Piascik’s analysis, saying she had no right to deliver such a verdict on the party.

The party’s spokesperson, Rufai Alkali, said “the People’s Democratic Party is governed by its constitution and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

“We are an organisation, recognised and registered by the Independent Electoral Commission,” Mr. Rufai said. “It is only its membership and leadership of the party and the law governing its operation that can determine it status. It is strange for any organisation outside the shores of the country that is not part of the operation of the party to give it any other name outside of what is known by the party”.

Mr. Alkali therefore urged his party’s supporters to “disregard any information that is likely to undermine the credibility of our great party”.

Interest groups in the PDP

In her breakdown of the configuration of the PDP, Ms. Piascik described the party as a network of pockets of interest groups largely centred around former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his successor, late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

She also pointed out that the PDP is a party divided within itself with different interest groups jostling for prominence. According to her, the biggest threat to the PDP is within the party itself rather than from the opposition.

“When viewing and interpreting developments such as the scandals surrounding House Speaker Patricia Etteh and Senate President David Mark or the intrigues surrounding investigation of former PDP governors, it is important to remember that the largest opposition to the PDP continues to come from within the party, not without”.

Ms. Piascik identified the contending forces in the PDP as the conservatives, the progressives, the Abacha appointees/supporters, the retired generals, the Obasanjo Network, the Yar’Adua network and the Immediate past governors Network”.

The conservatives and the progressives

The conservatives, the cable explained, are made up of the initial 18 northern politicians (G-18) that were opposed to the self-succession bid of former military dictator Sani Abacha and the southern politicians that later joined them to form the G-34.

This group, according to the diplomat, were the bedrock of the PDP and commonly referred to as the founding fathers of the party. The cable explained that this group was sidelined soon after the victory of the party in 1999 elections.

“Several original members left either because they disagreed with the influence of former Abacha-appointed politicians in the party or because of disagreements with President Obasanjo. Obasanjo was well-known for his fickleness and shortly after coming into office side-lined many of the G-34 who had been influential in bringing him into office”.

Notable members of the conservatives, as listed by the dispatch, include, former Vice President Alex Ekwueme, Chairman of the Northern Political Leaders Forum, Adamu Ciroma, former Ambassador to the U.S, Jibril Aminu and Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum Sunday Awoniyi.

The cable further classified the immediate past chairman of the party, Okwesilieze Nwodo, the second republic governor of Plateau State, Solomon Lar, the late former governor of Kano State, Abubakar Rimi and former Minister of Environment, Iyorchia Ayu, Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido and former information minister, Jerry Gana, as members of the progressive camp in the party. Also in the group, Chairman of the All Nigerian Peoples’ Party (ANPP) Ume Ezeoke, who Mrs. Piascik explained is “considered a PDP mole within the ANPP”, and former Minister of Justice who was assassinated in 2001, Bola Ige.

Abacha-appointees and the retired generals

According to Ms. Piascik, the Abacha-appointees are those who had served in different capacities under Mr. Abacha. They include former minister of works in the Obasanjo administration, Tony Anenih, former Chairman of the PDP, Barnabas Gemade, second republic governor of Anambra State, Jim Nwobodo and Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Yar’Adua administration, Ojo Maduekwe.

The retired general’s faction includes former military president, Ibrahim Babangida, Former National Security Adviser, Aliyu Gusau, former Minister of Defence, Theophilus Danjuma, and a former military Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar.

Mr. Abdulsalami is not known to be a member of the PDP.

The main power blocks

Despite the preponderance of loosely aligned factions struggling for control of the party, Ms. Piascik identified three power blocks at the top of the PDP hierarchy as at the time the cable was written. The factions were listed as the Obasanjo Network, the emerging Yar’Adua Network and the Babangida Network. The faction, which appears to be the most influential of these three, according to Ms. Piascik, was the Obasanjo Network.

“By the end of his presidency in May 2007, President Obasanjo had completely taken over the organisational machinery of the PDP,” Ms. Piascik wrote.

“He made all major decisions on membership, candidates, and matters of party structure, including amendments to the PDP Constitution in December 2006 which virtually guaranteed him chairmanship of the Board of Trustees”.

Prominent members of the Obasanjo Network identified by the Charge d’ Affair are Senate president David Mark, former Speaker of the House of Representatives Patricia Etteh, who was described as the “romantic interest” of Mr. Obasanjo, owner of the Dangote Group and chief financier of Obasanjo’s campaign in 2003, Aliko Dangote, self-acclaimed godfather of Anambra politics, Chris Uba, who the cable described as having “criminal ties” and his brother, Andy Uba, a former domestic aide to Mr. Obasanjo. Other members of the camp were former PDP deputy national chairman, south, Olabode George, former Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Adamu and his Bauchi State counterpart, Adamu Muazu.

Immediate past governors’ network

This group, according to the cable was “formed and coalesced largely around a shared desire to avoid prosecution”. They are also suspected as being the major financiers of Mr. Yar’Adua’s campaign. They include former governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, his Abia State counterpart Orji Kalu, Peter Odili of Rivers State, James Ibori of Delta State and Joshua Dariye of Plateau State. Others are George Akume of Benue State, Ahmed Makarfi of Kaduna State, Adamu Aliero of Kebbi State, Saminu Taraki Jigawa State, and Chimaroke Nnamani of Enugu State.

to me , personally ( excuse my tautology), i'm in sync with Lisa Piascik. i share her views and sentiments on this issue.

my conclusion: whoever keeps on supporting PDP, overtly or covertly, in speech, silence, writing, debate, indifference, thoughts, blogging, deeds, actions, inaction, sympathy, campaigns, votes, etc. etc. is an accomplice. He /she is contributing (willy-nilly) to the rot of this nation. nothing good can come from these different interests united (into a false political party) by greed and penchant for the national cake, to the detriment of the entire nation.

Verdict: Vote out PDP, without sympathy, irrespective of how good the individual candidate is. a tree can not mahe a forest in the desert of PDP. no matter how good, a pdp candidate can not change their philosophy and ideology since they have none to change in the first place. if the socalled good candidates lost in pdp, then they will be forced to harness their senses and regroup in more ideological political parties for the good of this nation. only then can we have political parties in the real sense of it in Nigeria. then politics may make sense at all.

secondly, let us vote for candidates from other parties. we may be lucky to have acces to them while in office. but for pdp candidates, after elections, only their "members" will have access to them; to inductrinate them on how to continue to wreck havock in the national cake. on how to continue in office for the next sixty or more years.

The ball is in our court.

Three persons were killed on Sunday, when a device assumed to be explosives, exploded at Dualla junction, Nassarawa Gwong in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Eye witness report said two men riding on a motor cycle were suspected to be carrying the explosive which detonated in their custody, killing both of them instantly.

The third person was riding alone and turned to escape from the scene of the explosion when angry residents pulled him down, before killing him and setting his body ablaze. The mob also burnt the two who died from the explosion.

The incident, which occurred at about 9:45am, took place near the premises of ECWA Church, Nassarawa Gwong, some 300 meters from Angwa Rukuba junction. The junction was scene of the multiple explosions that rocked the city on December 24, last year.

Pastor in charge of the ECWA parish, Satti Adamu said he was in the church when he heard the sound of an explosion.

“When I came out, I was told that some Hausa boys wanted to throw a bomb and it exploded and killed them,” he said. “We had just finished the English service and were about to start the Hausa service when it happened. The confusion and reaction it generated disrupted the Hausa service. So, we did not hold it today.”

Statement from Police

Plateau state police command confirmed the tragedy. In a bulletin released Sunday afternoon and signed by the police spokesperson, Apev Jacob, the command said: “At about 09:45hrs, two men believed to be carrying explosive devices on them rode on a motorcycle along Nassarawa Gwong, and on getting to Dualla Junction, the explosives exploded on them along the road between ECWA and COCIN churches. The two persons lost their lives in the incident. No church was bombed and there are no facts yet to suggest that churches were the target.”

Lucky escape

However, security was immediately beefed up around the Mountain of Fire and Miracles church, near VIO’s office, after men of the anti bomb squad uncovered a high-capacity bomb which was planted a few meters from the church building. A bomb expert at the state police, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the discovery.

“If the bomb had gone off, its impact could have raged as far as 500 square meters,” he said.

The state police commissioner, Abdulkareem Akanno later went into an emergency talk with the men of the anti bomb squad. But the result of the meeting was not available to the press.

Those who believe Nigeria is a failed state should hold unto their belief, it's your cross to carry, and as for those who think otherwise, it's our cross too to carry, whichever way you are looking at Nigeria depends on how Nigeria has treated you or how high you have the issue of the country at heart.

we feel threatened by reality so we make every excuses, in most cases starting with accusations (and outright attack) of perceived opponents (enemies), whipping up sentiments on simple issues to garner sectional or tribal sympathy(ies), crying wolf where there is none, covering a clear atmosphere with dust of selfish sentiments; masking the main issues and finally loosing track of the real situation that need to be corrected - thereby making bad situations worse, just to keep our kin in (or on ?) power.

what is the result? all of us are paying for it.

backlog of unsolved issues, more confusion, weak leadership, weak followership, sycophancy, weak institutions, manipulations, corruption, laziness, buck passing, retrogression, illiteracy, unemployable graduates, unemployment, poverty, hunger, begging, thuggery, area boys (also area fathers, papas, babas, and mamas) unpatriotism, lying, accusations and counter accusations, militancy, rigging, ballot snatching, religious crises, ethnic crises, stealing in churches and mosques, robbery, bribery, bombing, kidnapping, molestation of innocent citizens, brutality, killing, self-pity, cheating, injustice, poor renumerations, strikes, death traps in place of roads, diseases, religion without spiritualism, unrighteousness, unfaithfulness etc, etc, ,  (excuse my use of verb tenses here).

The earlier we turn to reality, face it, do the do ables, accept our weaknesses and work on them, the better for us collectively; otherwise we would just wake up one day (if we are lucky -or unlucky- to be among the living) and Nigeria, the country we have built on falsehood, deceit and fabrications will be no more; it has been overtaken by reality. Then it will be too late to turn back the hand of time.

Remember, deceit can only make flowers but can not bear fruits! you blind supporters of gej (and others) please be warned.
Jokes Etc33 Nigerian Miners Trapped Underground by jaybee(op): 4:38pm On Oct 22, 2010
Well this may sound funny, but if such a calamity should befall us, I assure you that your dream will not only be a nightmare, it will be a horror thriller without end. Imagine the level of politics that was played on Oct. 1st bombing, Cholera and the recent floods arround the country. Peolpe are buying cover pages to publicise the donation of relief mtrls that are much less than the cost of the publicity. What a country. May God have mercy on us, amen.

Enjoy!

Last night I dreamt that 33 Nigerian Miners were trapped underground and the govt sent a capsule down to rescue them one after the other, but the rescue had to be called off as the trapped miners could not agree amongst themselves on who goes first. Zoning was suggested but they could not agree on which zone will go first. Eventually in a struggle to all board at the same time, the capsule was damaged leading to the call off.
In fact the real problem was that FEC awarded the capsule contract to Ibori and we are still awaiting delivery 3 mths later. There is a probe going on to unravel this and retrieve the award sum before we get to the issue of what formula to adopt for the rescue and which miner comes out first. Meanwhile traditional rulers from the miners' towns are paying solidarity visits to the President to thank him for his efforts to rescue the miners.
And the First lady has just invited the wives of the Nigerian miners to Abuja for dinner at the Hilton! The first ladies from the 36 states will also be in attendance. All including the wives of the miners will wear the Goodluck for President Ankara.
CNN reported early this morning that after 10mths underground all the 33 Nigerian miners have died and the Nigerian govt has declared 7 days of mourning during which the Nigerian flag will be flown at half mast. The event and memorial centre will cost 2 billion naira only.

The woman should simply hire an interpreter so that she can speak in Izon while the interpreter explains it in English. shikena.

But , meanwhile, her husband has lost my vote for marrying an illiterate woman.

She no fit polish herself grammatically right from when her husband be deputy director for OMPADEC, deputy Guvnor for Bayelsa, Guvnor for Bayelsa, Vice presido for Naija & now Presido. Haba Hajia,
This s one of the few sensible posts on this thread.

its only in nigeria that the mediocrity of "rulers" MUST be celebrated, and not criticized even constructively.

what is the achievement in being first lady? what has she achieved any way? SHE HAVE REACHED THE PINNACLES OF STANDARD AS FAR AS THIS COUNTRY IS CONSIGNED which pinnacle? which standard? which country?

i thought any woman with a "hole in between her legs can be a first lady? what's the big deal? is it not an honor that needs to be protected with the right carriage and poise? is she too big to be schooled? what are you guys excusing her laziness for?

what do you mean by "she has made it"?from wife of teacher, Local government Chairman, deputy governor, governor, vice president and now president she can not construct a simple sentence; and somebody is crying foul for an observation made.

instead of burying your heads in shame you are busy attacking courageous people that are helping her to reform and take the correct shape of a first lady.

don't you know there is a difference between a fish seller and first lady?

haba; if she is not english why speak english in the first place? those that love her should contact her and advise her appropriately instead of aimlessly and fruitlessly attacking progress seeking citizens here.

@poster

IBB is the man.

all of them including those not mentioned have done (and are still doing) badly, in terms of governance; but IBB is more charismatic, collected and focused. He seems to be more determined now than during his previous adventure which was mixed with youthful exuberance.

i don't like IBB but if heis the one to bring nigeria out of this quagmire, then i'm ok with that. Jonathan has shown he is not (and will not be)ready for meaningful governance in an undivided nigeria.

i agree with IBB totally that the youth are not ready for governance at the level of president. just look at the governors, members of natioanl assembly, members of state assemblies, local government chairmen, commissioners, politcal appointees, councillors, bank managers, etc. etc. majority of them are youth and they have concentrated in looting every single collective asset put in their custody in trust due to their poistions in society. if you have a free mind, you will cry for this country that has no sizable reasonable youths in power.
PoliticsGej Ranks Dora's Contribution Higher Than Other Nigerians ? by jaybee(op): 10:18am On Oct 08, 2010
I found this blanket recipe of a better naija by GEJ and i thought i could share it with NLders and probably get some more insights from our esteemed comentators.

Excerpts:

President Goodluck Jonathan, in his remark, extolled the former NAFDAC boss for her contribution in the eradication of fake and counterfeit drugs. He said the passion with which she discharged her duties is highly commendable and should be emulated.

He, therefore, urged Nigerians to stop lamenting over the situation of the country but try to contribute to make a change.

"If everyone can contribute 10 percent of what Dora has done, our nation will be a better place," he said.

UNDER HON. GEJ. Few months after UMYA ??

Nigeria has dropped further in the ranking on governance index among countries in Africa.

The country ranks a distant 40th out of the 53 countries in the continent. She is also ranked 13th out of 16 countries in West Africa.

In 2009, Nigeria emerged 35th in the continent.

The latest position was contained in an annual governance index simultaneously released yesterday across the continent by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation.

who cares if gbomo jomo or jomo gbomo exists?

who cares if it is a code name or pen name?

who cares if it is a myth or mystery?

have MEND ever denied press statements issued my the so-called jomo gbomo?

has the so-called jomo gbomo issued threats and the threats carried out; and later acknowledged and admitted?

has the mend ever complained of hacking into their e-mail?

why did it take MEND four (4) days after the criminal bomb blast to deny responsibility?

why would the socalled MEND leaders (not commanders??) hold meeting with government before issuing press (denial) statment?

is that their traditional way of operation and relating to the press?

Na waooo!! nigerian government. kai! this poorly staged shows no longer interrests some of us. try something better.

CrimeRe: Soldiers Batter 3 Lastma Officials! by jaybee(f): 8:36am On Jul 22, 2010
The LASTMA officers-Gbenga Ajayi-Bembe, Akeem Bisiriyu and Abiodun Kayode were battered by the military men while trying to tow a broken down trailer obstructing traffic at Mile 2.

They were immediately rushed to the Gbagada General Hospital for treatment where they were revived after remaining in a state of unconsciousness for sometime.

P.M. NEWS gathered that trouble started when the Head, Zone 5, LASTMA had asked Kayode, the LASTMA towing vehicle driver to go and tow a trailer, which broke down at Mile 2 ‘Oke.’

The owner of the trailer was said to have called in the soldiers and naval officers who came and gave Kayode the beating of his life.

The soldiers successfully removed the trailer that had already been carried by the towing van and drove off while Kayode contacted his boss to come to his rescue, and then chased after the fleeing trailer being driven by the soldiers.

Getting to First Gate, Mile 2, Kayode used his towing vehicle to block the trailer while the soldiers came down and descended on him and beat him mercilessly until he collapsed into a state of unconsciousness, while two other officers came to rescue him.

The other two officers-Ajayi- Bembe and Bisiriyu who came to rescue their colleagues were also thoroughly beaten until they also became unconscious while the soldiers and the naval officers took the trailer away.

Speaking with P.M. NEWS, Kayode narrated the story, saying that “my boss told me to go and tow a trailer which broke down at Mile 2 Oke.  I had already jacked the trailer into the towing van when the owner went to call two soldiers and they beat me up and removed the trailer from the van.

“I called my boss to come to my rescue and I pursued the trailer to first gate and blocked it.  More soldiers and naval officers came and they beat me until I fainted.

“They beat my two other colleagues into unconsciousness and they smashed the windscreen of the towing van.   I was soaked in blood before I passed out.   The area boys in the area also started throwing stones at us.

Now you all believe the LASTMA STORY ? Incredible!!!

Please help me unravel something here

The trailer broke down and was obstructing traffic. It  needed to be towed.

The trailer had been jacked into the towing van.

The time was enough for the trailer driver to assemble soldiers and naval personnel to beat up the Lastma man mercilessly.

The soldiers successfully removed the trailer from the towing van.

The soldiers (may be also trailer mechanics, repaired the trailer immediately) started driving the broken down trailer.

The mercilessly beaten Lastma driver entered his towing van and pursued the soldiers in the (repaired) broken down trailer.

The mercilessly beaten Lastma driver succeeded in blocking the moving (broken down) trailer being driven by the soldiers

PoliticsRe: Emir Blames Failure In Neco On English Premier League by jaybee(f): 4:43pm On Apr 13, 2010
the Emir of Minna in Niger State, Dr Umar Farouq Bahago, has blamed the trend on addiction of Nigerian youth on the English premier league and other football leagues around the world.

The monarch noted the attachment of students to the European league at the expense of their studies, adding that those not involved were either concentrating on hip hop music or other unnecessary things.

The Emir ,  also blamed parents for their failure to monitor the educational pursuits of their children, saying that things of the world had taken over the attention of parents.

He said that for the education sector of the country to be revived, all stakeholders must rise to check the current downward trend, warning that if this is not done, the future of the country could be in jeopardy.
@ edoyad and others

First, there is a first class Emir in Minna, Alh. Dr Umar Farouq Bahago, distinct from the Etsu Nupe. This shows you went for a jamboree, and not service, in Minna as you claimed.

Secondly, the mass failure rate of 98%, without any statistics at all, indicates that the virus cuts across the entire gamut of the nation not just the north as your skewed minds are misdirecting your already polluted thoughts.

Thirdly, look at the emphasized (in bold italics) quotation from the report in question (not the Emir’s direct speech). The man is making a strong case of a grave situation (addiction to sensual vices) at hand, and because of your obsession to these vices, you’ll never see reason in it, thinking, erroneously, he is calling for their broadcast to be barred in Nigerian skies.

I said “look at the emphasized (in bold italics) quotation” because I know (from most responses) most of the posters are just responding to the misleading sensational headline and not the content of the report, as usual in NL.

For the reasonable mind, the Emir’s remarks on the subject matter do not need any further clarification. However, to those imbecilic acute tendencies, who are evidently not in short supply in NL, some patient posters have done a good job of explanation here.

Your consistent show of ignorance and intolerance is making me allergic to this forum.
