alexlee50: does lagos state generate its own electricity? U people will say anything to make fashola look like superman Ya, Lagos state has IPP plants that generates electricity that powers the secretariat, Street lights of the major highways and some public buildings, with plan to power all state hospitals, roads, schools and all public buildings in the state (within the limits permitted by law). they are gas powered and initiated by the BRF administration. By Nigerian law, only the FG can generate power for commercial distribution. States and private individuals can generate private piwers within a limited threshold which Lagos state had complied with. Generating above that threshold means you have to send the excess power to the national grid before commercial distribution which isn't favourable to the states and potential private power generators (investors) Try to google or research Lagos state INDEPENDENT POWER PROJECT to learn more. |

Politics › Re: Thisdaylive Provides Excerpt Of Tape Where Lai Said Economy Was Beyond Control by jaymichael(m): 5:12pm On Mar 13, 2016 |
ShowYourCertificate: And what makes you so confident that the SITUATION he meant was just that of the exchange rate? It seems you also inherited the lying gift from Lai the Lier.
Read the excerpt again. Lai mentioned the SITUATION that's affecting the free fall of the naira. He talked about balance of trade, export/import, fall in crude price. All these are the SITUATION leading to the free fall of the naira and the poor economy. And he said this is beyond the President's control. The SITUATION here is a totality of the forces affecting the economy not just an aspect of it as you claim.
So you see, you lied just like Lai. And you didn't even lie well. You should have said SITUATION meant fall in crude price rather than exchange rate. How can you say the exchange rate is beyond the control of the president? That means you're suggesting he's incompetent in boosting the value of the naira. Well, I agree with you on that. Do you just want to appear plain ignorant or just plain sillly? The question the minister was asked (if you didn't read it) was about the DISCIMFORTING FALL OF RHE NAIRA recently. To the above, the minister gave his answer. He started by giving the relationship between import and export and balance of trade as it affects the local currency. He explained further that our unfavorable balance of trade is largely responsible for the fall in naira value, occasioned largely by the fall in the price of crude oil world wide which in itself is a global phenomenom. Drop in Global demand for oil relative to "over" supply, brings down the price of oil vice versa. Is this under the control of Nigeria's government? Sadly NO. Not only is the minister right, his statement was miscontructed. |
Politics › Re: Lai Mohammed's Interview, My Take by jaymichael(op): 3:49pm On Mar 13, 2016 |
My attention was drawn to a thread on this forum https://www.nairaland.com/2987431/ben-bruce-blast-lai-mohammed All these youths shouting Lai lied, did you listen to the interview? did you read or have you seen the original transcripts of the interview? There was a statement and you chose to believe it. The person that made the purported statement has turned out to deny it, you chose not to believe and even brandish him a lier, even without having access to the original full interview. If you youths of these days can't handle simple information properly, how can you lead (tomorrow) effectively? The "distinguished" online senator issued a statement based on "media" report which is prone to distortion should have known better or if he wants it to seem right the position of some opinions that he is just an "attention seeker" It's just pathetic if the latter is the case. I won't play advocate for Lai if he really made the statement attributed to him. If his statement was truly "distorted", as he claims, it goes to show how deep the hatred some people have for this government that they don't want anything good but bad news from this government and are secretly praying the government fails. I won't comment on the issue until the media house publish the complete recording or the transcript of the interview. Lastly, what is my own opinion is that constructive criticism is our INALIENABLE RIGHTS as citizens of a DEMOCRATIC country and I as an individual pledge my support for this government (whether I like the government or hate it) to move this country forward. Whether I hate or like the President (and his officials) If the government performs well, it will be for the benefit of Nigeria and Nigerians. God help the government, God bless Nigerians. |

Same thing with Warri to Port Harcourt expressway which the dual is on swamp terrain. If the dualised roads are not new roads, what are they?
Was Osibanjo expecting Jonathan to build road through sambisa forest? And were those "rehabilitated" roads completed before GEJ left office? |
