Krucifax: Definitely during my F.G.C Kwali, Abuja days in the early 90s. Used correctly it gives a near perfect ironed clothing.
Caution has to be used with white fabrics, especially when the coal embers start to die,b'cos you'll be blowing it with your breath or an improvised fanning device (i.e notebook, slippers, empty cut out cornflakes box,e.t.c).
But as we moved from Junior to Senior secondary,it was considered "ras" to use one. You had to use electric iron or form like you were using one.Memories i so miss Naija!!
Good to know of a fellow "Kwalian" out there!

Finished 93 set...

Charcoal iron burnt my favourite white shirt in JS2... I wore it like that wiv all those holesss...

Christianity Etc › Re: Christianity For Christians. by Jeezuzpick(m): 7:31pm On Jun 10, 2012
LagosShia: Going by the sad reality in the Islam forum,i am forced to say that that section is not an Islam forum anymore.it is a wahhabi terrorist forum.Shia Muslims are randomly banned and silenced.

i think for the sake of fairness,i as a Muslim do support christians having their own section.i would also beg the owner of the forum to consider having separate "Shia Islam Section" and "Sunni Islam Section".the Islam section should be divided into two.there should be nothing as "religion forum".instead we should have "Atheism and Philosophies Section".

this may sound somewhat strange to those who do not know the reality of the forums.afterall when there were non or little Shia members on nairaland not actively taking part in religious discussions, the Sunnis were given a section to part them from non-muslims.i think what is good for the goose is also good for the gander.now the Sunnis and their support for wahhabism aka salafism is becoming an uncurable virus in the Islam section especially with a mod that is intolerant of Shia Muslims, like myself expressing themselves and airing their views he is not aware of or displeased with.
Y'know,
Aaaaahhhh....
I wonder how exclusivism is going to help any faith to grow......
Having an exclusively Christian or Sunni or Shia Section is like preaching the Gospel only in Church. Okay, lets say you do that and invite non believers to attend Church to hear the Gospel. That may work, right? in the same vein, won't "outsiders" be at liberty to visit your section and comment as they see fit?
All that will be achieved is two or three Religion sections that are virtual clones of each other!
It's sad that peeps say all kinds of stuff about God, but it's a sad world we live in....and we're in it together. Comprende?

Why are we having so many mishaps repeatedly all of a sudden?
Ever seen a termite infested roof collapse before?
It happens all of a sudden, as a result of YEARS of the tiny insects gradually eating away at the structure.
At the point of collapse, when the collapse has begun, what can be done to save the structure?
If your answer is "nothing", then may I ask another question: what do you think can be done for this our country, eaten away over the years?
Don't blame those asking for Divine intervention. If Naija can be saved, house, there's no other way.
PRAY!!!
Family › Re: Our Attitude Towards Teenage Pregnancy by Jeezuzpick(m): 11:31am On Jun 08, 2012
Sagamite: Why should I take it just as hard if it is my son that got someone pregnant?

What is wrong if I don't take it such as hard?
Sagamite,
I asked that question hoping to provoke a rection such as yours.
The reason for your answer is the same reason why Teenage Pregnancy will continue and the girls should not be crucified for getting pregnant.
Why do I say this?
A parent not minding his/her son having a girlfriend or getting a girl pregnant as much as his/her daughter having a boyfriend or getting pregnant smacks just a little bit of hypocrisy!
Why will a parent guard his/her daughter from wolves and allow his/her son to be a wolf?
Family › Re: Our Attitude Towards Teenage Pregnancy by Jeezuzpick(m): 9:05am On Jun 08, 2012
@All, Y'know what?
It's not easy to take, learning that your lovely girl is pregnant, the girl you had grand plans for, who had always made you proud...How could she!!!
Now,
Before we all get carried away, will you take it just as hard if your son got sm1 preggers...?
Even if you can lie to yourself and say yes to the above question, answer this: now it has happened, what next? You still love her, right? is it the end of life?
I don't support premarital sex, in fact I got marries as a 33 year old virgin (can you handle that?)
However, I married a single parent, put in the family way at the tender age of 16. Her daughter-my stepdaughter-just wrote Post UTME yesterday.
I have two handsome boys by her and I am thankful to God for giving me such a wonderful woman.
My little contribution to this thread is, do all you can, within reason, to forestall teenage pregnancy. If it happens, make the best of it! Don't abort!!!
Peace.

vicoloni: A close friend of mine just called to inform me that a young lady whom he just met casually recently just called and told him she is pregnant for him. He was still trying to absorb this rather funny claim only for her elder sister to call and rain threats on him.

My friend is a practising xtian and happily married with children. He claimed to have given her a lift about a month ago because she is the younger sister to a former neighbour.

If I didnt know my friend very well i would not have doubted the girl's claim.

Kindly offer advise on what he should do. I have a feeling some people are just trying to smear his good public name. My friend is a respected minister of God in my area.

Regards.

Really sad!!!

I only wish all these celebs have time for real friends;

what they can get from you.

Whitney could've been saved if she had a true friend

Weeeellll,

My take on this matter.

A couple of factors can cause this,
Language, facial expressions, general mood and temperament,
STRESS!!!!

Can you feel me?

How many of you guys have run into old classmates and seen
a sad story staring back at you? I have.

I looked really bad when I worked at my last job, and, I daresay,
my looks have improved since I changed my job a few months ago!

I submit I'll probably look even better if I lived under even better
conditions.

the big C.O.R.K may have a point here, but he sucked big time in

Properties › Re: 6 Storey Building Collapses At Maryland Area Of Lagos State by Jeezuzpick(m): 8:48pm On Oct 27, 2011
In Nigeria, we construct Reinforced Concrete Framed Structures.

Problem is, we use portal frames, made up of only Columns and
Beams, bearing the Slabs and Walls.

So, like in the picture, what happens is that the central Columns,
which are subject to greater loading than those closer to the perimeter
(edges) are more susceptible to failure.

What we need to do is to introduce RC Shear Walls to serve as the core
of the Buildings. They traditionally house the lift wells and conveniences,
so we don't need to pass pipes through the Columns and Beams as is
the current practice.

Of course, the magomago wey contractors dem dey do na anoda
wahala,

I wish NSE and COREN can be empowered to carry out unscheduled
visits to construction sites to enforce adherence to Building Standards.

Plus, the practice of making Reinforcement Bars out of old, rusty metal
scraps doesn't help, either.

Politics › Re: Boko Haram Vows To Keep Killing Nigerians Till Demands Are Met by Jeezuzpick(m): 12:40pm On Sep 28, 2011
With all violent Islamic groups the world over, the MO is the same:

Peace will reign only when they are happy; they are happy only when:

1) Islam reigns supreme, and Sharia replaces the Constitution.

2) All women are degraded.

3) All ties with the Western World are severed.

4) True Democracy (not like we even have that in Naija) is buried.

If you doubt this, make time for a brief study of Turkey, more than 90%
Muslim, but with a decidedly secular Constitution.

Latest developments show that the present Government has weakened the Military,
long-standing custodians of the Country's Secularist stand.

The ultimate aim is to return Turkey to what it once was as the centre of the Ancient
Ottoman Empire. The proponents will not rest until that is done. (90+ % Muslim Nation)

What do you think will happen in the case of Nigeria?

If in Turkey, the Fundamentalists are pushing their own fellow Muslims to submit to
their agenda, do you think they will be less persistent with Kaffirs (Infidels)?

Can FG afford to even think of negotiating with Boko Haram?

You can't negotiate with a neighbour who wants your house and land for himself.

You can't negotiate with a man who will rather kill you than let you convince him.

You can't negotiate with a man who won't hesitate to kill your wife and kids just
to prove a point!

On the other hand, I can't advocate extermination, ethnic cleansing, genocide, whatever.

Government should just improve security, focus on Counter Terrorism, and please,

DO WHAT THEY ARE IN POWER TO DO!

Provide all missing infrastructure, improve quality of life, make all of us proud of this Country.

General apathy and even increasing antipathy toward the Nation due to failure of Government
is enough to cause youth restiveness (look at Niger Delta for example), without adding fuel of
Religious Fanaticism to it!

Boko Haram, or whatever else, is like AIDS. Not curable, but can be managed.

Well, at least, that's how I see it.

I don too talk, sef, de matter pain me too much.

@ All,

And so, the war spills onto the pages of Nairaland!

Why can't Nigeria be split?

Why can't the so-called "Great Mistake" be righted?

Why can't the people be allowed to say FOR THEMSELVES
where their loyalties lie?

ONCE AND FOR ALL?

The answer is simple. It is also the answer to this question:

WHAT IS NIGERIA RIGHT NOW?

Answer:

A meal ticket for a few, who wish to keep Nigeria
as it is, a hopeless state teetering on the verge of failure,
where corruption is practiced on a grand scale, where they
(the said few "Power Brokers"wink feed fat and reserve more than
enough for generations of descendants yet unborn to engorge
upon.

A RAT RACE, going in circles, while "Tortoises" catch up with
and even overtake us!

This is Nigeria, and it will NOT fall apart, as long as the sticky,
smelly, gooey stuff called CORRUPTION holds it together!

The "Chop make I Chop" Formula that allows our clueless
Political class to "Disagree to Agree".

Just watch!

See what will happen. The crazy lot we have as our leaders will
"lead" us on a convoluted labyrinth of a wild goose chase that
will, in the end, favour nobody but them!

Just wait.
