like ptbnaija said, it maybe because they mistake you for an akata and they're not interested in that. just let them know you're nigerian and maybe they'll be more interested.
Poster, The chicks are not INTO YOU. GET OVER IT.
lol. very frank. |
@omonaija, you could do some internships and get a masters in public health. It's very highly regarded nowadays. even doctors are going back to school to study public health in order to boost their career. |
the way US deal with inflation is by tinkering with interest rates, govt spending, taxes etc. inflation is caused by too much soft money circulating in the economy. govt printing too much money. so all they need to do is stop. |
cap28:perfectly said. I thought we paid off our loans. what are we still doing with IMF? ![]() they definitely are purposely using their conditionalities to screw us over. |
OMG NOOOOOOooooooo!!!!! I knew it. GEJ has been playing puppet to the west for a while now. he better not accept this one On Devaluation, why has it worked for China, and why can't we make it work for us in similar fashion?China is a net exporter of manufactured goods. so IMF (west) will actually want China to raise it's currency. because china has basically killed a lot of western industry. due to cheap imports because of china's low currency exchange. we nigerians are not a manufacturing country. the only cheap exports will be our OIL.we will be selling our oil for cheap!! and because we are not a manufacturing country, we will be consuming imported manufactured goods at a higher price!! it's a total win-lose situation. ![]() |
ah thanks @Kilode?!!! you're awesome for some reason I think GEJ is reaching out a lot. even with the west. I hope it will all eventually work out in our favor.
true that. however, he still needs to be cautioned.
he is a goat that will never heed to caution. his IP address needs to be banned. |
tpiah, I would just ignore the fool. seriously, it's not worth it. |
We were not "at war" with SA per se, but with the apartheid regime that kept Black South Africans down. You see, Nigeria, although ruled by those we can call despotic leaders, Ironically had a foreign policy in the 60s and 70s that saw her acting in support of several liberation movements across Africa. The Obasanjo regime supported Mandela's ANC for example, We provided millions of dollars, intelligence, and accommodation for oppressed and exiled Black leaders of the ANC. Mr Thabo Mbeki the former SA President was at a point living in Nigeria during the struggle and fully supported by the Nigerian government. I think we gave out millions in aid to Namibia too and one or two African countries had a Nigerian acting as their Chief Justice at a point. We were very involved. We had some ok foreign policy ideas early on, but maybe because they were not rooted in strong idealistic foundations, we failed to use our leverage to secure a better, stronger position for ourselves in Africa. We will get there though I believe so. I'm too lazy to do a more comprehensive post now, but you can actually google a lot of our past Foreign/Africa policy exploits and learn more.
Do you know why Nigeria was so involved in SA? what was our motive beside the regular "wanting to rid SA of injustice"? what kind of relationship did we have with SA during apartheid era? how did this relationship change post apartheid? when you become less lazy. pls do a more comprehensive post but you don't have to if you don't want to |
ha. all these foreign Messrs Rockson Engineering Ltd/Rockson International Group , Messrs Coyne et Bellier etc they are just draining our reserves. |
yea kabna. btw can you not post in all caps. it's considered rude u kno |
wow. a post without insults. i'm happy Nigeria and South Africa were at war and there was a fear of South Africa launching an atack on Nigeria.why was SA at war with Nigeria? I think our diplomacy is weak. maybe it was stronger in the past. |
Kabna. lol. yea. I admire ghana and it's people too. sometimes I really dislike the whole rivalry thing. but some will argue that it's friendly competition. so don't be pissed jeez ![]() |
for me, mali is SSA north sudan is North African south Sudan is SSA in the past, I have always considered sudan as part of SSA in some aspect but not part of SSA in other aspects (ex. their government etc). so it depends. I don't understand why we are still trying to categorize complex issues into black and white. this idea of "facts" is sometimes very false. even most of what we consider facts were opinion of some people who just happen to write them in textbooks. ex social constructions depending on the angle you use to look at it, ghana may be the first and if you choose to look at it in a different way, sudan may be the first. just decide for yourself what you believe. |
sharrap dia. can't you answer a question without insults. I know for sure that liberians are forever grateful for our help. even the citizens I meet always tell me that nigeria helped them gain freedom. but we shouldn't take too much advantage of our position because the admiration will quickly turn sour. sometimes I wish nairaland had experts. people you can learn from/ look up to. definitely haven't found any semblance of that here yet |
beeke:what big brother role did we play in SA? did we sign a treaty? A treaty should definitely signed if we help Sudan. nothing comes for free. |
Longlife01:let's help them small. just for future purposes |
oh ok I see. thanks for the clarification btw, as I said, i'm from Denmark. not latvia. |
fstalker3, how am i supposed to know? i'm from denmark. not latvia your time on NL would be terribly boring without me heh? |
marabout:I agree with you. besides this is another good opportunity for nigeria to build diplomatic relationships outside of our border. It will help us later down the run when we need a favor/ allies etc. |
deniyor:how many times have you been sent to the dog house? lol seems you really are interested in this guy by counting all your posts on this topic. |
Kobojunkie is pro advanced education for the masses. I'm not. I'm more interesting in practical skills, not useless booklarnin'
why are you being apologetic. why do you care so much what he thinks about you? |
texazzpete:I agree. we should praise what we see is good. but we also should not hesitate to criticize when we see something wrong. we are all looking out for the best for Nigeria that's all. |
and I wonder what evidence you have that i'm latvian/ non-nigerian. there is no indication that they are only speaking about what the British thought. It seemed hat was your actual view and I asked a question about why you held those views, but if you were only speaking for the British colonials, then that's another thing and it really was my mistake. My motivation was to engage in a factual discussion of this claim and if you could convince me that this original statement was actually reasonable I would have conceded, but it seemed like an assertion to me.and in a consequent post, I clarified what I mean. how did I repeat it as a fact then? I really don't see your point. maybe I should have used the word "civilized" instead of "organized" I still believe you know what I mean but are just trying to argue for no reason. I don't even know why you are making a big deal out of it because it doesn't have much to do with the topic question. My original point was that although the british favored northerners organization(or insert your preferred word choice here ) structure, there wasn't much incentive to build the region. and the northerners resisted as well due to their relatively developed state at the time. And the ignorant statement below about Northerners was not made by me so I hope you meant to address somebody else.srry about that. It was probably Sefago. yea have a nice day ![]() |
^^^^^ Right again! Lady, I do admire your patience and tenacity, unfortunately you are dealing with guys in real denial. Sadly, they will never see your point because their bigoted minds are like concrete - ALL MIXED UP AND PERMANENTLY SET. Its useless, they will never accept the facts before them but will be trying to rewrite history. Yep, sure you are entitled to your opinion.
I definitely agree with you on many points. |
fstranger3:post has being modified ![]() |
why are you pissed that I assumed you were yoruba? I made the assumption based on your relation with the poster below me. besides you also have made false assumptions about my origin. My contention was with your repetition of the so-called organizational superiority of the North over the southern communities as though it were actually a fact. I can't see how anybody could familiarize themselves with the actual details of the organizational systems of many (but not all) southern groups and reach the conclusion that the British were actually correct; that's why I told you to go read and then get back to me.I don't know what you are on about. I never repeated it as a fact. I even mentioned many times that I was speaking from a british perspective. It was their opinion. not mine. So you are free to contend with the british on that one. not me. yes all cultures have complex systems of organization. that is a very subjective topic. but I'm talking about a system that is more suited to "civilized" British taste. It wasn't just the culture that they admired. they also admired their system of administration. I repeated many times that i was speaking on what the British thought. The british rationale. you are the one who needs to go and read for making such an ignorant statement as this one below. you obviously have base assumptions about northerners. There is no difference in the potential of the North but in their culture, a culture which unfortunately might possibly be incompatible with entrepreneurship, independence, and a quest for education and self-reflection. The first step would be to change that culture. |
this is cool. Governor Fashola expressed his worry at the recent policy shift by the Federal Government which allows importation of furniture, toothpick, textiles and vehicles of 15 years into the country.couldn't have said it better!!! |
@Carlosein This is Lola from the North Pole competition. Unfortunately it seemed one of the Nairaland administrators blocked this thread just hours before the deadline, saying it was spam. And so we lost by only 3 votes. Only 3 votes.
that's sad. I thought I saw it on the front page. why did it become spam all of a sudden? ![]() I wish you all d best in future endeavors. u tried!! ![]() |
Eko Ile:i'm busy watching you lick their butts what a puppet |
Kobojunkie:lol. seems you know the routine all too well. I definitely will keep out of that one. |
wow nice pics. although some were a little too graphic for my liking. |
