David nothin do you jare, issall good. As you rightly noted, I didn't respond to the points you raised earlier - and I did so on purpose. Reasons I hope be already obvious.

Anyways . . . you are right in that Hillary's quote is rendered considerably less potent when taken in context of the transcript. I first heard the story in passing, and looked it up on youtube. I even tried to get the longest video - and not from FN self - I could find so as to get the whole story (who goes searching for transcripts of speeches anyways? only David perhaps?  grin)

So thanks for bringing in a broader perspective - that I appreciate as me I no get anything to lose now. So while the quote is less potent when not standing on its own, I would insist that it is still not impotent. To say something like that and insert "Obama knows this" still takes guts and is indicative of the fact she's not chicken about speaking her mind - something she's done consistently since becoming SOS.
LMAO! . . . .she is one of only three democrats worthy of that attribute. Beside herself the other two are her husband and Nancy Pelosi. Every other demmy beside these three got a po-ssie. cheesy

Ater careful thought on the party switching, yeah, you are right. . .as a former first lady on democrat ticket, she has a legacy to protect
I think in any election, for a prospective candidate, the biggest challenge is to simply present themselves as a viable replacement for whoever is currently in office. And when you have a perfect political storm like we do now - its anyones game.

And oh, I don't share the same respect for Pelosi. I think the woman is . . . . weird grin. And don't ask why, but I like Joe Biden a lot. Of all the prominent Dems, I trust him . . . erhm as far as a person can "trust" a politician that is.

Negro its the spambot that axed your last post . . . I've sent a pm to the admin to untag it.

Meanwhile I still no gree oh. Hillary pitching tent with the tea party? not in a million years. Na me talk am. She's proven to be a fantastic secretary of state though. I've been very impressed by her no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is approach when she's in the company for foreign leaders. Her testicular fortitude is indeed much greater than we all estimated lol.

Me complimenting Hillary? kai! the world is upside down  cheesy

If she was execueted for plotting to kill, what about those that did the actual killing, why the lesser? sentence of life imprisonment?,
The mastermind behind a crime is more culpable than the foot soliders sent to exectue to crime. Enticing 2 men through sex and promise of cash to kill your husband and step son for $250,000? How low can a person go?

and you said instead of taking responsibility for her action and at the same time you are saying she sincerely apologized to the surviving family?(her Husband's family),
She did not take responsibility by trying to stay her execution and blame her crime on some cooked-up "mentally retarded" diagnosis. She should've simply apologized in the begining like she did at the end, and trust me, people such as myself would be far far more sympathetic.

what is disturbing in this is why the rush to execute her? what of those who did the actual murder? why the lesser sentence? well guess the law like to pounce on less intelligent criminals than the real bad backside.
The crime happened in 2002, she's executed in 2010. How is that a "rush" to execute her?  huh  they should keep her for 20 yrs first?

An American grandmother diagnosed with borderline mental retardation has been executed despite thousands pleading for her execution to be canceled.
Abeg make we hear word jor lol.

Anytime convicts and criminals want to escape facing the punishment for their gruesome crimes they find some bottom-of-his-class, rent-a-doctor to 'diagnose' them and cry "mental disorder" instead of taking responsibility for their actions. "The voices in my head made me do it" "I was under mental duress hence did not have control over my actions" "the wine and beer I drank caused me to dissociate from my mental faculties hence I cannot be held responsible since I could not control myself" . . . and on and on. I for one am tired of all these escapist tactics. Someone who orchestrated the murdering of her husband and son just to land a payday? disgusting and good riddance. kai! men I'm harsh today oh!

I'm glad though that it is reported she was sincerely apologetic towards the surviving family. May God forgive her.

From link:
Don't Go There: Lagos, Nigeria
DANGEROUS PLACES: Perhaps one of my least-favorite places in the world is Lagos, Nigeria. It may be the country’s richest city, but it’s crowded, it’s ugly, it’s dangerous, and it’s not a place I’d recommend anyone visit unless you’re really into adventure travel. Lagos is a city of 15 million people (and growing) crammed into a space meant for half a million. It’s got inadequate infrastructure, unimaginable poverty and an often blatantly corrupt government that’s not interested in putting any of the city’s oil wealth toward its people.
I'm still trying to figure out which part of this is not true. However, while Lagos in general may not be a desirable destination, it still has some beauty and intrigue - there I will disagree with the writer.

You need to read more international news then. Walking out to express disapproval is not new. The Arab nations do it infrequently especially when Israel and palestine is up for discussion.

Its quite strange. You take everything remotely critical or negative said against Obama so serious and personal.

One last comment and then I'll leave you to yourself - If you would stop long enough to think beyond your blind devotion, you would see that suggesting Hillary may want to run for president in 2 yrs is not altogether a thought strange or unique to one party. Democrats as well as repubs have suggested the idea - and I'm not sure how that is an insinuation so provoking you have to gate-crash a thread, guns blazing, calling everybody else's opinion 'drivel' 'silly' etc . . . but then, I guess that is just your style - hot-air and no manners. If not for I respect you so much I wouldn't even bother at all.

Foreign AffairsRe: Farrakhan Confirms West's Involvement In Abacha's assassination by JeSoul(f): 8:23pm On Sep 22, 2010
Before proceeding lemme just say Cap I appreciate the effort and time you took to write the above. You've articulated your point very clearly and I appreciate a good read. Now . . .
cap28:
Farrakhan is a very knowledgeable and learned man, he is not an illiterate rabblerouser but a man who has travelled widely and who has access to vast amounts of information.
Illiterate? Farrakhan is far from it, I agree with you on that.

Where I sharply dissociate myself is on how he uses his intelligence. His comments and interviews are a matter of public record so no need to rehash here. But someone who is regular bedfellows with the likes of Gaddafi and who's who in Anti-Semitic circles, it leaves little to the imagination. And taking the cake among the top most ridiculous were his comments that the H1N1 were developed (insinuating by whites) to depopulate the earth. No common . . . this is who you want us to take lessons in wisdom from?

The mistake you continue to make is that you think that racists are those guys who walk around in white sheets and who openly exhibit racist behaviour, to be honest you are missing the point, the real racism that hurts blacks is institutionalised racism which is where you have a whole system set up with the objective of subjugating, oppressing and disadvantaging one group of people while simultatenously assisting, benefiting and advancing the progress of another group - that is the type of racism that hurts, destroys and damages blacks and that is the type of racism that I am talking about.  The reason that it hurts blacks disproportionately is because most blacks cannot influence govt policy, do not own enough businesses in which to employ other blacks and on the whole have virtually no economic or political power or influence within the white supremacist system.
Au contraire my friend, not sure how you reached that conclusion when infact I said just the opposite . . .
JeSoul:
Cap, are there still white-supremacist-establishment powers-that-be working tirelessly against blacks? I have no doubt that is true.
While I agree on some levels with the rest of your quote, I do not think this conspiracy is as deep or should I say far-reaching as you believe. I guess I do not have any evidence to support my belief either. I have seen enough blacks around me succeed in diverse careers of choice, and see we handicap ourselves by waiting endlessly for 'reparations' instead of going out and working hard. Blacks make up what? 20% of the U.S population? you cannot expect a minority population to be have major representation in all fields - I'm speaking to your quote down here now:

Lets use america as an example: In 1940's america various pieces of legislation were enacted to enable white americans easy access to cheap housing, but blacks were specifically excluded from benefitting from this  despite being law abidign tax payers, banks refused to grant loans to blacks to enable them obtain mortgages with low interest rates in suburbs and the few who managed to raise a large enough deposit as a down payment met with screaming white lynch mobs  who ran them out of their neighbourhoods.  This practice undertaken by the banks was known as redlining, it was based on the fact that mortgage loan officials drew red lines on maps around neighbourhoods which were inhabited predominantly by blacks indicating that those areas were to be excluded from the cheap loans that were on offer at the time.
Now this is just one example amongst many, i might add of govt organisations that act in conjunction with other organisations to keep blacks in a position of poverty and servitutude whilst assisting whites to progress and move up the socio economic ladder.

Here is what redlining means:

Redlining is the practice of denying, or increasing the cost of, services such as banking, insurance, access to jobs,[2] access to health care,[3] or even supermarkets[4] to residents in certain, often racially determined,[5] areas. The term "redlining" was coined in the late 1960s by John McKnight, a Northwestern University sociologist and community activist.[6] It describes the practice of marking a red line on a map to delineate the area where banks would not invest; later the term was applied to discrimination against a particular group of people (usually by race or sex) no matter the geography. During the heyday of redlining, the areas most frequently discriminated against were black inner city neighborhoods. Through at least the 1990s this practice meant that banks would often lend to lower income whites but not to middle or upper income blacks.[7]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redlining
Thanks for the quick history lesson. I do agree blacks have endured for the longest time the very short end of the national stick and being granted equal and the full spectrum of rights and citizenship only recently, one cannot expect a sudden shift in gloryhood of blacks. It will take time, perhaps a very long time for the bitter taste of discrimination and racism to leave the nations mouth.

But at the same time, I can't help but feel - and a feeling driven mostly by personal experience - that blacks cry foul too many times when there is no foul. Play the racism card when infact they simply weren't qualified. This makes it harder to identify, distinguish and weed out real discrimination.

And I think Farrakhan is fueling a 'we're-the-victim' mass sentiment among blacks that is mostly an emotional glass house, built and nourished mostly on past (and some present) racism and not rooted in substance.

All of the above situations that you have mentioned are SYMPTOMS of an oppressive system that has its roots in a much greater problem which was created by white oppression.
and we come back full circle to the main problem I have had . . . so all the crime and corruption rampant in Nigeria is not really our fault abi? its symptoms of the real problem that was caused by the white man?  huh  dude common!

You heard Hillary's comments few weeks ago right? about how America's increasing debt is becoming a threat to national security as it forces alliances and concessions that would not normally be had.

I took that as the first battle shot at Obama.
