Hi everyone, It's been quite an age - and a refreshing moment to visit the Forum again and be blessed with this thread. So far so good - keep it up y'all.
Hey Pilgrim, if no one else has expressed it, you have been missed in this forum . I hope all has been well with you and your soul. Welcome back ![]() and as always you have set Alhaji straight . . . its a small wonder why he keeps on being attracted to the christian threads ![]() Gamine:Gamine you gave me the shock of a lifetime! . . . https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-118553.0.htmlI still can't believe it . . . |
iice, even you gotta admit the womens final was a highly entertaining match . Jankovic made the match enjoyable with her casual and fun attitude, I very much enjoyed her antics. Congrats to Serena! though I wish it were my homegurl VenusAnd ya'll shoulda seen my jubilation when Murray did us a favor & rid the U.S. open of those capris, down Nadal! . Murray's star is rising faster than I expected, but no one will stand in the way of the FedExpress snagging his 13th slam ![]() |
Leilah:True. that's another potential market Amaka, foreign women married to Nigerian men would be all over it. |
@JeSoulThat is your opinion and not a fact. If she's so fanatical and polarizing, why does she have an 80% approval rating in her state? Yes she's got strong views but from her record I don't see where they have stopped her from doing her job. It's simple some people like her and some don't. To each his own, I have stated my reasons whether or not you agree is your own cup of tea. "honest, diehard, everyday woman, who's not afraid to fight the status quo."The people closest to her, seen her and lived in her state, her citizens say that she is, her history says that she is but we should take your opinion that she isn't? I dislike Palin, do not assume I am an Obama supporter for that.I never assumed anything, I don't think I even quoted or directed any of my post at anyone specifically. Please go back to my post I said 99% of Obama supporters. |
The bible says "all things work for the good of those who love and trust in God". Even now in your hurt God will bring about good from it and comfort your heart with His indescribable joy and grace. It is well with you brotha. |
I have a question for Obamaniacs, Since Sarah Palin is such a horrible pick then why are you all so infuriated by it? If its a bad pick then McCain has shot himself in the foot and he will lose - abi no be so? If it's true she's got no experience, hasn't got anything of substance then she will fail. What I don't get is the level of venom that is being spewed on her & her fam, it's unwarranted, if she's nothing more than a hockey mom then Dems should be sleeping well for the next 59days. Right? ![]() |
dreeldee:Dreel, I don't believe Kobo was refering to you in his comment. Seun:Lol. . . and what's wrong with that? Seun look at your forum here, look at african americans you see how many black people are 'voting' for Obama just because he is black? Why shouldn't the reps play the same game as well? |
Kobojunkie:I know, I too have been very dissappointed by some remarks from some NLers I thought had a level head on their shoulders. I guess their zeal and fanatical desire to see Obama "the one" in the white house suppresses and inhibits their ability to think and reason objectively and honestly. It's scary more than anything else. The real question is why do they feel so threatened by Sarah Palin? to warrant these kinds of ferocious and venomous attacks? |
AMAKAONE:I think that's a fantastic idea. I would buy it . Maybe the older Africans who've been cooking before they left home might not be too hot on it but I think the younger generation, eager to connect with their heritage will be your market. |
KarmaMod:Well I did say 99% . . . perhaps you're in the 1 objective %, but it seems guilty conscience betrayed you here ![]() and what exactly is it about her that is so "Christian"? because she's "pro-life" and anti sex education? That's what makes a Christian? seriously? My dear a quick wikipedia and ask.com or cnn.com or foxnews.com search will show you her history and choices and stance on certain issues, that's what makes her christian not just that she says she's one. How about the fact that she said the Iraq War was a reward for God?a statement that I disagree with but that's not enough to irrationally dismiss everything else she's done or stands for. or the madness of her trying to get her ex brother in law in trouble so her sister can get sole custody of their kids?an allegation that has not been proven that is being propagated as fact by those who dislike her. Running her mouth about O being merely a community organizer? since when is that a sin, without them this country would be complete garbage. He first took a jab at her, she defended herself by saying in comparison to her mayor responsibilities, a community org is lesser. Please provide the quote where she 'ran her mouth' in a derogatory way? Point is she hasnt wowed anyone so far cept you JeSoullol . . . millions of Americans all over the country are blogging and writing and loving her, 80% approval rating in her gov state . . . if you think Jesoul is the only one who likes her, well, I'll leave you to persist in that illusion. You know its okay if you don't like Palin, it really is that's your perogative and I don't sweat u for that. Anyway we shall see how she does on the debates.Indeed we will. And if she's nothin more than an a hockey mom, it will be shown too. |
The ease with which Novak beat Andy in the first two sets must be very dissappointing to Roddicks camp . . . even after skipping the Olympics and other warm-ups so he could rest and be ready . . . very dissapointing. I expected a much more competitive match. Roddick's window is closing very very fast - it's too bad he's playing in the Era of Federer/Nadal else he'd have 5-6 majors . . . same as Mickelson, Singh, Garcia and others playing in the Tiger Woods Era. iice:My |
carmelily:LOL . . . the question of the year has just been asked. |
SeanT21: SeanT you can't ask me that question, I like you so I can't give you an 'unprejudiced' answer ![]() Kobojunkie:oh so you think he's just an obama-guy not necessarily a Dem? |
bezco:Bezco thanks for sharing. There is one small nugget that I got from this parable a while back. In the version in Mk 4 verse 20 says "Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—thirty, sixty or even a hundred times what was sown." The seeds that fell on good soil, why did some yield 30-fold? others 60-fold? and others 100-fold? why the different levels of fruitfulness? It's becos even within the good soil (us) some still have rocky stones, and some still have thorns & weeds within their good soil, and depending on how much of these stones and weeds we're able to remove and purify from our lives, that will affect whether it'll be 30, 60 or a 100 fold we produce. We all still have sins, shortcomings (rocks n stones = troubles, persecution, worries of life, fleshly desires) that hold us back from fully living the life God intends for us. We must follow the teaching of Paul in throwing off these things, purifying our 'soil' or lives with the word of God and slowly and surely, we will live increasingly fruitful lives - aiming to reach that 100-fold level. Godbless you all! |
I have noticed a trend: 99% of Obamaniacs see nothing praiseworthy in Palin. Hmm . . . any small wonder why? Objectivity in politics is so rare these days as viewpoints are frequently clouded by peoples emotions. As such is the case with oga David in this post. The zeal to coronate Obama president is pulling scales over their eyes as to what Palin has accomplished in her few years in politics and her potential to be so much more. Even if you think she's not 'qualified' to be running, at least be honest enough to recognize what she's done in her few years in office, whether its a small state or not. I don't see any use in 'debating' her credentials because both sides will see it differently. However I'll say that while I'm not a McCain fan, Palin appeals to me as an honest, diehard, everyday woman, who's not afraid to fight the status quo. The democrats & the media are attacking her because she's a potentially huge threat to them. She's a christian, so yes I admit I am prejudiced by that too. I trip for other christians who don't apologize or repent for their biblically based beliefs whether or not they are popular. Obviously she will not appeal to everyone, but I have a hunch that those being drawn to her far outnumber those she might polarize. If she loses along with Mcsame in Nov, she will come back in 8yrs n run for President n win, I hope. ![]() |
OMG I probably know ALL of you on this thread! Gamine: Gamine:That's me and my siblings! GAMINE I LIVED RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO YOU!!! 414. My gosh what a small world. What's your real name? so I can put a face to you.k9:hehe He's fine . I gotta get him to come see this thread . . . |

Sisikill:Sadly. Foreign to too many. |
Bastage you didn't respond to this: JeSoul: Bastage:*Recycled Democratic talking points* I see n understand your whole comment BUT you're just "speculating" on the "possibility" McCain "might" kick the bucket. Are there any real solid facts in your barage of 'potentials'? Alls Jesoul knows is as of Sep 4th, 11:58 am Palin is running for VP of the USA. And even so she has noticeably more experience than a certain community organizer at the top of the Dem ticket. |
Sisikill: lol . . . abeg make you help me ask am oh! National enquirer is now a 'news' source, and I am the heir to the throne of England. |
Away4real, you're not gone yet r you? ![]() away4real:I know Palin is pro-life BUT I'm yet to hear of an account where she's been extremist in attempting to 'enforce' it on others. I have no problem with her having those beliefs. I'm a christian so in many ways I understand and relate to her unrelenting stance on certain issues, not willing to compromise to fit the norm. I stand for the death penalty also on some crimes, right to bear arms no, it has no place in a civilised society, pro life too extrem for me i believe in choices. And please lets get it clear here these views are not christain they are republican. We no longer take an eye for an eyeAnd what's so bad about the 2nd amendment? I have no problem with peoples right to bear arms and protect themselves or enjoy recreational hunting. It's just that we have implement stringent laws on its regulation. I totally agree its such a small issue there are bigger issues but this is what started our discuss. My reference to failed policy was to her abstenance only sex education policy, policy in singular terms, this constitutes part of her education policy. It just doesnt work, again all the sex education in the world wont eradicate the problem but i believe in all cards on the table them we trust God to do his thing. So how is it a failed policy, Daughters choice to have sex is a decison by daughter, daughter is educated in school and brought up practising abstenance only, Abstenance only is a failed policy it doesnt work. because daughter obviously had sex and perhaps remotely knew about condoms, or thought it was unscriptural to use it though she was having sex. If not even if she had sex she wouldnt have been pregnant.I don't think it is extreme at all. Its just logic. If you can say Palin's policy fails because her daughter got pregnant, then the same can be said about God's abstinence laws a failure because we don't always follow it. And its not about forgiveness, I'm sure Palin loves her daughter and 'forgives' her just like God loves n forgives us. And i've always felt that tryin to seperate Religion and politics is a lost cause. People are religious, whether it is christian or atheist and they base their morals on their beliefs, how then can we suddenly expect them to abandon those beliefs when they come into politics? It's not reasonable and history has shown church n state cannot be seperated the way people 'ideally' want it to be. My first question is what room is there when people fail in this pro life agenda, like Bristol must she have the child and marry the father? Are there other choices or options for her?Lets give Palin a chance to answer these questions during the upcoming debates before we conclude that she doesn't have any wiggle room in her strong beliefs. The other issue is where i fundamentally differ with you, McCain will not be a better guard. That perception is part of a larger propangand that has being built over time and is the challenge the Dems have now, to change. Why? tell me a democratic president that didnt defend America when it mattered? Tough talk and quick war decisions to me is not strength. Empathy is not weakness and shouldnt be mistaken for that.I think 'diplomacy' is overated. Not that I'm one to advocate shooting first and asking later but I believe in tough, swift and unequivocal action and reaction. You conceded that those fundamentalist islamic foot-soldiers will always want to kill us, we must be on alert at all time. I propose sympathy and conversation in place of brute force sometimes. It's good to not always be trigger-happy like Republicans are BUT I'D rather have an alert dog, than a docile cat. McCain is better for national security than Obama's kool-aid, Barney lets-all-hug approach. Lets just be real, they hate us and 'dialoguing' is not going to change that. The enemity within the seeds will always be there as scripture teaches us, but thats scripture, can we leave it there. Muslims hate Christains, Jews and everything they stand for, why does America buy Oil from the Saudis where the Mecca is, the home of this so called Islam. This line of arguement is too extreme for a secular society. How so? A secular society? we are seeing the truth of these 'biblical' facts right before our eyes, why does it make a difference that the society itself is not 'christian'? Again i state it would be good if we allow scripture guide us in our personal lives but leave it there, if not what makes us different from the so call islamic extremist that cannot differentiate issues. No my dear, the difference between us and the islamos is that our religion teaches love and tolerance! theirs teaches and trains and commands them to kill us! For a christian, scripture does not stop being applicable in your 'personal life', it is very much alive in everyday political and social situations. My christianity affects my work choice, my actions there, it affects 100% of my political beliefs and I'm not ashamed to say it - and I praise Sarah Palin for not being ashamed to say it either. Thanks sis, i have had good fun debating with you, we would follow up another time.Yes it has we shall be talking again soon I'm sure. |
Bastage:correction: Last I checked Palin is running as VP not president. and since that is your position you must also agree that: any reasonable person would realise that being a community organizer does not automatically qualify one to command the most powerful nation on Earth. |
Big B1:Oh please brotha, they get a story right 1 in every 10,000 baseless accusations. But yes we will wait n see this lie fall back into the bucket of recylced rumors the NE uses as weapons of attack on people they don't like or agree with. |
Kunle don't encourage him! I like that dark godless hole he's been hiding in, the religion board has experienced relative levels of normalcy and reason since his reduced presence. |
Kobojunkie:I wonder oh! Any reasonable person will look at her track record and history and be impressed with what she's accomplished and how well she's beloved in her home state. But an Obamaniac will not becos he/she is usually not familiar with common sense or reason. |
@Sisikill,You sound like an intelligent person and I will welcome an objective debate with you that is based on facts. But if the sarcasm and profanity rocks your world, then enjoy it without me. An e-handshake is welcome anytime. Since I'm in such a good mood after Sarah Palin's roof bursting address yesterday, I will not engage in any rofo-rofo fight with you.
You're not the only one brotha! You shoulda seen the huge smile on my face. Talk about coming out swinging! The lefties are fighting hard to discredit and ruin her cos they know she's a huge threat to their agenda and a future/current star of the Republican party and everyday americans. |
Alhaji, how body? Have you come and gone from Beantown? |
Re: Confirmed: Sarah Palin Had An Affair With Her Huband's Business Associate Laughable. You get your 'news' from the |
The match I'm waiting for with great anticipation: Roddick vs. Djokovic. Ya'll see the Roddick press conference where he took shots at Novak? there's already bad blood, it's going to be fun watching them go at it.The Williams match could have easily gone Venus' way and Fish never had a chance against Nadal in-spite of his fiery 1st set. Murray will need more than those drop shots to beat Nadal - I expect Nadal to win easily. |
Tasma:Sweetie a quick search will suffice, you're not talking to a rookie. If it wasn't explicitly clear from my response I'm a christian who believes firmly & without apologies 100% in the bible. I've been down the road of so-called 'discussions' of 'bible-contradictions' with atheist foot soldiers and have found such undertakings to be a massive waste of time . . . with at least |
JeSoul: bawomolo:okay okay maybe I exaggerated . . . 98% of the atheists on Nairaland are irrational dishonest and have an unhealthy obession against God and a personal agenda to discredit the bible. ![]() |
As soon as I saw your title on the politics spread I said to myself: "NK food aid? Aren't they the ones working & spending furiously on a nuclear weapon"? I don't blame them for accepting, I blame the air-heads sending them "aid" when they can clearly divert the national funds into useful ventures like providing food for its people. It's just too bad its the hard-working people of NK that are suffering because their govt is too preoccupied trying to become a world superpower. |

Her speech on Tuesday was ridiculous and lacked any significance. It was like that of a cheerleader of a prep rally.
