You were one of the people saying Ukrainians are racists for not letting Nigerians and other Africans in the train, what would you call this? Close to 100 Sokoto students in Ukraine both scholarship and self sponsored students were all evacuated to Budapest from Ukraine? Why the segregation now? Why didn’t they try to help the rest? Seriously? |

Politics › Re: Stop The Hypocrisy: Ukraine Treated Black Africans Better Than South Africa Did! by JuanDeDios: 2:25pm On Feb 28, 2022 |
Simran94: The train wasn’t for refugees. It was basically a train to transport people from the part of Ukraine that was under fire. They didn’t allow not just Nigerians but also indians and Ghanaians in because they still had their citizens on the queue. I don’t know where you are getting your reports from but from the video we saw on Aljazeera, the soldiers at the train station asked the Ukrainians on the queue to raise their hands so they could identify and allow them in first before any other set of people.
Also, Indians were later allowed to board the train after they made a call through to the Indian embassy in Ukraine but they said they were not able to reach the Nigerian embassy yet so they couldn’t put them on the train without letting their people know where they are taking them to. I remember a lady shouting to the camera saying that the Nigerian embassy couldn’t be reached so they wouldn’t let them in on the train and that was when some Nigerians started making calls people in Top offices in Nigeria to help them reach the Nigerian embassy. It was all mentioned in the video we watched on Aljazeera. Do you know what a refugee/displaced person is? Apparently not. Black folks running away from a fire should be sent back into the fire until some ambassador picks a call? In any case, you're only talking about one instance. There have been plenty that don't involve any embassy. |
Politics › Re: Stop The Hypocrisy: Ukraine Treated Black Africans Better Than South Africa Did! by JuanDeDios: 2:03pm On Feb 28, 2022 |
Simran94: It’s not racism. During a war, you don’t expect a country to use up all their resources to protect foreigners while their citizens are perishing behind. Same applies to you, you would protect your family first before thinking of helping your neighbors or strangers If black people are prevented from boarding trains that were designated to take refugees and you're a black person and you don't have a problem with that, I don't know what to say to you. You and Reno would be making a bit of sense If only Ukrainians are evacuated first, followed by all others - Europeans, Africans, Arabs, Asians, etc. Here, Africans are being singled out and prevented from boarding trains and are being asked to provide visa to be admitted into a neighbouring country and you're talking about "resources". I hear. Why not extend the same courtesy to South Africans who are merely protecting their "resources" from Nigerians? We're not saying they should extend free education to Nigerians or share iPhone for them. We're saying that all HUMAN LIVES should be prioritised in a WAR SITUATION. And you're talking about resources. What is wrong with you people? |
Politics › Re: Stop The Hypocrisy: Ukraine Treated Black Africans Better Than South Africa Did! by JuanDeDios: 1:49pm On Feb 28, 2022 |
aboyaji: To me, there's nothing bad the Ukrainian Government did to Nigerians in Ukraine.
This is unrest and security breach. Priorities must come first.
Why were even Nigerian citizens in Ukraine running away from the chaos?
Why did they not stand by the Ukrainian Government to fight the war coming from Russia?
You do not run away from your house while your enemy attack, you stand and protect your interest.
Ukrainian soldiers are doing the work while the strangers were running away. So, there's no way same treatment can be given to all. It doesn't happen.
Priorities first.
I don't want to talk about the South African menace. They're worse off. Xenophobia is hell. So you have a problem with SA's xenophobia not are cool with Ukrainian racism. Interesting. |

Catching cruise in France at a time when all other President's are at home coordinating evacuations of their citizens. Is he concerned? Key word here is "final approval". Those in charge of external affairs can recommend a lot. The president only needs to give final approval. I doubt these people are coming up with proposals and the president is turning them down because only southerners are suffering. Remember how Viola Onwuliri made it expensive to mess with Nigerians when she was at the foreign ministry? |

Truth be told, the govt know that majority of Nigerians trapped in Ukraine are Southerners (schooling or working), wetin a Northerner wan go do for Ukraine? Hence the govt is slow in responding. If the warring country was a country that Northerner are many like ( Arab countries), the govt would have been proactive to evacuate them. Govt acting based on vested interests. But the foreign minister and the chairman of the Diaspora Commission are both southerners. |

I am still young and have this big dream of becoming rich, and i know with government job you will never be rich( i mean rich).
So what if i start business and it become successful such that i have assets everywhere, will EFCC still seize those assets thinking i got them by stealing public funds, or what did Nigerian law says? I think you're only allowed to FARM as a public sector worker. But why not shun the civil service, face business and become rich? |

Are you also aware that this town has been notorious for armed robbery in the past? No, sir, they don't have to station a whole unit of snipers. I didn't say so, did I? But they ought to have stationed SOMETHING, anything. That could a sniper or two, APCs hidden on streets not far from that banking hub, a rapid response team not far away. Anything, but something. Here, we had NOTHING. And that's the general story of security in Nigeria, which is what I had in mind. |
Crime › Re: Uromi Bank Robbery: Video Shows Armed Robbers Carrying Money In Bags by JuanDeDios: 8:58am On Feb 25, 2022 |
Jakumo: Those perfectly timed multiple and simultaneous bank robbers, and the expert deployment of explosives to breach fortified bank buildings, bear the hallmark of military planning and execution by highly trained men who have engaged in armed combat in the past, prior to diversifying into the realm of major violent crime.
Armchair police inspectors who decry the absence of a police response during the robberies fail to recognize that a shootout between the bank robbers and law enforcement would have resulted in far more innocent lives being lost in the crossfire. Robbers generally hold the upper hand in shootouts that occur in residential areas because they have no qualms about opening fire in ANY direction, while the police are under orders to avoid shooting into occupied buildings.
It is, therefore, no surprise that the police and army were left with no option but to take cover and observe the operation in progress, so as to later follow up with methodical investigations that will very likely result in the arrest of at least some of the numerous gang members who partook in the robbery. Given the large number of men who raided those banks, it is only a matter of time before informants expose the ring leaders who will then be rounded up. Fair point. Good point, in fact. But in a functioning system, a helicopter or two would have taken to the skies for a crime of this magnitude. At least, checkpoints, ambushes, and pursuits would have ensued. It's over 12 hours now. Nothing. |

Hammyaladin: compared to the armed men, soldiers were few. And that is as a result of people not wanting them around.
I pray for peace. i wonder where you got bolded from. Nowhere in Edo State people are opposed to soldiers. And no single soldier has been attacked for being on the streets. Recently, when soldiers shot some kidnappers on a highway in Edo State, people hailed it and called for more deployments. Even in parts of the SE where people have spoken against having soldiers on the streets, they have not actively opposed them. I agree the soldiers were outnumbered. Besides, exchanging gunfire with robbers in a crowded urban street would have been foolish. |
