PLANETMARS:
Permit me to differ with u op, go through their terms and condition they have the right to set their own exchange rate. That's how they make profit they are not running a charity organisation. If you don't like their exchange rate u look elsewhere its simply business.
I'm not sure what exactly you're "differing" with. Did I say they can't set their exchange rate or that Lagos robbers can't make their own rules? I said they're cheating Nigerians. Why is the difference between their rate and even CBN's faux rate so much? I'm looking elsewhere. That's why I opened this thread. Thank you.

Politics › Re: Massive Fraud In Nigeria N117billion Rice Import Quota Scheme - Premuim Times by JuanDeDios: 5:13pm On Dec 25, 2015
omohayek:
No, the problem is that import substitution schemes are not good policy, even if they look good to laymen without economic literacy. Putting aside the fact that even a corruption-free scheme would still hurt consumers more than it would benefit rice growers, any time politicians are given an opportunity to tamper with trade, they are also provided with a new means to enrich themselves through corrupt practices. Under a free-trade regime, there would be no room for subsidies, import licenses and other such invitations to corruption.

The strange thing about political interference with markets in Nigeria is that the Nigerian masses never learn that these interventions are never to their benefit. One would think most Nigerians would be aware by now that the only parts of the economy that work properly are exactly those bits where the politicians have least influence.
Please allow me to marry your post.

Which would you rather prefer:

1. Be rejected by a group of racist

OR

2. Be rejected by lovehuh
This isn't about me. Ask her - although I answered your question in my post. But I think you don't get it at all.

Osu didn't prevent the Guy from having a job.

Osu didn't prevent the guy from impregnating her.

Osu didn't prevent the guy from having an education

Osu didn't prevent him for being a Christian

Osu will not prevent him from marrying and accomplishing his life's dream.

It's the lady's parent Osu caste is preventing from having common sense.
So true. But, unfortunately, it's not just the parents but the entire clan, village, and community. What we have here is that some ancient priests who thought the sun rose out of the river in the morning are still controlling supposedly learned and free people from their graves.
Romance › Re: How Can She Break This News To Her Fiance?!! by JuanDeDios: 5:14pm On Dec 22, 2015
Basildvalour:
For me, whether OSU or not, that and many other things are just fetish beliefs. Maybe the parents of the lady are not even believers of modern day Christianity or Islam because if they are, they would conclude as I have done that there is no heck with that and they will allow their children live in matrimony.

The lady should go ahead and continue with her wedding plans.
This is way more serious than you realise. If you have Igbo friends, ask them. It's not about being Christian or not - they fear social rejection if they let their daughter marry an Osu. Not even a bishop would risk it.

funkyibodude:
A female friend of mine brought up an issue that have been bothering her so much she said that she needs an urgent advice on what to do. Here's her story
She met a guy last year in a friend's get together party and they both fell for each other. According to her story the guy works with an insurance company in Lagos and my friend was about to go for her NYSC when they both met. So because of the heated romance between them, she decided to work her NYSC posting to Lagos state. During her service year the guy proposed to her and she accepted. So they both went for family introduction. Few months after her introduction, her father called her and told her that she should come home that there's something urgent he wants to tell her. When she traveled back home, her dad told her that the have done some investigation into the guy's Family and the discovered that the guy is an OSU ( meaning outcast in Igbo land) and their village still practice the osu caste system. So the implication there is the both can't get married. And if she insist in getting married to him that her family will not be part of it, literally she's on her own with the guy, she's so heart broken now because she loves her family and she told me she can't imagine her world without him. And more so she's few weeks pregnant for him and the have started making plans for their wedding. How can she break this news to her fiancee?!!.. She told me she rather dies than not marry him.

Please I would appreciate matured advice only because this is really a sensitive issue that involves tradition and beliefs, no attacking of any personality or ethnic group. it can happen to anyone out there. Thanks
Well, it's her decision to make. She needs to consider the consequences of whatever she decides to do and ask herself if she can live with it. If she marries him her children will be deemed outcasts forever. Is she the type of person who can handle that prospect, can handle social rejection? If she can, kudos to her because we need people to blaze the trail and break this Osu caste thing.

What a shame. Y anyone would park on a rail line is beyond me. They cannot say that they did not see the railway since it's not abandoned they must have seen it as it would stick out of the terrain. This is a consequence of our attitude to everything in this nation. No one feels any obligation to obey any set rules or regulations. They didn't die from an accident. They died from stupidity.
RIP to the dead.
I get your point but Nigerians are not used to functional rail lines. When I cross the rail line on foot I sometimes forget to look left right and left again, something I'd never forget to do on a normal road.

These guys actually have weapons to create "heavy gunfire"? Or is there some exaggeration somewhere?
This was my reaction, too. If there is an assassination attempt on anyone the perp should be arrested by the police since the army has no business arresting a civilian. But this "heavy gunfire" business would make it legal for the president to send in the army.

But these Zakay guys are Shiites - so I guess some of them are also radical. Almost terrorist groups are Sunni, though. I doubt there is a single international terrorist group that is Shiite. Hezebollah restricts its actions to its territory and does not seek to export its war. It's Sunnis who have the mandate to propagate the jihad.

I can vehemently say that what happened to that man was real.
I was once a victim of those people who shall never no peace in life.
Mine happened in PH along 1st artillery road, I boarded a car taxi too from Diamond bank, with my laptop in the bag which was on my lap. I sat in the front beside a guy, then when I wanted to close the door I couldn't, the driver came to close it and when I alighted to my surprise I found a marble instead of my laptop.
I almost ran made. Those people are diabolical for real.
