Well, I have seen two different Shekau in the videos with my own eyes. That I can confirm. If the second Shekau has been killed, that would be good, but it does not end Boko Haram. More work still to be done.

helpee: false! Till date nobody knows the exact number of people that died in world trade center not to talk of knowing the name of every victim. Why are Nigerian like this. There are still hundreds of people unaccounted for till date. Google is your friend. They only estimated the number of people that died. Tell me how do u expect Joshua to know the number of people in there within one week when some people may even be in the periphery. So your own idea is to start churning out figures and then modify it tomorrow. My friend we don't always have to be stampeded into action simply because some foreign countries told you so.....more so SA. Allow govt do its investigation and until then I don't expect any hasty figures or criminalisation of anybody
Didn't you read where I said allowance was made for unknown victims? Yes, they estimated the number - that's doing something. Joshua, on the other hand, has refused to disclose his guest list and the government is doing nothing about it - these are the people you want to trust.

During the activities marking 9-11 anniversary the NAMES of all known victims are read out. Pity you didn't know that.
Politics › Re: Blood On Their Hands- The Times Magazine by JuanDeDios: 6:31pm On Sep 21, 2014
helpee: why would they tell you when investigation is still ongoing? Some may still be trapped....some may simply be unaccounted for yet. Tell me precisely how many people died in world trade centres? How many are Nigerians? We are talking of 13yrs!!!. Which responsible govt are u talking about? A responsible govt will liase ist with d home govt b4 talking rubbish. Have u forgotten that SA has a Nigerian ambassador who should have gone to visit Joshua for a ist hand information b4 their illiterate president started saying rubbish. Responsible govt my foot
So you expect "investigation" to be completed before they tell you how many people are feared dead simply before people might be under the rubles? Well, based on some of the things you wrote it seems you are poorly informed. A few moments after the WTC went down figures started coming out. The figures were later revised based on new knowledge. At the end there was a definite statement on the number KNOWN to have died with the admission that there may be unknown ones. On the next anniversary of 9-11, listen out and you will hear the NAME of EVERY known VICTIM read out. Did you get that? The NAME of every victim.

The media reported that Joshua has failed to disclose the number of people who were there, much less release the guest list. If you're telling me that if your relative was there you would have relied on Joshua for good information despite the manner he has conducted himself so far, I say carry go.

APC wants Lagos 2015 and Oga Jo wants votes for the presidency 2015 and thus will leave it to Fashola. If Lagos was a PDP state, APC would have gone to town screaming bloody murder by now and if it wasn't an international incident requiring federal attention, PDP would be crying too like APC sodomized it.

Just goes to show these leaders are all the same - only reason I'll stand with APC 2015 is so PDP gets kicked out. Then I support PDP, then APC etc "until" our politicians start fighting to please us knowing we can kick them out

helpee: Let the state govt conduct their investigation pls!! So all of you expect Fashola to just criminalise Joshua just like that without getting the details simply because you don't like Joshua. Why must we be quick to send condolence to SA? Is it the same SA that broke diplomatic protocol by announcing its own casualty figure different from NEMA? Nigerians equally died in d rubbles. SA is using everything to play politics with Nigeria and if I were Jonathan I will not specifically send any condolence to SA alone but to all d victims. If Joshua is guilty after diligent investigation he should be dealt with not because we hate him but cos he is guilty. Even if d plane that flew close to d building didn't cause d collapse then we also owe Nigerians and Joshua explanation as to the true mission of d plane. Investigation must not be biased.
@bolded
How many? Has our government told us? - as in so-and-so number died, comprising so-and-so men, women, kids, Nigerians, Ghanaians, South Africans, etc? Yet you expect a serious government to keep quiet.

APContherun: My cousin had as much right as the over 60 South Africans to live but his life was cut short at just 32 and the South African govt never offered any condolence message to my family even after repeated calls on Union Building. My cousin is one of many Nigerians who have suffered death in the hands of South Africa and her death gangs. I don't support Joshua because I don't even believe in him but the South African govt should allow the Nigeriangovt do what it feels.
No, they won't, and they shouldn't. If our government does not feel to do the right thing, right-thinking people everywhere have a duty to call them out.

Yes, your cousin had as much rights as each of the over 60 South Africans that have died. But what were you people calling the Union Buildings for - to demand for proper investigations or for condolences? Are you sure the Union Buildings was the appropriate department to call? Many Nigerians, such as, unfortunately, your cousin, have died in foreign lands. Many foreigners have also died in Nigeria. When a foreigner dies in Nigeria the Nigerian government does not owe the family of the foreigner any special attention or messages. But the Nigerian government owes them a proper investigation and if this is not done, the family ought to insist on it. It doesn't matter whether the RSA government wrote you letters or not. What they owed you was a proper investigation into the death of your cousin.

Yes, I have read stories of Nigerians treated badly in South Africa and it's a shame if our government did not stand up for them. But again you conflate issues when you compare the death of your cousin to the death of 60 or so people. That fact that the president of the republic came down to the scene should tell you something big happened here. In this case, special attention and condolences are necessary. In fact, when you have incident of this magnitude, the government takes over, rescuing, investigating, announcing deaths and their nationalities, etc. The announcement of how many South Africans died ought to have come from the Nigerian government.

What some of you don't seem to understand is the danger this incident poses to our economy. The problem is not that a building collapses - that happens anywhere. It is our government's response to it. Our government is acting as if a building collapse that kills close to 100 is no big deal - no serious investigations, nothing. The next time some folk in some country wants to come to Nigeria to invest, the advisory he will get will include, apart from Boko Haram and Ebola, collapsing buildings.

barcanista: My friend, this is a laughable excuse. This is a pure Lagos State offence and has nothing to do with Federal or Foreign Relations. What SA govt need is justice and it is within the powers of LASG to handle this case. This is not the first and won't be the last State offence. Pls keep your Ferguson or Moyes american case, we are talking of Nigeria and Nigeria laws. Fashola has disappointed me and some of his supporters. He is proving to be incompetent and clueless like Jonathan!!!
*Sigh*
So if a crime is committed and Lagos State fails to act, the FG should leave it at that? As for the functions of the attorney-general, the similarity between our federal constitution and that of the US, and the international angle to this, I see all that is above you. Carry go abeg. Na you biko.

APContherun: Abeg chill with that slave mentality. It's sad that lives were lost in the accident but as far as I'm concerned South Africa is taking the matter to far. Nigeria doesn't owe her any apology because the Nigerian Govt didn't force the South Africans to come to SCOAN.Besides how many times has the SA govt offered condolence message to the Nigerian govt and families of Nigerians killed in SA. My cousin was killed last month by an armed gang in Johannesburg and till today SA hasn't in any form condoled with our family.
While I call for a full investigation into the matter we should stop making it a Nigeria South Africa row.
You're the one who appears to have a slave mentality since you can't read well.

Show me where I asked for an apology!

So if you're the president of Nigeria and more than 50 Nigerians die in a single incident in another country you will not expect a direct statement by the government of that country assuring the families of a thorough investigation - especially where there is an apparent malfeasance? Why are you comparing the death of possibly close to 100 people with the your one cousin? Did our own media not report that Joshua's people initially obstructed rescue operation with the government's rescue people seeming helpless instead of calling in the police immediately? Is this how governments function?
Politics › Re: Blood On Their Hands- The Times Magazine by JuanDeDios: 12:10pm On Sep 21, 2014
barcanista: The Onus is on LASG to file charges against Prophet TB Joshua.
I agree. But you need to know that once anything involves foreign affairs it becomes a matter for the president. Besides we're talking about the death close to 100 people. The FG has a duty to step in. After all, the FG controls the police and the police is yet to cough in this matter. You saw what happened in Fergusson - the city administration, then the state, the federal government came in. This is a matter of far bigger magnitude. Jonathan cannot pass the buck here. He reserves the right to ask the AFG to take over and investigate the matter. If Fashola feels too timid tackle Joshua Abuja should not be.

Our government has done a lot of wrong-
(1) Condoling with Joshua and stopping there, making this appear to be all about the "man of God".
(2) Not coming out firmly to declare this a law and order issue, which it apparently is, rather than some accident.
(3) Not compelling Joshua to be open - release the list of everyone who was known to be in the building.
(4) Not sending a direct message to South Africa condoling them and assuring them that full investigations will be carried out and anyone found culpable will be punished.
(5) Allowing Joshua to remain in business in the main church after disclosing that that building also has question marks.

We should be ashamed of our governments - federal and Lagos State. I heard Fashola even went there to hold a "closed door meeting" Joshua! Shame. Till date the man has not been questioned by the police. They will sweep everything under the carpet as usual. The law is not meant for powerful people in Nigeria. Messed up country.

Imagine, china with sahara reporters, absolute chaos is the end result.
And that is why i want a buhari presidency.
GEJ is too naive for the realities of today.
So you think we shouldn't have a free press and want Buhari to come and enforce that. And you can't see that for a country as corrupt as Nigeria the press is all you have left. May your path be rough in your Buhari mission.
Politics › Re: Nigeria Turns To Russia And China For Military Hardware Against Terror by JuanDeDios: 6:24pm On Sep 20, 2014
plaetton: Anyone who is familiar with, or does a case study of military conflicts in Africa over the past 60 yrs or so would notice that the west, or various organs of the anglosphere, are usually the architects, facilitators and provocateurs of such conflicts.
Also notable is that the west always and always play both sides of every conflict by advising and arming both sides.
However, what you may never notice is that the west never ever arms either side for a clear and concise victory. Never.
The west cleverly gives only enough arms, enough support to sustain an intractable conflict.
The west are only interested in conflicts that last indefinitely till the nation state can no longer function as such.
Angola, Congo, Uganda, Sudan, and Nigeria are historical examples.

No one should delude themselves that west would give Nigeria weapons or intelligence ( which they have) to defeat boko haram. The chaos created by book haram is exactly what they wish for Nigeria. They can also use it blackmail and influence Nigeria's resource and geopolitical policies. This has always been the MO of the anglosphere.
Good writeup. But there are zero facts to support the assertion that the West has armed both sides in any conflict in Suadan or Nigeria or any of the other conflicts.
Politics › Re: Nigeria Turns To Russia And China For Military Hardware Against Terror by JuanDeDios: 4:55pm On Sep 20, 2014
arresa: Stop blaming other people for your own problems and your president's incompetent and corrupt ways...

1. GEJ himself admitted that he has BH moles in his government so why should the US give weapons to the same BH moles?

2. GEJ himself is by association with and protection of known BH supporters and financiers is in effect a BH collaborator and supporter so why should they collaborate with him. It's like joining forces with armed robbers to catch other armed robbers..

3. The US not only asserted to your government that BH gets it's weapons from the Nigerian Army, but we also know that the military by design not only refused to defend their military bases and weapons, they also refused to equip their military men to adequately fight off BH before BH manifested into the lethal enemy we have today so why should the US give you weapons that you can not use and protect and even at the end of the day ends up in BH's armory?

4. Your president refused to fight corruption and incompetence within the Nigerian military and instead hand over National awards to the same corrupt and incompetent military chiefs responsible for the mess we are going through? This doesn't put us in a good light or inspire confidence in any way.

Bottom line, look in the mirror first before blaming other people for your woes...

Ramnon2: Why are Yorubas so tribalistically petty? The point is, Olushola or not, is Desmond Eliot a Yoruba person? This is not difficult to figure out, no?

What makes him Yoruba? The fact this his father is Yoruba? Yes? No?
What makes him a non-Yoruba? The fact that his mother is not Yoruba, even if his father is? Or the fact that he has two English names?
No mind people jare. The guy has always said his father is Lagosian while his mother is Igbo. I have always known his middle name to be Sola after he mentioned it in an interview. He also has an Igbo middle name I can't recall. But I hope all the noise serves as a lesson to those who play name politics by dusting up obscure names for political ends.
