This thanksgiving appears too early for me. He should have waited till after the court processes are exhausted. Even Shaibu who told INEC official he is a dead man is also in church to thank God. This God is merciful. If men were God?
sunnyb0b0: Timipre Sylva, former governor of Bayelsa state, has retrieved 48 of his property which the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) seized during the administration of Goodluck Jonathan.
According to PUNCH, some of the property are located in Wuse II and Maitama, highbrow areas of Abuja.
Back then, the commission had slammed 50 charges against the ex-governor and arraigned him before three federal high courts in Abuja.
Sylva, who contested the 2015 governorship election in Bayelsa, had accused the anti-graft agency of witch-hunt and political persecution.
The case was subsequently struck out.
A PUNCH correspondent, who visited some of the houses, observed that the inscription ‘EFCC, Keep Off’, on the gates or fences of the property, had been wiped off the buildings while some had been rented out.
The correspondent, who posed as a prospective tenant, was informed that the rent for the property ranged between N2.5m and N6m per annum.
Sixteen units of service apartments at Plot 1181 Thaba Tseka Crescent, off IBB Way in the Wuse II area of the federal capital territory (FCT), cost N6m per annum including a N1.5m service charge.
The building provides seven hours of power supply from a generator. One wing had been painted while the other was under reconstruction.
“When the EFCC sealed off this property, it was rotting away. However, it was re-opened a few months ago so we started to refurbish the property. We have repainted the property and we have started renting the apartments out,” a guard at the property was quoted to have said.
At a block of flats, which comprises nine units (six one-bedroom and three two-bedroom flats) located at 8, Sefadu Street, Wuse, Zone 2, PUNCH was told that the rent ranged from N1.5m to N3m.
“Immediately the EFCC inscriptions were erased, all the flats were taken. There is no vacant apartment now,” the security guard said.
At a property located at 8 Mistrata Street, Wuse II, Abuja, it was observed that the property was a hotel, which charged between N25,000 and N45,000 per room.
TheCable’s efforts to reach Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC’s spokesman, for the reaction of the commission did not yield the desired result as of the time this report was filed.
His telephone line was out of reach, but a text message was sent.
They say if you can't beat them, then join them. Once you join them your sins are forgiven. Its a crazy and biased war against corruption. Bigots won't see anything wrong with this. If GEJ decamps to APC today, his travails ends. What an irony for a country called Nigeria.
Ne0w1zarD: The PDP candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu -- who lost to Obaseki in the recently conducted Edo governorship election-- was filmed giving out speech to the citizens of Edo State. Watch video below;
4 simple reasons to show that Edo governorship election was rigged and INEC is not independent. 1. Election monitors who were accredited before the election were prevented from entering the state collation centre. 2. Results from the field as collated by party agents were different from what INEC announced. 3. A party whose name did not appear on the ballot paper was allocated with votes. 4. The state governor was spotted at the INEC office at midnight prior to the day the results were announced and he was there for hours even though he was not a party agent. I think we should remove independent from INEC's name and be calling them National Electoral Commission, NEC, because it is obvious that there was premeditated arrangement to rig this election and all concerned should be ashamed. Some of us have identified these flaws but our partisan commitments have be clouded our sense of reasoning. I don't know how we can move forward as a nation with this corrupt acts. There in no worse corruption than what we have witnessed in Edo state.
MadeInTokyo: International observers, who monitored Wednesday Edo State governorship election have expressed reservations about the conduct of the election, pointing out that they were not denied entry into the centre vote collation centre and that security operatives at the polling units looked the other way while politicians and their agents induced voters with money.
Prof Ahmed Ansari, head of the African Union Observer Team, asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to improve on the functionality of the card readers as he noted that the machine did not work in some polling units.
He said along with other international observer groups such as the American Observer team, the British Council and others from the Netherlands and Scotland, the full reports of their impression of the election would be submitted to the INEC and other important election stakeholders.
He said, “The turnout was quite impressive, but there were problems here and there. Another challenge was understaffing. We saw situation whereby only one staff was in a polling unit. That was not good enough.
There were reports of inducement. Every party complained about inducement which to me mean that all of them were guilty. The electorate are not supposed to sell their consciences. To the politicians, it shouldn’t be about money.
He further stated that “as the head of an international observer team, we were not allowed to go to the collation centres at a particular time. That is something we need to complain about. I asked who gave the instruction; who gave the order? It couldn’t be INEC.
“It could be, as they call it, order from above? But the security men told me that ‘sir, this is the order given to us.’ In every situation, one person is allowed to be there. Even when we delegated Victor (his assistant) to go in, he was not allowed to go into the hall.
He said, “He (Victor) was allowed to come within the compound, but was not inside the nucleus, where the whole the exercise took place, adding that “we should be there; we should get the result sheet. We should have a copy but we don’t have copies for now.”
On the rescheduling of collation of results, Prof Ansari said, “it could be for security reasons based on advice, but I didn’t know why they had to stop and leave it for a particular time. Of course, there was no call for it.”
When asked what security operatives could have done upon noticing that money was exchanging hands at the polling units, he said “that depends on the order they gave them.”
Also speaking, Christian Victor from the African Union for Economic, Social and Cultural Council, said many of the things observed in the field on Wednesday were not the kind of things that should happen in an election.
He said, “One of them is that everywhere we visited was filled with money flying around. Some people were fighting some voters for not voting the political parties they were paid for. It was very disappointing that this kind of thing still happens in the Nigeria’s political system.
“I watched the security agencies and it was clear they understood that monies were flying but for reasons best known to them they did not stop it. There were cases of young men, who looked like thugs, driving around during the election.
“They were never stopped by security agencies. That is wrong where there is a restriction of movement. I also saw wealthy people moving around in SUVs during the election.
I have been part of many elections and I have never seen a situation whereby observers and journalists are not allowed into collation centres.”
A local observer, Sadoh Danladi Sunday, stated that it was shocking that the results announced by the INEC did not tally with those his group got from the field.
Everyone including those living outside the state know this election was manipulated. Where is the doctrine of one man, one vote? Observers were barred from the collation centres & those who have results from the field say what they have is different from whay was announced. Yet some partisan folks still argue in support of the result as announced. I thought we wanted change to do things better? Jonathan lost because he allowed free & fair elections. What has happened in Edo election sends bad signals ahead of 2019. The people should be allowed to decide on who governs them. The sad thing is that Oshiomhole & Buhari are beneficiaries of free & fair elections because they came to power as opposition elements. The same institution is being destroyed for selfish interests. I just hope the courts will redress this ills.
Thieves. If he is CBN governor, then he should use our common wealth to come & release his wife. Why not better request for Nigeria's budget for the year. You will all soon be rounded up. What you think is a hit will soon heat & hit you. Bustard children. The day your parents gave birth to you they did not know they gave birth to animals & not children.
APC won but celebration is only noticed in the government house. Around town, Benin in particular, its a case of sit down look. No traces of jubilation, the type you will expect when a popular candidate emerges. There is no way APGA could have won the election as rightly confirmed by their chairman, but from the result collated by their agents, they are adding their voice to the claim by PDP that the results announced by INEC were different from those collated at the various units.
kahal29: The outcome of the Edo State governorship election has exposed the weakness of some bigwigs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hitherto seen as kingmakers, writes...
Yesterday’s victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Edo State governorship election, is likely to mark the retirement of some political godfathers in the “Heartbeat State” by a new power bloc led by the outgoing governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. The godfathers, mostly of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party and who hitherto called the shots, rating ahead of the poll had presented them as men who could turn the table against the ruling party.
They include former chairman of PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Tony Anenih; business mogul and the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion; his son and former governor, Lucky; former Foreign Affairs minister, Chief Tom Ikimi; former Minister of Works, Mr. Mike Onolememen; former Chief of Staff to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Mike Oghiadome; media mogul, Chief Raymond Dokpesi and Senator Odion Ugbesia.
The party bigwigs had during the campaigns boasted that they will cut Oshiomhole, his anointed successor and APC to size. But in a twist of fate, Oshiomhole, like the Biblical David in the David and Goliath battle, led his party to trounced his PDP rivals for the third time – 2008 (through the court), 2012 and 2016 and thereby confirmed his preelection position that the political godfathers have outlived their relevance in Edo State politics.
Anenih popularly called “Mr. Fix It,” had boasted before the election that the PDP will emerge tops. He not only predicted victory for his party but assured its supporters that PDP candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu will have an easy ride because his rival lacks the capacity to be governor. But with the defeat, the former Minister of Works and leader of the PDP in Edo State was forced to swallow his words and justifies appeal on the self-acclaimed godfather ahead of the poll to rather dwell more on national politics and play the role of an elder statesman, than take the captainship band of domestic politics.
In fact, some political analysts had advised him to take a final bow from an indulgence that gave him fame having stepped down as PDP BoT chairman after the 2015 elections but he shunned the counsel, insisting that he still has what it takes to turn the table against Oshiomhole. Another godfather who is likely to join Anenih on the retirement train is the Esama of Benin, Chief Igbinedion, and whose son, Lucky, ruled the state between 1999 and 2007.
Perhaps, the people have not forgotten his son’s dismal performance in the eight years he held sway as governor of Edo State. For Igbinedion junior, the loss is a set back to his bid to re-launch a political career that has been on sabbatical after his ordeal in the hands of the anti-graft agencies upon leaving office as governor in 2007. He had boasted that Oshiomhole’s successor will emerge from his political family. Ize-Iyamu, the PDP candidate is his long term political ally, having served as his personal assistant when he was the chairman of Oredo Local Government Area, Chief of Staff as governor and later Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
Ikimi also joins the train despite his political sagacity. His case is made worse by the fact that he was among those who midwifed the victorious party – APC. He had hoped to lead the party to the 2015 elections as national chairman but the emergence of his kinsman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, at the party’s national put paid to his ambition as well as forced him to quit the party. While the godfathers are grieving their loss, a jubilant Oshiomhole declared that he has demystified them and dismantled their rigging machinery as well.
His words: “Over the last eight years, we have tried to orientate our people not just the voters but politicians that the season of election rigging, where one or two godfathers write the results is over and we were committed to dismantling the rigging machine.
“We have a rerun in 2012 with all the godfathers on one side and new forces of change on my side, I won in all the 18 local government areas. Our people have spoken loud and clear that they believe in democracy, they just don’t want to be beneficiaries, they want to be the drivers of the process. This was showed by the way they conducted themselves on election day.
“It is outstanding and remarkable that tensed as the election was with all the predictions, the APC won 15 out of the 18 local government areas decisively.
Those who were loudest in making noise have been revealed where they stand in relation with Edo people.
"We have humbled Chief Tom Ikimi even in the local government he claimed to have created. We defeated Chief Raymond Dokpesi in his polling unit, his ward and his local government.
In Okada, the political family that has boasted that they will continue to govern this state and even compelled the state to adopt them as the queen of England whose birthday must be celebrated was rejected.
“In Esan land, the senatorial zone of the PDP godfather, we won two out of the five local governments. We gave him a fight that he managed to escape. He used the factor of his age to play on the emotion of the people. It is a victory for the people of the state. Edo people are now proud they can now determine who rules them and no one godfathers can choose a leader for them.”
dainformant: Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole and wife beautiful wife Iara -couldn't contain their excitement following the gubernatorial election victory of Godwin Obaseki, the All Progressives Congress (APC) party candidate. Obaseki, won 13 of the state’s 18 local government areas.
Governor Oshiomhole, his wife and others were seen in a jubilant mood yesterday at the government house in Benin, Edo state -as they popped a bottle of wine to celebrate.
Mc4larin: President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday congratulated the government and people of Edo State on the successful conclusion of the gubernatorial election and the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Godwin Obaseki at the polls.
In a telephone call to Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, President Buhari commended the well-articulated campaign programme of the APC in the state, the doggedness of the governor, governor-elect and party members in going round the state to reach the people with records of good governance over the years and a promise of continuity.
In a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the President said that the outcome of the election clearly reflected the mood of the people to sustain the pedigree of responsiveness, forthrightness and diligence that Governor Oshomole brought into the service of his people.
‘‘The victory is good for democracy, for Nigeria and the people of Edo State,’’ he said.
President Buhari also said that the victory was well-deserved as the campaign train, which he joined, worked hard to sell its people-centered manifesto.
He applauded the conduct of the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies, corps members and electorate in ensuring a peaceful election. INEC had announced that Obaseki won the majority of the votes cast, with a total of 319,483 votes, and he was closely followed by Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the PDP, who polled 253,173 votes.
The signals for 2019 are not good. Nigeria's electoral process has taken a plunge. Serious questions arise from the governorship election in Edo State that needs to be looked into irrespective of our political association. 1. The Edo state Governor was alleged to have visited the INEC state headquarters where results were being collated at midnight prior to the announcement of the result even though he was not a party agent. OBJ was accused of doing same to rig the election for Prof Osunbor in 2007. Moreover, Oshiomhole was also accused by his party members of rigging the primaries in favour of Obaseki. Having rolled out their programmes, the people should be allowed to decide who governs them. This issue calls to question the popular doctrine of 'one man, one volt as canversed by Oshiomhole. 2. To confirm that the results of the election were written before the election, a party agent raised an issue at the collation centre that their name was not on the vote slip but votes were allocated to them. 3. APC candidate, Shaibu threatened to kill an INEC official in the course of the election as if the election is a 'do or die' affair. These is food for thought for all who believe in genuine democracy.

PDP Won OREDO LGA: SECURITY OPERATIVES MUST ARREST ADAMS OSIOHMOLE's CHIEF THUG
1. Following the announcement of the results of the Edo State Gubernatorial Election for Oredo Local Government Area in which our Candidate scored a massive victory over the candidate of the Ruling All Progressives’ Congress (APC), a known Thug and Enforcer of Governor Adams Oshiomole – Mr. Osakpanwam Eriyo (aka Nomoreloss) has invaded the Collation Centre along with several armed cohorts.
2. During this invasion, Mr. Osakpanwam Eriyo forcefully removed all result sheets used in collating results for the LGA. It is very worrisome that security agents acted in collusion with this Thug in his objectionable conduct.
3. The Nigerian public will recall that we have severally given warnings about the plan of the Ruling APC to attack LGA collation centres where they deemed the results of the elections to be unfavourable.
4. Further to this, we hereby call on the Inspector General of Police and the heads of the relevant security agencies to immediately arrest Mr. Eriyo and his accomplices. We also urge the IGP and other security agencies to immediately retrieve the Election Result sheets from this reprehensible fellow and return them safely to INEC to enable the Electoral Body complete the electoral process.
5. It is imperative that the Nigerian Police Force immediately arrests Mr. Eriyo as a means of building confidence in the electorate. Failure to do so may lead to people resorting to self help to enforce their rights which may in turn lead to a breakdown of law and order.
We can't tell here if these allegations are true or not. If they are true then seriously it calls for worry. Citizens should be allowed to decide who governs them. In Nigeria democracy is being given a different connotation. Few force their will on the majority because of the surplus money available to be disbursed according to the decisions of the public office holder. It is such a shame to all of us. And this explains why we may never rub shoulders with the white people who will refer to these actions as sheer madness and these also explains all the insults Africans have received from Donald Trump.
Beyond the elections, I think our leader's desperation for office needs to be looked into. The APC Deputy Governorship candidate went to INEC collation centre in his locality with armed gunmen & threatened to kill an INEC official because he wants public office. These are topical issues. You are not yet the DG & you make such threat & some bigots hear begin to make comments. In civilised climes, everyone including those having the same political beliefs with the chap join hands to criticise his action. He is not yet dep. Gov. & he does this, when he gets there, he gets official cover to do more.
Nimen: Everywhere in Edo State, not only APC though, both PDP
This confirms all I have been saying. APC is equally guilty of everything they have been accusing PDP of. Corruption is the mainstay of both parties and so all the anti corruption war at the federal level, though they have substance, is now more or less political persecution.
Corruption is gradually finding its way into the medical sector. Very soon we may need our relations to witness operations. A woman may go for CS & the doctor will remove one of her kidneys or liver & sew her up since there is no one observing the process.
The governors had a point then because it didn't make sense to have such money and go about borrowing at high interest rates. My anger is when the same governors who are now in APC open their diarrhoea mouth and be blaming the previous government for not saving for the raining day. They think we have shallow memory like them. The former government didn't do well but there were some positives which folks should be bold enough to accept.

'Additional houses, plaza, mansions and very large farm with two Containers and farm house and utility buildings in it, all in Abuja and Kaduna including the famous AP PLAZA (in Abuja) suspected to belong to the former Governor of Katsina State as part of proceeds of ill gotten rapacious weath. Mrop: A video of a faceless woman who breastfed a puppy is currently making rounds online amidst sharp criticisms from people.
The puppy in the short video clip could be seen grappling one of the woman ’ s boobs giving the indication that it was actually extracting milk from her ni pple.
Details of the identity of the woman as well as her nationality or mental state are currently unknown.
I am just wondering how Lai Mohamed would have reacted to this development as APC spokesman few years back. All the things he was criticising then are the same things he is defending now. Very unstable people speaking from both sides of the mouth depending on which side of the divide the find themselves.
clevadani: Nonsense It is God that will judge anybody that tries to bring PDP back to Edo state after what they did the state. Can you imagine the Igbinedion led govt telling us that they cant construct road because of Mammy water?? What kind of nonsense is that? PDP must not be allowed back into Edo state govt house period.
Cast your one vote & let Edo people decide who will be their next governor. If majority decide they want a thief there, so be it before you take high BP kill yourself.
The suggestion to sell is not in Nigeria's interest. Dangote wants to buy the NLNG hence the suggestion. This are revenue generating ventures for government so Mr. Dangote stay clear with your selfish ideas.

jonhemma11: Four ritualists were allegedly arrested with fresh human hearts in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun state. The suspects Nurudeen Adeniyi, 34, Tunde Banjo, 29, Temitope Alaba 20, and Tobi Olukoya , 20, all confessed to commiting the crime. The suspects said their victim- a young lady, was brought from Ago Iwoye area. When the lady was resisting sexual advances from them, they hit her with a charm and she couldn't say anything again. Read their confessions below;
Nurudeen Adeniyi, 34, suspect.
Nurudeen Adeniyi is my name, I am 34 years old. I am selling cement and rice and I am an Alfa.
I told him (Banjo) that I need human heart and he said he has a man that can get it for him.
I just take the delivery of this one (hearts) and I have collected two pieces two years ago.
I am not the person that used the one I collected two years ago, the person that used that one is dead now.
I want to use the parts for eyonu, ebe a won agba.
I regret my actions and I want Nigerians to forgive me.
Tunde Banjo, 29, herbalist, suspect.
This my brother asked me that he needs breast and 'TOTO' (female genitals) and one day I was playing in my house and I see this guy with his friend and I told them that one of my brothers need this thing and he said he could get it for me.
He called me one day that he has seen a lady. I was not there when they killed her o but she was killed in my (herbalist) office.
Temitope Alaba 20, suspect
"I was there when they killed the girl but I wasn't the one that killed her. I am an herbalist apprentice.
The girl was killed with a knife.
It was Tobi and 'Asa' (nickname) that killed the girl. They brought her from Ago Iwoye area.
When the lady was resisting sexual advances from them, they hit her with a charm and she couldn't say anything again.
Tobi Olukoya , 20, suspect
I was outside, I don't know how pepe and Tope killed her.
They told me they needed women breast and private part and if I could lure a girl to their place, they would give me 30 thousand naira.
But they only gave me 500 naira to go and eat after the operation.
I picked them from Ago garade.
Commissioner of Police Ahmed Iliyasu has confirmed the incident;
"You can see a recession of human being back to cannibalism and we would not allow that, that is why when out operatives got this information, we quickly swung into action and rounded them up.
We have interviewed them. That is bestial and we cannot allow that. We have carried out our constitutional duties by arresting them,” he said.
Definitely, the right procedure will be taken and they would be charged to court for prosecution.
Nobody will hide under any guise to perpetrate any criminal act in the state and go free, we will definitely get at him. We have our various tactical deployment, we have our covert operations and we are picking them up,” he said.
which country? With the hostile environment, high cost of aviation fuel & unstable exchange rate? Have you not heard that existing airlines are temporarily suspending operations? Business is about profit not location. Set it up where you know you will get returns on your investment. QED.
I expect the people to decide though I would have preferred another party to win the election. Simple reason being that Comrade has been calling everyone thief. Let another party come & try him & let's see if he is clean. That's my only reason o. He has been battling to enthrone a successor to cover his tracks because its obvious he is a yam eater.
If this present government has solution to our problems, they will not result to excuses. They asked to be voted for to turn things around but all we hear is complaints. Its more than a year now. Truth is, we all know PDP didn't do well hence APC was voted in. The day they stop the blame game is the day I seriously know they want to start work.
Tell that story to people without brain. He forcibly had sex with her & instead of raising alarm, she left him in the room with a note to lock the door when he wakes up. Wake up here on earth or in heaven?
