mizGene: 10 days. Justwise you are sounding more concerned about the feasibility (cost and visa availability) rather than the actual possibility. Personally I always have multiple valid visas in my passport. I would rather add some money to that 2k pounds and take a short holiday in Turkey, Dubai or visit family in the USA or Canada or elsewere rather than dash the hime office and be stuck in a room in a holiday inn eating crap thrice daily. ..and how about those who have family only in the UK or student with visa already? If this is the case of holiday then i wouldn't encourage my enemy to come to the UK now as there are loads of countries to visit. |

careerwoman: So invariably it means that someone can stay in a green list country for more than 10 days and be allowed to enter. Yes that is the whole idea of 10days isolation rule, just do PCR test 48/24hrs before boarding and complete the locator form |

AKALAMAGBO: Well, I have been in Dubai since 8th of this month and my flight ✈️ to Birmingham is 21st, which numerically means I have stayed in a Green List country for more than 10 days and that’s what I will be filling inside the passengers locator form…
When I was booking my flight at emirates airline office here, their agent only asked how many days would it have amounted to between the days I got here and the day I plan to travel, the answer was 13 days and his response was; you are good to go, but you have to ensure your Covid-19 test is negative in the last 24 hours and you must remember to fill a passenger locators form…
Well let’s see how this play out. That is it, isolation in the UK is 10days but you have done 13days and with negative PCR you are good to go. Your case is different |

Thank you. There are almost the same though you may have to look for a bank with student account deal. Google that you may come across some that offers one or two deal for students |

giselle237: it is not about the visa.. it is about the red list country! This is what is been done over and over again. Something i saw with my two eyes.. pakistan was on the red list, they travelled from Pakistan to USA and stayed there for 2 weeks, then USA to UK with same Pakistan issued visit visa whilst Pakistan still stayed on the red list. You will be allowed in. Same way if you go to Turkey/Ghana or any non red list nation for 10 days, you can skip the compulsory quarantine. Abeg no dey argue this one.
That is why you have a passenger locator form… this is what is used at the border.. not where you obtained visa from… it only asks where you have been in the last 10 days.. as long as it is not a red list country, it will tell u only about day 2 pcr and pre departure pcr.. You are talking about something different here, if you got nobody to live with in USA how much will it cost you to live in a hotel in USA for two weeks compare £2000+ for 10days. Come to think about it, you also need to apply for US visa to be able to travel there to isolate for 2wks. |

Fourcade: So a uk student Visa issued in Nigeria can be used to travel from Cameroon. Cameroon isn't on the red list. Maybe a favorable option. You will stay isolate and pay for the £2000+ you don't live in Cameron and the visa was not issued there |

giselle237: omo I beg to differ. Colleagues’ parents and family tried this thing when India and Pakistan was on the list. I was just watching film. The problem is the VIRUS from the ‘red list’ not the visa. They do not want anyone from a red list country coming here. As long as you technically wipe your red list history by coming from a non red list nation, you will scale. Seen so many examples of this. How will you do that holding visiting visa? Travel to non-red list country then from there buy another ticket to the UK? When you land at Heathrow with Nigerian passport what happens? |

careerwoman: I don’t think the issuing country is a problem according to the circular. The visa doesn’t even state where it was issued. If the visa is valid then it should be permissible. Anyways, I think the best thing would be to confirm from them first before going on my trip. Issuing country is the major prob here, if you live in Ghana or Cameron as a Nigerian and got your visa there you will be allowed to enter the UK without restriction. Even if its not written on the visa they still know where the application was made and other details Look at the exemptions to see if your purpose of coming to the UK fails under that |

careerwoman: True. “Loophole” makes it sound illegal meanwhile it isn’t. It is necessary for one to understand and apply the grammar used in these policy guidelines. I really hope the Dec 20 review is favourable otherwise I might have to travel from elsewhere for my important trip. Even if you tried to travel through green list country it will not work because your visa was issued in Nigeria |

Omicron999: Some legal minds are currently challenging this modern form of self -paid kidnapping It's insane to say the least. There are more cases of this new variant in the UK and other EU countries than Nigeria and other African countries in that list but few African countries were targeted and shamed. Why not allow people to quarantine in their houses or allow them to leave the hotel if they tested negative in day2? Everyone else is walking freely untested spreading it while a few are forced to pay £££ to isolate. If decided to come to the UK after this rule was introduced then pay whatever they charged you but don't make everyone else to pay that money. |

It would be taking from your tax code, eventually !!! The problem is with immigration and airlines, as they will not even allow you to get to checking in desk without showing those documents let alone board . The British govt gives the instructions and they carried it out. Apart from that many British passport holders will not end up in any stupid hotel because you can not physically force anybody to do that . |

giselle237: The airlines in Nigeria wont even let you board the flight from Nigeria if you dnt show CTM payment invoice and the booking completion with your hotel name .. this is what is happening… you cnt even get to Heathrow… Not only the airlines even the lab conducting the PCR test asked me yesterday if I have booked the quarantine hotel and when I told her no she shouted: YOU HAVE TO OOO!!! They even changed to rule from 48hrs test before departure to 24hrs , apparently that was the instructions they received. |

Ghen ghen, British pali talking, if anyone on visa try am. Na muritala straight oo I was on phone early today to passenger locator helpline in the UK just to clarify the rules, you needed to hear how rude the lady at the other end of the line sounded, I asked why British citizens/residents who are returning to the UK can not quarantine at home considering the cost of hotel.. she went… the person has to stay in back in Nigeria if he/she can not afford it that it doesn’t matter if you only visited Nigeria for one hour. |

Temitopepremium: Good morning to you all.
Please help me with this as we have done everything that should be done but no result. I applied for my husband to join me as a tier 4 dependant on the 21st of September and he did his biometric on 28 of September using the standard type. Till now the passport is still with ukvi as we speak, we have done so many escalations via paid calls and mails and even submitted complaint form twice regarding the release of his passport but we keep hearing it has been escalated and though, the decision has been made on the 29th of October. Today makes it 55 working days excluding weekends . . I even went ahead to meet with the MP of where I live to help me out on this but I have nt heard anything yet.
Please how what can we get the passport back please
.
Thanks This is really sad, many are going through the same problem with you but sadly you can not do more what you have already done. Have you emailed them and asked to cancel your application? |

mamatwiny: At ppl talking about not paying quarantine hotel, my advise is- if you can afford it, just pay and enter. That was how my family was hoping that the review will be in 2 weeks as mentioned previously , hoping to travel on our intended date and boom, the ban caught up with us. Time is of essence in this journey and every second counts.
I was processing Australia work visa around June/July last year before they announced lockdown and till now they have not opened. All money spent on the assessments, ielts, etc gone. Just make hay while the sun shines or all that have been spent so far may be wasted .
It is a game of probability now and it could go either way. You will make back the money in 2 months if you are a dependant and you are ready to work. How about those who can not afford it? How about those who has a place to quarantine but was forced to pay £2585 in 10days and at the end test negative? People who have tested negative 48/24hrs before arriving or 2days after arriving should not be forced to pay that stupid money. You decided to come to the UK after the rule was introduced then it’s your problem, pay whatever you are asked to pay because you knew the consequences of your trip but for those who got caught out while away should be allowed to quarantine in their homes. I planned to go through out countries not in red list but I have changed my mind. We will sort ourselves out at Heathrow airport when I get there because that money is not coming out of my bank account. |

My hubby is curently in the UK as a student and I'm also in the UK as his dependent his student visa is going to expire in March, 2021. Now he wants me to apply for asylum in scotland. I don't know on what storyline, i just need an advice if it's a safe route to consider or i should just shut his idea. Please I'm in dire need of urgent advice Don’t because you will not get accepted. You are not a genuine asylum seeker, you and your husband have a history in the UK already so there is nothing to lie about. Your husband is not thinking straight |

Pearlyfaze : So Nigerians are really paying for this hotel quarantine stuff. If we do not book or pay for it, they will end it in 3 days. But because we are desperate they will milk us. Chineke biko mee ebere.I’m asking the same question, Nigerians are only good at making noise no action. Just imagine how unfair this is.. the British govt arranged a hotel for you, decided the cost, decided the cost of food, transportation to the hotel, total it and asked you to pay. Even when you have tested negative before arriving the UK. British nationals arriving in Nigeria are free to walk out of the airport free without quarantining. Other Europeans and Americans are free to enter the UK without quarantining, only few African countries made the list. This is more than just an insult |
