1. If you leave UK after the end of a valid visa and come back before 6months with another valid visa.
The less than 6months of absence counts towards 10 years continuous stay.

2. Visit visa also counts towards the 10 years.
Now I am wondering if someone comes 5 months at a time and do so for 10 years will they be granted ILR??

That will not work, visiting and living in the UK are not the same.

This is not good enough, quarantine to pay £2500+ in 10days? They should allow people to quarantine with relatives/their own houses and this should apply to everyone coming into the UK and not just few African countries alone.

This information is wrong, the onus is where the traveller has been for the last 10 days. If you was in a green zone the last 10/11 days B4 you enter the Uk, you are good.

That is a different case as i have stated in subsequent posts

Justwise you are sounding more concerned about the feasibility (cost and visa availability) rather than the actual possibility.
Personally I always have multiple valid visas in my passport.
I would rather add some money to that 2k pounds and take a short holiday in Turkey, Dubai or visit family in the USA or Canada or elsewere rather than dash the hime office and be stuck in a room in a holiday inn eating crap thrice daily.

..and how about those who have family only in the UK or student with visa already?

If this is the case of holiday then i wouldn't encourage my enemy to come to the UK now as there are loads of countries to visit.

Yes that is the whole idea of 10days isolation rule, just do PCR test 48/24hrs before boarding and complete the locator form

Well, I have been in Dubai since 8th of this month and my flight ✈️ to Birmingham is 21st, which numerically means I have stayed in a Green List country for more than 10 days and that’s what I will be filling inside the passengers locator form…

When I was booking my flight at emirates airline office here, their agent only asked how many days would it have amounted to between the days I got here and the day I plan to travel, the answer was 13 days and his response was; you are good to go, but you have to ensure your Covid-19 test is negative in the last 24 hours and you must remember to fill a passenger locators form…

Well let’s see how this play out.

That is it, isolation in the UK is 10days but you have done 13days and with negative PCR you are good to go.

Google that you may come across some that offers one or two deal for students

it is not about the visa.. it is about the red list country! This is what is been done over and over again. Something i saw with my two eyes.. pakistan was on the red list, they travelled from Pakistan to USA and stayed there for 2 weeks, then USA to UK with same Pakistan issued visit visa whilst Pakistan still stayed on the red list. You will be allowed in. Same way if you go to Turkey/Ghana or any non red list nation for 10 days, you can skip the compulsory quarantine.

That is why you have a passenger locator form… this is what is used at the border.. not where you obtained visa from… it only asks where you have been in the last 10 days.. as long as it is not a red list country, it will tell u only about day 2 pcr and pre departure pcr..

You are talking about something different here, if you got nobody to live with in USA how much will it cost you to live in a hotel in USA for two weeks compare £2000+ for 10days.
Come to think about it, you also need to apply for US visa to be able to travel there to isolate for 2wks.

So a uk student Visa issued in Nigeria can be used to travel from Cameroon. Cameroon isn't on the red list. Maybe a favorable option.

You will stay isolate and pay for the £2000+ you don't live in Cameron and the visa was not issued there

omo I beg to differ. Colleagues’ parents and family tried this thing when India and Pakistan was on the list. I was just watching film. The problem is the VIRUS from the ‘red list’ not the visa. They do not want anyone from a red list country coming here. As long as you technically wipe your red list history by coming from a non red list nation, you will scale. Seen so many examples of this.

How will you do that holding visiting visa? Travel to non-red list country then from there buy another ticket to the UK? When you land at Heathrow with Nigerian passport what happens?

I don’t think the issuing country is a problem according to the circular. The visa doesn’t even state where it was issued.
If the visa is valid then it should be permissible.
Anyways, I think the best thing would be to confirm from them first before going on my trip.

Issuing country is the major prob here, if you live in Ghana or Cameron as a Nigerian and got your visa there you will be allowed to enter the UK without restriction. Even if its not written on the visa they still know where the application was made and other details

Look at the exemptions to see if your purpose of coming to the UK fails under that

Not really, i started from undergraduate with 4yrs visa and you get 3yrs then for visa extension + PSW + masters

Even if you tried to travel through green list country it will not work because your visa was issued in Nigeria

It's insane to say the least. There are more cases of this new variant in the UK and other EU countries than Nigeria and other African countries in that list but few African countries were targeted and shamed.

Why not allow people to quarantine in their houses or allow them to leave the hotel if they tested negative in day2? Everyone else is walking freely untested spreading it while a few are forced to pay £££ to isolate.

If decided to come to the UK after this rule was introduced then pay whatever they charged you but don't make everyone else to pay that money.

You will be fined 4K or 10k pounds and still pay for the hotel. It will also go on your record and affect future applications in the uk.

The problem is with immigration and airlines, as they will not even allow you to get to checking in desk without showing those documents let alone board .

The British govt gives the instructions and they carried it out. Apart from that many British passport holders will not end up in any stupid hotel because you can not physically force anybody to do that .

Yes that was exactly what I was told at the clinic,aparantly that was the new rule but on govt website or says 48hrs.
