To add to this.. you need to make care arrangement and add the details and budget to your visa application. Some schools have family oriented accommodation or you search within the school post code. |

DeeOneBangin: If you like read up my post one million times, you will never find anything relating to me saying that you lied to the op.
Maybe you should actually even read again; I started my post with “I like it when one tells the truth on their application irrespective of the outcome (approval/refusal)”
You are quoting a rule that says there should be a strong and compelling reason which is the fact. And I am putting it to you that “ only saying your husband doesn’t wanna leave his job is not strong and compelling enough. Which is what you are advocating to the Op.
Then I shared my experience relating to your advice, afterwards I gave my own advice which is left to the Op to take or not.
Then talking about lies; Yes, my old man was truthful about his application and he followed the rules.
So what’s the fuss all about in me sharing my personal experience. I don’t get!
If you say wives here have gotten visas for their babies without their husbands, let them come out and say the REASON is solely because their husbands doesn’t wanna leave their jobs.
I will advice the Op and anybody who cares to listen again and again, apply with your hubby and kids, then let him come back home to his job. Talking from experience!!! You quoted my post and made that comment and my question to you is..who is lying? No your daddy was given a dependant visa to stay in the Uk with his family and not to return to Nigeria just after. The whole idea of dependant visa is for the couple and their kids to stay in the UK to support each other. |

DeeOneBangin: Justwise I like it when one tells the truth on the their application irrespective of the outcome (approval/refusal).
In my own experience years years ago 14-15yrs back (HSMP/Tier 1 General migrant), myself, my sister and my mom (main applicant) were all refused because my dad didn’t apply with us even though there was a consent letter from my dad stating the reasons. This was the main reason for refusal.
Mom later applied alone and travelled to the UK.
2 years later, I was over 18 at the time I couldn’t apply again as a dependant. My sister applied as a dependant but she was refused again simply because my dad didn’t apply with her. My dad wrote a consent letter oooo and mentioned how he was a high ranking civil servant with the federal government.
Weeks after getting the refusal, dad now agreed to eventually apply with my sister and they were both granted. They went to the uk together and popsie came back a week later. Both mom and sis now have red passports despite the fact that popsie wasn’t involved in future applications.
All I am trying to say is that those entry clearance officers are crazy.
All of you can apply together including your husband. Then he can later come back and decide what he wants to do later in future. I;m reading your post trying to figure out the lies in what i told the op to do. That rule made an exception which comes into play in her case, if you can not travel as a couple you need to provide a strong and compelling reason why you can not travel as a couple. That is the rule, i did not made that up. Some married members here over the years have gotten a visa without their husband if you have being following this thread. Talking about lies..do you think your daddy was truthful by returning to Nigeria without staying back to support his family in the UK? |

Buku: My husband cant come with me to the UK because of his job and he wants us to go through the court for the sole custody thing, so I was wondering if it makes sense to be married and have sole custody of our baby. This is fraudulent and will not help your visa application one bit. Your husband can not leave his job just to come to the UK to support you, you can get a visa without him tagging along with you . All you need is a good and plausible reason why he could not come along with you and the kid. |

Are there any implications if I study a course that is not accredited by a regulating body. In my case, I am going for MA-Journalism.
I noticed that journalism in the UK is accredited by NCTJ & BJTC.
Some of the schools I have in mind don’t have the course accredited by these bodies. Schools like MMU, SHU, Uni of Chester and Leeds Beckett don’t have this course accredited yet they offer it. I went the extra mile of checking their websites just to be sure. (nctj & bjtc websites).
From experience, what do you have to say or advice. If the course is not accredited it means that employers will not be able to verify it, there is no way to know if the awarding university meets high standards of quality for that course, if you have a job already then accreditation does not matter that much |

Islamiat01: @justwise @mimlyrics and other people in the house, please I want to ask what to do. My husband wants to apply for dependent visa but let me explain this - I applied for student visa as (Single) last year Dec 8 and I was granted the visa Jan 11. During my visa application processing I was single and after applying for my visa I got married Dec 30 before my visa came out Jan 11.The question now is do I need to change my name on my passport and my status to (married) before the commencement of my hubby processing or I should ignore and explain to the UKVI why I’m not having the same name with my hubby? ***Note - I’m already in the UK. Please I need your responses on this issue. Thanks You don't need to change anything but his application could attract extra look considering the gap between you securing a visa as a single woman and getting married right after that. You need to explain that within the form or add extra paper that contains the explanation. They will likely run a check on your marriage certificate but you got nothing to worry about if all is legit. |

Are people who graduated from certain schools preferred to the others in terms of employability or everyone stands a fair chance regardless of what school you attend. Ranking matters big time though it doesn’t mean that people who graduated from lower ranked universities will not get a good job. |

LagosismyHome: And when wahala starts its only you that will carry that cross. What worked for someone few years ago might not work in 2021 .however when the advice is made it doesn't factor that the system is changing as well to be more equipped
For example HMRC now has a "better" real time PAYE reporting for employers , making it much harder to work under the table. HMRC has also implemented better system to match your earnings with NI and that info is accessible during visa renewal Coming to the UK to study is a good thing and should be encourage but you have to prepare financially, i think its a lot better to get a loan in Nigeria and payback with part time job and PSW. Schooling and worrying about fees, rent and bills is a terrible thing. Very few came out of it with a good memory. |

chrisj2: Ha ha ha...
To be fair, I am reading millions of naira on the student visa thread and I am thinking, where is all these money coming from... The cost of international studentship is really so high that you sometimes wonder if it is really worth it for many many students...
And I also wonder about the game the UK government is playing... They like money too much.
Anyways, words to the wise. You advice but it is up to them to listen and/or reason...
* We all have our skeletons but we should keep them firmly in the closet not here in a public forum. A good number of them don't have that money, get someone to pay money into your account, wait for 28days and printout the bank statement then return the money, that is the common practice. When someone will be asking for a school that accepts £1000 deposit that tells you all you need to know.. |

I believe this would be breaching the terms upon which your visa was granted and affect you later when you want to apply for PSW or tier 2 or even ILR.
Anyway each to their own but I believe we should all strive to stay on the right side of the law.

dont discourage her. let her achieve her dream. u only need to balance the remaining 50% before season ends not 3months. if u resume January u need to balance by August end b4 another season start by September. una no go apply to better sch and city
Take a bold step my dear and pursue ur dream. even Nigerians abroad are full of discouragement and selfishness. u will understand when u re here. be determined. and God help you Yes i'm in the UK and yes i'm familiar with the system and i did it under a different visa rules and condition. I don't think you have a clue though considering the fact that you called workplace self employment even as many work placement pays little or nothing. I don't know any school that will give you almost a year to pay up school fees even when you submitted bank statement during your visa application that shows that you have all the money. |

Iyanu6000: Good Evening,
I was told i can apply to schools, pay part of the fees and work to pay for the balance.
How true is this? i am trying to apply for a masters...will i get a job that would be sufficient for me to pay for my fees and my upkeep?
Regards I wouldn’t encourage you to take this step because chances are that you will fail to pull through even with 50% school fees paid and this is why.. If your school fees is £10k for example and you paid £5K, the school will likely give you 3months to pay up the balance , so you have Sep to Dec to come up with that money. Working 20hrs a week from Sep to Dec if you are lucky to get a job that quick will not give you £5K savings, even if the school gave you 4months to pay up and you are earning £10-11 per hour and saved every penny you earned without paying rent, bills, food and transportation. To pay up that balance within 3-4 months you need to be earning at least £1500 monthly and live on a very tight budget. If you can’t pay then financial documents you submitted during your visa application will be questioned |

Okelity2812: Here is my issue; i was refused visa on the financial grounds. UKVI refused me visa stating that i'm supposed to have an a closing account balance of 20006pounds, but that is not the case by my calculation my account balance should be 15306 pounds. Here is how i arrived my conclusion; my school fees is 14000 of which i paid 6000 and was given a discount of 4700 by the school which amounts to 10700 pounds and a balance of 3300 pounds to be paid to the school. it should be noted that i am aware of 12006 living expenses and as a result of which i had a balance of 17004 in my bank statement. My CAS only showed that 6000 was paid by me and failed to mention the 4700pounds discount that was given to me(i didn't know it was supposed to reflect on my CAS). UKVI refused me visa saying that i can apply for administrative review. i complained about the decision to my school and they said they'll look into it and carry out proper investigation. however, my fear is that i dont know if the school will write to UKVI saying they made mistake on my CAS or will they ask me to apply for again of which another bank statement will be required, i no longer posses such funds in my account . please i'd like to know if someone has experienced something similar and what my next course of action should be This is exactly why we discourage people from using build accountHopefully your school contract the embassy to take responsibility of the mistake and the embassy reconsider their decision. If the school issues you another CAS and you reapply with that bank statement then pray long and hard that they don’t run a check on it else you are looking at 10yrs ban from the UK |
