TheGuyFromHR: When I first came to the UK, I had an old secondary school friend in London who had been living here for more than 10 years by that time and who told me to "avoid Nigerian churches in London o"
I told him that I even avoid Nigerian churches in Lagos self, so no worries.
Good decision.
2yrs ago a friend stopped going to one Nigerian church i think in London too because of heavy financial demand.
According to him..he pays 10% of his salary as tithe, £30 monthly for kingdom investment. £10 weekly to support God's work or what he calls mission support. Every Dec they have thanksgiving service where members are tasked to pay certain amount. 2yes ago they were asked to pay £1000 each for certain project, a year after that its £500 at least.
Then every Jan you have to give up your salary as first fruit and you still have to sold-seed and appreciate pastor from time to time.
Well .. like people have said already you need to come with money....you know that maintenance money and school fees you presented during visa application? You need to come with it .
1. Get part time job as soon as possible, don't pick and choose jobs until you settle.
2. You need to learn how to cook and not depend on eating out
3. Avoid getting contract phone, get sim-only contract from Smarty, meaning you only pay for what you used.
4. Look for bills inclusive accommodation a bit far from town centre...just 10-15mins walking distance to university .
5. Pick carefully the type of African/Nigerian church to attend.
So I got my tier 4 student visa and I'm officially about to start my 10years journey to settlement ( I hope I will be able to cut it down to 8years sha)
Please I'm preparing for the whole travels , I will like to ask the elders in the house what are the necessary stuffs for to bring to UK. Be it food items or anything that will be cheaper for me to get from here and other tips for someone coming alone to UK ( I don't have any family member or Friend there)
I will also like to know about the prospect of MSc Civil and Structural Engineering in UK ( that's what I will be studying),
I look forward to hearing from you guys. Thank you in advance
Please my aunt is about to apply for visa for herslf and her son. But we are so confused on how to go about it. My aunt was once married but her husband abandoned her and left for Uk for like 9 years now. He no longer cares for his family and no communication with the family. We got information from the cousin that he is staying in UK as an illegal immigrant.
Our question now is: 1) If we should fill his details as my aunt husband and father to her son. She has been the only one catering for her son for 9 years now.
2)Will filling his details on their application affect their chances of getting a visa based on his immigration status. Please what can she do about this.
Ps: my aunt was later in a relationship with another man for a year now. Can he stand for them?
@mimilyrics @Lagosismyhome @ Justwise and all the gurus in the house.
.
His immigration status in the UK will likely have an effect on there application, there is no way to proof that he is not in communication with his family back in Nigeria, this could be seen as a way of bringing his family to join him .
Your aunt will need letter of consent from him to travel with those kids.
SirToby: Good evening friends. I was going through this thread yesterday and the writer clearly advised any new immigrant to stay from Nigerian churches abroad in other to avoid drama and Toxicity.
Please I want people to share the experiences with Nigerian churches abroad.
I am planing to travel out before this year runs out and I needs to be well informed with regards to churches. Relocating to UK (london) has never been part of my plan due to high population of Nigerians residing there. Why should I leave Nigeria for another country with high concentration of Nigerians. It makes no difference anymore.
Please kindly help us share your experiences with Nigerian churches abroad. Thanks
Cc: DisGuy, justwise
Nigerian churches in Nigeria are not different from those abroad, just another branch in another country.
ednut1: Den of gossips and envy, people nacking each other's wives/ husband, competition and back biting, pastors always want to milk you with different tithes and some have awards and special callouts for highest tithers ( na there you go know say mr sola doesn't have a mortgage but went to buy an expensive car, sister Mary is an assylum seeker using female genital mutilation formats, bro Kenneth married an old mama for papers bla bla bla)
The good side- socialization (abroad life is lonely), invites to birthday, naming and weddings etc.
Oyinbo churches are somewhat calm, they are not tithe and offering obsessed, everyone minds their own businesses.
Source - used to attend one in Birmingham back in 2006 with my mother . Stopped being religious shortly after that . Na scam
awumen: On spamming,Yes while on him willing to help I will say No. I have received lots of help here, from nairaland I have come to see future and hope in Nigeria because of the wonderful and honest people I have met (not in real life o) here. He is only willing to give what he has received here. I will advise you let him do that, after all the help is only for those who will need it and make request.
I'm not sure you understood what is going on here . So in your own wisdom that individual got help here 6yrs ago but decided to register today? Ready to offer strangers here an accommodation for the period of isolation?
Labio0004: Smiles. I am only offering assistance or support if you need it as I was once in your shoes and I got help from someone on nairaland in 2015.
Palazo: With all due respect bro, I never asked anybody to rush me or ask me of recommendation but if I'm opportuned sure I will. Please let's not flood here with arguments instead of questions and answers we all can learn from, thank you........
Sorry I have to remove your post but not because I believed that you are a scammer or intentionally trying to promote an agent. I think your post as innocent as it looks will lead to the end of this thread.
The pressure and the temptation to turn this thread to money making venture is enviable
NigPatriot: Please Justwise can you push this thread to the top so that it can be accessible as the earlier closed thread was. Finding this thread alone one has to scroll and search.
adigun98: Hello there lovely peeps ,I been trying to make some enquiry about a good country I can leave to outside Africa and I got to speak with a relative who is in the UK and he advised me to talk to one agent ....He said with 2.5 I could get a UK student visa but I'm worried if that would be enough or I'm I about to be played ?
ottiz: @Justwise, I would like to pay for SAT1/ACT/SAT2 test of 10 underprivileged but brilliant 16-19 year old students. How do I go about it to make sure the deserving students get it?
You can test them with mock test samples similar to actual material.. you can get sample questions online
missjekyll: both my brp and passport are up for renewal. I m not sure I can get a new brp based on an expired passport.
Now I understand where you are coming from.
Can you email HomeOffice first to explain your situation? I think considering this situation you should be able to renew your brp with expired passport.
LagosismyHome: A friend travelled with both British and an expired Nigerian passport and it was absolutely fine....so had both in her possession. .. This was even last year February 2020 (before covid) , BA checked her in with no issues, she got to Nigeria and told an officer to meet her at lagos airport but that oga self no show but it was absolutely fine . They didnt ask or say anything
We later asked a lawyer and he said for dual citizens going to NAija it's fine if naija passport is expired ( The lawyer said he done it several times) That if it's one passport holder then a travel certificate is needed or a valid passport.
TheGuyFromHR: A friend went back earlier this year with his British passport and expired Nigerian passport and he said they let him in no questions asked. He couldn't get an ETC from the HC, was in a rush (father died and they were burying fast due to Covid protocols). I'm not saying this is the standard procedure now, might just be a relaxation of whatever the rules are due to Covid. He's getting a passport now for the outbound trip just in case.
I have done similar thing 6yrs ago but my passport has few days validity on it before I entered Nigeria but it expired while I was in Nigerian.
When questioned by the immigration I told them that I will renew it when I get to the UK. The immigration office asked me to step aside while she kept attending to others and ignored me.
30mins or so later she called me to question me again I repeated what I told her before. She gave up and allowed me to boarding as I’m not willing to sort
Proppie: A friend of mine who is 27 years old lives in Nigeria, but his mother who is about 70 years old travelled to the England when he was just 3 years of age, now that she is old, is there a way that she can send for him to come and take care of her in England considering her age and his age too?.. Is there any England visa law that makes provision for such a case?
Please chairman... Do you have any idea or know someone who has an idea on this question?...
I really need more info about this, my passport expired last year and if this news is true then i don't have to worry about dealing with Nigerian embassy
fynblackboy: where is this stated in the rule....please help us out.... the rule states that the money must be in the account for 28 days. it didnt state that it should remain until the outcome of the visa decision..... the only problem with this is when asked to get an updated statement of account by ukvi
You obviously did not read the rule or you have not being following this thread because we have discussed this over and over again and I dropped the part of the rule that stated that the money should also be available to you in the UK.
If you removed the money and return it or used it before getting to the UK.. how will you pay your school fees or survive in the UK.
In the application form you have stated that you have the money to study in the UK and claimed the awarded points but in reality you don’t have that money, is that not misrepresentation?
Go back and read the rule again and tell me if it’s not written there.
If this is about showing the money for 28days then that is it then anybody can afford to study in the UK
Aykomo02: This is my story I married my spouse 2014,he based in uk,but because of d anxiety that I want to go nd meet my husband we made a wrong decision,I applied for visitor visa 2015 through an agent who told us he will provide all necessary documents because then my husband was not having a good job nd he just moved frm London to Manchester, not knowing dis guy used fake documents nd all,he even changed my spouse to another name nd provide another marriage certificate nd I was refused due to fake bank statements nd fake references, though I dnt knw why I was refused because he ran away with refusal letter,Nov last year I applied for spouse visa when my husband is financially ok nd we have all d evidence, and I was refused because I provided my marriage certificate of 2014 with my husband when I told them am still living with my previous husband in my previous application with marriage certificate,so they are convinced that my marriage with my real husband is not genuine,am confused on what to do because we want to appeal N.B———I can’t find d agent and I dnt knw what date he filled for my previous marriage certificate even if I want to apply for divorce paper Pls help me because am going through trauma already What can I do to correct my mistakes....thanks in advance.Below I included my reason of refusal

You need to stop blaming the agent and come clean in your next application else the Homeoffice will frustrate you with refusals as you keep applying and wasting money.
