mamajaz: Well done here to justwise and a host of others. Unfortunately, I forgot to consult nairaland while making my tier 2 visa application last few days, now having trouble "why the delay"? I was refused a visitor's visa to Oz last year on the ground that I had no travel history, my letter of introduction from employer was not addressed to the visa officer and that the said letter was not current as at then. Now, while applying, I quoted the VO's stance on my visa refusal, then made a statement that I would bring in the introduction letter during appointment ( which I did). Also, I printed the denial history ( 7 pages) and submitted them during my appointment.
However, I've been waiting anxiously to see " decision made" since Wednesday that UKVI sent a mail that it had received my application. I'm so confused right now. Did I do anything wrong by putting the refusal documents ( 3 people told me not to include the papers)? Will it impact on my application outcome negatively? What else could I have done differently? I've been thinking that I ought to have submitted a written and signed "personal statement".
A friend got her priority visa outcome on the second day of appointment, but mine is going to day 4 and this weekend is not helping matters either, status still at received by UKVI.
Please, I need reassurance or rebuke. Was this super priority application? Bytheway submitting the refusal letter was absolutely the right thing to do. |

Maestro001: I disagree with you on that note;because I have a friend who got approved with a BSC and he went for a diploma in Welding;he studied physics. So what do you have to say about that ? Apply and come back here to tell us the outcome. I still maintain my initial comment, it does not show any progress and you are likely to be refused. |

Mamatukwas: Please I need people who know to advice me.
I applied for my 2nd cousin who just finished HND to come visit us. Family visitor to stay for 3 months. My husband sponsored completely. They refused her on the grounds that - She has completed her studies - made no mention of her future employment, schooling or social plans and so they are not convinced if she’s truly a visitor or will leave the UK afterwards.
We plan to reapply for her again a bit later. I’m thinking of either- Looking for affordable schooling options for her ( will cost money but I genuinely like the girl and I need the help no matter how small) or apply and say she’s coming to take care of me as il be having a procedure done later in the year.
What do you guys think? Will either work or nah? Will try and get her a job in the meantime but I really would like her to come visit and go back.
Will appreciate your input. Thanks. Take student route if you can afford it but visiting visa route chances are almost zero |

Naiobi: Hello all,
Can someone advice if it's necessary to include a letter from your bank (stating that the money needed has been maintenaned for the required period) along with your bank statement when applying for a tier 2 dependant visa? (Kindly see attachment)
I understand you only need your bank statement, but found this and it got me a little confused.
Also, when is it okay to print the statement? Is it immediately after online application, or is it okay to print a day to your biometrics appointment?
I really sorry if this question has been answered here before, haven't come across it yet.
@justwise, your input will be appreciated.
Many thanks N Add it if you can and have peace of mind |

Austacus: Well... I will do my findings and take correction : But I doubt you are correct because travel history for Canada, US visa is mostly from a developed country like US, Canada, Schengen countries, Singapore, Aus, NZ,Europe etc : Don't give me an incomplete answer that US visa refusal adversely affects the chances of getting Canada visa I am pretty sure that Canada & US are members of the five-eye group, mainly to share criminal-immigration related data. So I will agree with you if you'd say ”not directly, it may affect” And who's to say that the US visa refusal was not "normal"? For all we know, it might have been refused because of some criminal matter. so that could affect the chances of Canadian visa. The two countries have different purpose of visit. This is a flawed argument, going by your line of reasoning its fair to assume that Dubai, South Africa, Russia or China are not developed countries? South Africa has one of the toughest visa rules in Africa especially for Nigerians and getting SA visa is tough, so if you are able to get a SA visa, travel and return even with all the strict rules then that counts as a good travel history. My initial point was referring to your point that US visa refusal will only affect one's Canadian visa application if that person is banned by US. One could be sent back at POE in US and visa cancelled without being banned, if you travel to US and overstayed your visa and return to reapply your application will be refused but you will not be banned. If you traveled to US and use your visa to give birth without declaring it during the interview you will be refused a reapplication without being banned. If you decided to apply for Canada visa your application is likely to be refused because of your history with US. That was why i selected that section of your post and made my comment which was misconstrued |

Frankrobbn1: @Justwise, The information put forward by you is false.
US visa refusal has no direct negative effect to a Canada Study Visa and will not be an automatic reason for a refusal. It is noted that Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand and other first-rate European countries collaborate with each other by sharing and making information available on visa matters to every one.
With that said, when filling a Canada Study permit IMM1294E application form, under the background information section 2: A question is thrown to every applicant: Have you ever been refused a visa or permit, denied entry or ordered to leave Canada OR any other country?
On the account that the applicant can veraciously and truthfully answer the above question as stated on the form, signifying that he/she has been refused a visa to the US, also indicating the reason for the refusal, and the date of visa rejection. There is no red flag and would not adversely affect the outcome of the Canada Study Permit.
After reviewing this part (background check), the visa officer move on to check the application entirety to know if the applicant ties is sufficient enough to compel their departure after studies and the likelihood of the applicant not to over stay their visit to Canada after the authorized period of stay. The visa officer will also check if the applicant have legitimate and adequate financial resources to support their planned study in Canada and to ascertain that the applicant wouldn't be a burden to the Canadian government or have any recourse to public funds during the course of study in Canada.
Consequently, provided that the applicant can show sufficient ties to their home country, the reasonableness of undertaking the program in Canada and adequate and legitimate source of funds to cater for their stay. The visa officer has no objection but to approve the application based on the information presented by the applicant.
Cc: Emiyrab will tell better about the above information presented by me.
Therefore, to recapitulate, NO a US visa refusal without a ban or criminal record has no negative effect for a Canadian study visa.
As regards to South Africa and Dubai being a good travel history. The answer is NO. A good travel histories for a Canadian study visa are trips to first-rate countries namely.... US, New Zealand, UK, Australia, Ireland, Paris, Turkey etc.
I was reviewing an applicant GCMS note last week, and the visa officer stated: "The applicant's prior travel history is insufficient to count as a positive factor in my assessment." Mind you, the applicant has travelled to Ghana, South Africa and Dubai. This is a clear evidence that these countries do not count as a travel history.
Cc: Austacus is very right with his stand point.
Cheers! The problem with this monologue is that you did not read and understand my post before replying |

Austacus: Your funds is very good and it can give you a visa and your current employment are good also. so now, you will have to work on your family tie and purpose of Visit. Just to let you know that Dubai and South Africa is not regarded as a travel history (as far as Canada visa is concerned) well, they don't just refuse visa on zero travel history, though they will mention it with other reasons Tackle the other reasons and travel history will fly away. Your US denial doesn't have any negative influence on your Canada visa... it does, if you were banned. If you're not in a rush, order your Gcms to know the exact thoughts of the VO that handled your application. July is summer so you have time to order for your Gcms I'm sorry but this is misleading and not really helpful. Traveling to those two countries especially South Africa counts as travel history and US visa denial could have negative effect not only when you are banned from US |

wetdick: This is not a hate speech but a good rant. if you like comment, it is not by force.
I am tired of you guys especially many of you that call yourself Nigerians, the moment you step feet abroad, your next ambition is to be a social justice warrior and a fan of liberal ideas of equality and all sorts of ideology that are unrealistic or goes against the African cultures, you are easily manipulated and easily deceived by western cultures then you start bashing anything Nigerian or African especially many of our women, things are not perfect here but once you land in that western countries suddenly, you became aware of rights and some fancy political ideas that will destroy mankind. let's think about this for a moment, wherein nature is there equality? i am for equal opportunities but that should not mean you will get everything on a platter of gold, even among men where is the equality, you guys become so extreme that political correctness is your logo, nobody can say their opinion without being called a misogynist, of what purpose is a discussion if everything ends in abuse.
Some of you guys are bringing what you learnt abroad here into our society, disrupting social norms and creating more divide and hate, just last year there was a protest in yaba by women who claimed they are fighting against sellers who drag or touch them when they want to buy something in the market, I laugh when I saw the protest, I know one of your agents was there among you protester(the white woman who is brainwashing you guys), is it not funny that the main culprits of sexual harassments and molestations are the big men in high places, in offices, the man that will call you to hotels before he can give you a job, you guys didn't take your fight and protest to them because you know most of you will lose your job or lose their friendships, the easier target to show your guilt and frustration is the poor seller selling in yaba. I am so happy they laughed at you guys
I hope you guys will change, universities in the western world are turning to brainwashing centers where strange ideologies are taught instead of education, on campuses, nobody wants to hear other people viewpoint, sometimes the professor makes it seems like, as a black man or woman, the system is against you, which is not true, they are programming you to be a loser, not to work hard, to blame the white man, to blame the system instead of taking responsibility for yourself. some of these Nigerians studying in western universities are so brainwashed that when they come to Nigeria, they think everybody is out to get them especially when they fail, i hope one day you see through this madness.
Just because you saw all the materialism of the western world doesn't mean we in Africa are stupid, we need to protect our culture and heritage. the western world is trying their best to destroy our culture and identity, so that we can accept anything, once you destroy a man culture and identity, you can indoctrinate him or her just like what they are doing in the west especially in America, i hope we will open our eyes and see what these type of people and their agents are doing here. some of you are indirectly and directly their agents. pls, wisen up, if your idea can not help lift millions of Nigerians from poverty, pls keep your divisive and hate ideas in your pocket and don't think you are better than Nigerian here because you are living abroad.
some of you when you are back in Nigeria suffer from returnee syndrome, thinking you deserve the best jobs and opportunity because you studied abroad. I just hope and pray to God that you are the only one with this troubling mentality in Nigeria |

I just submitted an application for my Parent and my sister for vacation in the UK and they have an appointment by the end of the month. -I will be the sole sponsor of everything -I live and work in the US, I also have a business in Nigeria that I run from the US. -Last year I sponsored my parents to the US and my sister to Dubai cos she was refused a US vis. -Now I want them to go and celebrate my Dads birthday in the UK and also my parents wedding anniversary.
-I have paid their visa fee and all. But I need an advise on what are the appropriate documents I need to put together so their application can be approved.
FYI - I am using my Nigerian personal account for my business. But the flow is very funny (if 50m enter there today, I will transfer it out within 1weeek because I have to convert it to dollar to be able to use in the US for my business), so I dont know if this will be a red flag!
-Also I earn 6figures in the US which is evidence with my paycheck and account statement (Is this sufficient to prove or I should add my Naija Acct? The point is everytime money leaves my Nigerian account, it can be evidenced in my US account)
So please, what does the right documentation looks like for me. What should my cover letter look like? Please I need help.

Desore: Hello Gurus,
Greetings!
I intend to apply for 2 years visa.
My concerns are these.
1. I don't leave cash in my salary account but I have maintained a minimum balance of 350k and have been using my salary account for my investments. In July, when I got my first 6months Visa, I started running 2 mutual fund accounts (ARM and Stanbic) which I transfer 50k and 80k to the mutual accounts respectively, I do this same day I get my salary. The worth of both Mutual Funds is about 300k and 400k individually.
2. In August, I did a T-Bills investment of 1m for 91 days tenor which dropped in November and in same month of November I did another one for 91 days and it dropped on Jan 31, 2019.
Since I will be applying for 2 years visa this month, I decided to let the money rest in my account. The balance of my salary account is about 1.4m
Do I need to get a letter for both mutual funds accounts and statements?
Do I have to provide the T-bills certificate for the already matured investments so that it won't be termed as Lodgement?
Hope my application won't be complicated?
How do i demonstrate, that i need to visit the UK regularly
Hope its qualifies / eligible for 2 years visa
Basic info. My salary is 260k Im single Family invitation (Uncle)
Thank you for your assistance.
Cc: @justwise What is your budget for the trip? |
