worry359: Possibly yes, a waste of money. But some do it just for a quiet life. The TV Licence people have no sense of when to stop. They will stop when you stand up to them, you will not go to jail or prison for refusing to pay for something you don't use. |
Travel › Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by justwise(mod): 12:57pm On Feb 21, 2015 |
worry359: You COULD all put together and buy a licence. that would stop the nonsence. But that is being honest straightforward and simple.
Or you can sit back and worry all day about it, they will not go away. Why would they pay when they don't even have TV? What evidence is there that they watch TV? Paying for such is a complete waste of money. |

gcey2k: Hello Bosses in the house...
Recall I posted about a TV license issue some weeks ago.
we just received a mail notifying us about a court hearing... or to attest we don't need the license online or phone.
I tried filling the online form and I was expected to tick boxes of things I don't do (including streaming of live matches)... I stopped there
Should I go on and fill it? Or wait for the court summons?
I have the intention of calling my agent/landlord for his counsel on the matter as the previous unreplied mails they sent wasn't for us the new tennants.
Please I need your advice on this urgently
Thanks
cc justwise spikesC Lexusgs430 worry359 Send email or call them to complain about the harassment, the letter is for the previous occupant so they may not know that. If you don't have TV then you don't watch one. The idea of asking foreign students to pay TV license because they watch clips on their laptop or tablet is nonsense. If you don't contact them to explain things then they will keep sending it. |

audreypatrick20: Good Day Nairalanders...please i need clarification on my visa application documents to canada; 1. i have worked in a microfinance bank for over 4yrs, where i earn 180,000/month after tax. do i need to show tax clearance certificate as i do not have one. although the bank deducts tax from the workers salary (PAYE) which does reflects on my pay slip. 2. I intend to use my salary account with the microfinance bank, will the VO accept statement of account from my salary account with the bank? I currently have over N800,000 in my salary account with the microfinance bank and i intend to apply for a 2 weeks vacation to see my first cousin in canada. 3. food and accommodation will be taken care of by her, what document does she need to provide apart from her permanent residency card, utility bill and prove of where she works (her ID card). 4. my travel history includes; Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Benin republic and Togo 5. does she have to mail origonal copy of letter of invitation to me, or is the scanned signed copy okay?? 6. my ties in nigeria are my husband and my work and couple with the fact that i will be travelling to UK with my husband by August this year. apart from all these documents, i included; police clearance, marriage cert, to whom it may concern letter, letter of consent from my husband and utility bills of our present house of residence.
what else could be lacking, please i urgently need answers. God bless Ask your question here https://www.nairaland.com/2103860/canada-visit-tourist-visa-discussion |

mizIvy: Collected my passport today and it's a refusal. Reason is that: "I note that the balance of your account has been augmented by the payment of a large deposit of 1,323.454.12. And you have provide no evidential documents that show the origins of the payment you have submitted no evidence of your sponsor's income financial commitments. I have therefore been unable to assess the impact the sponsorship would have on your sponsor's financial circumstances and whether such a sponsorship is viable and credible. I am not satisfied that evidence submitted confirms the ability of your sponsor to finance you as stated"
Plz gurus in the house helppp! Cos i submitted my sponsors bank statement which is around 21M, my bank statement of 1.3M and other supporting documents.
Am confuse right now cos I have no idea what they meant.
PS: in the case of the large deposit of the 1.323.454 they are talking about, that was the balance in my account at the end of October last year. I actually notice it on my account statement after I submitted my visa application that on the 1st week of November d whole money was debited from my account n later deposited back in few minute later, of which I have no idea of. I Actually thought the bank did that. And I'm refuse cos of that which is frustrating n I don't know what to do. And I will really like to reapply again soon
Plz help. 1.List those documents you submitted. 2. Do you work or own a business? |

sevenayo: Hello there,
I need advice on visa procedures.
I am a Spanish citizen (born and raised) living and working in London, UK.
I met my husband here but due to Visa issues Home Office sent him back home. At that time we were not married but we were living together for a long time and he had an EEA application which was refused as my lawyers were incompetent
We got married in Nigeria and he's going to apply for a Spanish visa but we are very lost about which documents he will need to provide.
I'm not registered in the Spanish Embassy in London so is still showing that I'm a Spanish resident.
Thanks for any piece of advice and help These links will help http://es.vfsglobal.co.uk/london/eea_documentsrequired.htmlhttp://es.vfsglobal.co.uk/Manchester/eea-eu_spousea.html |

urchman101: That means you didn't go through the posts and comments properly before taking your action. The guy I quoted asked for my contact since I was applying for the same course he has interest in so that we can discuss privately. So how do you see that as an issue and feel that the best solution is to remove my reply/comment? Kindly restore my comment, because I need someone in Nigeria who is going through the same application like myself for reasons best known to me. I can't really discuss everything openly at least for the sake of even typing long comments please. If you want to take your discussion private then follow the person and contact them using nairaland email system. |

AbdulKola: MONEY IS NOT REALLY THE PROBLEM, HE IS IN THE UNIVERSITY AND HAS HIS OWN APARTMENT. HE HAS A JOB NOW BUT I WILL ASK ABOUT HIS GROSS PAY. BUT WE ARE NOT LEGALLY MARRIED YET BUT HOPE TO SOON. SO FROM YOUR EXPLANATION NOW, SHE HAS WORK AND EARNS SALARY, ALSO NOT PUTING UP WITH HIS DAD. SO THE ONLY PROBLEM NOW IS THAT WE ARE NOT MARRIED YET? That is not the only prob, for settlement/spouse visa he needs to be earning at least £18600 a year and own a place suitable for couple before even considering bringing you to the UK. |

AbdulKola: MY BF HAS INDEFINITE LEAVE TO REMAIN IN UK Your bf will not be able to get you settlement visa because he is still putting up with his daddy, no work, no salary and not married to you yet. So he needs to first, get a job that pays at least £18600 year first, get his own place, get married to you then apply for spouse visa for you. He can't even invite you now because he can't afford it only if you have a good job in Nigeria to sponsor yourself. |

I overstayed in the UK for almost 10 years and decided enough was enough...it was indeed the best decision I ever made. I also want to appreciate @justwise for managing and coordinating this forum. Well that's me done and I am going back to meet my madam after almost 3 months apart. I will still be a part of this forum to provide assistance to anyone going through something similar to what I went through. For those who are still waiting, anticipating I say" Never give up".
