Rachii: No you don't have to leave the money. They bank only confirms to them your bal as at the date your statement was printed. They bank doesn't have the right to give them the balance as at when the came to confirm.
Everything you said there is misleading.

spikesC: Also, you're at the mercy of the parents behaviour regarding how they treat people. Your movement is literally controlled by them, you can't have friends and get the freedom as you want etc. Infact, imagine still being under your parents who's naturally a control freak. Just like you said, you hardly get student experience.
Spot on!!!

Footlocker: Good! Now that's what you should have said In the first place! However correct does not apply to every household! Family house those not mean it's occupied by family members at this current time! As learned people it's best not to jump to conclusions without facts!

Oh please stop it, when you said
Footlocker: 1 room available in a 5bedroom family house! Location : London, East dulwich
the impression one get is that the house is occupied by the family renting one empty room out hence my comment.

ken1982: oya na...this is serious o...lol
Nothing is serious, people will not learn, the same people speaking in tongues here will tell you that you are being too harsh with visa agents here. They read all the warnings here and still contact people in private and pay for visa.

When Oga issue was going on i was surprised to see some people jumping out from every corner to claim how they exchanged juicy text messages, wanted to sleep with them bla bla bla. These hypocrites went behind to contact him, arranging for visa and stuff, why did they not ask those questions openly here? I don't feel sorry for anybody who got defrauded by any individual here because they will only learn from bitter experiences.

Footlocker: . If your going to cast aspersions on something, you should provide a reason. At least for those who may be wondering why!
Sharing 5bedroom flat with a family as a student is like renting a corner in B&B or being a lodger, you hardly get student experience or have much say about what goes on in the house, it get even worst if the family got kids, kitchen, toilet and bathroom will be in a mess. Privacy is not always there and there is not much you can do about it.

TokyoBulls: I'm using the person and I've spoken to her a couple of times. I have several people I know in Nigeria who have used her services and did't complain. BTW. Do I know the hospital I paid 3,100 USD to? Do I know Dr. Zimmerman Andrews I paid 1,600 USD to? She's not asking for an upfront and she was recommended to me. Please calm down. Have you met the doctor you paid to?

shegsteperz: Hi ,
Do one need to wait for a TEXT MESSAGE if you received an EMAIL saying Your Visa has now been processed and is ready for collection. We aim to return passports to the Visa application center where you lodge your application within 2 workings days.
However, when tracked online is says Your Visa application has been forwarded to the British high commission

Do this mean you can go pick up your passport OR do you need to wait for another TEXT/EMAIL confirming that your passport has arrived where you lodged your application center ?

A response to this would be appreciated.

Thanks
That what you should do, you may never get the text while your package will be there waiting to be picked up.

akmoses: @justwise, pls i made photocopy of bank statement and cas. i jus read am not suppose to have done that. whr do i stand?
I really don't know why you should do that, you can always print another CAS or get another bank statement, so making photocopy of them is really strange to me.

Freshface: So I got dis from lagos us embassy:

Thank you for your email.

There is legal requirement to inform us that you are seeking to give birth in the United States or that your purpose of travel has changed. The Customs and Border Protection, a branch of USCIS, determines a traveler’s eligibility of entry to the U.S, you should be prepared to demonstrate to the immigration officer at the port of entry why you are seeking medical treatment and that you have logistical and financial plans for the treatment.

We recommend that you review the regulations on non-immigrant aliens entering the United States for purposes of childbirth at https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/882/~/visit-the-u.s.-while-pregnant-and-the-risks-involved and plan accordingly.  Please you should not stay in the U.S. longer than you are permitted by Customs and Border Protection at the port of entry. The Department of Homeland Security at the port of entry will determine your eligibility to enter the United States on any travel.

If you choose to give birth in the U.S., we advise you to bring evidence of payment, both when you enter the U.S. on this visit, and at your future U.S. visa interviews.

Sincerely,

Correspondence Unit (MAM)
US CONSULATE GENERAL
LAGOS, NIGERIA

This email is UNCLASSIFIED.

What does this imply abeg? Yet to hear from Abuja though.
The section in bold says it all, get all your documents ready for the trip.

Imeobong: @ Justwise, the reservation is still valid. Thanks.

@ Vicjustice General Visitor Visa
Do you have that reconfirmed by the hotel? If yes then reapply and attach the email to your application, use the black space to voice your disappointment with the previous refusal.

Imeobong: Hello house, Please I need advice, we (Myself & Family) applied for a UK Visa, (already we have a 2 years US visa). My bank account balance is in 8 figures and my monthly earning is in 7 figures and we were denied because according to them they could not confirm our hotel reservations in UK. But this is not true as the reservations we made through booking.com is still valid.
Now a lawyer advise that I should not allow my money (N285,000) go down the drain, that we should appeal. Her fee is N50,000. Please what should I do? Should I appeal or reapplied? Thanks.
That person is not a real lawyer, probably visa agent, you are not entitled to an appeal.

First you need to confirm from the hotel that your reservation is still valid because many hotels do cancel reservations even without informing you, so do that and use the evidence to reapply.

peteafrik88: Most retailers dont give cashbacks to credit/debit cards with bank accounts not domiciled in UK. The self serve machines are also programmed not nowadays.
It used to work when I arrived UK but most major retailers that support cashback (Sainsburys, Tesco, Co-op & ASDA) suddenly stopped it. It seems they might have discovered the difficulty of obtaining such funds from foreign banks & this might be a easy way of preventing bank card frauds that most tourists face when they travel to other countries with there bank cards...
My advice is bring some cash along, try & see if any method works for you but you will be prepared in the case of disappointment.
That makes sense because it could to be used as a way of spending from stolen credit card especially when its a foreign issued card.

paradisewoods: Good morning all, pls if I open a pounds dorm account , will I still be encountering incessant charges when I am withdrawing from atm machine in UK? Thanks for ur response
You can go around withdraw charge by using cash back system in shops, basically when you buy something in a shop and pay with your card you ask them for a cash back, though i don't know the limit, alternately you bring 3-4 thousand in cash with you and pay it into your UK bank account then transfer the rest 3K + and pay one off charge.
Nairaland General › Re: Why Are Modrators Deleting Threads For No Justifiable Reason? by justwise(m): 8:56am On Aug 19, 2014
belloahmad: hi seun and esteemed nairaland mods, i wanted to start by commending your collective hard work in moving NL forward because you are really doing a great job, but unfortunately the thread was not created for that. i really want to complain about how threads are being deleted for no due reason. this evening about 2 of my threads were deleted in the JOKES ETC section and i checked my email to see if their is any reason provided for deleting the threads but i found non. i believe the threads did not break any of the rules of nairaland neither were they posted in wrong section, even if i had posted them in a wrong section the best thing a mod should do is to move it to the appropriate section rather than just deleting in with no reason provided.

i understand it is not easy to send reasons to all those that their threads are deleted but a check box can automate it. the check boxes should list reasons why threads are being deleted and a mod should click the appropriate one before clicking delete or hide so that a user can have an idea why his thread was deleted and adjust in his future post

i am not after if the threads will be restored or not but i was just making a suggestion. we are in a modern age so some mods should stop making NL look like a forum that have not been upgraded for a century.

lastly, seun and all mods as you strive to make NL a better place for everyone we wish you success and we pledge our loyalty in abiding by rules and regulations that will make NL a better home for everyone..... one love
I don't moderate joke section but i can understand why your threads were removed, i will do the same if i were the mod.

You started 3 threads in that section and in every single one of them you inserted link to your importation business as a source of the joke but that is misleading, basically you are indirectly spamming the section with your importation business links. You did the same in Literature section , so its not funny and its not a joke grin

My wife has been a frequent visitor to the uk and actually just renewed her visa for a two year period however we ar considering her going to study in uk. My question is would she need to apply for a students visa or can she use her tourist visa? Secondly our 5 year old son had a two year visa which expired in April but wasn't used at all. Is there any implication as we want to renew it? Thanks
How long will the course last?

i expect you to be wise but reading through your argument here am some how disappointed .its a very big problem WHEN U DONT KNOW AND DONT KNOW THAT YOU DONT KNOW.can't u get what this guys are saying ? you rather want to prove noting. they have given instances and u have not even shown us one.It might not be a crime but they all said The Officers FROWN AT IT simple pls always be ready yo learn u don't know every thing.am expecting your insult!!
You are not making any sense so stop getting worked out, if you are issued a visa for a trip and you did not make it for whatever reason you don't have to contact the embassy about that, when you are applying again at the same embassy simple state that you were issued a visa before but for some unforeseen circumstances that you were unable to use it. You will not refused a visa simply because you did not use the previous one.
