Pataki: On this occasion!!!! grin

Are you related to Patience Jonathan?! How did you manage to become a moderator when you cannot simply obey Rule 21 as stated within the Nairaland Rules? More saddening to note that you are a moderator.

What a shame I repeat!
This is somebody correcting my English? As an English language professor you should know better.

Pataki: Yet your own working brain cells fails to let you write in proper English, even as a moderator?!

What a shame!
Your eye sight did not fail you in this occasion

Pataki: You are very silly. That thread had been up for over five hours here. I suddenly posted in it, and immediately you came hiding my post and locking the thread. Overzealous goat.

The OP asked a simple friendly question in dutch, which dutch people would usually ask. I gave him my answer, but in your superior wisdom of languages, you know it all to deem my response as rude.

No point further addressing you. I have my sleep to catch.
I don't sleep in travel section, i do what i have to do when i logged on, whether the thread has been up for ages or not that is immaterial, if you got any working brain cell then you would have known that its ant-social to start posting entirely in foreign language in a forum like this. If you really need me to tell you that then you are worst than goat.

Pataki: Oh wow! The OP asked a simple question in Dutch, directed at people who speak and understand the language. I replied his question and you deem that as RUDE? In a thread he explicitly stated was for people living in the Netherlands!

You sound very condescending and highly arrogant in your response. My reply was to the OP, was not for everyone.

Je bent erg vervelend! Godverdomme! What madness!

So a thread for Londoners also implies it is a thread for the UK right? No wonder this section is like a graveyard.

His question was not entirely in Dutch, a good chunk of his post was written in English language with just one line of Dutch then you turned up to demonstrate how narrow minded you are, get yourself reading glasses because you need one

Travel section is not Romance, politics or joke sections. people come here for specific need, it get far more traffic than other sections.

Pataki: Justwise, can you kindly unhide my post? angry Why hide my post in this thread?

https://www.nairaland.com/1364145/nigerians-living-netherlands-holland-how

What rule have I broken for you to hide my post which I wrote in Dutch?

And also you have no reason to lock that thread, as the thread/link you posted was directed at people living in Amsterdam. The Netherlands is not all just about Amsterdam.

So kindly unlock that thread.
Posting in Dutch is just rude in a forum like this, not everybody here understand Dutch, posting one or two lines in Dutch then interpret or post the remaining in English is more appropriate.

Amsterdam is in Netherlands, any issue regarding Netherlands can be discussed under the same thread, we can't have one thread for people living in Amsterdam and another for people living in Netherlands.

Travel › Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by justwise(mod): 5:32pm On Jul 17, 2013
Nero Indigo: Peace be upon all members of this thread.

Firstly, I would like to say praise be to the almighty Allah. Last year, I applied for my settlement visa on July 7th - After being separated from my wife and child for two years. I missed the birth of my son in 2011 because I was denied a visiting visa while I was studying abroad. The reasons seemed ridiculous but I knew back then that this (applying for settlement) was the only way for me to visit them without a hassle. My wife had been visiting me from the UK for the past 2 years and only got her job early last year.

After I had finished over there, I came back and applied for settlement last year July, unbeknownst to me that there would be an immmigration rule change 2 days later (God was watching me lol). I submitted all the relevant documents and three months later, I was denied based on two things.

- That my wife's income per year was too low and it looked like we would recourse to public funds

- That my university was not under the english approved universities, or something like that, and since they could not see any IELTS result, there was no proof I could speak english.

Actually, I wasn't too sure if my University was approved so when I submitted I told them I was in the process of taking the test just in case the certificate wouldn't be enough. As for my wife's income, the company she worked for made a mistake and had been under paying her for the past few months prior to my application. Back payments were made and I had all her payslips dating back to before I made my application along with corrections and a letter from the division head explaining the error on the company's part. It seemed the only problem here would be the english test, and since I had submitted my passport; I couldn't go for the test I had paid for. I realized this a little too late but had however submitted a copy of my IELTS receipt along with my application as proof I was preparing to take the test. So around September 21st 2012 , I received my notice of refusal (which I expected) and seeing the reasons I was denied proved to me that I could beat this with an appeal. Immediately I received my passport, I registered for the closest date for an IELTS test (another 30,000N gone LOL) and chose an Academic module so as to push whatever luck I could get. I waited for my result and unfortunately the date I was to receive it fell on the Islamic holidays on the 25th and 26th I think and my date of receipt was pushed over the allowed 21 days for an appeal.

In my notice of refusal, HOWEVER, it did not state if they were calendar or working days. It was only on the UKBA website that it said so, so I put in a letter requesting for a late appeal based on that (I was basically saying I thought they were working days and not calendar days and found my error after the deadline) and told them I was expecting my result calculating the days as working days and hoped that it would speed up my appeal if I didn't have to wait and send my result later. I passed my IELTS academic module test impressively and sent a copy with supporting documents to my wife to file the appeal within the working days time frame.

Note this: I DID NOT SEND MY APPEAL TO THE LAGOS DEPUTY HIGH COMMISSION - I simply scanned and sent it to my wife in the UK who then faxed it to the UK appeal court. They then replied my wife around late february and asked her to send proof of the Islamic holidays delay in Nigeria lol I then scanned the IELTS receipt showing the day they had paid a courier to send my test and then showed them an airway tracking bill and a corresponding webpage showing the late date it was sent to and received by me. Two to three weeks later, they approved my late appeal and forwarded it to BDHC Lagos to see if it can be overturned - They said BDHC had from late March till early August to decide. I and my wife did a happy dance on that hurdle, but the next hurdle I prayed a lot for success.

My appeal was sent in the last week of March and reached BDHC Lagos in the first week of April. Then praise be to the almighty Allah, I was called on the 4th of June to submit my passport, which was due to expire on the first week of September. I was told to submit it along with my original IELTS result. Immediately I told my wife, she broke down in tears at work, and it was so emotional for her that her colleagues came to cheer her up and celebrate at the same time. My wife advised me to renew my passport before submitting because I would suffer horribly if I try to do it from the UK. So I went ahead and submitted a letter to the immigration comptroller so as to hasten the process of getting a new passport based on my appeal situation. I had to pay double the amount for some reason I do not understand lol but got my new passport at the end of the week. I then went to submit the following Monday morning which was the 10th of June and was told that I would be contacted. I wasn't even really excited, because I just kept thinking of worse case scenarios - These High Commissions have never given me confidence even when it seemed like it was all good and I have my old passport to prove this with all the stamps of denials I had received over the years lol.

But what kept me going you may ask!? It was this thread! Justwise, Lamosy, Johnwray, Mirabeelz, etc I read this forum every single day since I submitted my late appeal. I got so much information that, even though it wasn't used, it made me believe I was going to get through this. I honestly danced when Lamosy received her visa, but I felt I couldn't even jump in to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart until the time was right. That time is now! After 6 weeks of waiting, I just received my settlement visa to enter the UK and join my family. I couldn't even celebrate because the torture of waiting had drained me of all excitement (I still waited for like 3 hours to receive the visa lol) but the patience was worth it. I haven't told anyone in my family yet, I'm on my way home as I type this. I'm thinking of how to prank them and then tell them lol.

Thank you all! Lamosy you are a gift from God and you will forever be blessed. Justwise bros! I believe in you bro! You take the time like this to help people even if it doesn't even really have anything to do with you and that is special! You're the man most men want to be but will never admit it to themselves. I appreciate! I want to thank everyone in this thread! Don't let this thread die!!! Keep doing what you're doing, I believe Allah will bless you in ways you can't imagine. Have a blessed day all! May God protect us all! Thank you!

I would like to shed a little light on the IELTS thing before I go. Obviously, I did the test after the decision but they didn't see it as a problem. Whether it's because I didn't really have anything else for them to pick on, I don't know, but I can tell you that if it boils down to it and you pass that test brilliantly - they won't refuse your appeal based on that. I don't know if it's changed since the immigration change but at least my testimony should be a bright spot on that. Thanks guys! One love!
Wow!!!, honestly i'm really happy for you, i can imagine what you have gone through, thank you for coming here to share this good news, this will really encourage a lot of people here. Now relax and enjoy your time with your family grin grin

I ve a question; I had a double sealed envelope containing my confirmation of letter from WAEC addressed to UKBA but the lady at the counter insisted that she has to open it to reveal the content(guess for security reason) before I can submit it. She opened it & I submitted it like that, my worry is does it make d confirmation letter Void/invalid since it has been opened before it gets to the ECO?
No.

Applying second week of August will depend on when your course is starting, if its early Sept then apply for an extension from your school.

wolske: Justwise, please just another question. i noticed that many applicants usually put a lot of documents in their application. My understanding of the rules is that you are to include only documents mentioned in your CAS? Is this correct? My CAS mentions only my undergraduate transcript. Do i need to include other documents like WAEC certificate, NYSC certificate, e.t.c. I have seen some people on this thread saying they included this in their applications. My question is that, is this really necessary? Is it not better to just stick to what the CAS says? Thanks Justwise
wolske: Hi Justwise. Please is it okay if one has had the money in one's account for more than 28 days? I have had the money in my account for the past 40 days. I intend printing the statement out tomorrow. Is it okay? Also, is GTBank one of the banks recognised by the UKBA? Thanks.
As long as the money hasn't stayed a month after the 28days then you got nothing to worry about.

Yes you include only those documents mentioned in CAS.
