Visman: Recently i have read from various sources on the internet that the US DIVERSITY PROGRAM also known as GREEN CARD VISA LOTTERY has been cancelled by the US government as a result of pressures from the congress insisting that the program does not seem to bring the best skilled personnel needed to grow the US economy. If this is true, what is now the fate of millions of young nigerians whose best chance of making it abroad is through the LOTTERY?.

Travel › Re: Please I Need Your Advice On How To Verify Visa If Is Fake Or Not by justwise(mod):
Well, for south Korean visa, you don't have to appear for visa. Someone can apply for your visa.

Anyway, I can help you verify the visa. I will compare with the ones I have in my passport, or give you the contact of my friend at Lagos consulate near banana island.

Note:
1. South Korea visa doesn't hv applicants photo on it.
2. Visa number starts with NJ for Abuja, LG for Lagos
3. It's written Republic of Korea, and not South Korea at the top.
4. Check the remark section to see the name of your Korean sponsor.
5. The visa is stenciled "KOR" all over it so that it's not easy to peel from the passport page.

Caution:
Having a Korean visa doesn't guarantee entry. On arrival at Inchon, you have to go through interrogation. They will call your sponsor. He has to be your guarantor. They will search your bags for drugs and clothing label-If you have lived in Korea illegally and gone home to do "U" turn with a new passport, you might have somethings to show , clothes, coins, name cards etc. sometimes they will ask you question in Korean, just to see your reaction. Finally, your funds. How much you have on you will determine if they'll let you into town or call your airline to take you home
How will you do that? Will the op send you a copy of the visa or the passport itself?

I'm sure you will get your passport before the end of this month, you still have the whole of August to travel if given a visa.

It does not normally take that long though you applied very early

You need to call them, though you still have time as your course starts Sept. They will not be in a hurry to process your visa

princessmoi: @justwise,

He said his mom is requesting for a print out from the back plus a letter and the later withdraw or transfer that money to the school for payment. Is it possible to use that print out of statement from the bank while applying for his visa? Can he print out his own account details?

greyhat: Hello Expats,

I need your thoughts on this; I want to apply for UK visiting visa to attend my wife's graduation. I work remotely from Nigeria as a free-lance contractor for a UK company and am paid in pounds into my UK bank account.

My questions are;
How do I go about showing home ties as I intend to travel with my Missus.

Am I able to show my UK bank account (which is buoyant enough) as proof of funds for the visit period (5 days).
Should i ask my UK employer to send me a letter of leave/absence (would this suffice as a proof) for the period.
What are my chances or what is the best possible route?

P.S I used to live and work in the UK but now in naija.
The question of home tie has been answered far too many times here, please take your time and read previous replies.

Without your bank statement you can't proof that you can sponsor the trip, so you have to submit bank statement

As a free-lance contractor you don't need leave-letter as you can work from anywhere.

No other chance other than visiting visa route.

princessmoi: Hi Justwise,

A friend of mine got admission into a school in UK the school is requesting for full payment of fees. Meanwhile, his brother has agreed to assist him with accommodation.

If full fees are paid by his mother, how much does he need for a bank statement, what documents should he use for applying visa and what documents is his brother suppose to send?

Please help as school opens in September.

hbabe: @Justwise
He can type N/A; it is allowed and it is what is usually done. I am talking from experience; putting a wrong passport number may cause problems in future.

As long as he calls the ECO's attention to that particular incident then he will be fine in future application.

Maybe he can try N/A as you said but if a field is marked * and needed a number to be entered, if you put N/A it will reject it.

hbabe: For the child without passport just put N/A
Avoid putting in the wrong/fake passport number as it may cause problems if you intend to get the child a UK visa in future.
I doubt that option is available in online application, if the section is marked '*' then N/A will not be an option. He can repeat the previous passport number in that field so as to be allowed to proceed then in hardcopy application he will make a note of that issue to the ECO.

@FrontPageLawyer, can you check very well if you had indicated somewhere in the form that you will be traveling with your kids?

ujchief: Thanks. This is exactly what I've been doing. I virtually slept on this thread. I've gotten enlightened on the process. The advice of using 150k to get a 2months visa was wonderful. But let's also consider the fact that after getting the work, you will need to pay for flight ticket to return to naija to process your 2yrs visa and then pay to go back again. My cousin also read thru the inputs and was the one that raised this question. He was like it will most certainly amount to spending close to same thing if he goes that way. We've really found this thread helpful and educating, but do check the points he listed.
I read somewhere in page 4 where someone talked about this particular 2 yrs deal my cousin got and pegged the cost at about 400k - 550k; that's almost the same amount my cousin was asked to pay.

This is just what I wanted to find out on behalf of my cousin. This is what we, the entire family members are deliberating on. We have assumed that the deal is true and real, so what we wanted to find out is if its wise to use 3k dollars to go and get a job of 90k naira monthly, with accommodation and transportation.

Btw, I choose to ignore your justwise. They say first impression matters, I'd rather remain ignorant than seek advise from an arrogant fellow who believes I should know everything by default and posits that I and my cousin needs to see a doctor if we can't decode that we're being ripped off. Worse still, he is a mod of this section and I find it hard to see the intent of his malicious behavior.

Yes that is even why i bothered to respond and also to make sure that people don't spread some silly ideas here.

Even after going through contributions from other people you are still struggling to get it.

How much is return ticket to Dubai with visa? Up to $1000? It still baffles me how people get taken in by this ready-made job thing. There is a huge difference between being educated and common sense.

You called my post malicious, i called it straight-talking.

justwise: The application process is done online and offline, you submit online and offline. When you submit online you will be given a date when you will visit their centre to submit the hardcopy of the online application with other documents.

If you want to buy one piece of music equipment and lighting then fan but buying things in large quantity will arise suspicion, you don't need to add that in your application form
Saintp: Hello guys,

I just go an invitation from a company in UK for a 2 weeks course starting 5th August. I was told to apply online for visa. I want to know how it works before applying. Do i need to attach any document on the online application? Or is it just about filling a form?

How long does it take to get a Uk visa in reality? Please what should i do? Cost will be sponsored by my company.

I am not being difficult, cos I am asking in the interst of fairness, what you fail to understand is I want to catch every1s attention by posting a new thread that's the whole essense a new thread is at the top of the homepage so every1 who comes on the travel homepage can see an respond, by putting it in another thread then it cnt get the attention of every1 cos unless that thread is opened then it wnt be read.
Its not like I am opening plenty threads, I come here post my 1st thread in months and it gets closed, am sorry that's unfair and I reiterate if there's two wakanow threads surely my thread deserves to be open.

All I am asking for is to be treated fairly and equal as the othe two wakanow thread posters whom unlike me didn't have their threads closed.

Thank you
You are talking about something you got little idea about. Your thread will get pushed down within minutes as its not one of the sticky threads, sticky threads gets more traffic than individual threads because they are always in front and people see them each time they visit travel section.

I linked your post to a sticky thread where you will get reply and each post in a sticky thread will bring that thread to the top.

We can not allow people to start new thread when there is similar thread with a lot of traffic already.

Each time i see a duplicate i also cross-linked them and i did the same with the wakanow thread you keep referring to.

joxiri: Like I have said my topic was specific and required specific answer hence why I created it and u closed it, might I add this is the 2nd time you are closing my thread, so I don't understand if this is personal, cos there are 2 wakanow threads with titles having wakanow and u didn't close them or aren't they multiple and specific to wakanow,

As far as I am aware this forum is free and fair so please don't just close my thread everyone should be treated fairly I had been posting threads on here in the past before you became a moderator and they were not closed do u know how annoying it was I came on here seeking answers and u just closed my thread like that

Please please I will kindly appreciate it if you can open the thread as I have not got the answer I was seeking nor have I been given the opportunity to even get those answers
Rule 14 stated: Please search the forum before creating a new thread on Nairaland

We have UK visa general inquiry thread but you refused to make your inquiry there rather started a new thread about the same dam thing.

We have US visitor's visa thread, again you refused to post your inquiry there and decided to start another thread about the same thing.

There is nothing specific about your post, it can easily be answered in the UK general visa inquiry, its annoy when people do this and at the same time calming to be right.

Why do we need to have 20 threads in travel section while 10 of them are duplicates of the remaining 10? That is madness.

You are just being difficult.

What is the point of creating multiple threads of the same topic? What is wrong with having one that everybody will contribute on?

steve0797: Hello, let ur cousin try his luck i don't see any scam here, moreover if u are getting a 2yrs contract job in dubai directly from Nigeria you are charged between 400k/500k for men while ladies are much cheaper, but female job are basically cleaner with a lesser salary. And again the visa the company will send to you it's going to be an employment visa, I've lots of people that are there working with this kind of arrangement.

Finally, quit quoting me if you have nothing positive to contribute to my course.
This is not just about been grounded in travel matters, You don't need two heads and horn to know that you are being taking to the cleaner.

If i'm clueless about music and drama then i wouldn't waste thousands on it until i'm convinced that i'm doing the right thing.
