toshmann: Carry ya thick accent come here na, if you are average life go tire you. I don't have an American accent. I don't even like their accent.( I prefer British accent) but I modify my Nigerian accent to communicate better.

You don't like it, keep ya thick accent, obasanjo kept his own, nobody sent him to jail.
What loads of garbage are you ranting about? Are under the influence of substance or what? You modify your Nigerian accent? You poor thing
Travel › Re: Nigerians And Fake Accent by justwise(mod): 12:56pm On Jun 30, 2013
toshmann: And you compare yourself to shaq, fela and president of Nigeria. These people are made. They don't need anything from oyibos. If you need something from them, job, business then you better try to make yourself easy to understand. These folks can't even pronounce your name.

Look at Obama, when he was a young hustler, They called him Barry. Bc they were unwilling to learn how to pronounce barrak. But when Obama became a made man, he made them Learn how to pronounce his full name.

Fela doesn't need them. They can go to hell for all he cares. They want to listen to afro juji music, they come to fela. So he doesn't need them. But you and me, fresh hustlers. We better adapt fast bc on this competitive age, unless you are exceptional in what you do (like fela) you had better blend in.

If you are average and then you come for a job with thick ojuelegba accent, and I'm average and o come for the same interview with modified Nigerian accent, you think they will take you? tongue
You have a very narrow minded mentality, this got nothing to do with whether one need job from 'oyibo' or not, its about communication whether you are speaking to 'oyibo' or a Nigerian

dasparrow: Very true. Unless one is living in Area 1 to 10 in Garki or in Wuse, access to portable water and electricity is a mirage. Most residents in Abuja have to rely on 'mai ruwa' (water sellers) or bore hole or well water. They are not connected to Abuja water board. Abuja is terribly expensive too. There is nothing special about Abuja and I can't wait to leave Abuja and indeed Nigeria.
I agreed with you that Abuja is very expense but disagreed with you that there is nothing special about Abuja, Abuja is a great city with anything you want as long as you can afford it

wolske: @Justwise. Please what is the general success rate of joint visa applications for an offer holder and his dependants. I noticed we don't really have too many comments on such issues on this thread. Thanks .
The success is not bad but you have to convince the ECO that you have prepared financially for your dependants, you need to get family-oriented accommodation, read dependant section of this PDF file for what is expected.

A quick question, wanted to find out, with regards to the stuffing of the maintenance funds in the account.i want to know whether the 28 days consist of weekends and lastly incase,i am applying for my tier 4 visa ,how long will it take to get my visa from the Embassy.

Thank you
Yes the 28days includes weekends and visa normally comes out within 15-20 working days but applying late can extend that period, so the earlier the better

Chiichii2010: Please am a nurse here in naija, but i would like 2 travel to uk or dublin 2 do a 1yr top up degree course in nursing.my question is which of this country uk/dublin would be best in terms of working and studying.2 staying after schooling 3 easier 2 get a work permit after school and lastly one dat wil be easy 4 someone with little money.thank u all as u give ur advice no matter how little.i would also be happy if fellow nurses both in uk/dublin chip in something
i'm not sure about Dublin as i haven't lived or studied there but forget about the UK if you haven't got the money to pay fees, rent and bills for the first 6months at least, getting a work permit after graduation will solely depend on your ability to get a graduate job within the 4months left on your visa.

loomjet: Pls all forum mates, when writting my appeal grounds how do i address it. really dont know because have neva been thru dis b4. should i start by using Dear sir/ma or should i just go straight to the points> pls advice
When writing an appeal letter you have the freedom to use any format as long as you pick each refusal point and address it in detail using paragraph to separate your points, yes its ok to use dear sir/madam but the most important thing is that you address all those points raised by ECO in refusal letter and attach paper evidence to support your argument.

Believe me you don't need a lawyer for this, just pour your heart out and do the some on hearing day.

yemstar1: @justwise, I want to apply for a tier4 student visa and need to know if I can apply in Aug when my international passport will be expiring in Dec, 2013. I will also like to know the procedure to change name on international passport for a man, this the reason why i have not renewed my passport because I changed my last name with affidavit and newspaper publication as legal documents. I have heard different contradictory things and I really need to know the procedure as time is of the essence to me.
Renew your passport before applying for visa because you don't have upto 6months validity in that passport to meet the requirement

I don't know any other way of going about change of name apart from what you stated there.

It really help everybody when discussion about visa and admission issues are kept opened, questions and answers helps this forum grow, when people start dropping contact details for some private chat it becomes a bit selfish.

wolske: @Justwise, please i have a question. I deposited some money in my account to cover my wife and baby's maintenance (i am on scholarship which pays my own tuition and maintenance). As you know this money is expected to stay in the account for 28 days. The 28 days will end next week. Suddenly i received an alert from my bank indicating that the bank credited my account with some interest on the money in my account. Now i'm a little worried because my understanding of the UK Visa rules is that no form of transaction is to take place on one's account during the 28 days period. is this truly the case?

That is not true, you can have more in your account but not less, as long as the transaction did not reduce the required amount then you will be fine.

Am not saying agent is good, but people patronize agent cos of sponsorship. What I mean by sponsorship is this: some people don't av a family member or family friends that have huge amount of money in there account, which is the most important thing in student visa application. U guys can correct me if am wrong, we are aii here to learn.

How will the money from the agent help an applicant? Pay school fees and rent in US or what?
Travel › Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part2 by justwise(mod): 8:42pm On Jun 28, 2013
NaijaIhail: So, applicants who pay for school fees alone WITHOUT paying for accommodation will still be granted the visa provided he/she has £9000 or £7200 in his account?
That is the case
