GOMBE, Nigeria (AP) — A pastor says gunmen have attacked a church in northeast Nigeria, killing at least three people and wounding others.
Johnson Jauro of the Deeper Life Church in Gombe, the capital of Gombe state, said the attack happened around 7 p.m. Thursday. Jauro said he heard gunfire everywhere and lost his wife in the assault on the church.

Police confirmed the attack happened in Gombe, but declined to offer any details.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

The assault came as northeast Nigeria has been facing attacks from a radical Muslim sect known as Boko Haram. It wants strict Shariah law to be implemented across Nigeria, a multiethnic nation of more than 160 million people.

For those of you foolishly and ignorantly protesting d removal of fuel subsidy, billions of naira have been said to have exchanged hands in d past few days for d prosecution of d protests.NLC got a chunk of dat money and they are ready to go all out to fight d subsidy removal.but sadly enough, instead of us telling this evil cabal (less than 200 Nigerians) to their faces that enough is enough,we are giving in to their deciet, lies and misinformation.too bad!!finally,NLC should hand down directives to its unproductive, dormant and highly corrupt members only.telling Nigerians to stock foods as they (NLC) 'will be shuting down d country' from Monday next week is not only laughable but silly.NLC can stay at home as long as they want, afterall most of them are ghost workers and unproductive, but they shud try NOT to interrupt other people's businesses especially d non-salary earners.

Look, somehow I think you need your head examined! This is not subsidy, this is ST. UPIDITY! How many villages will 1600 buses serve? London alone has over 6,800 Buses with a Population of 6m!

Subsidizing Fares on FG Buses,  oh dear,  will the buses operate in the villages? Where are the roads the buses will operate on?,  With the bad roads, in 9month's time, we will be talking about the importation of another 1600 buses or more,  another SCAM !!

mr mumu teir or omo teir, Ʊ need to have ur brain examined so because I don't accept ur veiw warrants me to have my brain checked, When fuel was N65 how much did Ʊ think they sold it in those villages ur making a case for?, have Ʊ ever asked urself why our subsidized kerosene DPK are neva available for those village people ur making a case for? According to my guy Labran, by february, there would have been enough to cushion d effect on d transport sector. More palliatives still coming. Pls don't be insultive when commenting here. Lets be matured while proving our points

20% of 1600 is how many? A paltry number of 320! You mean FG will be importing a whooping 1280busses from another country and you call that 'Pallative' measures?

Look as for the salary, We KNOW the Federal Government does not have the CAPACITY to pay salaries middle of the month! Why, most Salaries are now done through BACs, and these are fixed systems that require substantial paper work and electronic software adjustment, hence the reason when an employee salary is adjusted wrongly, they usually get the employee paid either in cash or in subsequent BACs transfer!

So dude,  not all Nigerians can be fooled!

Let me also tell you this,  these buses to be brought in, however the number, will not run on water,  okay. They will run on diesel, which will be bought at prevailing market rates of N145, how then will the FG get the buses to charge less per person on any given mileage of transportation? Wouldnt that be a delibrate distortion of local prices?, Or are you going to tell me that these buses will carry Nigeria for free?, Who pays then?,  the FG?,  ha ha,  more SCAM on the way!
Boy, Nigerians are more wiser than your puppet government seems to think!

They have said that they want the poor to enjoy the subsidy instead of petroleum marketers. They have said that the fare would be subsidized instead of my country subsidizing fuel for chad, niger, benin and cameroun, Ʊ people should also prepare for another occupy nigeria cos no more fertilizer subsidy too

Indeed - and a total m.o.r.on to boot . Why don't we advise western nations to surgically seal the noses of their citizens to prevent them snorting cocaine? Surely, that is a much better solution than maintaining the dignity of their citizens via tackling the dealers and importers of the drug !!!!!

By the same logic why not back blanket subsidy removal under the same President who will not tackle the corrupt element of subsidy ? Did the same President not appoint an IG much less qualified than many who had to be retired to accomodate his promotion?

Go through MMIA today and it is extortion and corruption from when you go in till when you board the plane. Passport offices in Nigeria, totally the same. Police nko? Our bribery zones Borders nko ? Yet this same GEJ has been substantive President approaching 2 years now !!!

Seriously, this question does beg for serious answer folks. We all know our refinaries are not all dead. At least they still refine some volumes of PMS. We also do know that the cost of refining locally is way way cheaper than the imported PMS, just as foriegn rice is way more expensive than Abakiliki rice in Nigeria.

Then arise the question: Will NNPC mega station be selling fuel at far more cheaper rate of say N70 since the PMS refined in Nigeria are not subidized? If yes, what will become of the oil marketers who the FG have said can go overseas and import and sell to the public. If the NNPC follow the PPPRA directive to sell @ N141 locally refined PMS, is that not an economic sabotage, selling almost 10 times the actual cost of production?

Fellow forumites, what is your take, any answers to the question above?
