Seun: Dear Nairalanders,
We are thinking of completely banning the promotion of forex trading and sports betting on Nairaland.
Forex day-trading and sports betting are fundamentally fraudulent because they're promoted as a quick way of making money whereas due to mathematical facts, the only people who make money are the middlemen and marketers. The "investors" almost always lose their money.
In our experience, it's not enough to warn Nairaland members about the dangers of forex day-trading and sports betting. The promise of quick profit is just too strong for thousands of vulnerable Nairaland members to resist. The only way to protect them is complete censorship.
We believe that the complete ban of such content will make Nairaland a better platform for discussing legitimate entrepreneurship and finance.
What do you think? Please click 'like' if you like the idea; thanks. Back to this argument again after 10 years. I remember the battle before you allowed forex trade discussion on Nairaland. Even stock trading was a big issue then, forcing some members to another forum. There is always a caveat on forex trading world over, and I think that's what it should be. It is not fraudulent in anyway. The problem is with the traders! |

Em13: The Scans are not showing anything !! In as much as many transmission issues are without code, are you sure you are using a capable scanner? Ask the mechanic to disconnect the transmission control harness (not the range connector) and drive it. Can you provide more details? When it gets hot, does it lose mobility entirely, or does it just stop selecting? Does turning the ignition off and on change anything? But I thought a 2007 Camry should be running on U760? |

Denn: If you belong to 100 space orbiting scientific associations, who e don epp?
I don't state facts without references. That's why I show screenshots.
Your associations would be disappointed in you to know you don't know the history of aisin and you don't know about the versatility of the AW4
The basic ordinary spare parts dealer in Ladipo knows that the aw4 internals go straight into the A340....that is why the AW4 is currently expensive in Nigeria...more expensive than the engine.
Yes, I learn from Google (like almost everyone here on cartalk). In addition, i learn from others who dont boast about the number of nuclear bombs they have successfully swallowed with a cup of water. Have you heard of people who learnt how to read from home? Not every great lawyer must be an Harvard graduate.
If I list parts here, how would you be certain I did not do a simple Google search?
Let's focus on the facts of the matter and don't digress into unnecessary bickering.
Thanks If not for copyright, I would have posted a document here that should have cleared all this. You need to understand that even a 1987 and 1995 AW4 are not EXACTLY the same. Number of splines on output shaft changed, overdrive ratio changed, electricals etc, changed; let alone A340. Also remember that AMC and Jeep jointly designed AW4, not AW. My point is that the internet is not a reliable source of information. Tell me any professional you know that trained on the open internet. Sure most people (including myself) learn from the internet but the question is who wrote and approved those materials? Is the writer an authority? Professional information/training is not free. It is a slight for you to be asking me if I knew what a bell housing is, so you need to be corrected. Shalom! |
Car Talk › Re: Reliability Of The Cherokee Jeep Transmission by Kashif(m): 10:53am On Apr 29, 2016 |
Denn: Pinion?
I said they share the same internals....the only difference is the bell housing.
Do you know what a bell housing is?...the cover dude.
I will post the Google search picture again on aisin. You keep running to Google. I belong to professional auto transmission bodies, and we know that Google does not help. If there is anyone who needs schooling on what a bell housing is, its you. Can you tell me just 10 internal parts of an automatic transmission without going to Google? Since you don't know what a carrier pinion is, there is not basis for our argument. I will leave you with your Google searches. |
Car Talk › Re: Reliability Of The Cherokee Jeep Transmission by Kashif(m): 10:38am On Apr 29, 2016 |
Denn: This is for your knowledge.
The A34X series share the same internals with the AW4...
Only difference is the bell housing.
Aisin transmission is different from Aisin Warner?
Another picture to add to your knowledge You overlooked the word 'similar'. AW4 and A340 are NOT the same. And yes, Aisin and Aisin Warner are NOT the same. In auto transmissions, just one pinion added to a carrier makes a lot of difference. |

tojahh: Please
I have a Toyota Camry 1996 (Orobo) Auto-transmission V6 car, but when the gear is in 'D' and you accelerate, the gear won't change to indicate velocity per acceleration. I mean the gear can shift between "1, P, D, R, N," but when on Drive, as you rev on, you will notice the gear selector on D remains.
That usual sound it used to notice will not be heard or observed..... please am planning on traveling a 6-7 hrs Journey with the car soon. what are the pitfall. its my first car, i don't have much experience. Very confusing post. You expect the selector to move from 'D' to where? I dont understand. |

Denn: I responded to his outburst and told him that contrary to his opinion, the AW4 transmission was a sturdy and rock solid transmission which had same variants used in the Toyota Supra and Toyota 4 Runner of the 90s.
Therefore, I decided to open this thread for us to both defend our claims on the aw4 transmission designed by aisin Warner and installed in the Jeep Cherokee and many Toyotas for over 20 years. For starters, no Toyota was ever fitted with AW4. The Supra and 4Runner you mentioned ran on A340E or A340H. AW (Aisin Warner) and Aisin transmissions are not exactly the same. |

Car Talk › Ford Recalling More Than 200k Vehicles For Transmission, Suspension Problems by Kashif(op): 10:09pm On Apr 28, 2016 |
Ford is recalling nearly 202,000 pickup trucks, SUVs and cars in North America because the automatic transmissions can suddenly downshift to first gear. The company also said Wednesday that it's recalling more than 81,000 Explorer SUVs to fix a rear suspension problem. The transmission recall covers the 2011 and 2012 F-150 and the 2012 Expedition, Mustang and Lincoln Navigator. Ford says a software problem in a speed sensor can force the vehicles into a downshift. The problem has caused three crashes but no injuries. Dealers will inspect the sensors. If they find no trouble codes, they'll update software. If trouble codes are present they'll replace the part that houses the speed sensor. The Explorer recall covers SUVs and Police Interceptor models in the U.S., Canada and Mexico from 2014 and 2015. Ford says the suspension links could fracture due to poor welds. The company says in a statement that the problem has caused one crash and an injury. http://www.kswo.com/story/31828719/ford-recalls-202k-pickups-suvs-cars-to-fix-transmissions |

P.s your gear box is about 70k, you will spend a minimum of 30k now. If that solves his problem, he is much better off. The 70k does not include installation and atf. |

Em13: @GAZZUZZ i wont mind your offer to scan please let me have your number.
We even scanned the car before purchase , all that came up was the shocks. which i have done.
The gear oil was burnt when we checked ,
i had to go and look for an old trusted mechanic. He seemed to provide a ray of light when he offered a 13 pin gear which he said another customer of his had gotten when he was told he had gear issues and it turned out to be a re wiring problem. So the spare gear was offered to be sold to me at a much lesser price as the owner had given it to them to sell.
so today he is supposed to remove the gear in my car to be sure its the same exact one in the car .
All further advise is welcome.
Thanks He needs to drop the transmission to confirm compatibility? Are you sure you are not facing another 'rewire' problem? The best of luck always. |

Em13: Please I need help. I'm a lady and sick and tired of dubious people and mechanics. I recently bought a 07 camry only to notice the steering was light on the drive and stiff in reversing and doing right corners. And the car would go off if I put on the airconditioner at the initial start of the car . The car dealer said was because sensor was missing from the airconditioner unit .
He took the car and on return it seemed to be OK.
Then I was told steering pump needed to be serviced for the wheel issue. This seems to still be pending .
But to my coming here on the way home . The car started reving in a funny way till the car stopped. Summary the gear is bad.
I have not driven this car for 7 days cumulatively. He refuses to accept responsibility as according to him all was working at point of sale
I'm told its a 13 pin gear ..... I've been hearing all sorts of prices and presently on our way to ladipo.
Please what's the best way to handle this ....
Does the well issue spell an accidented car ?
Do I call police to arrest him ?
I'm tired ! From above, I am not able to come to terms the transmission is the culprit. Are there more details you wish to share? |

kingreign: all/most convertibles have roll bars either permanently up or that automatically comes up when the top is removed or when the car senses an imminent roll over. Besides, the A pillar holding the windshield is harder than standard non convertibles to further withstand crushing impacts. Also, due to lack of B pillars and fixed roof structures, convertibles have most of its weight and structural rigidity aids down to ensure a lower centre of gravity. Finally, airbags, seatbelts and the likes have made convertibles safer than imagined. You took it off my fingers. Spot on! |

friendbee: serious..........................pls i will like to teach me First, you need to trade like you don't need the money. Don't go to the trade; allow the trade come to you. Cherry-pick your trades. The market is always there, presenting countless opportunities. Don't rush. Take only low risk; high probability trades. You will only appreciate this when the losses accumulate, and you realise they would have been avoided if you sat on your fingers! You can go a month without losing ANY trade if you want. BTW, I trade only H4 TF, and I hate indicators! |
