TV spoilers are strictly prohibited please. I'm going to start banning people after this post. Or maybe I should just lock the thread?
Lock the thread at noon on Sunday and re-open at dawn on Tuesday.

That was the way we enjoyed seasons 3 and 4 till you lifted the lock-rule in season 5. Still don't know why you did that.

Locking the thread virtually eliminates spoilers (by tuesday, all true fans would have watched the current episode), creates excitement and expectation, and by the time the thread is unlocked everyone is bursting at the seams and foaming at their mouths, eager to post their views and opinions and what-nots, and as usual wail about the latest deaths. Its a win-win.

And the conversation between Jon and qhorin after ghost was attacked, didn't that happen in the series or is my mind playing tricks on me? If not, i stand corrected
Ghost doesn't feature at all in the show's version (S02E06). The hard climb up the Skirling Pass takes less than an evening, and the wildlings are ambushed by Qhorin and his whole team; afterwards the Crows move on leaving Jon behind to execute Ygritte and catch up, but he doesn't show up (Ygritte takes him on a merry chase), so Qhorin goes back to look for him... and gets captured.

In the books the hard climb takes almost two days, and the wildlings are caught pants down by Stonesnake and Jon Snow who'd gone ahead to scale the bare face of the mountain; Qhorin and the rest arrive in the early morning. Jon is left behind in same way, but he deliberately lets Ygritte go and catches up with the team in the next "Jon" chapter. He later has the wolf-dream that night when they make camp at the highest point of the Skirling Pass, high high above the Milkwater.

I think she was hallucinating. She drinks water from the pool and doesn't die, afterall. Honestly i think this is one storyline the show failed in, all the theories about it prove so.
Mayhaps you're right... although that doesn't explain the blindness.

But i think the prize of "biggest fail" in the entire series goes to the Dorne storyline. Two prizes, in fact... let's not forget worst acting.

Remember Jon's foray with qhorin halfhand in season two when he woke up worried ghost was attacked and injured and qhorin asked him why he thought so and he described ghost's adventure to mance rayder's camp thinking it was just a dream while qhorin was asking specific details about the camp and the other rangers cursed him for a warg while qhorin silenced them saying the nightswatch needed all the advantage it could get? undecided
Yes Jon doesn't really know or appreciate what he is but it takes nothing from the fact that he is a warg!
You're mixing it up, brother. smiley

yes, that's why the magic of the faceless men is foolproof and no, because a faceless man still keeps his own agenda and not the agenda of the character of the face they're wearing and one more question, is it possible for a faceless man to wear a face on a face? Because if the waif is arya and she wore a maid then walder Frey's face then that'll be wearing a face on a face so what do you think?
Cc Gbola5, kay9, Yonce, GOTolodo, armadeo wink
There is no established precedence of this happening, with one unexplained exception: iin season 5 when Arya is confronted by Jaqen H'gar after she "borrows" a face and kills Ser Meryn Trant, Jaqen drinks a poison vial, dies and Arya in distress starts pulling off multiple "faces" from his face until she sees her own face on Jaqen. There are several inconsistencies here, the most confusing of which is how did Jaqen get Arya's face while she was still alive? Or was is it all a glamour? Either, we will never know until it is explained.

hello, am new here. I noticed u guys were talking about the saddest and unexpected deaths.
For me the two deaths that touched me most were Hodor and Shireen(stannis baratheons daughter) burnt on a stake, i literally shed tears
Welcome, glad to have you.

Poor Shireen never did nothing to nobody. Her death was the rape of innocence and desecration of the trust a child has in his/her parents. Hodor's was even more heartbreaking when it was revealed that since the "epileptic attack" in his childhood, his only remaining purpose in life was to hold the door and die for Brandon Stark.

BTW whr is Ser Ilyn Payne.. ..
Yes. Apart from Ilyn Payne whom I added out of habit, the rest comprise a short-list of all the power-hungry people left in Westeros. The game is over (by forfeit) as soon as they're all dead. I deliberately left out Euron Greyjoy... his death is already in the cards, no need to pray for it.

On the show, Ilyn Payne was last seen in season 2 ("protecting" Queen Cersei and other ladies during the battle of Blackwater). Lord Tywin mentioned him in passing in season 4 though, but he was not shown. The actor himself, Wilko Johnson, sadly suffers from terminal cancer and probably may not be featuring on the show anymore.

What else do you need to know about these characters? Origin? Did you know about the origin of Hawkeye, Falcon even all the X-men members? Must DC copy Marvel template or origin before team?
Naa, they certainly don't have to. They're totally free to do their own thing. Curious though that besides Nolan's trilogy, the only other DCEU movie to garner enough critical reviews to compete with MCU's products is WW - a movie that basically followed the MCU origin template.

I think the worst death scene was viseryes targaryan and oberyn Martell
Oh no, my dear child of summer, these deaths you mention were all in the cards... Viserys committed an abomination in Vaes Dothrak, Oberyn literally talked his life away. Ramsay, Joffrey.. those two just had it coming.

Ned Stark though... Never in my life have I been so shocked watching television... when that little sh!t said "Ser Ilyn, bring me his head!" ... And the huge greatsword Ice came swinging down. Couldn't believe it until the next episode began... with Ned's blood dripping off the sword. Mmmmh.

But the most traumatizing death on GoT... Catelyn Stark... after she begged and begged for her son's life...and they slit that poor woman's throat... her life blood spurting out like a punctured drain-pipe... Lord Frey cackling, "Heh heh, heh heh..."

Smh.

Best female- Cersei!!!
Lena Headey owns, literally owns, her role and she slays at it.

Best Male- Tyrion.
His face is always so expressive.
Best male for me goes to Iwan Rheon (Ramsey Bolton). Remember the scene with the hot-dog?
(in Dolorous Edd's voice) He's dead now though; fancy being the best dead actor.
TV/MoviesRe: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by kay9(m): 11:59am On Jul 29, 2017
GOTOlodo:
I agree with you that the acting of the actors who played Tyrion, The hound and Cersie have been amazing from season 1 up until now. This is the extent to which I agree with you.

Kit Harrington's (Jon Snow) performance has improved as the story has progressed. His acting wasn't really impressive in the first 2 seasons, but it has gotten better. Last season's performance was his best, and he deserved his Emmy's nomination.

Massie William's (Arya) acting was very good in the first three seasons, when she was still little, but for me in recent episodes she isn't as powerful as an actress as she was. She isn't bad, but she isn't as good. She tends to fault a bit in her facial expressions. Or maybe it's just poor directing.

The Sand snakes are like the worst set of actors in the entire series. Their scenes are always cringy to watch. A grotesque combination of poor writing and poor acting.

Bronn and Edd's performance are just okay for their characters. Nothing spectacular.

Are you serious? Jamie and Theon are your worst actors? That's surprising because for me their acting has bee. quite Superb. My top six actors in the show are:
Charles Dance( Tywin Lannister)
Alfie Allen( Theon Greyjoy)
Iwan Rhein (Ramsey Bolton)
Lena Headey( Cersei)
Jack Gleeson ( Prince Joffrey)

Sean Bean(Ned Stark)

One of the marks of a good actor is versatility. You can clearly see this quality evident in the character transformation of Jaime and Theon. Theon especially. It's not easy for a character to go from being an arrogant douche to a likeable level headed guy the way Jamie Lannister did. It's like the directors changed the actor after the first three seasons. Watch Theon in season one and compare him with Theon in season six. You can tell how good of an actor the guy playing him is.
His facial expressions and mannerisms are Ramsey tortured and broke him are difficult to convey and maintain, but he pulls them off flawlessly.

For me the worst actors are The Sand Snakes &
Emilia Clarke(Daenerys).
First five, all on point, especially Iwan Rheon (Ramsay), best in the entire series for me.
But I'd replace your no.6 - Sean Bean (Ned) with Peter Dinklage (Tyrion). For a man who doesn't drink at all, he certainly killed his drunk scenes in season 5 and 6. Top-notch delivery of all his one-liners (second only to Iwan Rheon, IMO). I drink... and I know things. Classic!
And lets not forget Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell). Just present for season 4 alone, and yet he literally breathed that character, even down to the lazy drawl of the Dornish accent - 5/5.

Obara touched her whip. “Thousands are crossing the sands afoot to climb the Boneway, so they may help Ellaria bring my father home. The septs are packed to bursting, and the red priests have lit their temple fires. In the pillow houses women are coupling with every man who comes to them, and refusing any coin. In Sunspear, on the Broken Arm, along the Greenblood, in the mountains, out in the deep sand, everywhere, everywhere, women tear their hair and men cry out in rage. The same question is heard on every tongue—what will Doran do? What will his brother do to avenge our murdered prince?” She moved closer to the captain. “And you say, he does not wish to be disturbed!

“He does not wish to be disturbed,” Areo Hotah said again...
The build-up is so on point. smiley

D & D really did a horrible job in the GoT portrayal of Dorne.

Ygritte kissed by fire...she was portrayed like a goddess in the book but the one in the show was not to that level. I know if Val's xter is given show time, those two guys will fvck it up big time.

Couldn't stop drawing a pictur of what Val would look like reading the book, if Ygitte is elevated to high heavens.

Also the show Lyanna Stark was a let down...
No she wasn't. She was described as having crooked teeth and eyes that were too far apart. Show Ygritte was actually a huge improvement on her books counterpart.

The wildlings seemed to think Ygritte a great beauty because of her hair; red hair was rare among the free folk, and those who had it were said to be kissed by fire, which was supposed to be lucky. Lucky it might be, and red it certainly was, but Ygritte’s hair was such a tangle that Jon was tempted to ask her if she only brushed it at the changing of the seasons.

At a lord’s court the girl would never have been considered anything but common, he knew. She had a round peasant face, a pug nose, and slightly crooked teeth, and her eyes were too far apart. Jon had noticed all that the first time he’d seen her, when his dirk had been at her throat.

<Book 3: A Storm of Swords:: pg 1006/1062>

And finally this niggling little mystery is explained. Why did Petyr keep on saying that Catelyn gave him her maidenhead? I mean, everybody knows that Littlefinger is the greatest liar in the Seven Kingdoms, but something about the way he kept on telling this particular tale unadulterated to all that cared to listen - Tyrion, Jamie, the Small Council, even Sansa - I just started wondering... And to hear Catelyn tell it, she had never so much as even pecked the heir of "rocks and sheep pellet" on the cheek.

Well, here i finally had my answer: it was Lysa.

"...Edmure got drunk, young as he was… and Petyr tried to kiss [Catelyn], only she pushed him away. She laughed at him. He looked so wounded I thought my heart would burst, and afterward he drank until he passed out at the table. Uncle Brynden carried him up to bed before my father could find him like that...

"That was the night I stole up to his bed to give him comfort. I bled, but it was the sweetest hurt. He told me he loved me then, but he called me Cat, just before he fell back to sleep. Even so, I stayed with him until the sky began to lighten...
It was Lysa "comforting" a drunk young Petyr, giving him her red flower and then slipping away early in the morning... and all through the drunk Petyr thought it was 'Cat'. Back when Hoster Tully was dying and crying "tansy", Catelyn finally figured out the reason behind Lysa's refusal to come see their father but the full story still eluded her: Petyr Baelish had challenged Brandon Stark because he thought it was Catelyn who had slept with him. smiley

It's actually amusing that this once Littlefinger's stories weren't outright lies; he'd just been deceived.

Pay heed if you will: NOTHING is certain. The White Walkers may yet conquer the whole of Westeros. Any man (or woman), including Jon Snow, may die... or may live. Either way, it makes zero difference to the many-faced god.
