PoliticsRe: Man Who Spent 29 Years In Nigeria Reveals The Appalling Difference Between Black by kay9(m):
GreyLaw:
I'm sorry my reply is coming late.

But why should we swap cultures and education with them? Is it not a sign of their superiority that the education and cultures they developed are seen to be better, and the main drivers of their excellence in every field of human endeavour?

You cannot bind a strong man in his house if you are not stronger. The White man came to Africa, colonised the Black race, and forced his language on upon him. Even till date, the White man's languages are the mainstay of the Black race. That, sir, is superiority at its best.

How many of our local languages have we updated to reflect the modern day realities of science and tech, or even arts? Yet, Armenians, Germans, the English, Lithuanians, and some other funny European tribes can proudly teach a six-year course in Medicine, or Engineering, in their languages!

Even the Orientals are better! Japanese people rough-handled the Koreans and Chinese, and it'll surprise you Japan colonised these people mercilessly. Yet, these people rose above their past and are challenging the West (including Japan).

The Black race has no excuse, for put the White man in Black Africa and he'll still do wonders.

A prime example: give America or any other developed country to the African born and bred Black man and he'll tear down the very fabrics of civilisation there.

Case study: for all the evils of apartheid in South Africa, yet, the White man gave her the economic and infrastructural developments she has today. After Mandela, what have Zuma, Mbeki and co done?

Like I said, the White man may not be a better human being per se, but he is far better in mind. His foresight, power of abstract reasoning and nation building are unparalled.
Bro, God bless you!!

I have been singing this same song to my friends, my family, anybody that'll listen. There is something inherently wrong in the way that we - we Nigerians, we sub-Saharan Africans, we Black people - there is something very wrong in the way we think. We raise our children to think first and foremost for themselves. We celebrate wealth, power and strength, irrespective of how it is gotten - and we make mockery of the poor and weak. We practically hate to have anything to do with misfortune and hardship - "it is not my portion! i reject it in jesus name!".... and yet we want our society to get better. We dance and chorus to "if u no get money, hide your face!", so our youths do everything and anything to get that money... Well, news flash - we are the product of our own collective mindset.

We only celebrate wealth and power - so we have rich men who do everything in their power to remain rich and oppress the poor.

We believe the end justifies the means - so we have crooks and thieves and corrupt criminals in power... and we keep on singing their praises. Because in our eyes, they are successful, "dem don hammer", and if we praise them, emulate them and do as they do, we will "hammer" too.

We refuse to stand up for each other - so the police and military, mopol, sars, they shoot and kill and arrest with impunity, because they know an average Nigerian will never put his life on the line for another person - "never! make i die troway like dat?"

Those politicians, corrupt officials, government appointees and so on that embezzle billions, where did they come from? Did they fall down from heaven, or climb out of the ground?? Of course not! They are ALL ordinary Nigerians like me and you, they were born in Nigeria, grew up in Nigeria, and then joined their forebears in dragging Nigeria even further down - and when they are done, other ordinary Nigerians will replace them and do even worse. IT IS ALL IN OUR MINDS, AND UNTIL WE ALL DECIDE TO THINK FOR EACH OTHER FIRST, INSTEAD OF OURSELVES, NOTHING WILL CHANGE.

I have already made my own decision: I WILL BE DIFFERENT, AND I WILL RAISE MY CHILDREN TO BE DIFFERENT. I will raise them to be better than I was raised - to put justice, equity, and honesty before wealth and power.

The choice is ours: Stop complaining; just change yourself first.

As much as I agree with you on dredging and creating more sea port, which personally, I still have beef with Jonathan on, I still mentain that the northern part, especially from Kaduna which is mostly landlocked sure needs an inland dry port.

Remember that it's with dry port that transportation system, especially the rail, will be boosted more. Better transport system will have to be provided for the transportation of intermodal containers.

That is to talk less of the safety, fast and ease of doing business
Yeah... you are quite right with the bolded after all. I'm just reluctant to jump on the bandwagon because i know what happens to the millions and billions allocated to these kind of projects. So I'd rather they execute the more obvious jobs first - rails, dredge the Niger, and revamp ports. The inland ports can come afterwards when it can actually bear the fruits it promises.
PoliticsRe: A by kay9(m): 7:57pm On Jan 06, 2018
MosD:
Love your analyses. It's unfortunate how projects are being handled in this country. We miss Yaradua on that. That however does not rule out the fact that the north, especially, needs inland dry port to ease import/export business
I'm sorry but i disagree with the bolded. Yes, an inland dry port is a wonderful idea, but there is a SIMPLER, CHEAPER, and more ECONOMY-BOOSTING alternative: ensure the funds allocated for dredging the Niger is utilised as budgeted; improve security in the waterways; and then get the inter-country rail systems working!

The rails will grossly cut down transport costs of goods down to Lokoja/Onitsha, from where they can be ferried; while a functional cargo transport river-network via the Niger to the port (Calabar preferably, it already has a free trade zone!) will cost even less. I'm not even going to mention the boost this will bring to the Transport sub-sector as whole, the huge load it will take off our current reliance on road transport...

All this is not rocket science, we simply lack leaders who have to willpower and zeal to get the system working again. They'll rather jump to a new "fantastic" project that will suddenly make all the problems disappear. Well we all know how that always works out.

PoliticsRe: A by kay9(m): 7:11pm On Jan 06, 2018
Onne port in Rivers State is under-used and neglected.

Calabar port and its free-trade zone (FTZ) in Cross River State is lying fallow.

Millions are allocated for dredging the Niger from Forcados/Escravos through Onitsha up to Lokoja every year, even though the Onitsha port in Anambra State has been lying decrepit since the 70's and totally forgotten for decades. And don't even bother to ask the dredging is actually done..

Yet... yet here we are talking of "inland dry ports".

Not bad... although at this stage of the story i simply mislike guessing who kills who, too much spoilers already, just want to be surprised.

I didn't see previous main actors like Sean Bean (Ned Stark), Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister), and Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell), so i judged the listed characters' performance based on the last season (7) only. Also i think the "Lannister storyline (Cersei/Jaime)" ought to include Tyrion.

Do show the results when done.

The question is not wrong. It says which of these houses are not in the east?
Lannister is not in the east
Clegane is not in the east
Swft is not in the east
Lyden is not in the east.

So what is wrong about the question?
Smh... Wode is also not in the east, it is sworn to House Whent of Harrenhal - the Riverlands.

All right, if you say so. Seems to me like what you wanted to ask though was which of these Houses is not in the West? All are in the west except House Wode.

#13. Tourneys don't count as defeat, so the answer is Randyl Tarly. Jon Connignton never met Robert during the Battle of Bells (Bobby B's forces actually won the battle, thanks to Ned Stark and Jon Arryn).

I think rhaegar was a monogamist and a romantic, he married ellia for duty but actually fell in love with lyanna, that he would have married lyanna anyway to legitimize the third head of his dragon love or lack of it irrespective in the name of duty and prophesy got sweetened by the fact that he actually fell in love with her and went out of his way to honor her by annulling his marriage to ellia.
My opinion though

Cc: Yonce
Monogamist? Well, you did say its your opinion.

You know, i'm a lil with beyonce on this one. The show's Rhaegar looked like a washed-up wasted legolas, 10 yrs past his prime.

BraniacX:
when king James of house Tudor of England had his marriage to is it queen Catherine of Spain? annulled, their daughter princess Mary still remained his legitimate daughter and second in line to the throne after young prince edward as at the time of his death and she even went on to become queen after the untimely death of her younger brother, so this is an example of an annulment from middle age pre-victorian England, so using that as a template, would you say someone as obsessed with prophesy as rhaegar would disinherit his first son aegon just to bequeath a "potential" yet unborn second son the throne?

Cc: Gbola5
Aegon by Elia Martell remains legitimate, QED.

So what was the point of the whole annulment? Targaryens have an established history of polygamy, so he could've just straight-up married Lyanna. Really, the show's visuals are still cool and all but the storyline just gets shittier the farther away from the last book. Of course, it still won't stop me from rushing to download if a secret episode 8 suddenly airs tomorrow.
TV/MoviesRe: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by kay9(m): 3:41pm On Sep 02, 2017
This is the best explanation I've seen for Jon Snow's real name reveal as Aegon:
https://www.reddit.com/r/freefolk/comments/6wikpw/for_all_the_why_did_rhaegar_name_two_of_his_sons/

But to be honest it still feels like shitty naming to me. Several equally storied Targaryen names out there to choose from: Daeron the Young Dragon, Aemon the Dragonknight... The "theory" that the Prince that was Promised will be named Aegon is just bollocks; there's no such prophecy, no mention of it ANYWHERE. The first PtwP was named "Azor Ahai" for chrissakes.

It seems logical that if the status of the parents reverts back to single, as in never married(unlike a divorce), that the children should become bastards. Is that the case ? I really don't know.
PreacherX:
A child can be legitimized, like Ramsay Bolton.
I personally dislike unfounded assumptions.

GRRM drew inspiration from Victorian England for the great houses of the Seven Kingdoms. There's no precedence of a divorce in both books and the show, so perhaps that's where answers concerning the status of noble offspring(s) of a divorcee should be sought from. So... research on victorian england, anyone?

Mind u, my point is not whether Tecno is a China brand or not, but what I am saying is that Tecno is so rubbish, they don't even meet the Chinese standards.
Very true.

If you have a low budget, then you should certainly stick to tecno, gionee, and the likes. Oddly enough low-priced phones of established brands like samsung can be really frustrating and often shipped with weak specs. But if you're planning to shell out some heavy banana skins, then do yourself a favor and stick to those established international brands - samsung, htc, sony, etc. Their high-end phones can be ridiculously overpriced, but at least you get good value for your money.

Ksslib:
So after years of procrastination, i finally decided to see what all the rave about this "almighty" GOT was all about. The show was basically all over my face: every fffucking page on the net had something related to GOT.

It seemed like an obsession for everyone on the planet except myself. It made me feel out-of-place, yet very special, like an innocent child yet to partake in the evils of this world. I was definitely going to watch the "almighty" GOT but I wanted the moment to be prefect. I wanted it to be with the right phone, the perfect sitting position, the perfect weather etc. I wanted the Universe to show me a sign, the stars to align and signal that it was the perfect moment that will ever exist in time to start watching. I am the last of my kind afterall, if I am going to lose my virginity, the moment has to be perfect & never forgotten throughout history.

I knew the time had come when every Google search concerning anything kept returning the phrase "is Jon snow dead? ".

"Who the ffuck is Jon Snow? What's my business with Jon Snow? " , I'll ask Google search in frustration every single fffucking time before retyping my initial request for 100th time - "show me pictures of Samsung galaxy note 8".

I started watching GOT about two weeks ago and finished s7episode6 this evening( yea I don't like rushing), and all i have to say is nothing. Nothing is the only word that can do justice to GOT. Game of Thrones is so beautiful that trying to describe her beauty might put a dent on the goddess. I don't even want to talk about what makes her beautiful: if it's her nose, lips, full hips or pointed tips. Her beauty is a mystery and will remain so in my heart.

Side note: Game of Thrones is a fantasy movie, understand this & slowly let it sink in. The moment you start "looking" for flaws, the whole purpose of everything gets defeated. The purpose of cinema itself gets defeated. The purpose of storytelling gets defeated.

Nothing is real, nothing is fake. Reality is a matter of perspective. Your dream becomes your reality when you're in that dream and life becomes an illusion that doesn't exist, UNTIL you wake up.

I enjoy books and movies because when I am reading or watching, I don't even remember I exist. The fact that we get attached and emotional to what happens to characters in stories is a clue that to the mind, nothing is real and nothing is fake. It's just a matter of perspective.

No one wants to hear a realistic story. Absolutely fffucking no one. But everybody loves a great story

A wise man once said , " The greatest stories ever told are the greatest stories ever told because we all decided to play stupid".

Of course that wise man is me. The dwarf taught me well. grin

And sorry for the epistle folks, it's a curse I carry.
Bravo! Bravo!! cool

So, he should be carrying his wolf up and down? That's more logical to you?
You bitter child of summer, you really know nothing...

Sansa and Arya Stark took their direwolves south with them, and barring that mishap by the Trident, would have brought them to Kings Landing. The last King in the North, Robb Stark, took his direwolf everywhere he went, to every war council and battlefield, and even to a marriage in the Twins. Jon Snow himself has always gone practically everywhere with his direwolf. He took it north of the Wall all the way to the Milkwater where he first met Mance Raydar; Ghost is practically a part of his identity, and Jon never goes anywhere he might be in danger without his direwolf. So kindly explain why Jon Snow will now suddenly decide to leave behind his direwolf when he's going to treat with a dragonqueen? Simple: the show's budget can't accomodate it.

The singular reason there's been a reduced screen-time for the direwolves starting season 5 was because of the CGI budget. This was why Summer was killed off and they had Jon go to Hardhome without his direwolf: budget. I suppose I could easily post D.and.D's own response back in 2015 when fans complained that the direwolves were getting less screen compared to Dany's dragons... but I'd rather not. Get off your lazy child-of-summer ass, do some search online and stop arguing blindly.

One word: Budget.

Of course it defies reason that King Snow would go anywhere without his direwolf, especially when he's going to treat with a dragon queen. But logical reasoning is best suspended if one wishes to enjoy this season 7.
