armadeo:The Mountain, freakishly fast he's not. |
SIRcumalot:Bet the Lords Tyrell and Redwyne felt the same way. ![]() But hey, you can cheer now, seeing as Gbola5 basically Arthur Dayne'd our arguments with his opinion that Snow is most certainly not the bees' knees. |
kay9:So nobody got the reference? Really? Well, its only the most iconic dialogue in the entire GoT/ASoIaF universe... |
Endtimesmith:Sacrifice my foot. This fella was OBESE; if he'd lost all that fat from exercise, there'd be HUGE rolls of flabby, excess skin. Just one word for this: Surgery. ...Or someone is very good with Photoshop. ...Or the 2nd picture is actually the "before", while the 1st is the "after". ![]() ...And of course there's still the possibility that this isn't the same person at all. Just saying. ![]() |
Personally i find this video just funny Look, let's call a spade by its baptismal name jor.Dude cheats, you catch him, he cheats again, you catch him again, in fact you catch him several times! And yet you keep sticking around, cos.... what? He's your "best friend"? Eziokwu?? My dear, you're not in love, you're not even "in friend"; what you are is unhealthy. If you are still pinning away for some dude that treated you like that, and still calling him your best friend, then you most certainly need psychological medical help. The dude may be the biggest shmuck on the internet, but the babe has a bigger problem: she doesn't love herself. Meanwhile, what is wrong with oyinbo people sef? Who tf thought it would be a good idea to make some babe relive her worst heartbreak? #sheesh |
Papikush:Hang on a sec... Please how exactly does one display an "I am sorry for breaking your heart" attitude? |
And yet you are still here? ![]() |
IamaNigerianGuy:The bolded is the saddest part of it all... Only God knows the sorrow and anguish this poor woman and her family are going through now.. ![]() |
Gbola5:Mmmm... food for thought. I think Jon as portrayed in GoT will stand a chance, though. Or maybe i'm just letting sentiment cloud my judgement. |
Isn't Mr. Hands that dude that got f**kd by a horse and died afterwards? Almost laughed my head off when I first read that..
|
Gbola5:Grandmaester G, I wondered when you'd show up... In Ned Stark's voice: I looked for you during the heated "Jon Snow vs. The Mountain" battle of wits yesterday... I argued with examples and BraniacX argued with passion, and SIRcumalot finally bent the knee to pledge us fealty. I was certain you'd be there... ![]() Aiit, just tell me this: From your encyclopedic knowledge of GoT/ASOIAF lore, do you think Jon Snow (at his present skill and expereince level) will beat Gregor Clegane (not Robert Strong oo) in a duel TO THE DEATH? Give as many references as you feel like (we enjoy reading them!). |
elrony:You know, i don't remember if it was ever confirmed whether its just the stones they cut, or if the pillar is taken away too... Everybody on GoT is a possible candidate for horrible gruesome death... everybody except Jon Snow. ![]() |
peacesamuel94: peacesamuel94:First you need faith. Then you need "levels" of faith. But at the same time you only need a mustard seed-size of faith... *smh* Just look at yourself and your hapless argument. |
SIRcumalot:Lemme ask you something, besides th staged fight with Qhorin, why is it that each and every time Jon Snow is matched in a kill-or-be-killed fight against stronger, more experienced, and more powerful opponents, he comes out on top? Just dumb luck? In a world as gritty and stark (pardon the pun ) as the one GRRM is crafting, how long can such luck hold? I prefer to think that the book author and show producers are trying to tell us something about the guy: never underestimate him. |
SIRcumalot:Actually, Longclaw is a bast@rd sword; it is an extra half-foot longer than the regular longsword. Of course that doesn't help the argument that Snow was disadvantaged... ![]() But i still stand by my opinion: if it came down to a duel to the death between Snow and Gregor, Snow would win. Blame it on "special assistance" if you like. |
BraniacX:My brother, it depends on the battlefield. ![]() On an average day, even 15 Unsullied would problems taking down Arthur Dayne. But add a smart experienced general on the side of the Unsullied, and you have another Thermopylae waiting to happen. What you can do though, is put Arthur Dayne on a horse. A war destrier to charge through that shield-wall, and the Sword of the Morning finishes everything else. |
BraniacX:Where is the Hound? Barristan is dead in the show and Victarion's character isn't cast at all. I think that counts them out here. Jon Snow has consistently bested fighters that ordinarily should beat him in a fair duel, so he's kind of a wild card; on a list i'd rather place him where he would be without his "assisted" power levels, which is below Brienne. So the real question is, will Brienne beat Tormund "Giantsbabe"? I think not. EDIT: Hang on, i take it back. Snow would beat Brienne. And at his current experience level, without "assistance", he could possibly best Tormund if Stark honor is at stake. |
BraniacX:^^ You and Arthur Dayne sef, lol... A sound analysis sha. |
BraniacX:The above bolded is why 100 Arthur Dayne's may not be able to beat 100 Unsullied that easily... it will come down to the terrain of the battle. Open field; the Daynes finish the fight in less than an hour. Closed in terrain with flanks fully covered; it will probably take the whole day, but the Unsullied will take the day. |
BraniacX:EDIT I just re-read and realized you were referring to Unsullied, not Spartans. |
SIRcumalot:We all know the Halfhand fight was a ruse. And you are right that Snow's skill is overrated by people in both show and books (Ramsay's words before the Bast@rd Bowl, something along the lines of Jon now the best swordsman alive...). I will admit, the best fighters still alive in the GoT universe look something like this: Robert Strong > Bronn > Daario > the Hound > Tormund > Brienne... But imagine this: Jon and Sansa somehow run into Zombie Clagane, and Zombie Clagane punches Sansa's face in; Jon loses it, whips out his sword and Longclaw starts singing. Who do think wins that fight? Maybe I'm just sentimental but I think Jon Snow will win that fight, most likely by act of god. |
SIRcumalot:The cavalry charge was a stupid move, of course. But surviving it took more than luck. The Thenn had him pinned, yes. Still the fight stands as evidence of Jon's skill with the blade. For the WW, my reference is to his speed evading the ice blade and the repost with Longclaw. So no, you need more than just the right tool. I will grant Jon may not be in the "elite" Arthur Dayne category yet, but you don't need to be there to beat the Mountain. Oberyn Martell was certainly not there. |
SIRcumalot:I get amused when people underestimate Jon Snow... Battle of Castle Black, Snow vs. Thenn; that's for skill. Battle of Hardhome, Snow vs. Whitewalker; that's for speed. Bast@rds Bowl, Snow survives cavalry charge, survives the battle, survives stampede, runs on foot all the way to the castle gates, and finishes the fight inside Winterfell; that's for endurance. Jon wields Longclaw, a bast@rd sword which another half-foot longer than the usual longsword, and still light enough to swing with one hand. Am i still making you laff? |
GoodDieYoung:Bronn would beat the Mountain; Daario would beat the Mountain; Jon Snow would beat the Mountain; even the Hound would beat him. Gregor Clegane wielded his sword like a cutlass; he was sheer strength and power and very little skill. Oberyn could have ended that fight any time he chose, but instead he got cocky and mouthy. However if you are talking of Sir Robert Strong aka Zombie Clegane... i don't know if anybody can beat that one. ![]() |
Isomerizm:Did we ever really see pre-swordhand-loss Jaime fight in the show? His brief tussle with Ned Stark isn't really a good yardstick to judge him by, cos so far the evidence indicates that Oberyn will poke him full of holes, swordhand or no. But going by his reputation in the books, the youngest member of the Kingsguard ever, born to wield a sword, mmmm... i think he'd beat the Viper. |
armadeo:I beg to disagree. Both the Spartans and the Unsullied receive gruesome training right from infancy. Both of them are also armed similarly (spear and shield), and they both fight in phalanx formations. So technically/skill-wise, they are equal; so the difference lies their stamina and endurance (as in, who gets tired first?), and the best way to gauge this is by comparing their battles. Now let's do some research... In the Battle for the Free City of Qohor (the one you referred to), the Unsullied force of 3,000 withstood a Dothraki horde of 20,000; after EIGHTEEN cavalry charges, 2,400 Unsullied and over 12,000 Dothraki lay dead. The Dothraki withdrew and cut off their locks as they rode by as a sign of defeat. Compare this to the Battle of Thermopylae (the real story of the 300), were a Lacedaemonian army numbering about 7,000 (300 Spartans plus others, led by King Leonidas of Sparta) fought a Persian army numbering over 150,000 over the course of THREE DAYS to a stand-still. Between day1 and day2, the Spartans lost less than 500 men, while the Persians lost OVER 20,000. Then on day3, the Lacedaemonians were betrayed and their flanks exposed; about 5,000 retreated, while the main force of 300 Spartans and roughly 1,100 others remained and fought to the death. Now consider this: the Unsullied had the city wall protecting the backs, so they could not be exposed, and the Dothraki also refused to attack from the flanks. And yet 2,400 Unsullied were slain. In the same situation, the Spartans lost LESS THAN 500. Granted, the Unsullied were fighting mounted cavalry (i.e. men on horses), while the Spartans fought mostly infantry (soldiers on foot), yet its a testament to their endurance that the Spartans lasted 2 whole days with very minimal loses. It was only after a saboteur called Ephialtes led the Persians through a hidden pass and attacked from behind that the Spartans lost the fight. My conclusion is the Spartans have more endurance than the Unsullied. Both armies will probably be equal in strength and skill, so if the battle goes quickly, it may be a tie. But if it is extended for long, the Spartans will win. |
SirWere:Easy. There are 300 Spartans, there are 7000-ish Unsullied; they meet in open battlefield... do the math. ![]() If we want to be fair though and make it an equal balanced encounter, 300 Spartans vs 300 Unsullied on an open field, i believe both armies will annihilate each other... however, the last man standing would be a Spartan. Now who wants to know why i think so? |
Somehow you've managed to forget clarifying the most important thing... ARE YOU MALE OR FEMALE?? And your profile doesn't help. You are willing to send pictures but you've declined to put one up in your profile. Really? ![]() |
Mmm... John Nash dem. |
AshawoGirl:I do... or at least I used to; pony's in the paddock now. Back then, oh yeah by all means bring on the BJ, but the second i feel them teeth, its off. You'd be amazed how few girls there are that can give a good head without flaying you with their teeth... Nice one, OP. |
I think I'll just sit back and watch the bashing this thread will soon receive. ![]() |
