seyewest: This is so true , US visit visa as to specific standard to be met. its totally at the discretion of the VO at the time of interview , unlike immigrant visa that as specific requirements to be met. |

tmeeto: That could most likely cause the denial. But having said that, some people still get granted despite their immigration pending application! They just need to show a higher ties to Nigeria. |

pclevercheta: Not 100% sure of my position though, but frankly speaking, the VO accessed her based on the information on the current form she submitted and not on the retrieved one. People that have genuine reasons , and good jobs and profile also get refused many times when they are unable to convince d VO during that extremely short visa interview. so getting refused US visa is not a big deal if I must be sincere with you. Thank God its her true profile that she attended the interview with. she should stick to it and be truthful always. when to apply again? depending on the reason she wanted to travel , if its very very necessary for her to go to US now ( like to close a big deal on behalf of a big coy, medical , govt meetings , etc )she can reapply almost immediately. But if her reasons falls under not really very necessary reasons ( like tourism, visit of friends or family etc , I ll advice she wait for some time like a year plus , because she ll likely get same result if she rush to reapply. |

pclevercheta: I saw your post and understood u clearly, because I have passed through same experience of an agent giving me a job profile that I don't have. I cancelled the appointment and latter applied with my genuine information , although I was refused then but I guess it does not have to do with the info the agent filled for me, but because I was not convincing enough then. I applied later again with a more pressing reason to be in US and I was granted visa. My take , she was not refused because of the form the agent earlier filled. She was most likely refused because the VO felt that she is not qualified as @that time , probably cos her reasons for travel are not good enough from the VO perspective. Was an appointment booked b4 you demanded for the correction? NOTE: my own case , appointment already booked and I cancelled it like 48hrs to the day. 1 Like |

nefertitiram: you are always qualified to be sponsored for immigrants visa by siblings irrespective of the age and marital status. Its only the time it ll take that is affected by these factors. |

slightlyMad: I got my visit visa granted few weeks ago, and yes I said I wanted to attend a function my American citizen sister ll be having in US. It is more of your social and financial ties in Nigeria that ll give u a chance to be granted visa not weather you have a relative in us or not. It is also true that at times it is more difficult to be granted tourist visa when you have an immediate family residing in US. But thousand of people still get their visa granted despite having American sibling living in US. 1 Like |

desireeclarke: My opinion, let her apply with all truthfulness. Luckily there is no where in their form that requested for if you have been deported from another country or not. ( I know both countries share criminal informations together) but if her case was not treated as a criminal case , it ll not come up in the interview. But if any question is raised in that direction, she should not hide the fact that she was once deported. If she is upfront and truthful , deportation from another country since 2009 will not give her permanent inadmissibility to the US. 1 Like |

cookiejar99: Its the confirmation on your appointment that you ll need to take along . if its the old one that is on your appointment , you ll need to call the embassy to inform them that you want them to update your form to d new form you have filled. |

Pwhitelaw: A lot of people get US visa without any prior travel experience. They focus more on your family / social ties to Nigeria than weather you have travel out b4 or not. Although previous travels could be an added advantage in some situations. 2 Likes |

LadyGuinivere: oh. I didn't mean they ll not know. Fingerprints taken @ d embassy ll reveal that its the same person applying. What I just stress for him is that with 11 years in between , he can apply again and b truthful about his present and past application if asked about it. |

LadyGuinivere: even without inconsistencies US visa or any visa is never a sure thin. But he should let them stop him in a future application and not him stopping himself for ever. once he was not banned then , and there is a reasonable time past. He can always try his luck , be truthful this time , and if he got refused, he can then move on and try latter. He shouldn't just ban himself forever if he was not actually banned by us govt . With the experience of my friend I shared, his case is not a total hope lost. 1 Like |

brighter2moro: Dear bright . 11 years is very long. b4 lying anywhere we should always think of d permanent damage it may cause. However , it may not be bad as you think. A friend was in similar situation, agent helped him fill his form, told him not to b opened that he has a sibling in US , but just wanted to visit a family friend and he was refused visa. Almost 10yrs after, he wanted to apply again to visit his sibling that he didn't disclosed he had previously , now with a new passport that his year of birth is different from d year on previous passport , with UK refusal stamps. He was scared. I adviced him to fill yes to have you applied b4 question, and VO not satisfied to Y he was refuse visa then. And also to be plane should the VO referred to his previous application. As God we have it , the interview was successful with no question asked about his previous application or about the inconsistencies with the current one. My conclusion , give it a shot where you are based. Don't try to cover up if questions are raised about your previous application. I strongly beleive that If you are truly qualified for it now , you ll be granted! . |

Dear Abujaniv, Thanks once more for taking timeout to assist with valuable informations here. My visit visa and 2 other family members(all adults) were approved on Friday @ the Lagos embassy. I couldn't even listen effectively to the instructions on how to collect our passports back. I was only given a generic white paper. No personal information of us was on it. I was thinking an additional card with our details was supposed to be attached to d white paper. Is the single white paper enough to claim our passports? I ll appreacaite any information as regards avoiding going there more than once. Also when is the visa granted on Friday likely to be ready for collections? Thanks. |
