There is no business in Nigeria that is free from these extortions. Is it private transporters, schools, kiosks etc. The truth is you have to have the mind of a thief to operate a business in Nigeria. There are ways to boycott some of these taxes but it defies morality and its damn illegal. You just have to cross ur mind and start. |
MartinCorridon:The soldiers are not given better choice. I believe if I were in the soldiers shoes I would have done same. If they accept the posting, they die facing book haram, if they shoot their superiors they also die. They were suppose to be with their families not this. |
National Assembly invasion: APC makes a U-turn, defends DSS’ action AYODELE 9 AUG 2018 The All Progressives Congress, which had on Tuesday absolved itself from the invasion, on Wednesday defended the action of the Department of State Services’ operatives. The APC claimed that the action of the DSS officers was taken to prevent a plot by Saraki to incite violence. This was contained in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Yekini Nabena, in Abuja. The APC’s new position is in sharp contrast to the position it took soon after the invasion on Tuesday, when it condemned the DSS action and dissociated itself from it. The APC said on Wednesday that the “timely intervention” of the security operatives averted a potential loss of lives, injuries and destruction of property. Nabena alleged that Saraki mobilised thugs to the National Assembly adding that the new position was the product of an investigation. The statement read, “Following Tuesday’s incident at the National Assembly, our investigations have now uncovered the sinister plot hatched by the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, to foment violence in the legislative chamber all in a bid to stop his impeachment,” the statement read. “Our investigations uncovered and noted the following: We are now aware that the timely intervention of the security operatives forestalled the planned violence which could have led to possible deaths, injuries and destruction of property in the National Assembly on Tuesday. “Why did the Senate President mobilise thugs to the National Assembly who almost lynched Hon. E.J. Agbonayinma, the only APC federal lawmaker present but for the timely intervention of security operatives.” He added, “Why did the Senate President reconvene the National Assembly? Ostensibly as a pre-emptive move to frustrate federal lawmakers’ move to remove him. “Is it not curious that only the Peoples Democratic Party federal lawmakers were present in their numbers, some as early as 7am, while the majority APC federal lawmakers were elsewhere holding a caucus meeting on the state of the nation.” Nabena called on security agencies to probe the incident and take necessary action. “As espoused in our earlier statement, whilst our contention with the leadership of the National Assembly as currently constituted is a matter of public record, we still believe that the legislature as an independent arm of government must be allowed free reign for vibrant contestation of ideas and values amongst its members within the context of their constitutional mandate and for the benefit of the Nigerian people,” he said. He called for the resignation of the Senate President, saying, “Finally, we reiterate our call for the Senate President to resign from the position immediately as he no longer has the moral and legitimate grounds to occupy that position as a member of the minority PDP. “Going by the popular axiom, the majority will have their way, but the minority will have their say.” https://punchng.com/national-assembly-invasion-apc-makes-a-u-turn-defends-dss-action/amp/?__twitter_impression=true |
BlackPeni5:Can you imagine the bolded part. The APC want to kill the citizens for talking against the wicked govt but does nothing about those embezzling the money for everyone. Who among those two set of people deserve death? What this means is that if people like Fela, Gani Fawhemi and the likes were still alive, this govt would have killed them for hate speech. This govt is worse than any military regime I've experienced in my life. Abdusalam regime was even better than this. |
icedfire:Bro are you in this country at all? The IG of police has virtually insulted the president more than once and you still expect a reaction from the president. What is left is for the IGP to slap the president in public |
If you don't know such positions are given based on tribal sentiments. Nepotism and all. Please forget about such positions rather aim to be a governor or president. |
Deadlytruth:@ the bolded. You well so. Why do most of you kids think people against the state police support one Nigeria. IPOB and their warped mind will not cease to amaze me. If you have travelled to most states in Nigeria, tell me one state where the ordinary citizens in the street support one Nigeria. North or south. Such things only exist in the internet. I'm talking about how a useless policy might endanger my life, you are talking of one Nigeria. Look at the SARS for example. How are you enjoying them? State govts don't have money to pay staffs whether security or not. The reality is that when you give a man a gun and consistently make him sad, he will one day vent his anger on you and the disaster you are seeing now will be like child's play compare to what you will see. Although I'm still waiting to read the full bill cause I trust the senate would have also seen the problems am talking about and there should be steps to handle such crisis if it emerges |
asdfjklhaha:The problem you highlighted is what many are not seeing. We are about to move from frying pan to fire. Let's take the state NEC for example, how many of them have been able to conduct elections since inception and those that conducted the elections, were they free and fair? Today most people are agitating that LGA elections are returned back to federal because states are not credible. A situation where more than half of the states in Nigeria cannot comfortably pay their workers. We arr talking of something like this. Before we changed to federal police what were the problems we encountered with regional police. An example is that during election, opposition were arrested on flimsy or no reason at all. Can we guarantee that something of this nature will cease? Saraki and his mates have been trying but until I see the complete bill this might just be more problems |
DevelopNaija:Give me one example of a clean environment anywhere in the world where the government does not have any sttategy for environmental issue yet the environment is clean. And to your earlier assertion that govt provide refuse dump but people refuse to use it. Please that is a lie except you are talking about few states in the south, I'm assuming you are addressing the Nation not Lagos or calabar. This site is used by people from various states. When You go to most states in Nigeria, nothing like that. ***modified*** Ok I get you now. What you are saying is dump sites. Goodness me. Dump sites can't solve anything. Jesus! Let's take an example. In practical term, how do these dirt get to the street? When someone eats or drink pure water in ojota or Ikorodu. Say Ikorodu garage. Is there a refuse bin close by where you can put the dirt to avoid you throwing it on the street. As you walk the sttrets there should be visible bins everywhere. I know Lagos is trying in this area but how many states are following suit? |
omohayek:Who says soiling ones environment is a form of protest. It is a failure of government. Stop excusing the government for its failures. The people cannot come together to handle their rubbish disposal because that is the reason they formed the government in the first place. Tell me one ideal society where people after having a goverment still come together to take the job of government. And saying we don't pay tax is nonsense. I don't know which part of Nigeria you stay and the kin of job you do but here in the southern part people pay their taxes. Infact they are over yaxed by various means known as multiple taxation. If you drive a car and you renew your papers you are taxed, if you drink a beer you are paying a type of tax known a Indirect tax. The reason it appears to you most of us don't pay tax is because most of the population are unemployed. Did you expect an unemployed man to pay his tax. In any case if we all are not unemployed and we still do not pay tax who is to be held responsible? Me? Is that not a failure of the government. I repeat stop blaming the citizens for what was caused by the government. The biggest problem we have is that Nigerians are not enlightened on their role and that of government. We feel if the govt don't perform a private org should instead take the role. |
DevelopNaija:At the bolded, where did you expect them to put the dirt. Did the government provide any refuse basket that the people refuse to use. Government collect tax from organisations, we shouldn't be giving excuse for their non-performance. Its attitude like yours that's destroying the country |

Earthbound:My brrother I for nor watch the match sef. My apetite disappear o. |
wildcatter23:The truth is that Mochedda na pikin for where Ruggedmanr dey. He wasn't really trying to let her down, he was saying the obvious |
I've often wandered why the job of internal security is now left for the military. The military is saying the absolute truth. They are not trained to handle such situations, that is the job of the immigration. What many of us are not seeing or saying is that the reason for these security challenges in the first place is because of a failure of the agencies under the interior ministry. DSS, Immigration, police, etc. The big question is what is the govt doing to strengthen these agencies? In Nigeria, many people still see the immigration as a useful agency apart from issuing passport. |
Farouk Lawan is a thief! That is what he's known for. The man who stuffs money in his caps. A thief. It was because of people like him GEJ said stealing was not corruption. |
HiddenShadow:What nonsense did you just type. Hate is blind folding most of you from seeing reality. Here in Benin City Brightens electricity has been producing sine wave inverter, locally made. Its office is close to UBTH. If you wish to learn the technology, he is even willing to teach you. I think the training is 100k(not so sure of the amount) |
life2017:Abeg no mind the guy. What you said is the absolute truth. In few years time when buhari and David Mark's grandchildren start ruling us. E go clear for their eyes |
DIYhackers:Can you prove it that the last part is incorrect? The truth is there is nothing important in the bill. It favours the rich and there is nothing to celebrate there. In few years to come you will understand it better. I'm more interested in what is happening to the price of commodities (e.g Garri) in the market. |
If a Bull mastiff should angrily bite your hand, you will be dealing with injuries like fracture. That is if your hand is still in your body |
UNIQUEISRAEL:That amount is even for those in the public sector. In the private sector some earn as low as $27-$30 |
CarlosTheJackal:Please you have done well. Don't bother about those saying otherwise. There is a difference between boys and men. You just proved you are a man not a boy. There are so many boys here so you will expect them to say otherwise. |
If am correct most of those artifacts if returned should go to the oba's palace and not the museum. |
CarlosTheJackal:When we have a democracy such would have been possible not this oligarchy system we have here where one set of people have held on to power since1966 and are still threatening us not to mention the word revolution because they want to hold on to power. In Nigeria the entire system of govt works perfectly for the elite not the people. |
And they blamed fulani herdsmen for that attack. What kind of country is this? |
And the allowed the giraffe escape? They should have killed it immediately!! |
naptu2:I never said state electoral commissions were not responsible for the conduct of LG elections. If you saw that in my post point it out. My point is that the fact that various states are now hurriedly conducting LG elections might be a pointer that the powers might soon leave that of the state and move to the Federal |
Double post |
