VictoriaBee: Hmm. ok. What about male equal rights supporter? I've seen four so far online. Two atheist. One undecided. One christian. You can be male and be a feminist. Nothing strange You can be an atheist and be a feminist; infact, I'll say my profiling depicts most feminists as atheists But Christianity?? mba! Too many unconnected dots. |

VictoriaBee: I think one can be a feminist even she hasn't heard the word before just by behaviour and shunning the silly status quo. I don't think so Vicky. Feminism is a movement. You are either in or out. You might be sympathetic to some of their ideologies but it doesn't make you one. Besides, I belong to the school of thought that Christianity and feminism are pararell lines. Bukatyne and I will talk this through in due time. |

freecocoa: Just answer the question, I don't care if God and his cohorts are equal as I don't believe in that, using your analogy, aren't you supposed to submit to God and jesus and the rest of them? Are you equal to God?
And yes, they are lesser than God btw. Hi freecocoa You realize the bolded is very offensive to Christians? Agreed you say you dont believe, nevertheless, it wouldn't be out of place to show some respect to the very essence of those who believe #justsaying |

babygirlfl: If I hated something so much, I will avoid it.
Both male and female non-feminists open threads about feminism, mention feminists and change every thread to a feminist thread and jump on threads talking about feminism yet you hate feminism. How can frustrated and pained feminists cause so much frustration and pain to people? The bolded beats me too |

BluStreak: It's funny when someone has an issue and come here to seek help and then peeps starts criticising the individual. Seriously, it baffles me. Nairaland is a convergence of humans from all works of life and all classes of people. Why do you guys think google has answers to almost everything? Because there isn't anything you can think of, imagine, or perceived that someone else somewhere maybe oceans away hasn't done the same.
Nairaland has taken the face of an e-community, e-family, e-neighbourhood where people present their challenges to one another (just like in the real world) hoping to get answers because someone has been through it and solved it thus, or knows someone who knows someone that has been through same and solved it this way or that way.
Please make una stop fronting. A certain member that came to ask about an issue her new born is having knows a hospital existed before she came here with the hope someone somewhere might have an answer having gone through a similar experience or a doctor/paediatrician in the house giving her a clue to what could be her baby's problem. Me I taya sef. A kind word like "oh! it's nothing to worry about just take her to the hospital" from someone might have just been the help she needed instead of the matching order dished out to her to take her baby to the hospital by most respondents. I noticed this happens a lot. E no good abeg.
Do you guys know the number of doctors, lawyers, engineers, councillors, pastors, pegans, atheists, ritualists, yahoo boys, native healers, armed robbers etc that we have here on Nairaland?
Enough of forming 'ITK' abeg.
I don talk my own. Oya make una talk una 'hown'. I quite agree with you. And the comparison with Google is on point. It's just that one also has to be careful to filter the advices one get from here and the Internet in general. But its a great place to sample opinions. |

pickabeau1: Seems most of the respondents are in sync with the observations but disagree with the conclusion so the issues exist..yes? Of course the issues exist. I agree but the question remains... why do women have to manage the home front.. according to shollypopz This is the core of the question.. to be or not to be This is the superwoman question... Why do I manage the home front? Manage in terms of cooking, cleaning, and the general co-ordination at home? I accept that it's my role and I am happy doing it. I discussed my views about family roles in the Boy's thread, remember? We all have our various roles to play within the family. I dont belong to the school of "anybody can do it". We could help one another out at some point but the resposibility of a particular role lies with a specific person. A lady getting a car is not always about society but a function of the societal or economic status in a few years this will be a thing of the past and be a normal thing All my siblings had cars immediately they finished school and it never affected their relationship That was just an example to show you how society expects you to conform to some standards as a female, but which are not in her best interest. I agree with you Delegation can help with the stress
Why do u not want to address the late marriage/divorce angle
She is saying even men who bought into the 50.50 model are leaving their partners of many years after the kids have left the roost to settle with younger, less independent women.
Thoughts? I don't agree that the issue is peculiar to career women so it's a non-issue here. |

I agree to a very large extent with all that has been written in terms of the pressure women face trying to balance their career and the home. It's not easy I must confess, no point in denying that. Yes, women are multi-tasking but in the end, we are still humans. However, I disagree that she blames it on Feminism. I am very ignorant of what feminism is so I can't even blame it on what I don't understand. I will also not blame societal expectations, inshort, I blame no one if I get depressed. I'll rather take full responsibility. As you climb up the ladder in your career, it gets hotter, the competition gets real. And sometimes, as a woman, ur battle to cto the top is multi-faceted. You have to deal with the rigors of the job itself, and the men sometimes become an additional challenge - you have to fight the stereotype that woman are not suppose to be leaders even when you merit it; then you have to manage the home front - hubby, kids, etc So truly, you can get a nervous breakdown from all these. Personally, how do I cope ? "Look like a girl, act like a lady, think like a man, work like a boss". The moment you step into that office, you become a man; if you are the boss, then be the boss. Nothing to be shy about. No stereotypes inside that wall. To survive outside the office, you cannot let society dictate to you. About 6 months after I finished Youth Service in Naija, I had gotten a job and needed to get a ride badly. I was constantly working very late in the office and commercial transportation was getting riskier by the day. Then, I got all sorts of advices from people. Some said I shouldn't get a car at all, some said I should get a very small one - Why? Just because I was a young girl who needed to attract suitors. Hahahhahahahhahahaha of course I didn't listen to all the BS. I not only got a ride but got a driver as well. And life couldn't be sweeter after that. Did I also tell you that suitors started pouring in? As a woman, I have since learned that you must not always allow society dictate to you but if you do, then it's your fault. Society does understand half the pressures you are facing. If as a lady you earn so much, you have to let your money work for you. Men are very good at this. You have to outsource a lot of ur traditional roles and do what you know how to do best. "Supervise". Get a nanny, get a cook, get a driver, cultivate personal relationships with ur kids teachers' at school. Build a strong support system for yourself at home, make them happy and you will live happily ever after. Of course, society will call you lazy, millennial woman, all sorts of names but really, what do you care? The ultimate is that you are healthy, happy, relaxed and fulfilled. @pickabeau - have I addressed any of the points? I don't know ooo As per the late marriage and divorce ish, what's the evidence that it's their careers that make women marry late or get divorced? Are women without jobs faring any better?? I think it's just one of those sweeping statements people make so I won't address that. |

There are two major referencing used in academics, you should let me know the one favoured by your lecturers/school. Sure, I will send early. Thanks so much. I guess the major thing required is consistency. I know I was once penalised for using two referencing styles in one paper But APA and Harvard are more common though Is there any functionality in Word that automatically adopts a referencing style for you? I see the different styles in Word, tried it but it never works |
