9jagobetta:The same people who are saying that Igbos are the genesis of the problem of Nigeria are the ones who have been in the corridors of power for the last 55 years. An Igbo man has not led Nigeria since July 1966. The people who said that Igbos opposed secession have not put secession in the constitution in the last 55 years they have been in charge. In fact, they dont want to hear anything secession today. They are even the ones that will send python dance after people who want secession The same people who say that Ironsi changed the constitution are the ones who came along and made the constitution much worse. At least during Ironsi's time, we still had 4 Regions and resource control. Today, the 4 Regions are long gone and so is resource control. The same decree 34 they shout about is now practiced on a much wider scale than Ironsi ever did The same people who say that Igbos conducted a coup, went on to conduct far more bloody coups that had far more ethnic connotations Those who criticise Igbos today are the same people who have used the last 55 years to turn Nigeria into the terrorist prone poverty capital of the world it is today. Everything they said Igbos did wrong, they went on to do far much worse when they took over from Igbos. But the most shocking thing about their 55 years of total failure is that their excuse, "Igbos started it and we came along and made it worse". You came along and made Nigeria far worse, in all aspects, for the last 55 years, than Igbos ever did but your excuse is that it Igbos that started the problem? The stupidity of such excuse is beyond comprehension |
Coal city no dey carry last |
Reading the letter, one can see that the main aim of Ojukwu was to dislodge Gowon and his Northern cabal from Lagos. Had that happened, there is no way Gowon could have fought the Biafran war. All Yorubas had to do was rally round Banjo, chase Gowon out of Lagos and declare Oduduwa Republic. Today, the Yorubas are stuck inside Nigeria, begging the North for appiontments, begging the North for Presidency, begging the North for restructuring and it wont be long before they beg the North for air to breathe. Ojukwu was thinking about how to achieve freedom, the rest were thinking about how to sink deeper into slavery |
post=91528969:They have been trying to derail this thread for a long time, children of hate. May Anambra continue to move foward |
Nnamdi Kanu ride on, only people who love slavery hate you |
xcon:Feeding on Northern food? You mean iI food they bought with their own money? If the North feeding anyone for free? When Nigeria breaks up, there will be a referendum. It is only by referendum that the UN will recognise any country. When that referendum comes, it will be the ethnic groups that will decide where they want to belong |
7lives:Why did they kill Ironsi? Why did they kill Murtala? Thats the nature of coups, heads usually roll |
Its not an easy thing for an unarmed man to stand up and agitate for freedom in lawless country like Nigeria. Most people cannot do this so I give it to Kanu for leading a movement for freedom |
TheGodlessGod:The British should have never have created this colonial hell called Nigeria |
Osaze007:Everyone is dominated, the SW, SS, SE. Of the four Regions we used to have, one Region now dominates the other 3. At least the Igbos stood up and fought, the others quickly accepted slavery because they could not fight |
oyatz:I dont like coups but it happend a lot back 8n the day, almost every country in Africa went through multiple coups and attempted coups. Most coups are ked by people from a particular section of a country, that is the nature of coups. Captain Nwobosi is 81 and still alive. He was even interviewed not up to two weeks ago. Captain Nwobosi led Soldiers to arrest Fani-Kayode, he gave himself up without incident. When Captain Nwobosi moved to arrest Akintola, he chose to grab a gun and open fire. According to to what I have read, Akintola died in the crossfire. It is what it is. Military officers get up and decide for whatever reason to change the leadership of a country through the barrel of the gun, often with casualties. Akintola was just one of the many casualties of the seven coups that were conducted in Nigeria. I believe Akintola would have survived had he not chose to open fire. Fani-Kayode who gave himself up survived without a scratch |
Is there no longer freedom of worship? |
oyatz:If you can understand that Nigerian Soldiers have shot and killed hundreds of unarmed IPOB members who were just protesting on the streets, then you should have no problem understanding why the same Nigerian Soldiers would kill Akintola who was armed and open fire on them first. Let us not pretend to forget or remember military brutality and unlawful killings according to if it is someone we like or hate |
Constantjohn:What has this got to do with what led to the war? |
Simplyleo:Google the Aburi agreement |
War could have been avoided had Gowon honoured the agreement he signed with Ojukwu in Ghana. But Gowon came back to Nigeria and turned his back on the agreement and Ojukwu responded by turning his back on Nigeria and declaring Biafra It was the insatiable greed of Gowon and his fellow Northerners to be masters of Nigeria that led to war. Even to this day, not much has changed. Southern Nigeria is still under the North |
Constantjohn:Even if he was captured alive, the fact that he was offered peaceful arrest, and he rejected that and chose to open fire, would have been enough reason for the troops to kill him. |
Nwobosi is still alive to give his own version. Akintola was given the opportunity to surrender peacefully but he chose to open fire. They returned fire and killed him, he was never captured alive |
As an Igbo guy, I can see that Nigeria is a failed state. The only reason Nigeria still exists is because the North needs the South to survive. The day the North gets tired of Nigeria, there will be no Nigeria. Even in 200 years time, the people of Nigeria will not be able to unite and see themselves as one. The issue of President of Nigeria is laughable. Those that have had the presidency for 10, 20 even 30 years have nothing to show for it. Those that have been president since the war ended 50 years ago in 1970 have only led Nigeria down the road of poverty and despair. There was a time they said that if an Ijaw is ever President, it would uplift the Ijaw nation. GEJ was there for 5 years and Ijaws are still where they are, if not worse Igbo agitation should be about taking control of land and resources and governing Igbo land as best as we know. Seeking the Presidency of a failed state of Nigeria will lead nowhere, ask those who have had Presidency in the past. Presidency is something you will have for just 4 years, or at best, 8 years. Then what? Igbos should be talking about Nigeria being restructured or becoming an independent country. The Presidency of Nigeria is nonsense |
Kinematics:The land size has little or no bearing on the capacity of a country to give its citizens quality life. Japan is a small country but it is the second richest country in the world. Switzerland is just the size of two states in the South East but Switzerland has a larger GDP than Nigeria You can have all the landmass in the world but if you cannot give the citizens quality life then of what use is it? Will anyone be given award for land size? It is far better to small and effective than to be large and useless |
NaijaRoyalty:True |
Killed 3 million people to keep together a country that later tuned out to be a total mess |
gbbec:Didnt you watch the video? Kanu clearly said that he brought the Prophetess on the program because he knows that she is for 'one Nigeria' and he wants people who have divergent views on Biafra to come on so that both sides could be heard So what is this nonsense about Kanu being surprised? Kanu wanted a one Nigeria supporter to come on his programme. Next time watch the video before you post it |
The Biafran war was always about those who were fighting to be free of Northern domination and those who were fighting to eternal slaves of the North Unfortunately for Biafra, the eternal slaves were far more in number |
If you ask 99.9% of those who want "one Nigeria" why they want Nigeria to remain one, you will get an answer that is so laughable that it would merit to win joke of the year |
If Amaechi has any Presidential ambition in 2023, what he should focus on for now is how to win his parties ticket. If he cannot get the APC ticket then his presidential ambition is dead already |
