Isnt it absolute stupidity for a state with so much unemployment, zero power supply, and absolutely no infrastructure, to ware house 75 billion in a cormercial bank like diamond bank.. while bankers wont even borrow the money out to Anambra indegene but to the likes of Dangote and Rabiu of Biu groups
75billion would construct a gas pipeline from Imo gas flaring fields, build a 1000 Megawatt Thermal/gas turbine power station and give Anambra 24/7 electricity with enough to sell to other state while their industries drastically develop
. He could have easily warehoused the 75 billion in a Swizz account for his personal use. You should be praising him for keeping that much money, most Governors in Nigeria will not leave a whopping 75 billion for their successor |

Juchii: With worries in my heart, I decided to make this post. What worries me? Our envy and hatred among ourselves and lack of cooperation in Igboland. Our inability to strategize in national politics has caused us a lot. Our inability to diversify, that means putting our egg in one basket in national politics has made us look like haters of other tribes. This is not time for chest beating but a time for deep reflection. It is time to look into our national political strategics.
With deep shock again i received another wonderful approval news of # 123billion for the ibadan to Kaduna rail line. My first shock is the non inclusion of southeast in recently approved borrowing plan by federal government.
Southeast now, is lacking behind in infrastructural development. Our governors are steadily looting with no regard to no one. We are not even talking about it because it seems like we derive joy in talking and condemning the happenings in other region.
As this present administration focuses their energy on rail reconstruction and rehabilitation, I think it is left for us to make sure we didn't miss out from this wonderful opportunity. Southeast needs three strategic rail line and tracks, which are; "SOUTHEAST - LAGOS" (for commercial purposes which we are known for), "SOUTHEAST to MAIDUGURU" (for food security), "SOUTHEAST to ABUJA" (for administrative purposes). Then, I will highlight the important of rail lines for the southeast; ---- High speed over long distance.: with 572.2km from Enugu to lagos, it will take 9hrs for a journey by road transportation but with current acquired train that we have in the country which has the speed of 150km/hr, it will take us only 4hrs. And with the fastest train out there, which has the speed of 431km/hr, it will only take us 1hr: 30min to reach Lagos. As a business focused tribe, time is very important. ----Rail line can last for 200+ years. Unlike road, rail can last for hundreds of years, Generation to generation with proper maintenance. -----Rail is cheaper than both road and air transport. -----Rail is the safest means of transportation. Note it when I say safest means of transportation, no means of transportation even came close. With rampant road accident, our loved ones dying from the hands of reckless drivers. We should be calling for more safe way of transportation. ----shipping via train is more environmentally friendly; carrying capacity of a railway is not limited. It's capacity is elastic which can easily be increased by adding more wagon. ----it is suitable for carrying bulky and heavy loads.
We can't afford to deprive of our children this benefits because of bad politics. Our children in future will see this people enjoying what meant for all of us and they will definitely ask us questions.
Politics of hatred is the worst politics anybody can play. It chases investors away. It goes along to makes you enemy of the government at the central. Look at Southwest alone, look at the number of investment they are receiving from both foreign and local investors. From dangote refinery, eko Atlantic.....etc. Since dangote started his business, he never thought of investing big in southeast because of obvious reasons. How can he invest when at the slightest provocation, you went on burning dangote trucks and his little investment in the southeast. Even our very own people are investing outside our region citing witch-hunt from their people. What I understand from Nigeria at this present time is that every tribe is finding solution for their problems. Look at the Northern part of the country, from abolition of almajiri to building of modern first class Ruga settlements in Kano and other northern parts. Their problem now is insecurities and poverty. Ask an average Igbo man the problem of his region, he will tell you that northerners are the only problem they have. As things are going, one day they will give us this Biafra some people wanted so badly when they achieve their aim. Look at how they are connecting regions with railways and look at the map. You can see they are purposely sidelining southeast out of Nigeria. *Delta-Abeokuta-Itekpe (completed) *Abuja-kaduna (completed) *Abuja light rail (completed) *Lagos-kaduna (completed) *Lagos-ibadan (about to be completed) *Abuja-kano (money approved) *Lagos-calaber (money approved) *Ibadan-kano (money approved). They have already connected others region and for those that think south-shouth will be part of Biafra, I hope you can see the plan now.
If we do not play the right politics now, envy for other tribe will only massively increase. Yes, it is just so natural especially when you see your mate or competitors leaving you behind. This happens to every individual irrespective of who you are or whom you intend to be. That you can control it doesn't mean it does not happen to you. And this envy and hatred has the potential to transmit to generations. Look at our road, health care system, UNIVERSITIES, markets and tell me you are not feeling anything. Tell me you happy at this present condition. Never try to divert the blame because it can only make it worst. The blame is on ourselves. No region can do without the government at the central. You must be living in on planet 'lost' How do you think Dangote became the richest man in Nigeria? By hardwork alone? No, he became what he is because of the undue advantage his fellow Northerners gave him in the 70's, 80's and much of the 90's when the North held sway under military rule You are talking about insecurity and politics of hatred? Fulani herdsmen have been killing thousands Nigerians every year in the last couple of years, but a Fulani man is president of Nigeria Northern elements like Boko haram, Fulani herdsmen and various armed bandits are armed and killing Nigerians daily but a Northerner is in power. And you are talking about politics of hatred from a South East that has no single armed group killing anyone? What can be worst than killing people? You are talking about national politics while the region that has produced boko haram, herdsmen and the most number of armed bandits are the one's who are in charge? But in your own reasoning, the SE is the problem. How can anyone be this stupid? |

Politics › North Was About To Secede From Nigeria But Were Reminded Of The Oil In The East by kingzizzy(op): 11:33am On Jun 12, 2020 |
Do you know that the Northern Region of Nigeria was about to secede and declare Arewa Republic on the 1st of August 1966 when they were reminded of the vast Oil wealth in the Eastern Region? They then changed tune and decided to go for one united Nigeria as long as Nigeria was under their control.
On July 29th 1966, Lt Col Murtala Mohammed led young Northern military officers such as Lt Sani Abacha, Lt Ibrahim Babangida, Lt Muhammadu Buhari, Lt Garba Duba, Lt Jeremiah Useni and many others to stage a coup. The aim of the coup was to achieve two objectives. First was to avenge the previous coup that had been dubbed an "Igbo coup". The second objective was for the North to secede from Nigeria. The code name for this coup was "operation araba"(operation seperate)
Having staged the coup and murdered over 300 Igbo officers including the head of state, General Ironsi, Murtala Mohammed and his fellow coup plotters felt that the first objective had been achieved. Now they moved to secede the North out of Nigeria. On the 30th of July, Murtala Mohammed and the ring leaders of the coup took over Ikeja baraks and made it their operational base. They hoisted a strange looking flag at the main entrance to the baracks which they said would be the flag of the Republic of Northern Nigeria. They took over Lagos Airport and were putting finishing touches to flying themselves and their families out of Lagos to Kaduna where they would be met by the Military Governor of the Northern Region, Lt Colonel Katsina. They would then declare Arewa Republic on the 1st of August 1966.
The Chief of General Staff, Brigadier Ogundipe, sent Lt Col Gowon, who was at the time the Chief Of Army Staff and the most senior officer from the North, to mediate with the coup plotters in Ikeja Barak. Murtala Mohammed flatly rejected any form of mediation and informed Gowon that he had been in touch with all the traditional rulers and stakeholders in the North and they had all unanimously agreed that the North should pull out of the Nigerian Federation. Gowon reported back to Ogundipe. Ogundipe sent Gowon back to Ikeja Baraks a second time to convince the coup plotters to drop their secessionist plans and bring their grievances to the table. This time around, Murtala Mohammed lost his patience with Gowon and had him detained. He told Gowon that that he be would be flying with them to Kaduna where he would join them to declare secession of the North, and that all that remained was to inform the British authorities of what was about to happen.
The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Sir David Hunt, was contacted on the phone and made aware of the plans of the North to secede, he protested vehemently against it. He told Murtala Mohammed and his fellow coupists that the North could not survive without the South because the economic base of Nigeria was in the South. The coup plotters were still insistent on the North seceding stating that the agricultural potential of the North was enough to sustain it. Sir David Hunt then revealed to the coup plotters that with the huge deposits of Oil and gas in the Eastern Region and the projected rise in Oil prices, the Eastern Region was about to reap huge profits that would far outweigh the agricultural production of the North. He told them that if they seceded now, they would be denying the North a good slice of those oil profits. He suggested to them that rather than secede, they should take over Nigeria.
On realising the Oil fortune they were about to deny themselves, the tune changed to "one Nigeria". Gowon, who was the highest ranking Northerner, was chosen to become Head of State. Rather than declare Arewa Republic on August 1st 1966, Gowon was sworn in instead. Gowon would go on to act the script of the North by removing resource control, placing Oil production in the hands of the federal government, abolishing the Regions and giving the North the most states and local governments, to ensure that the North benefited most from the Oil money. |

Every time you will see people here who say that Ojukwu ran away from war like a coward. I have come to believe that most of the people who say this are Yorubas. So I want to use this opportunity to remind Yorubas that while you say that Ojukwu ran away, your own leaders did the same. Here are three well known Yoruba leaders who ran out of Nigeria when they felt threatened.
Brigadier Ogundipe:- He was Chief of General Staff to General Ironsi and second in command in the administration. He became the highest ranking officer of the Nigerian Army when Ironsi was murdered. He should have been sworn in as next head of state. But he jumped into a ship and ran away to Cotonou, from where he made his way to London
Olusegun Obasanjo:- During the second coup of 1966, Major Obasanjo promptly abandoned his command, jumped into the booth of a car and was smuggled to Maiduguri from where he crossed the border and ran out of the country. He did not return until the dust settled
Bola Tinubu:- In the mid 1990's as General Abacha cracked down on pro-June 12th agitators, Bola Tinubu suddenly disappeared into thin air and resurfaced in London. He did not return to Nigeria until Abacha died to aspire to become Lagos State Governor. |

MinorityOpinion: 1945 - 1950 - The "Jos" riots occurred in the north which were minor riots in protest of the northern amalgamation with the southern regions. When oil was discovered in the Ibo dominated eastern region, the Emirs of Zaria and Katsina demanded fifty percent of the seats in the newly formed Central Legislature. The Emirs threatened to secede from Nigeria if their demands were not met. The acceptance of these demands signaled the beginning of northern domination of Nigerian national politics.
1953 - Anti-Ibo riots broke out in the north in protest of Ibo domination of social, political, business and military institutions. Ibos were hunted down and attacked in Kano, 245 were injured and more than 52 were killed. The southern Yoruba did not participate in the fighting.
They are riots, that's doesn't give you right to kill all their top leaders. What did akintola do? He killed your fathers too?
The reason for riots is what is happening in Nigeria, Igbos started tribalism war in Nigeria, they will weren't satisfied till they created their greatest undoing In other words, its ok to kill Igbos in 1945 and 1953 but very bad for Igbos to kill back in 1966? The reasoning of a biased mind |
