Nebuchadnezar:
you have a valid point.

i only fear Anambra falling to apc which spells doom for Anambarians
Im an Anambra man, APC is non existent in Anambra. The recent rally by APC in my local Govt was laughable, less than 20 people attended. The only way APC can win in Anambra is if they use federal might, which is a possibility.
PoliticsRe: Lawyers: Can The UN Force A Referendum On Nigeria? by kingzizzy: 9:51am On Mar 30, 2017
oyatz:
Niger Deltans have severally warn you against including them in your proposed Biafra.
Is this topic about Biafra? It is about referendum.

When it comes to secession, you have to call the people by their real names. Niger Deltans is a colonial name. Lugard did not meet anyone called 'Niger Deltans' when he came to west Africa, so how did this name come about?

Niger Delta is just another colonial name.

Just Ijaws are enough to do their own referendum and become a separate nation. If they do this, you will go and hold them and say you are Niger Delta?

Coming back to topic. Since Nigeria is an illegal colonial fraud of a creation, referendum is the only way out.

While some might say that the constitution does not support referendum, of what use is the constitution if the very country it is written for is both illegal and fraudulent?

A referendum in the case of Nigeria is the only wzy to decolonise those that Lugard forced together at gunpoint.
PoliticsRe: Opinion: Concerning Biafra And The Igbo Agitation For Secession by kingzizzy: 11:39pm On Mar 29, 2017
fratermathy:
When you say "Nigerians" and "Biafrans", who and who are you referring to.

All the people from minority groups I know either see themselves as Nigerians or see Nigeria as a failed project. Many want another nation but none ever considered Biafra as an alternative. You cannot leave one Nigeria and enter into a smaller one in the name of resource control.

As an Urhobo, which I speak primarily for, the Nigerian consciousness is very high. We see ourselves as nothing but Nigerians. We would die for Nigeria. All Urhobos know this. Never will you see an Urhobo speak in favour of secession and even the few that may do so have no sympathy with Biafra. United States of Urhobo is what they are projecting. While that seems to be at the infancy and possibly far from being birthed as a movement, Nigeria remains what we identify with.

We will have our resource control one day. We are not in an imprisonment. We have made our grievances known and we will assert ourselves more. The Igbo cause and plight are NOT the same with that of the minorities. Each with his own burden. Each should fight each's problems by themselves.
Well if all you are saying is true then referendun is the perfect way to allow the Urohbo nation carry on with 'one Nigeria' while allowing those who are tired of 'one Nigeria' to go. It is a win win situation for everybody.

Referendum is not new in in Nigeria. In 1961, Nigeria and Cameroon were laying claim to British Cameroons, which was part of Nigeria. To end the matter once and for all, a referendum was held. Northern British Cameroon voted to join Nigeria and is now part of present day Adamawa, while the South British Cameroon voted to join Republic of Cameroon. Everybody went their way and there was peace.

It is actually a very bad thing for the Urohbo nation to be in Biafra if they are pro Nigeria. Biafra should be strictly for those who are tired of Nigeria and want to try something new. We do not need people who will drag us back to how things are done in Nigeria. A referendum will weed out the Nigerians in our mist and allow the real Biafrans will emerge. The rest can then carry on with 'one Nigeria' while the rest of us Biafrans can begin the urgent task of nation building.

Bigdigpussylova:
why are u guys fighting over nothing? I would prefer to see a constructive and robust discussion on the need to restructure the country. i am an indigenous Biafran and a citizen of Nigeria. i want to see this country restructured as a confederation. every section of the country should develop itself and contribute to the national purse. the confederation should legislate on defence, foreign policies, immigration, aviation and space technology, marine and oceanology and few other sectors. the federating state could take charge of every other sectors like; education, agriculture, mining and commerce etc .

my humble opinion though. May God bless Ndi Biafra. God bless federal Republic of Nigeria.
Confederation, while a good thing, is never going to happen in Nigeria.

Confederation failed at Aburi, it failed at the 1998 constitutional conference and it failed at the 2014 conference. The truth is that the North will never allow confederation, which is just an extreme form of Regionalism. The North holds more than enough voting power to stop any move towards confederation or true federation at the national assembly.

There is no group in the SW/SE/SS that does not want true federalism and resource control.

All the ethnic groups in the so called 'SS' from Urohbo, Ibibio, Itsekiri, Ogoni are all clamouring for control of their resources. But the truth is that it will never happen in Nigeria which is why they turn to militancy. After a while of doing militancy, the militant leaders are bought off with billions/amnesty and the militancy dies away until the money run low and it starts again.

So in essence, anyone who has not started thinking about leaving Nigeria is someone who is not serious about resource control or true federalism.

When is comes to the issue of Biafra, just like Nigeria, the colonial masters once drew a map of what they want Nigeria to be. They then embarked on a military conquest of of the indigenous people and forced all of them together into their Nigerian colonial dream.

The difference with Biafra is that while the agitators have also drawn their own map of Biafra, which includes Delta state, nobody is about to go on any conquest or force anyone into any false union. Biafra at this time remains a proposal which the indigenous people must first validate. Biafra is Biafra and Nigeria is Nigeria. We need a referendum to separate the two.

The reason why this referendum should be even more important to all the minorities of Southern Nigeria is that they have never had the opportunity to officially say what or who they are, Nigerian or something else. The colonial masters did that for us all. So a referendum is not just about Biafra, it is also a golden opportunity for all those who love Nigeria to express their love with their vote.

How can someone say they dont want Biafra but when offered a refendum to make this official, they say they dont want that?

Its a bit like saying you dont want to listen to music but when given the Radio, you say dont want to turn it off.

A referendum should be conducted so that the Nigerians and Biafrans can be separated and everyone goes their way.
PoliticsRe: Anambra 2017/2018 : Why APGA Must Win By All Means by kingzizzy:
As much as I think Obiano will win, there are two or three problems he faces.

1) Will APC use federal might to rig him out? Its no secret that APC bigwigs like Rochas Okorocha and Chris Ngige have vowed to deliver Anambra to APC by hook or crook.

2) IPOB wants Obiano's head. Obiano caused himself unnecessary enemies with IPOB when he should have shown strenght of character by calling out the shooting of unarmed people same as current president of Ohaneze is doing. Instead, Obiano remained docile and even made things worse when he chose to visit a mosque in Onitsha when his people where dead in mortuaries and lying with bullet wounds in hospital. IPOB doesnt get involved in Nigerian politics so that might save Obiano. If IPOB use their popularity against Obiano, he could be a gonner.

3) The number of intimidating aspirants who want to be Governor of Anambra. After the Presidency of Nigeria, the most sort after political position in Nigeria is the Governoship of Anambra. That state is something else.

Im actually surprised that Yorubas did anything in Ile-Ife. Who would have known that they coulud rise up against the Northerners?

Considering that Fajuyi and MKO were both abducted and slaughtered by Northerners and they did nothing.

I still find it hard to believe they did anything.

Im very happy that me and most of my fellow Igbos did not vote for the gworo chewing cattle rearer. We knew he was going to be a disaster just as he was during his first stint in Government House. He lived up to his reputation as a clueless dullllard.

But the worst is yet to come. Some people think that Buharis administeration is a disappointment, just wait for his second term. Nobody works during their second term, there is nothing to work for, they are not coming back. So if Buhari's first term is a disaster, his second term will be a Tsunami.

And as we all know, the entire North and their Yoruba friends will all queue up once again to re-elect the cattle rearer back just like they did in 2015

Police action? The Nigerian Army was shelling Ogoja and Nsukka long before Ojukwu invaded the mid west, and you are calling that 'police action' because thats what Gowon called it. What kind of Police uses morter shells? Police action was nothing but a declaration of war by Gowon.

Of the 3 main ethnic groups, when one hears that Yorubas would like to secede along with its nearby minorities as Oduduwa Republic, nobody would care.

If one heard thst Hausa/Fulanis want to leave Nigeria with the minorities of the North, no one would care.

But as soon as Igbos say they are leaving with the minorities as Biafra, everyone starts shouting

The North will shock Everybody. They were once an independent region, they can do it again.

Meanwhile, Ekwueme was the brain behind the creation of geo-political zones.

OJukwu the brain behind the civil war.

Nnamdi Azikiwe the brain behind the Indissoluble Union.

Dr. Okadigbo the brain behind irregular allocation of resources 1979.

They are the bane of their Misfortune.

There is one I disagree with. Ojukwu was not the brains behind the war, that was 100% Gowons fault

PoliticsRe: Is Nigeria One Nigeria Or Nigeria Is Trying To Be One Nigeria? by kingzizzy: 11:37am On Mar 28, 2017
Nigeria is still what Lord Lugard who created it made it to be, a forced union of people. Nigeria has never been one. If we remember, several tribes fought so as not to be included in Nigeria. Ijaws fought Lugard in the Akasa/Nembe battle. Igbos fought Lugard in the Arochukwu and Ekumuku wars. The Sokoto Caliphate also fought.

Sadly, all of them eventually fell to the superior firepower of Lord Lugard.

When Ojukwu tried to breakout with his people, the same guns Lugard used where once more employed to make sure everyone stays together "by force".

Nigeria is all about unity by force.

PoliticsRe: Any deltan That Believes In Biafra, is Not A Deltan. by kingzizzy: 8:39pm On Mar 27, 2017
I dont know what the point of this thread is. There is a general consensus amongst Biafran agitators that a referendum must conducted before Biafra is declared. While Nigeria is a 'forced union', it is very important that Biafra must not be. Biafran agitators want a referendum held in the SS/SE and the lower Benue.

This means that any ethnic nationalty, be it Urohbo, Isoko, Itsekiri and all others will have the opportunity to reject or accept Biafra. Infact, the modalities of the referendum can be set in a way so that only areas that vote by a majority to go will be recognised meaning that for example, if Ikwerre Local Govt wants to reject Biafra, all they have to is not bother to vote and it will be tajen as rejection and they can continue as Nigerians.

So what is the problem here? If you do not want Biafra, vote to continue with Nigeria.

Biafra is only for those who are tired of 'one Nigeria', nobody will be forced into it against their will

There are no real benefits to producing the president. May one or two projects might be completed but thats about it.

Producing the president of Nigeria as one Nairalander put it is about getting 'bragging rights' to "I have produced tge president" thats all. There are little or no benefit to producing the president, infact, there is a disadvantage to it. Any zone that produces the president, if things dont go well, all other zones will blame them. Every president of Nigeria has been a hopeless disaster anyway

Of course a lot of good came from it. One of which was that the Hausa/Fulani emirate of Sokoto learnt that it is not everyone one who is ready to bow down to them. They learnt that If pushed to the wall, Igbos and the minorities around them are willing to fight their way out of Nigeria.
