oyinkinola:Nigerian nation? Sorry bro but no such thing exists. A nation is only gotten by free will, not by enforcement? Do you want a Nigerian nation? Support a referendum, those who say no, you count then out of your Nigerian nation. Those who say yes, it is them that is your Nigerian nation |
ozoebuka1:That was a knockout punch |
ElsonMorali:It says a lot about Yorubas that their Governor was slaughtered by outsiders right in Ibadan, Yorubaland, and they dont care anything about this act of sacriledge. How can Northerners go to the Western Region and kill your Governor but you take it lying down? It doesnt matter if Fajuyi was defending Ironsi or not, who is the North to go and kill him? You people simply could not/cannot stand up to the North and Fajuyi's death exposes Yorubas as pacifist people. Is that part of the moonlight tales told to you by your parents?Bro, there is nothing like 'needless war'. Every war is about one side fighting to be free and another side fighting that there will be no freedom. You want know what domination means? Domination is when Northerners can slaughter a Yoruba son and Governor of the Western Region, Lt Col Fajuyi, right in Yoruba land and Yorubas cant do anything Domination when the highest ranking officer after Ironsi, Brigadier Ogundipe is chased out of Lagos, Yoruba land, and a much junior officer called Lt Col Gowon is installed his place. Yet, Yorubas cant do anything. Domination is watching as the Northerner called Gowon is installed as leader right in Lagos and his goes on to abolish the Western Region cut it up and strip you all of whatever powers you had. You people let the Northerners 'steamroll' over you people right in your own land on the excuse of 'we dont want war'. The Yoruba nation of millions was held hostage by a few thousand armed Northerners. Quite shameful. I'm sorely tempted to ask you How old you are, but I won't. I want to keep this as civil as possible.Nielson Mandela was also a Barrister with no military backing or experience just like Awolowo. The difference is that he refused to allow white apartheid rulers 'steamroll' over him and his people in their ancestral land same as Awolowo was quite willing to let the Northers do in Yorubaland. Nobody is saying that Awolowo should have picked up a rifle, but he could have stood up to the excesses of the North in Yoruba land by refusing any appointment, denouncing Gowon and Northern goons and making a proclaimation urging the Yoruba nation to sieze control of their lands. But he couldnt, he was content to become a second fiddle in 'Northern dominated Nigeria'. He kept Yorubas out of war but at what cost? You people dont even control your economic or political life to this day. How can it be suicide bid for one to fight for their freedom and sovereignty? You guys simply imbibed this sense of defeatism and accepted that you can never win against the North. This is what cowards do. To control their lands? You dont control your lands. The day you control the resources in your lands and your future is no longer decided in Abuja, Northern Nigeria, but somewhere in Yoruba land, then you will know you are in control. Like I said, it was a coup. Adekunle Fajuyi died a honorable death. You want to cry on our behalf? Please go right ahead.FA Fajuyi was murdered, I have to cry because his people cared less about his death than they did about pacifying the North that killed him And the Igbo nation that thought it was strong and could take on the Nigerian army lost 3million souls and If not for Awolowo's timely intervention, they'd probably have been wiped out of existence If the war had lingered longer. Ofcourse Ojukwu didn't feel the effects of the war, neither did his family, nor the family of the elite. Check war pictures to verify.Ojukwu led his people in a war of freedom. Unlike Awolowo, he was not going to lead his people into Northern slavery to avoid confrontation. Ojukwu refused to go down without a fight. He refused to bow to Northern domination. Yes his people lost millions but that is the price of trying to be free. It cost the allies almost 50 million lives to free Europe from NAZI domination in the second world war. It has cost Syria close to half a million lives trying to remove the domination of Assad It cost hundreds of lives to bring down white minority rule in south Africa. Freedom is not cheap. Ojukwu and his people were willing to pay that price, and even though they failed, no one can say that striving for freedom isnt noble. Accepting slavery is for the weak. Quite frankly, you're the only ones enslaved in this country. Please dont make me laugh. How are Yorubas going to secede if they want to? By talking? Secession is for those who can back up words with action, it is for those who can fight. Yorubas are the only ones in the south of Nigeria who have never taken up arms against the Government, so how are you people going secede? You havent even managed to get resource control and you are seceding? If secession ever becomes possible by shouting, then maybe Yorubas have a chance. |
Whenever you see someone say "Nigeria must remain one!", just ask them why. What is so hard to understand when a group of people say they want to be on their own? People talk as if Nigeria was created by divine intervention, it was not. Nigeria is the creation of European businessmen. There was a time we were not together. What has now changed that it is 'unity or death'? Because Lugard came to Africa? Just yesterday, Scotland announced that it will be holding a referendum on independence in 2019. The same Scotland had a referendum in 2014 despite being part of Britain for over 300 years. The Hausa/Igbo/Yoruba man have just been together roughly 100 years but some people are shouting "we must be together forever" Why do you want to be with someone forever? Are they your Siamese twin? Are they your property? These people that are fighting and ready to go to war to be with other people, have they no shame? If you must be with people who dont want you, it is time to ask your self why. Freedom and self determination is the right of everyone no matter what |
ElsonMorali:So, in other words, after the killing of Fajuyi and the disgrace of Ogundipe by the Northerners Awolowo said "These Northerners are just too much for me and my people. The best thing is to join them so that they wont kill us" Awolowo readily accepted Northern domination. How can Awolowo as a man look himself in the mirror knowing that a 'small boy' like Gowon was running things in Lagos simply because he is a Northerner when it should have been Brigadier Ogundipe in charge? This has nothing to do with Ojukwu. Yorubas dont need Ojukwu to know that they should fight to control their own lands. Or do they? But right in their land, their Governor was slaughtered like Sallah Ram, their most senior officer who should have been head of state was chased away like a common thief. And all Awolowo and the Yoruba nation could do was caputilate by surrendering and saying The Northerners will kill us" People have to learn to fight for their own sovereignty and freedom |
Of all the people to honour on the currency, it had to be that genocidal killer and war criminal called Murtala Mohammed. Murtala Mohammed killed over 300 Eastern Nigeria Soldiers in the counter coup he led. He then went further to cement his place in history as a calculating cold blooded killer when he led his forces into Asaba and massacred nearly 1000 civilians. To put such an evil man alongside noble men like Herbert Macaulay, Tafawa Balewa, Zik is an insult. |
ElsonMorali:Awolowo fought for his Nothern masters simply because he did not have the guts to fight for himself. |
tunderay:That time has past. Nobody cares about ministers and Governors or a few 'big' men. When it comes to freedom, there is no big or small. What is on the table now is referendum let everyone decide |
farouk0403:Lawmakers? Which Lawmakers created Nigeria? |
tunderay:Tbey did in 1967 and went home to create Biafra, still Nigeria did not take then serious and came to fight to bring them back |
farouk0403:What exactly did Awolowo do? The same Awolowo wached as the Governor of the Western Region, FA Fajuyi, was abducted and slaughtered right in Yorubaland. Did he do anything? No. When Ogundipe who should have been the next president was chased out of Yoruba land to London, what did Awolowo do? Nothing The only thing Awolowo could do was lead his people into political slavery in the hands of the Nortern masters simply because he didnt have the spine to rise up and fight for the sovereignty of his people like Ojukwu was prepared to do for his own people Overnight, Awolowo went from respected stateman to saluting Gowon who was young enough to be his son. If Awolowo could not teach his people anything about self determination then he accomplished nothing. |
An Ikwerre man, Uche Okwukwu, is the Secretary General of Ohaneze. |
farouk0403:And of what benefit have those political leaders been to the suffering masses? This is a movement of the people, not useless political leaders. You should be more concerned with why you cant be on your own |
seunmsg:APC will take over because less than 5 irrelevant politicians defected to it? I laugh. Igbos will have nothing to do with APC |
I read the whole thing and Im shocked! Is the man really a Yoruba man? I never believed I would hear a Yoruba man say What happened in 1967 to 1970 was that foolishly, the Yoruba and other Minorities and in the so-called Nigerian Army, which is actually a Fulani-controlled army, allowed themselves to be used to further attack people who have been seriously subjected to a pogrom. That a Yoruba man can admit that the Yoruba nation should never have aided the Nigerian 'Fulani controlled' Army to fight Igbos. That this was foolish. The man absolutely dissects what is wrong with Nigeria and why Nigeria will never move ahead. |
Governor Fayose, who maintained that Obasanjo’s accusing anyone of corruption was like “Oyenusi accusing Shina Rambo of armed robbery”,Lol I wont lie, Obasunjo ran a highly corrupt regime. |
seunmsg:When you see Gowon, ask him two questions Why did he break the Aburi agreement that caused Ojukwu to declare Biafra? And Military action is usuallly last resort. What other actions did Gowon take to avoid war and save the lives of his fellow country men before he chose Military action? |
coolitempa:Nobody is worshipping anybody. What we are worshipping is self determination. |
illuminated93:You are one confused guy. Why would Igbos or whatever you call South East, be organising a 4 million man march? Did anyone tell you that Kanu is pursuing an Igbo or South East agenda? Kanu is pursuing a Biafran agenda. Kalu is where he is as freedom fighter. All freedom fighters like Mandela and co went through the same process. If anything happens to Kanu, such as he suddenly dies, I have no doubt in my mind that IPOB will turn to militancy. The days of peaceful protest will be a thing of the past. The Nigerian Army will then be called him and if there is one thing I know about the Nigerian Army, they have never deafeted militancy without outside help. Nnamdi Kanus freedom is not the most important thing to Nnamdi Kanu. If it was, Nnamdi Kanu would never have left London |
As an Igbo man, I have no sympathy for Yorubas when they get massacred by Hausa-Fulani. Yorubas said they want 'one Nigeria' along with Hausa-Fulani. Since Yorubas want unity with people well known for routinely massacaring their host community, it means that Yorubas are comfortable being masasacred. Ojukwu was not comfortable with his people being massacred and decided against 'one Nigeria' Most Yorubas still think Ojukwu was a fool for this. Yorubas must learn to talk the tallk and walk the walk. You want 'one Nigeria'? Learn to live with the massacres that go with it! |
loopman:I wish Gowon had felt the same way, it would have saved an unnecessary war, saved countless lives to keep a disunited British invention called Nigeria together. |
loopman:So what is the point of 'one Nigeria'? This one kills this person, another goes and kills another. What is the point being together? Nzeogwu was not acting on the instructions of Igbos when he organised his coup. |
blessme2019:What is your point exactly? That countries should honour killers on their local currency? |
blessme2019:What are you talking about? Are you not aware that men under Murtala Mohammeds command massacred close to a thousand people in Asaba? Did you expect people to congratulate him for that? |
The Asaba massacre, amongst other reasons, is why it is a national disgrace to have the picture of a genocidal killer like Murtala Mohammed on the national currency |
loopman:I dont know about that but I know which of them fought a war to be independent |
A EU style confederation of two separate countries can work for Yorubas and Igbos, but not for long. Sooner or later, Yorubas will start looking for their precious 'one Nigeria' and invite the Northerners into the mix. Thats when the Igbos will pull out. |
HungerBAD:Another person who is suffering from the colonial syndrome of "Lord Lugard made me a Nigerian and a Nigerian I must be forever" Nice one to IPOB for holding this exibition to highlight the war crimes the Nigerian Government has been trying to hide. These pictures expose Nigeria as the colonial fraud invented by Britain in 1914 These pictures show the bravery of the Biafrans to fight to fight for their freedom, something no one else in Nigeria has the spine to do. Up IPOB! |
If Nigerians didbt see anything wrong with the shooting of unarmed IPOB, they should see nothing wrong in the Army brutalising this woman or anyone else |
I laugh when someone in Abonema will be saying that Igbos are his problem while the Oil well in his village is owned by an Alhaji from Sokoto. |
They showed his Daura House, let them show his multi-million Naira Abuja Mansion. |
