No bomb blast recorded in Benin City too. Let's blame Dokpesi tooHow many miles is Benin to Maiduguri. Naturally when there is a conflict or a conflagration in a place, there is always a spill overs to near by adjoining cities and towns, just like the famine in Somalia is affecting Northern Kenya, Western Ethiopia and Djibouti. How come not one incident of a roughish boko haramist taken advantage of the quietness of Yola by scaring the living day light out of those American lecturers. That is because they do not want any wahala for oga's backyard. oga go vex, knowing his lecturers would take a hike and that would be the end of his Uni. |
The Governor has one the best publicist machinery going, on that note he has surely hit the ground running all those special advisers are sweating for every free kobo they earn. Na so, Governor, let them sweat for the money. ![]() |
Boko Haram is yet to close down any University in Nigeria. they've since stridently denied sending a threatening letter to UNIMAID.The reason why no other institution has being close down anywhere else is because no other city has seen or witness the level of violence perpetuated in Maiduguri. Where people could easily be shot for just eating pepper soup. The Violence is unprecedented. |
The funny thing is there has never been one gun shot recorded in Yola, is somebody not putting one and one together in other to figure out who the perpetuators behind BK are. ![]() |
The driving distance from Yola, Nigeria to Maiduguri, Nigeria is:254 miles / 409 km It surprises me that despite the distance between Yola and Maiduguri being only 254 miles, BK would rather travel all the way to Abuja(525 miles) and bomb it, leaving nearby Yola that has an “ American University” with Americans as lecturers. Surely if you want to hit on anything western, the American lecturers should the first port of call for any Islamist and not far away Abuja. |
Why did the sultan not come out to spew the nonsense he is saying now when Yaradua was at the helms of affairs? Was it not during Yardua’s reign that Yusuf the Boko Haram leader was killed without any uproar from the Northerners or the Sultan himself, why is it now that we have a Southern President that he is coming out. I sense grievances and angry spill over’s from the acrimony that led to GEJ's ascendancy still being played out here. ![]() Please let us not give any un-necessary credence to the Sultan’s unduly elevated position it seems such accolades only make their head swell the more, we have not forgotten that Abacha dethroned a “ Sultan” and nothing happened. Ekiti is hitting above her weight despite her low revenue threshold. Had it being they had gotten the right man in from the on set, the dire and precarious state of her finance today, would not be something talked about. It is no more news that Engineer Segun Oni awarded close to 300 contracts to spurious usurpers and absconders who jumped ship the moment the money cleared in their account whether it was done in cahoot of Mr Oni’s knowledge can be anyone’s guess. Mr Oni paid huge amounts upfront thereby deliberating depleting the scarce resources the state has, but God is good, Ekiti for the umpteenth time as I see it, would surprise so many a state that has a huge revenue base. The gentleman at the helms of affairs today is not only astute in his methodical approach but he is a smart arse and surely knows his onions. I look forward to seen some mouth watering motivational projects unravel during this dispensation, the opportunism and enthusiasm is high and the people would surely not be disappointed. |
They should just hand over the bloody road to Lagos / Ogun / Oyo State who would rebuild it and collect tolls on it. We are talking of internal generated revenue yet we are letting a potential goal mine lie in waste. The FG is overwhelmed with too much load; a donkey that has too much load would kaput. The way forward is for the FG to relinquish herself from most of these mundane responsibilities which the states and even LG can handle if given adequate funds they should transfer them to the state and concentrate on a limited and exclusive list of special projects. |
I think the sultan of Sokoto should keep to Islamic affairs and stop putting his mouth on political or economic affairs. At the last count, if I may recollect the Sultan of Sokoto is still below the Governor of Sokoto State and gets paid a stipend by the State Governor. How Sokoto state got co-joined with Borno State I don’t know, is the Sultan saying he knows more than the Governor of Borno State who happens to be the Chief Security officer of the state or better still the Emir of Maiduguri. Don’t the Sultan know that by removing the military from Maiduguri, the Boko Haramites who are presently restricted to the NE would run amok all over the country, bombing anywhere that catches their fancy, is that what the sultan wants, I am surprise an ex Military man can be calling for such retrogressive strategy, I beg to differ. ![]() At least for now, No Nigerian with a bit of common sense would venture or go near Maiduguri for any business or pleasure, does the Sultan want the whole country to become a pariah place where even Lagos, Ekiti , Bayelsa and many other middle-belt and Southern States would all become a no go area. I think the Sultan should restrict himself to his own domain, he should realise the caliphate system died the day this nation became a republic in October 1st 1960 |

A governor that let his d.i.c.k. Do his bidding by appointing ' a girl friend ' as a special adviser has nothing to offer IMO State. Although he has some clever publicist who would shout hallelujah anytime he goes to d toilet & do a poo an effective & efficient weapon in Governance. On his capacity & ability to gather a huge motley crew of helleluyah boys & praise singers given d short time he has being in government, I give him kudos. But since we now have FOI, I would l seriously like to see how much income " The Chief Commedian would be bringing into d state" bearing in mind he would be costing d state between N250,000 & 300,000.00 a month on salary alone not taking other benefits into account. |
The silly Governor is bleeping that girl, if it looks like a Bleep, smells like a Bleep then it is a Bleep, case close. Madame first lady try your possible best to discharge this rival. |
Thank God we are in a democracy, this bill would fail in the house especially in the lower house. The reps men would collect Joboy's money and still vote against the bill, so he had better be wise not to spend a dime trying to see this bill through. ![]() |
knowall, thank you. Let them loose there immunity first. It is only in nigeria, where over a hundred billion naira, is used to conduct an election. And the over-heated polity and country in general during election periods, is not good for our development as a country.Corruption has to be zero-tolerance if we are to go down this route, an in-coming Governor like Oyo State Governor claiming he has about 7 properties all over the world, each worth over a $1 million dollars would not hold water. Every person who wants to run for office under the new dispensation would have his salary and all revenue accrued to him through out his or her working life scrutinized by the relevant agency including members of the press so that there would be no hanky panky or under table dealings during the scrutiny. On top of that where a President or Governor compromises himself or herself in any dealings above N5 Million Naira he or she would or should be force to resign or be impeached. By compromising himself or herself it would include and take into account all cases of flagrant excessive increment on contracts(this is a particular drain on our resources even moreso than the elections Mr President is crying over), effective contract evaluation can be ascertained and proven by comparing the contract with similar contracts awarded in other climes that are climatically, geologically, environmentally and socially similar to the awardees, this should be the condition, the bedrock and the foot-note of any comparisons. The icing on the cake on any reforms however would have to be capital NO to immunity. A President or Governor should be force to answer questions of his mis-deeds NOW and not after 6 or 7 years when the principle actors who took part in the crime could have died, relocated or abscond. |
Rochas you don come again with your delusive rantings, “ how does the chief comedian of the state” generate his pay” na wa oh !!!, pls sir try another lie this one no go work. ![]() |
I think the battle would shift to primaries if this proposal goes through the house of assembly. The most important election would be the party primaries. |
I would support this bill under one condition, the Governors & d Presidency would lose their immuned status. We don't want a chief executive abusing power arbitrary without d people able to do anything about it. |
I meant a monthly salary of 100,000.00 and not annual, my mistake Tezza. |
Mr poster, As someone has already pointed out that we practise a Presidential System of Goverment which in a lay man's language means the winner takes all. There is no provision for shadow-anything in a Presidential system, e be like say you don tay for UK. |
The bottom line is he has shelved the N20 Million security votes for something he perceive to be worthwhile if pursed and monitored with vigour. Let us assume each of these special assistants, special adviser and committee chairmen/members are getting N100.000.00 ANNUALY obviously some would be getting more and some less, let us use 100,000.00 as a bench mark. If he employs 100 of them it would cost the state N3.2 million Naira a year a paltry some when you look at the alternative which in many and in any case includes outright pocketing of the entire fund by some unscrupulous Governors. As far as Naija is concerned, the security vote of N20 million is the Governors slush fund to spend as he/she deem fits, the Governor is entitled to it by virtue of being the Chief Security Officer of the State, wiser Governors like Fashola use that money smartly and commendably by employing a lot of expert-ease, LIKE Nigerians from diaspora for different task. After 12 months each SA would give an account of their stewardship, what incentives, innovations have they have brought on board and what impact has such activity done to the economy of the state at large and governance in particular, how has it reflected on that holy grail of positive Governance and financial fiduciary ' internal generated revenue' has the internal generated revenue for the state hit the stratosphere, or has it remained dormant. These are some of the measures that should be put in place so that the recipient of the states generosity would know that there are no free lunches. |
What we needs is strong institution, not one-term tenure. It is obvious and guilt is pricking JEG, the way he spent our commonwealth first during the primaries against Atiku and secondly during the election proper, his conscience is haunting him. He knows that money could have done a lot of good things for the Nigerian people but for his selfish ambition. Can you imagine during the PDP convention against Atiku many delegates went home with almost $7,000.00 each where did that money come from. OR better still where did the $50,000.00 bribe- travel fare back to Lagos given to Pastor Bakare came from. ![]() Mr President if a hard-nosed forensic and intensive financial audit were carried out on Nigeria finances since you took over you would Mr President be caught wanton like a rabbit caught by the head lamp of a car, I can gurantee that but who has the audacity to authorise such an exercise. Our institutions needs to be strengthened if this democracy is going to last the long haul. ![]() |
I don’t care if it is 6 months 2 tenure or one year 2 tenure, a two tenure system is good for any society and that includes Nigeria. This one our President is advocating ‘a one term’ tenure of 6 years is not on at all. Its got to be a 2 term or leave the constitution as it is. In fact I love it more in Nigeria because of the inherent fraudulent climate that pervades our society, the Nigeria tenure system tends to hit the balance sheet of incumbent Governors hard. One can only imagine and wonder how much both Ohakim and Akala have lost in their futile bid of running for a second term; these Gentlemen have thrown good money over bad rubbish in other to secure a second term. If anything it has made them poorer and that gives me pleasure and satisfaction. I am happy to see some of these rogues who must have siphoned the living day light out of their respective states give back to society UNFORTUNATELY through the un-canny and clever manipulations of supposedly trusted aides. There is a saying “a fool and his money are soon parted” at least in the quest for these rogues and gluttons in Government chasing a foiled and warped dream of attaining a second term the largesse of their stolen wealth got to be redistributed amongst a horde of other vultures thereby marginally impoverishing Mr Governor. Amongst the cohort of journey-men and usurpers who would promise the incumbent heaven and earth would be a large number of sweet and flowery mouthed 419 men who would carve out a big and huge chunk of those stolen wealth from these greedy men for themselves. Why abandon a system which is finet enough to guarantee a dog eat dog situation is at hand to one that would only guarantee the looter the right to keep his stolen wealth. ![]() No to one single term of 1, 2, 6, 7 or even 10 years it got to be two terms or nothing. ![]() |
Did not see Obahiagbon's Epitaph on Enahoro untill Today, Amazing !!!! Hon.Patrick Obahiagbon on Pa Enahoro Certainly the fall of another titan. Chief Anthony Enahoro's modus vivendi, whilst he peregrinated through this will-o-the-wisp of a three dimensional world, resonated with a divine halo of an iconic personage who was propelled by the PIRKEAVOTHIAN apothegm which urges man to realize "that the day is short and the work is great, " No wonder that from a very young age, he engaged in self abnegation and mortification of the flesh in a spartan, clinical and cerebral bid to salvage the Nigerian project even at the expense of his health infrastructure. He ceaselessly fulminated against vagabonds in power whose primus mobile had philistinic anchorage on a depreciably mindless crave for vacuous hedonism and ingratiating political megalomania. He must have been viscerally pained to note while he was at the departure lounge, that the ship of the Nigerian State was still nosediving and sliding into an eschewable oxbow lake and cataract and he must finally have wondered if the zoning debate currently going on is not another egregious insult by our elitist political class on the pauperized, sissfied and ossified sensibilities and sensitivities of our lumpen proletariat. The only way we can honour this great man who gave his all for Nigeria is for all progressive forces to extricate themselves from the arms of morpheus, with a view to continously dymistify, explode and pulverize the machivellian, mephistophelian, primitively accumulative and rabidly sybaritic propensities of our political class be it at the level of executive suzerainty or parliamentary olympian aloofness. Adieu Pa Anthony Enahoro!! |
The Soldiers should only withdraw to the borders of Nigerian- Chad/Niger and Cameroon while some should be 30 to 40 miles out of Maiduguri forming a huge centric barrier around Maiduguri otherwise a withdrawal without properly thinking of the implication would be foolhardy and silly. Perhaps Boko Haram needs respite to re-arm after exhausting their arsenal of death. ![]() |
My overall point is that the phrase "ode chukwu" cannot be blasphemous, simply because chukwu does not mean god in yoruba. That it means "god" in Igbo is cute and interesting, but not really relevant.Unfortunately the word ‘ode chuckwu’ means ‘dumb god’ and if you want to continue wallowing in your ignorance you are more than welcome, after all it is a free world. |
Again, chukwu doesn't mean "god" in Yoruba. That the Igbo man calls his god chukwu is fine and dandy, but also irrelevant. You are knowingly applying the wisdom God gave u wrongly. On one hand you want us to belive that 'g-o-d' in your statment actually means "god" but you have forgotten that it might mean something else in some other language in the far corners of the world but "chuckwu" which all Nigerians including your humble self, knows is 'god' should be something else(more like someone denying the holocause ever happened). ![]() "CHUCKWU" is not a slang in Yoruba and has never and would never be a derogatory slang in Yoruba, if you want to practise your inherent athiest 'streak' having a 'pot-shot' at God, you are welcome but stop glossy it up with the wrong argument. ![]() |
it is a blasphemous word. so people be careful who you are making fun off. You Might be sinning against the almighty God. Anyone that sin's against the holy spirit would not be forgiven |
Blaming the government for the ongoing Eko Atlantic project, the PDP claimed that the unnecessary sand filling of lagoons, seas and the ocean by the state government also raised the water level of the ocean.Banana Island sand filling and Tinubu's Hotel are the culprits, they have really raised the water levels of the Lagoon. It is like pouring sand into a water that is cocooned, what happens, the water level rises and of course the heavy rain does not help matters too. The Lagoon is probably taking more water in than letting more water out into the sea. Recipee for disaster, the outlet to the sea must be widened or something. However I don't think Eko Atlantic project has any effect to what is happening. |
of what use is the minimun wage if it is true the dollar is exchanging for N166 to $1.00. It would mean the new minimum wage has already lost 10% of its value if anything else. ![]() |
Excellent ! My brother we dont have real generals anymore. Just teddyboys and politicians. I can imagine if abacha was COAS now. I tell you the first step should be to close the border, send in about 20,000 troops and lock Borno down. Comb the place continuously and do a house to house search if necessary. We have forgotten what prinary role the Army should be playing in our society. We have become accustomed to seeing our Soldiers behaving in a braggadocio way in our Towns and Cities, by not paying fares and driving on the wrong side of the road if they are not killing and shooting Policemen. Now we have a war in our hands what are all those Soldiers doing in Bonny Camp, Ikeja Cantonment, Ojo Barracks and all those in the 2nd Mechanised division in Ibadan. Those lazy mofo’s should be heading North not terrorizing ‘civilians’ and ‘lastma’. |
