I dont think Ribadu is a fraud.

We all know that you would have to be Christ Like for you not to be influneced by the Oligarch fraudster that runs the enterprise called Nigeria, In fact I was quite impress with the Ibori bribe scandal that came to light only recently but to say he will not enrich himself whilst in office even to the tune of a conservative amount of N250 million Naira or a million pounds will be had to believe or fathom. If he were that clean then I see know reson why he dosent go home and declare the true state of his assets. undecided

Could these article have spurned Ribada to take this dare devil trip to Nigeria. Knowing that his continue absence in the front pages of newspapers and internet forums could reduce his popularity especially amongst our younger generation into an insignificance nonentity which if care is not taking might affect any political aspiartion or relevance he might have in the future of the Nigeria nation. undecided
Politics › Re: Police, SSS, Immigration Hunt Ribadu Over 'False Asset Declaration' by KnowAll(m): 2:15pm On Sep 13, 2009
Of course the goverment knew when he came into the country, the only problem was there was no formal warrant of arrest from either the EFCC, the Nigerian Police force which he was dismissed from in which he has taking the case to the courts to seek redress this is a civil matter not an arrestable offence. There was no formal warrant of arrest from the SSS or the Presidency for subversive utterances and behaviour, hence why he was not arrested.

Now the ICPC, EFCC, and the AG  has declared him wanted for not declaring his assets and for subsversive utterances towards the Yardua Goverment. What it simply means is that next time he strolls into Nigeria he would be picked up. Basically they are warning him to stay from Nigeria if he loves himself.
Politics › Politicians Should Change Tack And Invest In Nigeria by KnowAll(op): 1:32pm On Sep 13, 2009
How long does our thieving Politian’s want to hide or run away from their own shadows, don’t they know or realise where they run to their shadows is bound to go with them. The fact that they have drained their various state coffers bone dry is no more news and we should actually move on from what is an establish fact to the next level on the agenda.

The fact is politicians have never thaught or fathom about what they plan to do at the next agenda of the corruption cycle that is after securing the loot, they have spent too many man hours covering tracks or shutting various basket mouths from spilling the beans of what actually transpired in their regimes.

it would appear that 95% of them spent their entire life time at this stage of the corruption cycle in as such that before they finally achieve any semblance of normality in their lives they have forgotten the number of the accounts and the destination of where the stolen money was channelled through and lodged.  The middle men who help these corrupt politician to perpetuate their greedy and evil deeds cannot be traced so are the so many hangers on who seem to have promised the politicians when he was in power that all is well, reassuring the looting politician.

I keep wondering and asking myself are all these allegation of theft and embezzlement in the various levels of government are they just a figment of our imagination, a mass hypnosis and hysteria by the whole Nigeria populace which has tainted our value judgment as human beings. Surely there should be some prove of the ill-gotten wealth for all to see, where are the yachts, not too many of them in our Marinas, where are the powerful cars not every other 1 in 20 cars even in the choicest part of Ikoyi , VI or Maitama is a Bentley, a rolls Royce, or even top spec Range Rovers. So where is the ill gotten wealth. Even in upper middle class areas in London one in every 20 has to be a top of the range type.

When I discussed my anxiety with friends  about the figures banded about in our press of stolen wealth at the last count which is estimated to be around $220 billion dollars during the OBJ years and yet the infrastructure in the country is more or less  nonexistent or permissible for an oil producing Nation.

One begins to wonder how come in a Country like Nigeria where one is able to set up a bogus company within 24 hour period,  Politicians are not taking advantage or sending masked private equity as filtered funds from western donors and investors. Surely one would expect our corrupt politicians to use these loop hole as a safety net to transfer their ill gotten wealth into the country in other to take advantage of the vast market that a nation of 145 million would readily offer.

What stops a politician sitting in the background and fronting a fast rail road from Lagos to Ibadan,  Kaduna to Abuja, or  Enugu to Port Harcourt distances of between 120km to 180km

Such projects will not only be a laudable feat, it would also create enough employment, and all proceeds from such joint ventures still ends up with the corrupt Politian’s who would not be caused for stealing our common wealth but would be prayed and showered with encomiums for providing employment for the people.  He would seem to have redeemed himself and payed back his dues to society albeit through the back door .

Of what use is the money serving those corrupt politicians who would rather leave the ill gotten wealth in a Swiss bank account which if care is not taking the cold hands of death might strike and all information with regards to the existence of such account would be lost forever. It would not only be a personal loss to the politicians natural family it would also be a loss to the nation for ever, for the Politician’s stubbornness, fear of the unknown probably fear of his own shadow and the lack of vision and foresight to contribute meaningfully back to the society he has plundered from thereby creating a dark, gloomy and unenviable condition resulting in a terrible and regrettable loss-loss situation.  cry

My conclusion would be that the reasons why there is no meaningful investment by looting Politicians is majority never get to the planning stage after getting the loot, they get bogged down at the settling and covering tracks stage nothing could be far from the truth than the recent revelation by Ribadu about how  James Ibori bribed him with a mouth watering $15 million dollars in other to safe his neck.
Politics › Re: Soludo And His Anambra Governorship Aspiration! by KnowAll(m): 10:15am On Sep 13, 2009
Said it somewhere before Fashola Vs Soludo 2015

The Governorship post and probably a ministorial role after his tenure as a Governor would be the highest position Soludo would ever be able to attain in Nigeria today not with his terrible stewardship as a CBN Governor. The exposure of incompetence and gross disregard to core Banking rules and regulation as a CBN Governor is a damage too unredeemable that any thought of such an individual thinking of running for the Presidency would be viewed and looked upon as a clownish and jocular proposition.

The only saving grace for Soludo, is for him to really punch above his weights as a serving State Governor, that is to surpass the acheivements of fashola's not by 2 folds but by a 100 folds in fact nothing short of turning Anambra State into an eldorado would be acceptable.

Already Anambra State has the largest open Market in West Africa - Onitsha Market, how to turn that market into a money spinner that would translate to economic growth for all sectors of the state is one of the many puzzles that Soludo would have to contend with. If he can manoeuvrer successful his stewardship as a state executive then he can argue with some conviction that go and see what we did at Anambra state. This is his last litmus test.

after destroying Nigeria Banking system, Jeez

Next time, try and come across as a literate fellow instead of promoting silly inuendos

The Governorship of the CBN is slightly different from being a Governor of a state. Whilst that of the CBN is subject to good working relationship with Mr. President, as in Sanusi's Banking crackdown with a Presidential blessing, that of a State has no authority or Office that he/she is accountable to, of course least I forget the Governor of a State is accountable to the State House of Assembly which in theory is of good intention but in pratice such authority or accountability is non existant.

It really will be interesting to judge Soludo as a proper executive as suppose to pseudo-executive with no undue interference from the Presidency or other equally strong forces affecting his own personal thaughts and Ideas as to how he intends to move Anambra forward.

Politics › Re: CNN Ridicules Governor Sylva by KnowAll(m): 11:54am On Sep 11, 2009
Even the romans did not build an isolated coliseum inside wilderness. Why should we build one inside bush

Wahington was more or less a wilderness when the White House was built in the early 1700’s, so your point has no validity.

The CNN should go out and look for the descendants of those slaves that built the White House so that due compensation can be remitted accordingly. That is what I call Investigative journalism in my book not the crap they were going on about trying to belittle and disrespect an oil rich African leader. The West abhors it if you want to beat them on their game, when the late Hoiephny Boigny of Cote de voire wanted to build a bigger Church than the Our lady’s Bapsitat in Ivory Coast the Vatican City objected.
Politics › Re: CNN Ridicules Governor Sylva by KnowAll(m): 11:08am On Sep 11, 2009
There is nothing wrong in building a majestic, grandiose and elegant building as a Governor’s lodge in an oil rich state as Bayelsa. In fact Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa-Ibom ,Delta and maybe Cross River States should all have majestic buildings as Governors’ lodges if they so desire.

Building the executive mansion is not concurrent expenses it is a capital expenditure and once built, it is there for posterity. True the majority of the populace in Bayelsa State live less than a $1 dollar a day, so does the majority of the citizens of USA when the White House was built, a lot of the labourers where slaves and earning the equivalent of a $1 dollar a day would have being a manna from Heaven for those folks. Nigerian labourers to the contrary are even lucky to be earning a $1 dollar a day, has the descendants of the Southern slaves who built the White House being compensated I doubt. undecided

When a nation is still evolving parity on wages, opportunities and other issues are relegated to the background.
Another important point to note is once the House is built, it will not be build again and again, it would just be a case of maintenance.

200 years from now Bayelsa state might well be the Dubai of Africa, and encomiums and praise would be showered on the founding fathers of the State as irony it may sound that list would include gentlemen or should I say crooks like Alams.

This would have being the best time for someone new and dynamic to mount the rostrum and take charge of events in the state whilst the so called political heavy weights are waging an undeclared war on each other. (I would suggest some of you internet Bloggers who seem to have what it takes )

The downside to this would be the revolutional zeal and boyish optimism of such a new candidate would evaporate into thin air by the sounds of bullets from the dark forces within Anambra state who will not blink or bat an eye at taking another man’s life for a fee of less than N1,000.00.

To think Nigeria would ever attain the lofty heights of the next level of the Gani struggle, which is not just criticising governments and authorities but wrestling power through the ballot box from political oligarchs is one dream that is almost impossible if not unfathomable.

Nigerians might someday in the future however have a dream, A dream in the Martin Luther King mould, but to have that kind of dream in this day and age with all the economic indicators showing negative growth, bleak economic output and to crown it the self inflicted bank crisis, is a luxury that Baba God is not ready to give to any Nigeria today, I might however be proved wrong.

And just how did the cab guy know how much it cost?

After dropping them off, he wet bk to Harrods to get details of their tranaction??

And if the story is indeed true, there's nothing abnormal about it.

Nigerian politicians have been known to spend obscene sums on obscene things

Mallam: Have you got enough space in your car ?

Cab Driver: Yes sir, there is room for all what you bought sir,

Mallam: Be careful with that Pram,

Cab Driver: Yes sir, this pram is very beautiful,

Mallam: Oh yes, u know this shop is Harrods all their things are very expensive, I know I can get this particular one for $2,000.00 in Dubai, but my wife likes Harrod’s products.

Cab Driver: You mean this pram is more than $2,000.00 sir, oh yes everything is expensive in London because of their useless taxes we bought it £4350.00 but we thank God Isha allauh,

Cab Driver: £4350.00 poundddddddds, where are you from Sir,

Mallam: Nigeria,

Cab Driver: it must be from the North because I know most southerners when I see them,

The above conversation is not inconceivable, you have to know that Cab Drivers in the west are Professionals unlike Nigeria and most passengers tend to have a no hold barriers conversation with Cab drivers knowing that they are faceless human beings whom they might never come across again in their lives. Passengers would tell and reveal to cab drivers stories they will never tell their friends or families.

Politics › Nigerian Youths Who Are These Youths ? by KnowAll(op): 8:59pm On Sep 06, 2009
Who are these " Nigerian Youths " , I am hope the word Nigerian youths is not a backdoor pseudonym for faceless, frustrated, and envious beer belly adults who have being frozen out of the social, political and economic concerns in their beloved country.

We all know our youths are fast becoming illiterates, a majority are already semi-illetrates, since electricity supply has slipped from what was once considered an erratic and epileptic situation to a more permanent and perpetual darkness as it is today.

We are also aware that such an enviroment only breeds and brings to the open all the ills of the society, from the of men of the underworld who spring to life when it is dark,  to the women of easy virtue who strutt provokingly on our streets under the cover of darkness  to cap it all the bent and fraudulent  law enforcement officers  going about their various nefarious activity under the cover of darkness from taking bribes to lending out their fire arms for a fee.

For our political commentators to now use pseudonyms such as Nigeria  youths is not only exalting to Nigerian Youths which I must say there is nothing wrong in raising the profile of our already down and trodden youths it is also self-aggrandizing.

I knew from my last few sojourn to Nigeria that I did not see any youth agitating for one right or the other, what  I saw where young men who were lean,  worriedly unfed,  unhealthy with a look of hunger on their various faces although, I must give it to them they had a huge and happy smile on their faces.

These youths will do the most mundane jobs for you in other to guarantee a meal for that day. I looked with despire the enthusiasm emanating from these young men, I must confess it was quite  inspiring to me, I pondered over the relative ease of how these young men put their lives, hopes and aspirations on the con men running our various level of Government. I even overheard one saying the President said this and said that, I could see the enthusiasm in the face of this particular youth, you will think the deeds and policy announced by some clueless announcer on the radio about some government policy has already come to past.

I thought to myself this enthusiasm is great, but it could also be bad because it is these kind of blind loyalty to the various government that has drawn us back from being a developing country to the brink of a stone age existence which we found ourselves today.

I am sure kids born in the future would be amazed by the awesome power of electricity and the glamour it brings,  because then it would be new like it was in the 1930’s and 1940’s when electricity started appearing in our towns and cities.

For our disgruntled middle aged political commentators to come out with a spin such as Nigeria Youths replies Dele Momodu, or our youths are angry with Mr Abati, One question that keeps popping up in my mind and baffling me is who are these youths, are we talking of the same youths here, youths who have never seen constant electricity in their lives before, or is it this same youths who don’t know what it means to be a middle class person in Nigeria or what the term stand for.

Surely we can’t be talking of the same youths, those political commentators should stop being cowards and lift the veil from their ugly distorted faces and let us know who they are really are.  Nigerian youths are innocent beings living and adjusting to the nation and are blindly loyal to what they can only see,  to tell a Nigerian youth,  Nigeria once had constant electricity is to be speaking in parables.

The whole world knows Nigeria youths are known existent, not that there are no more youths in Nigeria, but political awareness is next to nil, the incessant closure of Nigerian university does not help matters,  Nigerian youths have being reduced to area boys and cultist, the last thing on such individual’s mind would be the write ups and editorial columns of Mr. Dele Momodu.

Dele Momodu as far as our current youths are concerned is part of the establishment they don’t know any difference, it has to be noted that when 2 elephants fight it is the grass that will suffer, Dele Momodu is only trying to grasped and commandeer more of the national cake than the crumbs he gets from his master’s table, is this greedy and selfish act our youths problem I doubt.  undecided

Eratus, Eratus, is a man who always wants to be on the winning side, having sojourn out of the country knowing the terrible state of his bank, and fully briefed by his lackeys and friends within the CBN system about the impending Hang Man's noose on him and a few others , he took his leave from the republic. With the EFCC declaring him wanted and threating extradition if found in friendly countries alas Ghana or the UK, he is assumed to have slipped back quietly into the country.

He is a man well versed in the Nigerian Judicial system, he knows that the maximum he will serve with good co-operation would be 6 months in jail which starts counting the moment he sits with Madame Waziri over a cup of tea. To be a fugitive in a country like Nigeria is subjecting yourself to jungle justice and street violence, where if a theif is caught in the act or an innocent person was pointed out as a theif sentencing and judgement would be summarily. But if you go through the right channel, with a few greasing of the palms here and there, you will be out b4 you say jacky stone.

Cases of Igbeneidion and Alams comes to mind, one would be a fool and senseless to run away from a country like Nigeria even if you have committed the most henious crime. To do that you get the Dikko treatment, to stand and face justice in Nigeria would be like a home coming celebration by those who are tasked with arresting you, there would be a lot of hugging, and back patting if only the cameras were allowed in Madame Waziri's Interogation room.   undecided

I would have love to have taken the baton from Gani, incidentally he happens to be my uncle, my late father's junior brother, but the dust and toxic fumes of the Nigerian prison system is too much a torture and hazard to bear for 5 minutes, to imagine that Gani who was a rich, and comfortable lawyer was always in and out of such a gory, dark, and unpleasant place through out his career is very,  very,  comendable.

I dont think there are too many Nigerians who will leave the comfort of their luxurious life styles and embark on a crusade for the rights of the down and trodden which will probably end with a stint in one of African's re-nown Gulags, a fact that even the British have come to acknowledge hence her decision to build a new incarceration centre for deported Nigerians.

Politics › Madame Waziri Seems To Be Basking In The Lime Light Was Ribadu A Fraud ? by KnowAll(op): 8:57pm On Sep 01, 2009
The banking chiefs sackings have suddenly thrown Madame Waziri into the limelight she is buzzing with energy and really enjoying every minute of her new empowerment, not since the demise of Ribadu has the EFCC being talked and written about.

I was watching Al Jazera the other day and the newscaster said Nigeria's anti fraud police have giving all debtors a week to pay up, and steering back at me on TV were burly looking men with bright orange vest escorting some of the former bank chiefs. I said to myself it appears EFCC is going through a renaissance the toothless bulldog which EFCC has become to be known, has suddenly grown new frightening fangs and madame Waziri is enjoying every miniscle second of it, at last she can step out of Ribadu's shadow.

Ribadu's baby has grown and it is now Waziri's adopted teenage child, today Ribadu's stewardship is looking shaky, inconclusive and the word incompetence a word one dear not use with respect to Ribadu seems convienent to pander with relative ease, all of a sudden there seems to be justification in the claim that he was just OBJ's attack dog going after enemies of the state rather than fighting crime. It seems all the kings men are going down the pan, first it was the highly respected CBN Governor " Soludo " and now Ribadu.

If Ribadu was that good at his job, how come those greedy bankers got away with the most henious crime commited to Nigerians, we all know it is no more news that politicians are embezziling and emptying the coffers of the various levels of goverment, but stealing directly from the Nigeria people which is what the bankers have been doing for years during the OBJ years seems to hit home and affects virtually every family in the land, I have personally seen my shares holdings everporate into thin air.

So Ladies and Gentlemen was Ribadu a fraud ?

The strong Naira was the reason why Soludo came out with the redenomination proposals, but the government of Yardua rejected it hands down. I would not be surprise if this policy is revisited by Salami. Ghana did it hence the turn around and boost to her economy.

Northern beggars have no business loitering in the streets of Lagos without contributing nowt to the development of the state.

For any Governor to think he or she can solve what is basically a humanist and social problem in a city of 18 million inhabitants beats one's imagination. It is either the Governor is living in a cokoo land  or he is simply dis-illusioned or both and needs to be brought back to reality. Fashola a well travelled man should know that miscreants, beggers, and other destitute are part and parcel of most megapolis all over the the world.

It would be foolhardy to think that by mere shifting of human beings like cattles from one destitination to another would solve what is a  natural underbelly of any major metropolis, to now think that lagos is also the economic hub to 145 million Nigerians does not do justice to the Governors action.

Cities like bombay, cairo, johnesburg have the same problems lagos is facing it would take an act of God for such problems to be absolved in its entirety, when one considers that these same problem is still a majour cause of concern to authorities in mordern 1st world economies like london and new york with her generous benefit system,  it only confirms my earlier stance that the Governor's action was an un-necessary exercise in futility which should be abondoned without any reproach or second thought.

Lagos deprts 160 Northern Beggers.

It is with a pained heart I read the above headline, it actually puts Fashola's credentials as a man of letters, a lawyer, and a champion of the poor and the dis-enfranchise to question. On one hand it is ok to pay Tinubu's tax collection outfit a mouth watering N16 billion monthly or is it yearly well I am not too sure of the exact figure.

A lot can be done if that kind of money is used for social programes in rehabitating  these so called destitute. But it is something that has to be approached carefully as lagos state would not want to be seen as the el-dorado for all lame and mimed people in the country if cash was use as an incentive to lure them back to their respective states. It will not be unthinkable and un-common for full abled men to pose as disabled so as get some kind of sustenance from the state. It is a difficult one for a Governor to legislate for or against I personally think the best line of action is for the govenor to allow the satus quo to remain as it were. " A see no evil hear no evil approach " rather than getting his hands stained in all kinds  of dirt.
