.As big as Lagos is,there should be at least two Airport. It going to help in developing Lagos the more and to really meet up with International standard i.e Lagos itself. Please if you dont agree with this,"tell me how many Airports are in New York city or Singapore?"those are the places we have to be comparing Lagos with not with baby state which just started developing yesterday.Although I'm not from Lagos but Lagos is like the capital city of Yoruba land.Eko oni baje o.

Some people think from their arse sha, u have one flight every 4 or 5 hours in the night yet u want build another airport, looks like if Fashola wants to build shit holes akala style some people here would still praise him yet Akala is the butt of all jokes.

I am suprise Ibadan is trouncing Port-Haarcourt I thought Port Harcourt is Naija 3rd City after Lagos and ABUJA. Ibadan is meant to be a dump but it seems to be fearing well, it looks like MEND has taking its toll on PH.

Kaduna is on a decline due to the emergence of Abuja. I heard all the Northerners that have houses in Kaduna have relocated to Abuja.
Politics › Re: Do We Need Another International Airport In Lagos ? by KnowAll(m): 1:19pm On Oct 12, 2009
Lagos don’t need an airport, u still have one flight and hour at MM at the moment, there is a flight out of Heathrow every 5 minutes. MM is way below capacity. Lagos State should not waste its land building Airports when the one on ground is still under utilised.

The last time I came to Nigeria, there were only 3 flights between 11:00pm and 5:00am from MM airport and we want to build another airport, what for. undecided

91.8% to 18%,

If this is not thrashing what else is thrashing, our dear president must resign oh, u cannot be the most popular party in the country and get this kind of thrashing.

I hope in the weeks and months to come Yardua will order his army of internet supporters to come enmass and vote in order to shore up his popularity to an acceptable level.

I beg moderator close this thread it has run its course, the topic here is hypothetical until such a time when the Ghanaian Government actually tells all Nigerians to leave it is an unnecessary waste of time that doesn’t warrant these entire hullabaloo.

Nigerians please stop pulling your hairs off for something that has not and might not even happen.

Of course if the Ghanaian government deem it fit for Nigerians to pay $300,000.00 to run a business in Ghana, what it simply means is that ECOWAS is dead and Nigeria should not bother attending such conferences anymore since it will only amount to a talking shop with no concrete communiqué.

We should be talking more of the scrapping and dis-banning of ECOWAS if anything at all
Business › Re: Obasanjo Creates 6000 Jobs In Ota Farm by KnowAll(m): 10:53am On Oct 12, 2009
Obasanjo LOOTED well in excess of the 16 Billion dollars that he stole from the fund allocated to revive Nigeria's electricity grid, and as usual, he got away with that crime of the century CLEAN, in true Nigerian fashion.

What he does with that stolen money is of no interest whatsoever to most people who would rather hear that the vagabond was ambushed, kidnapped and then slaughtered by those who know what payback is really owed to scumbags like that geriatric old kleptomaniac phuckhead.

If every looter can employ 6,000 people and I know in Nigeria we have in excess of over 200 documented looters, then unemployment will not be an issue in this country, rather Nigeria will be the food basket of Africa, our commonwealth which has been commandeered by the looters would be seen to have been put into good use.

Of what economic benefit and significance is it to the country of those high powered lawyers, who are charging James Ibori £25,000 per hour in defence of a case which will drag on for years,

( 1 ) because the respondent who is James Ibori is not available and ready to attend the court session,

( 2 ) the Lawyers in conjunction with the Judges will come to a compromise of an endless adjournment, in other for the lawyers to clean out the big black nig*er of a man who in his own smart and whacked mind think he has successfully fleeced his constituents dry.

What the ex President has done is commendable, I hope this time around prudence and good governance will prevail in the running of the Obasanjo Farms, we hope it will not degenerate into that pitiable sight of a few pigs and an empty pen for the chickens.

I am surprise the ex President is even celebrating 30 years of the existence of the farm, by all reckoning I thought that farm was more or less a ghost town of dilapidated farm machinery and silos for most of that 30 years, well, the name on the rusted sign board and the dusty road leading to the farm is worth celebrating.  undecided
Politics › Re: Akala Creates Lucrative Jobs For Oyo Graduates by KnowAll(m): 4:16pm On Oct 11, 2009
As bad as Akala is, he would probably win the election come 2011. For u to win in Oyo State u need Ibadan, It does not help the 2 Ibadan Indigenes who would split the Ibadan votes amongst 3 main parties. Akala on the other hand with the remenant thugs of Adedibu would capture 1/4 of the votes he will then go on and clear

Ibadan - 25%
Ogbomosho - 98%
Oyo -80%
Oke Ogun - Iseyn and Shaki, - 85% - he has invested well in mechanised farming in Oke Ogun area.

It would take a miracle for him to lose in 2011, despite all these bad press from his 5* toilets to his Graduates driving cab scheme.

Since my Home town of Ondo Town is not on the list, and my other adopted town which I grew up Ibadan is also not on the list the nearest to both these place would have to be Lagos hence Lagos. But then I hate the slums of Lagos and to live on the island is a premium, I guess I can find something cheap around Agege. huh
Politics › Re: Supplementary Budget Underway For N’delta by KnowAll(m): 3:39pm On Oct 11, 2009
Yardua Please recreate the fortunes of the South-South to what it was in the 50's

The humiliation Nigerians sojourning in other countries are getting from their host is becoming rather embarrassing for an oil producing Nation like ours. I was excited when Yardua created the ministry of Niger delta some18 odd months ago, my thoughts where right, at last this is the right step in the right direction, A ministry with the sole aim of drawing up a development plan and putting infrastructures in place in the Niger delta will auger well and act as a boost not only for the economies of those States in the South-South but for all Nigeria.

The pain, agony and unhealthy rivalry Nigerian businesses are facing in neighbouring Ghana should not be allowed to continue as this is seen if anything else as failings of our Government in creating, an enviable environment where business will blossom and wealth and jobs created for her citizens. These failings cannot  be underestimated as I once again read the sad demise of a dutiful Police Officer who reported for work at a bank at Ifaki-Ekiti, Ekiti State at one of the older generation banks only to be shot like a dog at his duty post by a band of armed men who in their quest to rob the bank also shot an innocent clergy man. I drool in anguish over the pain and the agony the families of these 2 gentlemen would be going through, men who where simply going about their civil duties as law abiding citizens of our great nation only to be cut down like insurgents this is not only disheartening but evil.

Sapele In the early 50’s use to be a mini-Nigeria, where every tribe were represented in the town’s, social, economic and political activities, Nigerians of every ethnic background plied their various businesses,  the Hausa man sold his suya to the merchants in the town, the Yoruba had a whole street named Yoruba street, the Igbo sold their wares it was a good time in those days. This was a time when their was no oil income, if one where to take the income realise today as against the economic activities that prevailed in the 50’s one will realise that by today’s standard a region like Sapele should be one huge conurbation of cities stretching from Sapele to Port Hacourt a mega city where all Nigerians will be comfortable to live and work without the fear and trepidation of Immigration control.

The big question I often ponder over is what is or was the point of the ministry of the Niger delta, is it just something that will run its course in the media and will eventually fizzle out into oblivion as time passes by or has it any genuine intention. Perhaps I suspect it is one of those meaningless re-branding modules and exercise devise by our honourable or is it dishonourable minister of information to put the government in a good light.

A food for thought for our government and subsequent governments.

We can create our own Ghana in the South-South, we once had our own Ghana their we can re-create it again, resource control is all about investing where the golden egg is laid. It would benefit all Nigerians immensely, this is a region the lingua franca is Pidgin English, a language understood by all Nigerians.

If Only our first Graduate President can behave, plan, and execute like a graduate then I can say for sure that Nigeria would be El-dorado in 20 years time. I still have an iota of confidence on Yardua to turn our fortunes as a nation round, I might however be wrong, we shall wait to see how it all pans out.[/col

messers KnowAll saw it coming yet again, looks like the goverment is making the right decisons, the economies of the South-South should be revamp as a matter of National emergency, otherwise what was all that amnesty for   undecided
Politics › Re: Rubbish! Neither Awo Nor Adesanya Was Yoruba Leader –akinjide by KnowAll(m): 3:28pm On Oct 11, 2009
I guess Akinjide is trying to say that there can never be one faction in Western Nigeria. not even 2. There are always going to be people with varying political ideas but that does not mean that they dont admire or identify with Awo.
Everything in yoruba land should not be seen as pro or anti Awo.

I can predict what will happen 2011 if there is no rigging.

Oyo State - PDP, except if AC fields an Ibadan man that is not a push over, I cant see Akala losing thus, I would be susprised if he did.

Oshun State - The Osogbo's / Edes /Gbongan will go PDP, Ife /Ijesha who are stong Awoist would be split down the middle if Fani-Kayode wins the PDP ticket an Ife man, it will mean Oshogbo /EDE /Gbongan / IFE all PDP leaving only Ijesha who will go AC. I predict a PDP victory

Ondo - No election untill 2013

Ekiti - No election untill 2013

Ogun - PDP, it would be inconccivable for OBJ master rigger not to deliver his states, there is also the Gbenga Daniels and Dimeji Banlole factors to contend with. This state will be another Anambra State ROUND 2 for PDP, but they will carry the day thus.

Lagos State - AC
Politics › Re: Rubbish! Neither Awo Nor Adesanya Was Yoruba Leader –akinjide by KnowAll(m): 2:24pm On Oct 11, 2009
So Tinubu is now AC and AC is Tinubu. Even Tinubu was never Afenifere but is yoruba.
You are beginning to sound unclear. You use Historical heritage to justify Edo state while excluding Oyo a pure yoruba state as sworn enemies of Awo.
Are u saying that Awo is yoruba history and yoruba history is Awo?
What about the other governors I mentioned who are not Awoists. The most popular well known governor in the state today is ogbemudia and he was never an awoist.
Could you please stop making these erroneous generalisations but instead get your facts right.

Report to moderator    Logged

I personally dont recognise Afenifere, neither did I say Tinubu recognises Afenifere, Afenifere is attempt by Yoruba elders to bridge the Awo / Akintola factions but it did not work. So I agree with Akinjide on this point. What I am trying to elucidate here is Akinjide was one of Akintola's foot soldiers in the 60's, it would be inconceivable for him to give Awo all the accolades that he deserves.

My point with regards to Edo State is simply, this is a state that was part of the western region and has had past affilations with political parties in that area, in fact Edo state is a state that has an effective opposition unlike some states even if their Governor is shit one party will always win.

The Ogbemedia's are a well known name in Benin, he can win election based on that, he was there for 8 years and did nothing in Edo worthy of mentioning, it would be madness for Edo electrolates to vote for another do-nothing,  non performing political party when there was an effective opposition, hence the election of labour by funds from AC who are an off-shoot of UPN and AG.

I know u are an Awoist, so am I but the facts must be told there are 2 political factions in Yoruba land. As for leadership of Yorubas, Yorubas have their Obas and I dont have to recite Yoruba history for u to know who are the leaders, it is got to be both the Ooni and the Alaafin any other kind of leadership is a fraud and not worthy of mention.
Politics › Re: Rubbish! Neither Awo Nor Adesanya Was Yoruba Leader –akinjide by KnowAll(m): 1:44pm On Oct 11, 2009
Infact Afenifere is aware of the 2 factions hence her establishment to bridge the gap unfortunately it has never worked.
Politics › Re: Rubbish! Neither Awo Nor Adesanya Was Yoruba Leader –akinjide by KnowAll(m): 1:40pm On Oct 11, 2009
Atiku, solomon lar and Ngige are all Awoists because of their AC affiliations.

The above names are irrlevant to the discuss here, Edo state shares Historical heritage with the SW, they were part of Western Region b4 the Mid-west was created in the 60's the influence of those early days is still relevant today. Oshimoloe was sponsored by Tinubu he could have gone to any of the other opposition party to fund his election but chose Tinubu that is because of Historical precedents.

Secondly I only mentioned Edo state as more of an Awoist state than some states in the west like Oyo state and the Osogbo/Ede /Gbongan axis of Oshun state who are sworn enemy of Awolowo. People like Akinjide, Akinloye, Adedibu u will never catch them ever even if u put a gun on their head vote 4 Awo. So Akinjide coming out today saying there are no Yoruba Leaders is a true statement because he belongs to the other faction which is the Akintola faction. There 2 factions wether any yoruba man wants to admit it or not.
Politics › Re: Ibrahim Agboola Gambari? by KnowAll(m): 1:24pm On Oct 11, 2009
Afeniferes is for only SWesterns and not open to Kwara indigenes, is like asking a Yoruba man from Republic of Benin to come and head Afenifere. Kwara was never part of western state why would they want to be part of Afenifere. No shared history other than Language.
Politics › Re: Rubbish! Neither Awo Nor Adesanya Was Yoruba Leader –akinjide by KnowAll(m): 1:10pm On Oct 11, 2009
I take that as a typo !

Edo State is not a youba state per se only by heritage, but still ardent followers of AG policy, from Abrose Alli, to Oseigmole, u cannot take that away, if u have a free and fair election today in Edo State the Awoist in that state will carry the day. Same cannot be said of Oyo state which have always resisted Awolowo.

They say when u dine with the devil always use a long spoon, I hope Tompolo is taking due care of his own personal well being soja or no soja.
Politics › Re: Rubbish! Neither Awo Nor Adesanya Was Yoruba Leader –akinjide by KnowAll(m): 12:44pm On Oct 11, 2009
Yoruba Politics silently has always being a 2 prong horse race, since Akintola and Awolowo fell out in the 60's. The Ekitis, Ondo's, Ogun, Lagos and the Ife  / Ijesha parts of Osun State would always go for Awolowo and they see him as a hero. Akintola being an Ogbomosho man has very huge influence in all part of present Oyo State, and the Osogbo/Ede/Gbongan axis of Oshun state.

One election that brought all Yorubas together for the 1st time was Abiola's June 12 election and the spill over of this election made it possible for the AD to win Oyo State after a decade in Opposition hands. But the late strong man of Ibadan Politics made sure the status quo was re-established that is making sure the Akintola faction were back in power, Akala is a protegee of this faction.

Today the Akintola faction who have always being in some coalition with the North is controlling 4 Yoruba states namely Ogun - Awo's own state, Ekiti, Oyo and Oshun. The most loyal Awo state today are Ondo, Lagos and Edo states.

the only reason people will not vote for him is cuz he's a hausa man. no man on the face of this earth can change nigeria or should i say nigerians

What a lame excuse, we were excited when he was elected as our first graduate President but his performance has being worse than 27 year old Jack Yakubu Gowon. What is all that education for then.

You put up a poll for Ribadu who ironically is also Hausa and see the toll tally up I would be susprise if does not poll over 60% even in biased and tribalised Nairaland.

The ABURI Confrence is quite intresting in many ways, it picthes a highly educated Oxford graduate Ojukwu against men of supposedly lower intellect but with an unravelled skill in the old act of gouging and tact as suppose to brawns and brains.

I must confess Ojukwu fell like a park of cards for the trap Col Katsina set up for him, and he also failed to recognise the trap Bolaji was luring him into,  Bolaji made his Gorge Bush stance of you are " either with us or not no sitting on the fence " Gowon's meek outlook must not be seen as a weakness but should be viewed as a champion gambler whom one cannot predict the strenght or weakness of the aces on his hands.

Col Katsina forced Ojukwu's hand in pulling the east out of Nigeria only for Nigeria to defeat him and he looking real bad. What Ojukwu should have done was wait and agree with each and everyone of them only to strike again in the future. If the Northerners can wait 7 months to revenge the death of the Sarduna and other prominenent politicians killed in Jan 66 why could'nt Ojukwu, he made a tactical error and it was caused by Col Katsina forcing his hands, Who says mallams are fools from what transpired in that confrence Col Katsina was no man's fool he knew what he was saying and doing and he came out on top.

When u have 47 fishes in a pond worth N100.00 Naira each, it would only be a fool who will ignore the biggest fish in the pond who happens to be the former CBN govenor and pick a small fry. I think PDP has let natural wisdom prevail to the detriment of the other disgruntled and defranchised candidates.

Soludo as we all know should now justify the trust and a scond life line the Yardua's have given to him, this is his time to grasp the opportunity and make a difference in the lives of Anambras, if he proves his mettle here, one would not discount a run for the presidency come 2015.

Afterall he has being around the corridors of Aso Rock for the best part of a decade for him not to have a latent ambition of being the occupier of Aso Rock someday as suppose to being the errand boy firstly to OBJ and now to Turai and her go slow husband

Despite Ironsi’s murder six months earlier, no public announcement regarding his death had been made and his whereabouts were still presumed unknown, although most of the SMC definitely knew he was dead. Gowon’s regime had eerily repeated the mistake made by Ironsi himself: failing to publicly acknowledge the army officers killed in a coup d’etat.
By not announcing Ironsi’s death, Gowon also made his own position tenuous and gave Ojukwu the opportunity to reason that since the Supreme Commander Ironsi was “missing”, only the officer directly behind Ironsi in army seniority could replace him as Supreme Commander. Major Mobolaji Johnson encapsulated the issue that the east was steadfastly refusing to recognize Gowon as Head of State while the other regions accepted him (albeit tentatively in the case of the west): “The main problem now is that as far as the east is concerned, there is no central government. Why? This is what we must find out. …, For all the east knows the former Supreme Commander [Ironsi] is only missing and until such a time that they know his whereabouts they do not know any other Supreme Commander. These are the points that have been brought out by the east.”

I find these bit the most intresting bit about the Aburi Confrence, it sumerizes the treachery, corwardice and the Gallantry of all the participants. I live it NL s to determine who falls into which category.

If only we have put our house in order, at times I feel like grabbing a revolver and emptying its contents on the fools who call themselves our leaders they seem to always enjoy the misery and pains hip on their fellow country men by principalities smaller than lagos state.

When u have 42 people who are contesting for one position in the same party what does that tell u, it simply means Nigerians generally have seen that the other existing political parties are a bunch of no hopers.

Invariably by pruning the candidacy to just one person, and to safe face these disenfranchised PDP candidates will probably create a proliferation of political parties.

Anambra state should be prepared to embrace an avalanche of 42 parties in the weeks and months to come.
