@toba . 1 Question: Are u one? |
Interesting how times change. I have since moved on to a better alternative but am still interested. though i am looking for partners now. The money is there. all i need is skilled people now and skilled managers. |
Good for you. In my own case, i am now quite rich n more social but still pinging for the "Lady in Question". Hope my request doesnt timeout. Nice one. |
So In a few words, whats your solution? bullet points plz. (feeling like my wickid prof) |
Obviously none of these people have ever had anything to do with shell. KPMG will of course allow you to learn a lot since you will be acting as consultant to many companies but let me inform you that the atmosphere in shell is EXACTLY the same. Promotion may not come every year but BONUSES do come for good output (besides thats what promotion in KPMG translates to anyway. And becoming a Partner in 15 years is not that easy). In shell, you will define your own limit. In shell, your height will be defined by your level of discipline and your attitude to learning. Besides, where else in nigeria besides the oil companies do you get to administer multimillion dollar or -naira projects at that early stage of your career. You will handle more responsibility than in ANY OTHER nigerian company (thats why they will pay you more than MOST). You will not be the SMARTEST in your office (for sure, SHELL recruits the best) but you will be happy to grow in an environment where few envy your intelligence. I advice you not to let people who have tried and failed discourage you from a choice of a lifetime. Make your own decision. |
lol. |
This is like a valedictory post. Finished from Bowen 2008. Currently working in a really good company. happy to have schooled there. Hope to be a part of its unending growth. Miss all the friends I made there. Miss my ex-girlfriend. Miss my core of IT geeks (especially super-geek extraordinaire Maliki Jaffar) Miss the porters waking me up. Miss the speed of daily life. miss the Gossip (who went where, who did who, who wants who, who is who) miss Bowen. Thanks for teaching me:
[li]Always have a plan B[/li] [li]You are on your own[/li] [li]Rules are made for the unruly not the righteous[/li] [li]If you naturally live within the rules or laws, they cease to exist[/li]
and lots more. Thanks for turning a geeky, angry, intelligent guy into a successful young manager. merci |
Hiya again. just wanted to say hi to the delightfully blind. Hope you are still busy choosing favourite saints (including people like the former tsar of Russia who STILL GOT sainted. urrgh). Have fun with your pseudo-objective outlook. Always fun to see people who still defend their religion on blind loyalty.(Latest convert: Foster C Foster cat:at) who cares who started the church. the church was started by Jesus Christ. Get that clear and forget about the divisions that arose after he left. even in paul's time, there were divisions talkless after. About luther dying a catholic, you are a stone cold liar. If you had said Voltaire then you would have made sense. These are the accounts of his last hours from Wikipedia The negotiations were successfully concluded on 17 February 1546. After 8:00 p.m., he experienced chest pains. When he went to his bed, he prayed, "Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God" (Ps. 31:5), the common prayer of the dying. At 1:00 a.m. he awoke with more chest pain and was warmed with hot towels. He thanked God for revealing his Son to him in whom he had believed. His companions, Justus Jonas and Michael Coelius, shouted loudly, "Reverend father, are you ready to die trusting in your Lord Jesus Christ and to confess the doctrine which you have taught in his name?" A distinct "Yes" was Luther's reply. Luther's face and hands cast at his death. An apoplectic stroke deprived him of his speech, and he died shortly afterwards at 2:45 a.m., 18 February 1546, aged 62, in Eisleben, the city of his birth. He was buried in the Castle Church in Wittenberg, beneath the pulpit |
@udezue thats the ideal case. however it wont happen in practice for now. Besides, it does not really matter who's there. They are all rogues anyway (except fashola) |
if there's anything i need to know about forex, it is this HOW TO MAKE 1% gain on a daily basis. simple. no more. |
I firmly believe it would be a big mistake for Nigeria to agree to this. Its like cutting the giraffe's neck because you can't reach the tree leaves with your teeth. zebra:so what. who says the knowledge in both cases has to be mutually exclusive. If you only taught them that without going outside your note. then you have cheated them and are responsible for all these people claiming B.Sc is not better . Why. because by recycling those notes, you are bringing them down to that same level. zebra:My bias would be a result of schooling in a private uni where the curriculum is not as outdated as in the public unis. it is hard for me to believe such since the other D.E students from polytechnics actually did not know any better than I did. In fact, my cambridge A Level Computing was far superior in breadth compared to what they had in spite of the fact that they could get jobs with their OND and i couldn't with my A Level. Correctly taught and administered, A B.Sc anywhere in the world (And we are supposed to be aiming for world standard) is far superior to a HND. its like comparing harvard with a community college (which gives an equivalent of HND called associate degree). they just dont match. |
@zebra I am yet to meet a HND holder who knows the specifics of core computer science (I am not talking about street programming and itinerant web designing) as I do. I am talking about core data structures and optimiztion of scientific algorithms. that is total balderdash (forgive the harsh words). Any competent (i stress that word) university student brings to the job more than just technical knowledge but all so a greater understanding of implications. You may refuse to accept it but that is the reality. I am a firm believer in truth. It is the second principle in my life besides a belief in Christ. I believe if a man accepts the truth, it is a blinding light that cannot but make him a leader. it is the reason for my personal success so far. I am not speaking out of pure bias but simple plain observation. Get more money if thats the obstacle BUT go back to school to get that B.Sc . IT IS NOT TOO LATE. |
@ HNDHolder you obviously assume I work for some bank or am some hungry programmer. I would not like to name the company where I work but at the same time, what i am paid on an annual basis is equivalent to what a guy won recently on one Q and A national TV show. that should give you an idea. I could buy a car every other month on my salary if i want (not adding my income from investments anyway). But you are still proving my point. even though we are all big men where i work, the HND guys still get paid less even if they do rig work. |
we are all self taught. Programming is not taught, it is learnt. soccer may be partially taught but at the end of the day, you learn it on your own. I guess you are really focusing on the fact that you have skills but no certificate. Well, there is something better than a certificate, its called a P.O.R.T.F.O.L.I.O With that, in many cases, you can walk into many places and get instant recognition. Why? because companies are less in filling seats. all they want is getting the job DONE. In the meantime, get certified for your skills. if you are really good, then the exam should be a breeze (though you should still read for it). |
1.Start your own forum 2. after doing the above, you can make your own rules. capisce |
I will spoil business for all of you. There are free dating scripts online. download them and get someone to upload and configure it for you(dont pay more than N10,000). visit www.hotscripts.com, www.sourceforge.net, www.freshmeat.net, www.google.com. We may not be like ghana, but we can always leapfrog them by learning from them (sic) and from others too. I have hope that we can surpass all these countries once we divert all our creative energies in the right direction. Better days ahead. |
They have said it all. You pick it up. At the end of the day, you will bring your own personal character to the process. If you are a thorough person normally, it will show in your code and in your learning processes. If you are someone who procrastinates, you will have lots of unfinished projects and you stand a risk of killing whatever flame is inside of you. It can be easy though there are difficult parts (but when you conquer those difficulties you feel real smart. Its like a rush. In my own case, if its code with a mathematical base, it makes me feel like a genius. sometimes). Its fun, its lucrative, its a mind-builder. its also a great way of viewing the world. Dive in and enjoy urself. |
We should simply give this Itohan guy his own sex forum. He is so into the romance and sexuality section. |
Anybody can plan. Its the ones that make their dreams into reality that we call entrepreneurs. As is said in the 48 Laws of Power "Convince through action not the force of your arguments" (I am paraphrasing). Making a business out of selling ideas, while having no track record of expertise or prior skill is in my view a dangerous venture. |
you talk about small capital and at the same time you talk about real estate. they dont seem to match unless the capital is enough to build or buy a house. Mind you, most people are narrow-minded, and all they know about real estate is to buy and sell the house. Sometimes, real estate is about buying the house and then selling services through it. IDEA: build a tiny hostel for any of those non-residential schools. sells like wildfire. |
in the off chance that you are a yahoo boy fresh out of ideas, then please go for forex and lose it pretty fast. If you are not, forgive me DISCLAIMER: Forex is not such a bad idea, i just dont know enough to make an intelligent assessment about it. |
what you need? just come and stay for a few weeks here. make sure you come with a log book and write down all your frustrations. Soon, you should have gathered enough ideas to make more money. more later. |
roflolthis seems to be a growth market in a depressed economy. Guess my next post is "Recruiting Sex Professionals for Anti-Male-Virginity campaign". 7000 for syphilis, gonorhea, hepatitis (all flavours please specify), HIV (in stock and selling fast), Customer satisfaction and premature death guaranteed Please note there are no money-back guarantees |
@HND Holder specifically. I tackled you at the beginning of this post because you perpetuate a belief that i believe is ultimately detrimental to our progress. So Sir (you pointedly reminded me of your age in one of the many threads in which we traded arguments), please join the other HND holders and pay attention to what I have to say. @the other HND holders: There are few things worse than a man who deliberately chooses not to better himself. You seem happy to remain at that level. Is it ----A reluctance to accept your inadequacy and actually learn further. ----willingness to get paid more while actually knowing less. I frankly dont know. I hope they dont accept that equality nonsense. they are not equal anywhere in the world and nigeria cannot be a special case of backwardness. thanks. |
@javascript or dhtml or whateva your name is, the people in the village where i am serving will resent that remark. I dont live in the sahara. I was just curious as to why we had to go round the coast (shortest distance between two points=straight line). |
Yes Planes are cheaper than cars. Just like cows and rams do cost millions. Nigerians!! they just wont believe. |
