Allow him. He's probably doing it with borrowed money anyway. Hope he has paid the one he borrowed from the distressed banks.

Interesting to see the level of beef nigerians have for men with great riches.

What other reason do you need? Trust is core. without that there's effectively no relationship. However, xtians are taught to forgive. Go with your heart.
PoliticsRe: Jos Crisis : 80 Cows Die Of Mango Poisoning by kodewrita(m): 12:36pm On Jun 25, 2010
Blame it on the mango. Are we sure they did not die of some disease they gained prior to eating someone's mangoes?

IDea: the farmer insured the mangoes with BLACK insurance (thou knowest what I mean).

Nairaland GeneralRe: Beware! Female Condoms With Teeth Are Out There! by kodewrita(m): 12:28pm On Jun 25, 2010
I guess I'll be the one to invent Kevlar armored condoms for rapists. That way you can express your repressed sexual fantasies without a south african doctor spoiling the fun. Money money money.
TravelRe: Are Nigerian Hotels And Guest Houses Over-priced? by kodewrita(m): 12:24pm On Jun 25, 2010
Is there a void here that can be filled? What would you consider a reasonable price for a room (say a single room or a double or a suite)?
Music/RadioRe: Jazz Growth in Nigeria by kodewrita(m): 12:20pm On Jun 25, 2010
BigSis:
Jazz is a creation of people of African descent in the US.  It began in New Orleans and spread across the globe.  Jazz is African American gift to the world.  The only original American music.

Everything is simply an imitation.  Please tell what part of the African country originated jazz. By the way, the word jazz is believed to have come from the BaKongo word "jizz", which to expell ones semen.  It also had the same meaning in New Orleans.  New Orleans had ever possible ethnic Africans, primarily in large numbers the the folks from the Congo and Angola.

The percusor to jazz is Ragtime(father of Ragtime is Scott Joplin).  Jazz would have never developed on the African continent. How could it possibly do so?  Black Americans are an amalgamation of many people.  You bring all of those elments together, living in an harsh an oppressive environment, and being naturally gifted, you get Jazz.  That is what makes us so wonderful gifted as people.  Do y'all know that jazz was originally a dancing music.

So y'all stop trying steal our music.   kiss  Africans in America are the orginators of Jazz, just like all other popular forms of music, i.e. rock-n-roll, the Blues, Ragtime, soul, gospel, funk, rythmn & blues, rap, etc.

I have no problem with y'all imitating us.  Imitation is the best kind of flattery, but to claim it as your creation is so silly.

JazzGrowth,

Smooth Jazz is not jazz. It is pop music. It like eating a hot dog vs. a steak. I suggest people start with the original jazz. The original jazz is happy, dancing music.
thanks for the clarification but for it to survive in nigeria, it must adapt and evolve.

I have lots of dead phones too. imagine.

Nigerians are not that altruistic it seems.

Do you think there's a possibility of bringing something like that to life as a new idea? A way for nigerians (who dont like giving out money) to give it out to the needy in the form of old clothes?

We played better under him than we did under Bros Shuaib. Might as well keep him on for a while so he can reform the team. In the meantime, he'll be chopping NFA money and paying his local godfathers. hmmmmmmmmmn

PoliticsRe: Why Is Nigeria So Difficult To Develop? by kodewrita(m): 11:46am On Jun 25, 2010
Be the change you want to see. If you want to see nigeria develop, then strive to achieve world class status in your own sphere. That gives you power to make changes in that particular area. We all moan but we never do anything.

The next generation will still get to experience this if we are not careful.
RomanceRe: Does True Love Exist? by kodewrita(op): 11:34am On Jun 25, 2010
ilove80s:
LOVE DON'T EXIST, NOR DOES SOULMATES OR TRUE LOVE. The people who do believe in it are blinded by lust and they are living in a dream world as well. I have never believed in love, marriage and relationships are pointless, they don't last forever. Love equals lust, lust is where men use women, they get what they want and leave. I will stay a virgin for life as i dont wanna be sexually violated, i am straight as you can get, just sensible so that why i have made this decision of staying away from men for life. They are all nice to begin with but it is all an act because they show their true vile colours in the end.
The natural course of existence is for men and women to come together at some point in their life. I would not want to make assumptions about your age but I have learnt from personal experience that at some point, you seem to develop a need for deep communion with another human of the opposite sex. It will happen. Whether that will lead to love or not is a different ball game entirely.

By taking that stance, you are ignoring the countless successful marriages that you see every blessed day. i am sure there is at least one family that you know( and they are still going strong in their 70s or 80s).

life is short and a constant conflict. If you can live it with that special someone by your side, it gets much better. Infact, the bulk of the activities we are involved in during our youth is targeted at finding that special someone. Dont count yourself out. Nobody grows in life by avoiding the things they fear. You must face your fear to become the best you can be.
BusinessRe: How Can I Make One Million Naira Per Year? by kodewrita(m): 11:24am On Jun 25, 2010
@Ltrust, I suggest you work more on your idea.
personal opinion: The site looked quite boring to me. Do more work on it. Nigerians will always respond to good work in the end. For now, give us real useful content. Get a better design (One that jumps off the page). Use a newsletter.

The javascript popup is somehow irritating. It detracts from the page itself. No one wants to be interrupted that way.

Nice touch with the kiyosaki videos. Try to get more videos on your subject material from youtube.

Research and actually get useful stuff.

Besides, the material on the site seems like it was copied from either a book or elsewhere. Your titles are also distant-sounding  in a way. Try to make the content more personal. Lets feel your presence in the material.

I feel you have a lot to say but put it into better words. Peace.

RomanceRe: Would You Marry A Workaholic? by kodewrita(m): 11:15am On Jun 25, 2010
idifu:
@kodewrita so u work 4 demsad?
Nope I dont. But I know from a reliable source that Nairaland uses a Bayesian spam filter because of all the spammers who want to use the site to sell stuff like viagra and Seun had to put a stop to that. When the filter was just installed (many months back) a lot of legitimate posts went into the Trash bin until it was better calibrated.

I dont agree that the site should allow comments unmoderated. Antisocial people with an axe to grind with the world should not be allowed to spoil the fun for every1. its a community and all communities (in the real world) have a structure for policing their members. Its only logical. This site should not be turned into a place for people to unleash their repressed emotions under a shadow of anonymity.

ProgrammingRe: What's The Prospect For Self Taught Programmers In Naija by kodewrita(m): 1:31pm On May 26, 2010
@oretayo2k5, its not about the softwares. its about what you want to do.
Do you want to design software for people to use off the web like ms word or
do you want to create websites
do you want to write applications that do fancy animations like shockwave files.

for starters, to learn how simple text can make computers do stuff, I would ask you to learn HTML (its not a programming language and you can use that as a stepping stone). Javascript would be the next logical step and then PHP and from there into C and/or Java. I am just drawing an easy path for you. HTML is really great because you dont need special software to start. all you need is an ebook on HTML, Notepad and your internet explorer.

Its fun and its all about making this blinking device called the computer bow to your will.

@nenyenwato I can imagine how stressful a bank can be. I spent time there and I can tell you there are few fond memories except for missing the people I worked with.

Its even more dangerous for a young marriage. Little time to develop the intimacy they need.
