1Sharon: What the Nigerian government won't do, another government will 😂
@1Sharon.
Indeed, Nigeria has to set the right foundation for the adoption of global standards of financial accountability in all Nigerian-affiliated organisations just like we have in other foreign jurisdictions.
Of course there'll be some resistance from a large section of the Nigerian clergymen and the few lemmings among their followers will naturally use the FEAR FACTOR to emphasize that the government OR any regulatory agency officials will go to "hellfire" for trying to "fight God." Just the usual mass psychology used right from medieval times. The government must never back down but continue to EMPHASIZE on the several global regulatory best practices to BLOCK financial leakages and reduce financial crimes like the one you have posted here from the UK on your insightful thread.
Last but NOT least, financial accountability MUST be a top priority whether in the government space, family space, business space, or religious space in order to gravitate away from the annoying label of "significant underachievers."
From the day of car deposit to the day of car collection... How many days will it take you to complete the conversion of a saloon car OR any vehicle for that matter to a CNG-enabled vehicle?
Second, are CNG refill stations gonna be readily available for refills if you want to drive a saloon car from Lagos to the far-Northern state of Kano and back again to Lagos?
GAZZUZZ: …Directs mandatory procurement of CNG-powered vehicles
PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has banned members of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, from purchasing petrol dependent vehicles.
The President has also directed the mandatory procurement of compressed-natural-gas-powered vehicles by all government ministries, departments, and agencies.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement on Monday said that the directive was in line with Tinubu’s commitment to ensure energy security, drive utility, and cut high fuel costs.
According to the statement, “The President’s directive is also in furtherance of Nigeria’s effort to transition to cleaner energy as CNG-enabled vehicles have been adjudged to produce lower emissions, even as they present a more affordable alternative for Nigerian energy consumers.”
Addressing members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, President Tinubu affirmed that there is no turning back in the energy reforms initiated by his administration.
“This nation will not progress forward if we continue to dance on the same spot. We have the will to drive the implementation of CNG adoption across the country, and we must set the example as public officials in leading the way to that prosperous future that we are working to achieve for our people. It starts with us, and in seeing that we are serious, Nigerians will follow our lead,” the President stated.
It further stated, “The President further directed the rejection of all memos brought by members of FEC seeking the purchase of traditional petrol-dependent vehicles, tasking the affected members of the council to go back and diligently seek value-driven procurement’s of CNG-compliant vehicles.
“The President remains committed to effectively harnessing the nation’s gas potential, alleviating the burden of high transportation costs on the masses while enhancing the standard of living of all Nigerians.”
officialwdhtv: Nigerian singer Cynthia Morgan has being apprehended by the Nigerian Police Force for allegedly persistently harassing and cyberstalking His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince of the Benin Kingdom.
Men of the Edo State Police Command have reportedly arrested popular singer, Cynthia Morgan, for cyberstalking Benin crown prince, Ezelekhae Ewuare.
The singer was said to have been apprehended on Monday after she was alleged of cyberstalking the prince since 2020 while making claims of him appearing in her dreams.
This development was made known in an Instagram post by an Edo-based blogger, @Edopride, who shared a video of the singer being apprehended and escorted into a car from her house.
The blogger also shared a copy of the petition the prince sent to state Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye titled, “Defamation, cyberstalking and harassment of Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare by Cynthia Ikponmwenosa Morgan” dated May 4, 2024.
It read, “We act for Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare, hereinafter referred to as ‘Our Client,’ and on whose instructions we now write you concerning the above matter in the manner appearing hereunder.
nlfpmod: Happening now: Opening ceremony of Nigerian Defence Academy British military advisory training team instructors workshop with a theme "Human security, leadership and strategic communication in operation" holding at the Nigerian defence academy officers mess and golf club.
Those young British military officers are spotting beards and sideburns.
I think the cleanshaven look is more preferable especially for the Nigeria military men.
WantsandMore: The oil bound for China was part of a $400-million commodity-backed loan from China National Petroleum Corp, which Niger’s military junta agreed to at a seven interest rate and repayment in oil for a period of 12 months, as reported by Bloomberg.
Jakumo: This is by far one of the most viscerally terrifying kidnapping accounts that I have ever read in recent times. For typical law-abiding citizens who have never contemplated harming another human being, it is impossible to visualize the depth of gleeful, sadistic evil that resides in the hearts of career criminals who injure, maim, and kill their victims as a matter of daily routine. This first-hand account of a kidnap ordeal provides a jarring insight that lays bare in stark relief the abject paralyzing horror movie that is Nigeria in 2024.
Surveillance drones are required for deployment by police formations all over the Nigerian federation. With a round-trip mission range of well over ten miles, a used $500 DJI Mavic 2 Pro fitted with a new $200 extra-range battery sold online by Ali Express, could be issued to EVERY police station in the federation, after adequate laptop-based simulator training has been given to the drone operators. With this $700 security investment in all or some of Nigeria's police stations, and with flight batteries charged at a centrally located solar-powered drone battery charging station in each town, the tide can very quickly be turned against the kidnap gangs now proliferating with alarming speed all over the Nigerian federation.
tonye33: These are area view pictures of some beautiful places in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Rivers State have been blessed with good governors that have worked tirelessly for the State. On this thread, I'll be focusing on infrastructures
fergie001: I present to you the brand new Attorney-General of our dear State. Why are we bringing you at this very critical time, you have a big task. As it is today, in the local parlance, they say the Jungle don mature.
We will be setting up a panel of inquiry to investigate governance in the State so brace up, I am not going back on it.
confusedlady: Empty chest beating as usual. Watch video below as Peter Obi lies through his teeth, while the baying mob cheers him on,despite their knowing that the lamba master is a fraud and a liar.......
pandoragirigory: The master invited his bitter grieving obi to console him.
FOR THOSE OF YOU POSTING A BOTTLE OF BITTER GRIEVING OBI, GIVE IT TO YOUR PARENTS AND YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS YOU WANT TO DIE MISERABLE WITH KIDNEY FAILURE.
SonofElElyonRet: She didn't mention name of the estate... only eti osa. How do we know it's not just skit for publicity? If it's true it's sad but no facts in this video.. just a woman crying
These are exactly my thoughts which I also posted right on this thread earlier. That video of the young crying lady looks badly staged to me. She had NO personal name... NO estate name. Intelligence agencies MUST step in to investigate this video and drag this lady out of where she's hibernating.
Glimpsetv: A woman has shared a heartbreaking account of how the house they just purchased in February is being marked for demolition in May. According to the woman, they have only stayed in the house for just 2 months. Sharing the heartbreaking news online with tears, she said, "All the hard work, all the sleepless nights, everything… if you're in Lagos, you know how much properties in Eti-Osa cost. Each time my son sees me crying, he would always ask why I am crying, 'Mummy, you have been crying.' How do I explain to our son? How? What do I tell my children? Please, watch the short video and listen.
This is indeed heartbreaking. What is your take on this? Please feel free to drop your thoughts in the comment section.
FIRST off, can the OP or whoever made the extremely annoying voiceover or commentary in this video to STOP using that fake American accent that CANNOT pronounce Eti-Osa and other Nigerian words properly.
Please use your Nigerian accent to do the commentaries NEXT time NOT this crappy American wannabe accent.
Second, the so-called short video of that young lady crying does NOT give us her name and at a stage, it looked like this was staged. If this is true, then the guy who sold the house will have to explain why he or she sold the house knowing full well that the house has been served years back before NOW with an order for contravening the building code of Lagos State.
In any event, DUE diligence is key. Investigate every land purchases you want to make anywhere in Nigeria. Period.
Kobojunkie: It is the same reason people join cults and gangs. Does not make it an OK reason or thing to do.
2. I couldn't even get myself to an incompetent boss. Na GO wey I know say dey scam me live I go come dey bow to? I would rather lightning strike me down if that ever happened!
Your first paragraph is succinctly stated.
If you can remember, back in the early 1990s, there was this standoff between U.S. Federal Agents and members of the Branch Davidian sect in Waco, Texas who were all armed to the teeth. They refused to surrender and when troops moved in, gun shots got fired from all sides and this was shown live on CNN and select cable TV stations.
The bolded last paragraph of yours really cracked me up right here...
"You would rather lightning strikes you down." I know you're speaking metaphorically though... but you sounded funny with that lightning analogy.
You know what? I've actually been struck by some lightning while in my Uni days. I felt the electric shock discharge into my body from my head after a bright flash of white light struck overhead when it had just started drizzling. "I had to run right back into my flat with the speed of Ben Johnson on anabolic steroids." The cosmic forces seemed to have been in alignment with me that thundery, wet evening. It was just so surreal that I survived the situation.
Kobojunkie: I have heard something like this before, and I think it is just as ridiculous even reading this now. How can a human being voluntarily enslave himself under another human whose state of awareness is lower than his? For what purpose or gain or reason is there church attendance?
To be honest... It's ridiculous like you said but then again, there's a thought process behind this.
Well publicized, credible research by Sociologists in the U.S. actually shows that MOST folks who go to church do so because of the communalism it brings... Or to put it another way the social network and friendships that exist at the church level. A vast number would have stayed back at home to do their worship or bible studies but they choose to go out because the human animal is a social creature and ALSO a creature of habit.
So, folks have to be be CLEARLY intentional if they want to break that social routine or rut of being subservient to one so-called religious head or a GO who you know deep down in your subconscious that you are better than in terms of balance and knowledge.
1Sharon: Kildare pastor convicted on 87 charges, including theft of €125,000
Ebenezer Oduntan, former pastor of Redeemed Christian Church, passed five times more than declared income through accounts.
A former pastor of a Christian church based in Kildare has been convicted of a range of theft charges, involving more than €125,000, as well as multiple breaches of company law and deception.
As well as stealing money, Ebenezer Oduntan, former pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) City of David, ran an elaborate fraud, generating payments from the Revenue Commissioners.
Mr Oduntan, Curragh Grange, Newbridge, Co Kildare, has now been convicted of all 87 charges he faced.
When his bank accounts were analysed as part of a criminal investigation into his finances, he was found to have passed five times more than his declared income through his accounts for the years 2012-2018.
His trial concluded with guilty verdicts on Wednesday at Naas Circuit Court after a three-week hearing. He was convicted of nine company law offences, 73 counts of theft and five counts of deception.
Mr Oduntan’s trial was told he stole church funds, including cheques made payable to cash and cheques of up to €20,000 made payable to him personally. The Corporate Enforcement Authority (CEA) also said Mr Oduntan ran “an elaborate fraud” involving the inflation of donations made to the church, which resulted in the Revenue Commissioners reimbursing more than it should have under the Charitable Donation Scheme.
He was investigated by the CEA, the Republic’s company law enforcement agency, and put on trial. During that three-week trial, evidence was heard from witnesses from the Charities Regulator, Companies Registration Office, Revenue Commissioners, AIB, Bank of Ireland, Life Credit Union, as well as from the current pastor and a number of members of the RCCG.
The trial also heard from a senior forensic accountant and member of the Garda seconded to the CEA for the purposes of carrying out criminal investigations. The CEA forensic accountant described a “total absence of standard financial controls and corporate governance procedures” within the church, which is a limited company, under Mr Oduntan.
The church he once led claims to operate on “a mandate to preach the gospel of Jesus to all people and nations, and its members to live a lifestyle of holiness”. It also defines itself as “a bible believing church under the direction and guidance of the Holy Spirit”.
The church is based at Naas Enterprise Park, Naas, Co Kildare, and at one point had a membership of more than 100 families, many of whom were the source of the donations from which Mr Oduntan benefited.
Midway through his trial, Mr Oduntan pleaded guilty to nine charges of furnishing false information to the Companies Registration Office, five counts of deception and 19 counts of theft. The jury in the case, before Judge Martina Baxter, on Wednesday returned guilty verdicts on all 54 outstanding charges.
After the verdicts were returned, Mr Oduntan was remanded in custody by Judge Baxter and was due to appear before the court again on April 10th
This is why religious groups must NEVER be allowed to go off the trail. They MUST be monitored in terms of financial accountability and also ensure that they do NOT continue to use elements of scaremongering and mass psychology on their gullible members back in Nigeria or within the huge Diaspora communities in the UK, the U.S., Canada, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, etc.
Kobojunkie: 1. You did say you have known Adeboye from back in the day, did you not?
2. I absolutely detest the many lies they feed people using the mentions of the God of Israel and His Son, Jesus Christ. If these men never hid these lies behind those mentions, you and I would certainly not be having this conversation at all.
3. Not ever! I really hate the falsehood and the fact that a majority of Nigerians have been rendered fools, afraid of even their shadows, by it.
4. God of Israel, and His Son, Jesus Christ, never sent any followers out to run businesses using their names on this earth. So, the spending should be done according to business regulations. This man's under-handed use of the name of God to deceive his followers into believing that accountability is a sin against the God of Israel is nothing short of evil and that is antiChrist.
@Kobojunkie,
I meant I've never met him one-on-one but being that he's a prominent man, I've read about his journeys in life and watched him speak online and on TV.
You indeed made some valid points in your submissions.
I used to be an Xtian but my level of awareness has since evolved beyond that level of consciousness due to my vast reading or exposures to a lot of global literature on comparative religion, the study of bible subscripts (the very tiny letters at the bottom of each bible page), extra-biblical book sources and Near Eastern archaeology and history right from the 1980s. So, I gradually grew tired of some con artists who used music and mass psychology effects laced with church doctrines to lay siege to the ever gullible folks. Nobody can deceive you unless you allow it. These are some of the specifics I've learned over the years about the male-dominated religions and how the Kings of old and the religious priests worked hand-in-hand to manipulate their people through scaremongering and the masses then act like lemmings even right up to this 21st century.
However, there are folks even in churches whose states of awareness might even be higher than their so-called pastors but they have to go to church based on their current levels of awareness and I will not judge them.
Kobojunkie: 1. I have family and friends who are members of that church actually. But again, the situation here is this. Adeboye has been, for over 40 years, against accountability given he never did see fit to implement these ideas before the request came in from one of the so-called billionaires. Was it an old man going senile for all those 40 years?
2. I don't need podcasts to teach me anything when it comes to Scripture. I based my belief in God on what is written. Your Adeboye and other gods of men have nothing to do with the God of Israel — YHWH — or even His Son, Jesus Christ. Ezekiel 34 vs 1 - 31 & John 10 vs 7 - 16.
Hang on... He is NOT "my Adeboye." I'm NOT his member or even an Xtian like I indicated earlier. I'm ONLY interested in fact-checks here because of the fake news and embellishments of stories that exist in cyberspace and offline these days.
You seem to have MORE than an extreme disdain for these Pastor folks... You've been flogging them real hard right on this thread. I bet one of them may have dealt heavily with you back in the day in ways that are indescribable. *Smirk*
I see your key points in your first paragraph though. I can understand where you're coming from.
Last but not least, accountability must be embedded when it comes to the spending of funds in religious institutions to avoid these folks becoming too much of demigods.
Kobojunkie: Adeboye has been, for over 40 years, against accountability given he never did see fit to implement these ideas before the request came in from one of the so-called billionaires. Was it an old man going senile for all those 40 years?
2. Given his gong-ho stance from about his beginnings where the issue of tithes and offering is concerned, I don't see what you hope to discover that is different from that which his actions have established over the last 40 years of his time in RCCG.
Have you ever been a member of his RCCG church in those 40 years for you to have known all these specifics with reference to LACK of accountability? Surely, there was never anytime he spoke with a gong-ho attitude or condescending manner like this current alleged comments.
Out of curiosity, I once listened to series of YouTubes and podcasts done by Ifedayo Olarinde (also known as Daddy Freeze) and another man about why tithes and offerings are an Old Testament thing and not a New Testament thing and these dudes were very compelling based on their use of logical reasoning and comparative analysis to show that it's a modern way of Pastors fleecing their largely unthinking congregations.
Kobojunkie: So, even when Adeboye speak still out of the abundance of the same heart he has been speaking from for over 40 years, you no go believe am? You would rather look for flimsy things to blame like Old age and the lot? Interesting!
I can see you're all over the thread, shooting down other view points.
I made myself very CLEAR about my repulsion towards the alleged comments by Adeboye in my post that you quoted. You deserve to be sent to the naughty corner, tbh.
The reference to old age in men (and women) isn't flimsy. As folks get older and above 70 years of age, the stem cells in the human body begin to diminish drastically thereby leading to the elderly folks' physical and mental reflexes deteriorating. This is likely gonna happen to you too down the road when you might start using a walking aid and also begin to forget where you left the car keys or the bedroom keys, or get irritable over little things with others.
Second, though NOT an Xtian church person, I've known Adeboye from back in the day to be a well-read and articulate man who doesn't talk flippantly. So, the alleged comments alluded to him gloating about the financial setbacks or difficulties of some billionaires who are have now left his church is distasteful tbh.
I would like to see the YouTube video or audio recording of this Adeboye's published newspaper speech in order to be convinced that he is NOT being misquoted or his comments are NOT being embellished like is common these days in sections of the mainstream media and online platforms due to lack of due diligence or fact-checkings.
franugo: You suspect? Until you have concrete proof, this remains the preacher's speech.
There's NO video or audio evidence or recording posted here, so, I would rather take what is posted online or offline these days with a pinch of salt. Too many times, folks have been fooled by fake news or embellished stories even in the mainstream print and electronic media.
But then I've already CLEARLY stated my thoughts on this issue and I'm done.
