Symphony007: Governor Wike Replies to APC Threats: Rivers People will never support violence
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has told President Muhammadu Buhari that Rivers people will never support violence as being orchestrated by leaders of Rivers APC.
Speaking during an interactive session between President Muhammadu Buhari and traditional rulers of Rivers State in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Governor Wike said leaders who have imported war songs will not succeed.
The Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi at the APC Presidential Campaign Rally, sang a war song in Igbo Language, threatening to unleash violence on Rivers State during the forthcoming elections.
"Rivers State does not believe in violence and we will not support any dance for violence.
"Those who sing other people's song for violence, they know what they achieve. They know what they gain", he said.
Governor Wike assured Nigerians that the evil plots to fuel violence by the APC will fail.
"I want to assure the President that Rivers State is a peaceful state . It will never be a violent state. I will not support violence and Rivers people will not support violence", he said.
In his address, Chairman of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja urged President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that security agencies act professionally during the forthcoming elections. He said that security agencies should not join the fray and complicate the issues of electoral violence.
The Rivers Traditional Rulers lamented the closure of the seaports in Rivers State which have negatively affected the economy of the area. They called for restructuring of the country so that all parts of the Federation will grow at their own pace and control their resources.
The Traditional Rulers called for free, fair and credible polls in Rivers State. They appealed to the President to check the tide of violence in the country.
President Muhammadu Buhari stated that law enforcement agencies would be asked to respect Nigerians and that elections will be free and fair.
The President said nobody will be allowed to intimidate people. He added that the snatching of ballot boxes will be discouraged.
Buhari said that his administration has achieved the three cardinal points of his 2015 campaign. He said that security, economy and fight against corruption have witnessed improvements.

^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ Nyesom Wike himself makes a LOT of hate speech! He is a very insidious person, acts thuggish and very garrulous. I read he has not paid pensioners and is owing students on scholarship for 4 years now. Gosh!
I've seen him several times on AIT making inciting comments at Rivers State PDP campaigns while also demarketing Nigeria in the presence of diplomats who pay visits to his office by questioning the integrity of INEC and the security forces.
I ALSO saw him where he insulted President Buhari And said openly on TV that his government is the worse ever - which to me is a BIG lie!
Wike behaves like someone who has no love in him with his unguarded comments!
On the other hand, I think Wike has transformed PH... like the video of Garrison road that I saw and it was beautiful. In terms of garrulousness and RAISING FALSE ALARMS... Nyesom Wike is very notorious for that!

Every jobless Nigerian man is a businessman. Every Nigerian Yahoo Yahoo is a businessman. Every 419 and drug lord is a businessman. Every layabout, rogue, kidnapper and criminal is a businessman. For every dubious person who doesn’t have an honest definition of what he does for a living; it’s easy to hide under the guise of doing business or he calls himself a businessman.
Let us take a look at these scenarios; they are real life stories of men who claimed they are businessmen and had beautiful wives they slept with every night but these women never knew what they did for a living. They all told their wives they were businessmen.
Act 1 Scene1
It was five days to Christmas and everyone was excited. John was super excited; he boasted to everyone he would be spending his Christmas in Dubai. He bought drinks for his friends and he even threw a loud party. His wife packed his bag for his trip to Dubai and everyone knew this Christmas would be different. Three days to Christmas, John got a call and after the call he told his wife he would be traveling to Ondo to a seal deal. His wife expected him to return the next day but he didn’t and all his phones were switched off. A day before Christmas, John’s corpse was splashed on the covers of all national newspapers and beside him was a Ghana must go bag. John was one of the armed robbers that were shot dead during a bank robbery in Ondo State. For John’s wife, that year’s Christmas was different.
Act 1 Scene 2
Felix married his secondary school sweetheart and both were inseparable. They have two teenage sons and the last child, a girl, was in primary six. Felix was a hustler but he couldn’t hold a job for too long. He traveled a lot out of the country. He has been to different countries but his wife wondered why he never took them on his trips. Felix had money and he spoilt his family silly. Few times, his wife would ask him what exactly he went to those countries for. He gave her reasons but she wasn’t convinced. On his last trip, he had told his wife and children they would be spending the summer holidays in Spain. They were excited. However, Felix never came back home. He called from jail in China once and wept bitterly. He is now on death row for doing drugs. His wife now sells fruits at the bus stop.
Although, these are real life stories but I know you are thinking I made them all up. If you think so, pick up your phone or laptop and goggle Evans (Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike) the alleged notorious billionaire kidnapper that was recently arrested and you will understand what I am talking about. The funniest thing is that, while you are searching you will also see pictures of his wife and kids popping up. If you want to read about his wife you can easily do so too and her pictures are placed by his. The woman claimed she didn’t know what he did for a living and I tell you it’s quite possible she didn’t. Some women don’t care, all they want is to spend money and they don’t want to know how the money is coming in. Gone are the days when a criminal commits an offence and he is the only one shamed or embarrassed. These days, everyone wants to know his parents, siblings, children and most especially, his wife. They want to know the mother of his kids; they want to know the woman who cooks for him and it’s very easy to do that, because almost everyone is on social media.
So, you see why you need to know what your husband does for a living because, if you don’t know, you will also be dragged into his mess. You shouldn’t just accept it when he says he is a businessman; probe him further on what kind of business he does. If he says he’s a trader at Alaba Market, that’s not good enough, go and see his shop. If he tells you he is into export and import, go and find out about his warehouse. What is he importing and exporting? When his is his next shipment coming into Nigeria? If he tells you he is sealing up a deal, find out what kind of deal it is and satisfy your conscience that he is not a drug baron.
If he tells you he is doing clearing and forwarding, what’s he clearing? Hope it’s not human parts? Did he tell you he’s a contractor? Find out the kind of contracts he is into. Pay him a surprise visit once in a while at his office and go with a cooler of Isala soup and fufu. Look around and see how genuine this business is, don’t be complacent.
If he gets into trouble today, you should know your life will never remain the same again and for life, your children will bear the shame and stigma. Forget the fact that he is posh and clean. Hard core criminals no longer look dirty and smelly. Some of them don’t even talk tough like we were made to believe and not all of them have bloodshot eyes. These days, there are men who look like gentlemen that are into crime.
In fact they wear crispy shirts and designer’s perfumes. They drive very posh cars and live in mansions, so if your husband has all these things, that doesn’t make him a saint. If you really love him and you are not just after his wealth, you should ask him what he does for a living.
All these women in these stories must have been suspicious at some point but they chose to keep quiet. I understand that being in love with someone can make you take many things for granted. But if you love him, you should tell him how uncomfortable you are about his movements though our society discourages wives from questioning their husband’s movement. Oh yes, a man has a right to know where his wife is going but a woman has no business knowing about her husband’s whereabouts.
She’ll ask “My dear where are you off to?” he’ll say “When did you start monitoring my movement?” Let me tell you bros, your wife has a right to know where you go to and who your friends are. She is not asking because she wants to police you, she’s only asking for security reasons and to protect you. It’s wrong to just pick your car keys and tell your wife, “I am coming?”
If she asks you whom you were speaking with on the phone, your duty as a husband is to tell her. Let your wife know your movement, it doesn’t make you less of a man! What if something bad happens to you afterwards? What if the police needs to do an investigation? Your wife will be the first person that would be called upon. But the funniest thing is that in this part of the world, many women just bear “Mrs.” and wear wedding bands but they are not close to their husbands. They are only flat mates.
Moreover, what do I expect from a society that thinks every man knows best because he has a third leg. Dear husbands, you should know that women have better hunches when there is trouble. A wife can smell evil from a distance. She can see through your friends and when she warns you about them, please listen. Don’t be carried away with the beer and pepper soup. Listen to your wife!
Of course, I can confidently say there are good men and I think I know a few of them and I celebrate you guys. Truth be told, I know that no sane woman will walk down the aisle with a criminal. But what happens when you find out years later you have been living a lie all these while?
My fellow women, we need to start asking our spouses questions. Is he living above his means when you know how much he earns? Check it up. That cash he brought home, where did he get it? Don’t be afraid to ask him. Who and what is your knight in shining amour at night? Do you know where he is at the moment?
If you love your man ask questions. If you don’t, he will get you into trouble and shatter your lives. Go probe him! Make him uncomfortable with your questions. It’s high time you stopped listening to all his rooster and bull stories. Get to know your man! If you love your man ask questions.
Become an FBI in your home, I have given you the license but be discreet for security reasons and you should make good decisions based on your findings. Good luck!

^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^ I'm just seeing this post... except if the guy in the picture stole something and was made to parade the streets... I DON'T see why anybody has to intrude into the love life of 2 consenting adults!

Where is Aisha Buhari their mother? In za oza room?
^^^^^ ^^^^^ She's right HERE as of today...
1] Wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha on Tuesday in Abuja, said that though her husband maybe seen as a hard man, he is compassionate and very loving.
Aisha who heads the All Progressives Congress (APC) Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Team stated this at the National Union of Road Transport Workers National (NURTW) National Headquarters in Abuja. She led some members of the team to the union headquarters to inform its leadership what the Buhari-led administration was doing to impact on the lives of the people.
2] The First Lady, Aisha Buhari, struck the 4+4 pose in affirmation of her husband’s earlier pose, which could also pass for a campaign for another four years in office. Mrs. Buhari struck the pose during the inauguration of Women and Youth for 2019 Presidential Campaign Team held at the State House, Abuja.
Also joined in the 4+4 pose are Dr Hajo Sani, Hadiza Dahiru Abba and Alh Usman Halilu Ahmed
Afamed: Feeding 4 wives and 29 children of Atiku in Aso rock will definitely take Nigeria to another recession. No to Atikulooting
^^^^^ ^^^^^ "Feeding 4 wives and 29 children of Atiku in Aso rock..."
Atiku will further institutionalise corruption and all the current corruption cases in court under the current PMB administration will be compromised! This is how James Ibori's case was compromised by the PDP and the judiciary in Nigeria, ONLY for the corrupt Delta-born politician to get convicted in the UK court of law alongside his mistress and other corrupt associates. 2 INEC officials were convicted 2 weeks ago for collecting millions of naira from Diezani Allison-Madueke to compromise the 2015 Presidential elections!
I believe in PMB/Osinbajo because they will be more determined and ruthless with corruption and the economy will further get boosted in 2019... with Dangote Refinery in Lekki, Lagos coming on stream later in 2019 with 650,000 barrels per day production.
OBJ'S NEGATIVE BOOK COMMENTS ABOUT ATIKU ABUBAKAR'S CORRUPT WAYS BELOW:
dochenaj: Nigerian police are masters in extra judicial killings. Not all the escaped criminals really escaped, most of them have been killed and buried in shallow graves by police.
^^^^^ ^^^^^ ... in shallow graves?! You folks distrust the police so much in Nigeria.
Bbsharon: It was a cold and chilly night as it was about to rain Friday 14th of April, 2017. Good friday to be precise. Exam had just finished and most people have their bags packed ready to go home. Mine too was packed and I was meant to go home that day as I was done with exams the previous day but stayed back because I had something to resolve before leaving for home.
I stay off campus and the security there cannot be compared to staying on the campus as we are left with a fragile looking young man at our gate who poses as the security we supposedly have. My roomate, a girl from the next room and I sat outside at the entrance of the door gisting and talking about how we missed home and could not wait to leave in the morning. The electricity supply was off, few minutes later the light was restored and we closed the door and hurried inside. It was few minutes past 10pm and the roads were quiet already as it's the usual in the city of Ile-Ife especially when it is about to rain. The shops closes early and the commercial bus and bikes all pack up for the day too with only few left working.
The rain started with full force accompanied with frightening lightning and thunder sounds, as usual power was siezed immediately. We put on the lamp while I played some songs from my pnone. Not longer than 10 minutes of entering inside we heard a noisy bang on the door and we thought it was our playful neighbour who would always bang on our door jokingly as a way of greeting, we laughed about it and continued talking.
Not untill we heard someone scream at the passage as if being slapped or so, at first we were not sure of what it was not untill it occured to me that was our neighbour's voice as he made some sstruggling sound, we quickly switched off the lamps and phones and lay down quietly, that moment we knew something was wrong but was not sure yet. With fear we stayed quiet as the noise continued and then our door was being banged again, we were too afraid and decided not to open. The window was hit forcefully breaking the luvas then they tore the net and pointed a gun inside the room to come open the door.
At this point we need no explanation that they were thieves, we were so scared that I ran to hide in the wardrobe while my roomate had to go open the door. They barged in pushing my roomate aside asking
" how many una dey for this room ? " my roomate answered three and they could see just two people, at that moment I almost peeied on my body inside the wardrobe, I quickly put my phone on silence and sent a message to my class group page of what was happening and how we neeeded help either from school security or the police.
" where the third person dey ?"
"She dey inside wardrobe"
My roomate answered in a shaky voice, in swift motion I quickly jumped down from the wardrobe trembling, the guy tried hiting me while I dodged. They demanded for our phones and laptops and even money I wonder what kind of manner they expected to get from student, one even asked where was the jewellery my fiancee gave me I had to beg him that I don't have any with tears in my eyes.
We gave them our phones and the little money we had with us to go home the next day. When they were done getting and picking all what they could they left and proceeded to robbing other rooms consecutively, then we heard a gunshot and screamed thinking they had killed someone or so. Some minutes later we heard a police siren from afar, the police officers came later on when the thieves had gone shouting we should come and open the gate for them, some guys in the hostel summon up courage to go open for them and there they saw the security guy tied up and Injured seriously on the head.
We later learnt the guys were in a lady's room who stays alone and one of them wanted to rape her against the other one's opinion which led to an arguement and he shot his colleague on the leg with his bones and blood scattering all over the girl's room, realising they were working against themselves they left and also on hearing the police siren from afar. It was a terrible night for us as we could no longer sleep that night as we were still scared and also answering police questions and allowing. The next day I left for home as fast as I could. Few days later I heard from home the guy that was shot had been caught and after few weeks they said he has escaped and they could not get any information from him, it was so frustrating and annoying to hear such from the police. Till today none of them have been caught.
^^^^^ ^^^^^ Gosh!... this took place in 2017 while you were an undergraduate? There are still lessons to be learned even as of 2019.
I felt a gut-wrenching, slight chill right up my spine while reading your experience... leading right up to how one of the robbers turned his gun on his partner in crime!
I'm glad you ladies were not brutally sexually assaulted by those sick armed robbers who could easily have passed on sexually transmitted diseases.
Some women/ladies are still suffering from the psychological trauma of being raped by armed robbers in front of their husbands and male relatives - leading to the breakup of the marriages because men naturally find this scenario very difficult to deal with.
This is the reason why I have invested in good portable tasers and other portable security gadgets to avoid this kind of scenario... via self-defence. I'm waiting to zap the living-day-lights out of any criminal that dares me.
Staying off-campus can be very risky as well if you stay in a place that is not very secure... I read that LAUTECH female students have been raped off campus just like this.
There was a time when rape was very common on the UNILAG campus but I learned it has been eradicated as of now based on the active support of the previous VCs.
They put a good fight but the numbers are not just adding up for them.
The whole SE just 7M PVC collected. Katsina alone collected 3.1M PVC. Add that to Kaduna 3.6M ,the residence state of the president and the election is over.
ATIKU had lost the election even before the campaign started.
He knows it.
Wike Knows it.
PDP Governors Know it....But they don't just want to roll over for the APC for the sake of competition.

Gerrard59: Link to where this representative made the bold? For emphasis sake, a cow in The Netherlands produces on average 10, 000 litres of milk daily compared to Nigeria's less than 10 litres. In the dairy industry, the amount of milk produced by a cow determines how good and productive a cow is. So I seriously doubt a representative from a firm as Friesland will say so.
^^^^^ ^^^^^ @Gerrard59
You made a mistake, no single cow produces 10,000 litres of milk daily anywhere in the world.
I know offhand that some hybrid cows such as the Holstein Friesians from the Netherlands produce 40 litres daily on average.
The cows are milked three times per day with the Holsteins averaging 40 litres per day; Ayrshires averaging 50 litres per day and the Jerseys averaging 22 litres per day.
Holstein Friesians (often shortened to Holsteins in North America, while the term Friesians is often used in the UK) are a breed of dairy cattle originating from the Dutch provinces of North Holland and Friesland, and Schleswig-Holstein in Northern Germany and Jutland. They are known as the world's highest-production dairy animals.
The Dutch and German breeders bred and oversaw the development of the breed with the goal of obtaining animals that could best use grass, the area's most abundant resource. Over the centuries, the result was a high-producing, black-and-white dairy cow.
^^^^ ^^^^ This is a very informative thread... but on the other hand...
Based on OBJ's comments about Atiku Abubakar in his book indicating the darkside of Atiku, he is NOT the one needed for Nigeria. The corruption allegations againsts him and the comments by OBJ that he believes in marabouts is encouraging. OBJ knows Atiku very well and he is NOT the BEST for Nigeria!
The discredited OBJ too seems to have forgotten that he wrote about the corrupt, dark side of Atiku and then turned around and started making endorsing him again! These politicians are jokers!
A totally different set of people are needed in Nigeria at all political levels from 2023.
There are many more candidates on the ballot this year and so the space for you to place your fingerprint has reduced. Therefore, voters are advised to vote with their index finger, rather than their thumb. The ink might spill into another space if you use your thumb and that will invalidate your vote.

^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^ Brilliant video post! It's good you took into consideration the health warning on using plates, aluminium foils and tins.
I've also ditched the use of plastic containers used for bottled table water or for soft drinks because of the carcinogenic effects of the reaction of the plastic and water.
I've never eaten this kind of oven-baked "moin moin." I would love to try it out soon by following the recipe using a petri-dish.
On the other hand... just a quick one: The correct spelling is "Moin Moin" [Not moi moi]. "Moin Moin" without the letter "Y" is actually a later-day contraction of the classic spelling "Moyin Moyin." Moyin Moyin [Mo Eyin]... "Eyin" means teeth in the Yoruba language.
Moyin Moyin [Mo Eyin] means in Yoruba "to stick/gum to the teeth."

The University of Calabar graduate, who worked with M-Net, passed away in a bus accident, on Thursday night, and was buried on Monday. . Abang was co-writing content for Tinsel, a popular Nigerian soap opera, before his death. He was also the head writer of the series, BattleGround. Other projects he worked on includes ‘Forbidden’, ‘Hush’, ‘Hustle’, ‘Jemeji’, ‘E.V.E’, and ‘Ajoche’.
Xslaze3xd: Good morning Sir, I saw your mentions last night but I was too tired to reply,
1.) The phone was not actually stolen, On that fateful morning, I was comimg back from a remote village located deep in the Hills of Hawul, the road was very rough and coupled with the fact that I was carrying much load, It was when I got to town that I realised the phone fell from my pocket, the phone was off because I forgot to charge it the night before, and during the course of the journey, I entered two Keke Napep, so I could not pin point which one it fell in or where I lost it, so I moved on. I have started saving up little funds and I hope to get a low budget smart phone by the end of Febuary. Thanks very much for your concern, it is very nice of you sir.
2.) Another prominent example is Sani Abacha, a Kanuri from Borno. He was born in Kano and many people actually think he is from Kano, His son Muhammad Abacha even contested for Governor of Kano state in 2011, they are actually from Borno. That is why whenever I come across a person from Northeast and he tells me he is Hausa, I will tell him to go and ask his parent's his root. Yes, Ibrahim Shekarau is Bura, Ndume is Gwoza.
3.) No, I am not in a military institution although I applied the Nigerian Defence Academy on 3 occasions, I was unsuccessful. I am currently studying in Maiduguri but the military is my first love, It is a passion and I pray for the day I will join the Armed Forces. I will be heading to Barasal Village today, it is close to Buratai. A village with beautiful hills. Nature is awesome.

Good to read your post! I'm sorry... I didn't see this post before now I don't know how I missed it.
OK... I get it. I wish you the BEST in your university studies in UNIMAID. A guy from the Western part of Nigeria who also lives in Lagos read Accountancy and finished from UNIMAID recently with a good grade and was featured in Saturday Punch. So I believe that security-wise Maiduguri is quite OK and all will be fine with you... till you get into the Armed Forces as you've wished.
My mother's sister and her son [who is my cousin] were in the Medical Corp of the Nigerian Army. My aunt retired as a Major and her son was to be promoted from a Captain to Major when he passed on around 2005 from a brief illlness despite the fact that he survived ECOMOG in Liberia and was on tour in Bakassi and other fighting/peacekeeping spots.
I love the Armed Forces so much because of the discipline.
2] About your phone, just make sure you install free Android phone tracking devices on your phone so that you can use Google Maps to trace the location of the missing phone or you contact the police and the service provider who can use the IMEI Number to track it.
You can check YouTube for more information on how to install these devises in case of NEXT TIME.
You can go for Itel A22 [which is a 4GLTE] and costs about N25,000-N26,000.
3] For a laptop, you can get to the Website of "Locate My Laptop.com" for information on how to track your missing laptop as well and make sure you have it passworded. I use THESE same tactics and strategies to protect my mobile devices from theft.

Igalas are a Chapter of Yorubas that have been greatly influenced by Igbos by virtue of a shared border in the south (Southern Igalas), and by some middle belt tribes in the Northern areas (Core Igalas). My final hypothesis. like seriously I understood the song 100%
Would you mind telling us the origin of the Igala people?
"Talking about the origin of the Igala people, a sizeable group migrated from Wukari in Taraba State from where they came to Benue along the River Benue and continued very close to the confluence at a place called Amagede by River Benue and slightly down from Amagede downwards to Idah and they settled there. And there, they met a sizeable population of the Yorubas and the Benins and to some extent, some Igbo. So the migrant population from Wukari merged with them and produced a language called Igala as a people."
I posted the Punch Web link at the beginning of the thread on page 1.
I find the YouTube video of the Igala song to be fascinating. Sounds Yoruboid. I know that during the Igala settlement/conquest of the present northern Ibolands in Enugu and Anambra States, they inflenced Nsukka by introducing the red chieftaincy cap that you see in Iboland today. It came via Igalaland.
It is not surprising NOW that many of WORDS you find in Ibo that sound like Yoruba/Yoruboid came in via the Igala influence... such as Ewure in Yoruba or Ewu in Ibo, Akuko Yoruba or Okuko in Ibo, Okuta in Yoruba or Okwute in Ibo, Egungun in Yoruba or Egwugwu in Ibo... and more! The Oworos [Yorubas of Lokoja] are also not far off in geography between the Igala and Ibo the sector.

When Galadima accused Buhari of suffering from dementia because he wrongly presented Gubernatorial candidate in one of their campaigns. Unfortunately for Galadima, he made mistake by saying Festus Keyamo was once a PDP member. So, Keyamo asked if he can also be alleged of dementia because of the mistake he made.
naptu2: Monarchs in Nigeria usually have more than one throne in their throne room. In fact, most monarchs have 3 thrones in their throne room.
If another monarch visits the palace, for example, if the Emir of Kano visits the Oba of Lagos, then the Emir will sit on one of the other thrones.
There are usually 3 thrones because, according to protocol, when the president visits a state, he usually visits the most prominent traditional ruler in that state and the governor, as his host, usually accompanies him on that visit. So that traditional ruler would usually sit on the biggest throne (in the middle), the president would sit on his right and the governor on his left.
However, in recent months there have been some crazy threads on Twitter and Nairaland in which some people have alleged that the monarch "left his throne" for another person and that the monarch has therefore "desecrated Yoruba culture". So, for example, when Pastor Adeboye visited the Ooni of Ife, some people posted a close up picture of Adeboye sitting on a throne and claimed that the Ooni "left his throne for Adeboye".
Similarly, this morning someone posted a close up picture of Buhari sitting on a throne at Iga Idungaran and claimed that the Oba of Lagos "left his throne for Buhari".
Another entry from Australia, the venom in a Taipan is strong enough to kill up to 12,000 guinea pigs. The venom clots the victim’s blood, blocking arteries or veins. It is also highly neurotoxic. Before the advent of an antivenin, there are no known survivors of a Taipan bite, and death typically occurs within an hour. Even with successful administration of antivenin, most victims will have an extensive stay in intensive care. It has been likened to the African Black Mamba in morphology, ecology and behavior.
^^^^^ ^^^^^ This is the deadliest snake on earth... the Australian Inland Taipan has a very powerful venom.
Watching the Discovery Channel has made me to be cautious with snakes. They even climb walls and trees... if you like hide in a tree some snakes will follow you up there!
Inland Taipan The Most Venomous Snake in The World | Australian Snakes | Documentary.
The figure represents the number of confirmed deaths from three snake treatment centres – General Hospital, Kaltungo, Ali Mega Pharmacy, Gombe and Comprehensive Medical Centre, Zamko, Plateau State.
A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria who visited the three medical outfits, met other victims in critical situations, with some of them left on bare floors as the doctors said they were helpless without the anti-venom.
The carpet viper accounts for 90 percent of the snake bites in Nigeria, and 60 percent of human snakebite fatalities - mostly farmers and young children, according to the Medical Journal of Therapeutics.
The carpet viper’s breeding season coincides with heavy rainfall during the annual monsoon season, driving it to seek shelter in higher, drier habitats to lay eggs. Farmers, most of whom harvest crops by hand, are at high risk from these aggressive snakes, whose potent hemotoxic venom make it the most dangerous snake in all Africa and, in terms of morbidity and mortality, the most dangerous snake in the world. Victims experience blistering, swelling, hemorrhaging and tissue damage that may result in necrosis.
jamace: I found out one astonishing thing about most of our influential politicians in Nigeria, they are all bunch of looters united for a single cause.
All they care about is money. Their interest is on how to dip their hands and loot from our treasury till there is no more left so the life of the people they govern will be miserable.
The life of Obasanjo of today is an echo of his life after retirement 1st October 1979. Obasanjo whom one of his ministers said could not boast of more than twenty thousand naira in his bank account in 1999, today is one of the richest former presidents in the world.
Obasanjo’s stupendous wealth is inversely proportional to the abject poverty that ravages Nigerians. Squalor swaggers on two legs in the country while the likes of Obasanjo make millions every day. Obasanjo’s investment ranges from oil, ethanol, hospitality business, farming, education and other businesses. The big question is: HOW DID HE ACQUIRE ALL THESE WEALTH?
OBASANJO’S FARM: Established since 1978 has been producing fresh agricultural products for almost 30 years. According to Chief Fani-kayode, a former special assistant to Obasanjo on public communications and one time minister of Aviation, Obasanjo’s farm makes an average of 30 million a month or 360 million per year. While in power, Obasanjo was so selfish that he wanted to be the richest farmer in Nigeria. He banned the importation of “Grandparent Stocks” (a variety of chickens), only his farm has the sole franchise for them. Obasanjo was the only one with authority to import and sell them to other poultry farmers in the country.
When Obasanjo became president in 1999, he could boast of only one farm in Ota and in Mambilla. By 2007, Obasanjo has developed farms in Ibadan, Iseyin, Lanlate, Igbo ora and Ibogun. Each of these farms boast of Chinese experts. Obasanjo was busy flying presidential jets to foreign countries in the guise of scouring for foreign investment not for Nigeria but for his own selfish self. He has the biggest cattle ranch and hatchery in Africa located at Igbo ora (Oyo state). He has big fish farms in Lanlate, Ota and a big poultry in Ibogun. He procured appropriate medical facilities to insulate his chickens from the influenza pandemic that ravaged many poultry farmers years back. Other poultry farmers, however lost almost all their chickens. Their president was so selfish he only procured medical facilities for his chickens. Just like GEJ, Obasanjo also don’t give a damn about the people he governs or their welfare.
Obasanjo made good for himself and his chickens while the masses he was governing as president have been wallowing at the lowest level of the global human development index. The chickens on his farm don’t feed on raw corn rather they feed on highly concentrated mineral fortified feeds. The ordinary man on the street of Tafawa-Balewa, Tilden-Fulani, Ningi, katagum, Zaki,(Bauchi state), Ajegunle, ketu, Agege,(Lagos state), Yelwa-shendam, Farin-gada, Unguwar-rogo, Unguwar-rimi, Gangare, Gada-Biu, Riyom,(Plateau state) find it hardly to afford a roasted corn or cooked corn. There is no chicken in Obasanjo’s farm that can be in want of water but the ordinary man in the street of Yemetu, Elekuro, Gege, Bere, Oje, (Oyo State), Tudun-wada, Zangon-kataf, panteka, Rigachuku, Soba, Gidan-waya, Jema’a, (Kaduna State) scoop water from gutters and brooks.
^^^^ ^^^^ Well said about the darkside of OBJ and other politicians jamace...! The exerpt on Atiku from Obasanjo's book is one such instance.
Obasanjo on Atiku:
"What I did not know, which came out glaringly later, was his parental background which was somewhat shadowy, his propensity to corruption, his tendency to disloyalty, his inability to say and stick to the truth all the time,a propensity for poor judgment, his belief and reliance on marabouts , his lack of transparency, his trust in money to buy his way out on all issues and his readiness to sacrifice morality, integrity, propriety truth and national interest for self and selfish interest"
Bbsharon: The staff located at Mopa Arubidi area of Ile-Ife stands at 5.5m tall and about 1.2m in circumference at the foot and is believed to have been his staff while he was alive i.e his walking stick. Interesting The staff also served as his shield when he goes to war as he used it to wade off arrows and bullets from attackers. The staff has different markings engraved by the side from the top to the bottom with bullets holes and arrows gotten during battle. To this day before any Ooni in Ife emerges he must pay homage to the Oranmiyan staff with series and procedures of different sacrifices to carry out and also the traditional Olojo festival that takes place in September must be done yearly in honour of Oranmiyan by the Ooni.
After several battles Oranmiyan finally returned to Ife to become king and sent the reigning king into exile, being a great warrior the reigning king gave room for him to be king . After a while of reigning as king he called his warriors together and informed them he was going on a journey to visit his sons scattered across different kingdoms but he would be going alone as he was not going on a war mission this time around . The warriors were confused and terrified of being left alone, they showed their grievance and poured out their fears. They said
‘’ what if you leave and a great war starts? We will all be killed “
Then he called his wife and told her to stay back with them and whenever they sense a war his wife should call on him with a distinct language he taught her now known in Ife as the ‘Gbajure’ language which is still spoken till date.
I'd love to visit this historic site soon! It's surreal just watching you touching the Oranmiyan staff in Ife that I've only read about in the history books.
1] Did you visit the Oranmiyan staff from Lagos?
2] Is your travel blog geared towards travel tourism... I mean are you gearing up to having a Tour Guide Company from your travel blogging experience?
Last but not least, I think the place needs to be modernised/renovated with chalets and more so as to attract more local and international tourists. The current Ooni owns a real estate firm and I think they can do some re-modelling on this site without losing the original history of the place.
Olu317 will be interested in this post and your Travel blog.
Amarabae: I want to talk to some of my fellow ladies. It's Oriaku rant series again The professional table shaker.
Before I used to frown at those Girls that are fond of milking a guy's money down in a relationship or a date. But not any more.
I blame the guys for being stupid and not sharp enough. I don't know why someone will think that she is born to be spoon fed by men all her life just because she has a vagina. Walking upon and down with a stupid sense of entitlement.
That's why I so much love feminism ideologies, it shaped me in many ways, One of the things feminism taught me is that "A real woman should not be a financial parasite to a man" A girl needs to wake up and have something doing that will be fetching her some money, am not talking about being a cheap runs girl, Yeah runs girls are cheap sexy toys used for pleasure by men. Oriaku says so!
God bless every hardworking lady out there, Men owes us nothing as women when it comes to finances! Get your lazy azz up. And it is the same girls with entitlement attitude that will be criticising feminism online because the movement exposes their flaws, There are many skills a girl can learn, many are smiling to the bank, all thanks to their skills, Learn one or two today so that you can be financially independent as a woman.
I hate seeing a fellow woman disgracing herself in the name of being a financial liability to men, We need to break that cycle, Hell will not break loose if you take him out on a date and cater for the bills, Relationship is not a poverty alleviation program, But some girls have turned it into one, . Look at the society and see how some girls are messing themselves up due to money gluttony, Laziness coupled with a sense of entitlement drove some of them into the mess they are into. A girl that learnt catering and is working hard and making some money from it will not think of stopping so low to be a runz girl. There are many skills that a fellow girl can pick and learn even if you are a graduate and there is no job. Dear runs girl, I hope you will read this thread and stop embarrassing women folk.
. An incident I witnessed this afternoon left me speechless, A guy was seriously beating one girl who should be in her middle 20s on the road, few people intervened ,but nobody could hold the enranged guy until one military guy came on board,
What's the problem? The boiling young man brought out a torn unilag bachelor's degree certificate that the girl teared(though not in pieces, just straight tearing that can be joined again by a *cellotape*)because of 10,000, When the stupid young girl was asked about the issue ,she accepted that she did that because the guy was owing her 10k they agreed on before having sex in his house,
After the sex, he only gave her 2k which enranged her, she managed to see the guy certificate in an envelope and took it, teared it to teach him a lesson, When the angered guy descendent on her, she ran out for help , Can you imagine?
Of course the guy ran after her, caught her and brutalize her. *you are very silly and stupid *- the angry remark came from my voice towards the silly thing. You tored his certificate because of 10,000 , Why? Just because you turned yourself into a sexx toy.
I just don't understand. There are many girls like her who are under the sun working off sweat and maintaining their dignity, No she doesn't want to suffer, By the way, she has vagina, so men should spoon feed her forever. . Women we need to wake up! We need to protect our dignity! We need to work hard and earn our own money. Men owes us nothing financially.
If a man gives you freely, no problem accept if you want But the mentality of "he must give me because he is a man and I am a woman " must be dropped. Feminism have shaped some of us to know that whether in marriage or relationship, the both partners needs to be financially independent.
Ndewo nu.
^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ Ladies are feeling the heat now! Reality check!
Downside ... with more money at the disposal of these women, there is going to be more divorce in the society because a lot of women don't know how to deal with men when they have more disposable income.
But then again, I love the rant from the OP who is a young married woman, women should indeed work hard and smart to have their own income instead of plotting how to milk a rich man dry all the time.
Buterflyle0: WOULD OBJ EXPUNGE /DELETE THIS FROM HIS BOOK "MY WATCH"
Obasanjo on Atiku:
"What I did not know, which came out glaringly later, was his parental background which was somewhat shadowy, his propensity to corruption, his tendency to disloyalty, his inability to say and stick to the truth all the time,a propensity for poor judgment, his belief and reliance on marabouts , his lack of transparency, his trust in money to buy his way out on all issues and his readiness to sacrifice morality, integrity, propriety truth and national interest for self and selfish interest"
Olusegun Obasanjo MY WATCH Volume 2 Pages 31- 32
The Above is Atiku disected by OBJ as someone who was a VP under him. OBJ knew him well enough to have described him this way.
Such a man as described by Obasanjo should be kept away from our highest seat in Nigeria and not tossed on it.
Nothing has changed with him. He is still the same desperate Atiku as before. He has changed political parties more than. A Prostitute changes partners.
His looting tendencies have also not changed in any way.
2019 will be a very decisive year . A year of many political retirements in PDP and a year Nigeria will shift into 2nd gear with PMB on the driving seat as we head to the finished line of a bigger, brighter and more prosperous Nigeria.
Mynd44, OAM4J Can we get more views
^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ These guys [OBJ and Atiku Abubakar are NOT FIT to preside over Nigeria again because of their corrupt dark... murky past as revealed in OBJs book and other sources]. Infact Nigeria deserves a completely different set of people after PMB/Osinbajo's government comes to and end.
