Tolexander: shey na zimbabwean dollars abi na golden Cola alba?Shows you don't really know how that money-miss-road-uba throws around cash. that guy gave nollywood stars that attended his b'day celebrations last year more than that. He gave out Ipads as souvenirs, he gave out laptops as souvenirs during one of his niece's wedding last year too. For someone in the oil & gas & involved in fuel subsidy, 3k dollars is peanuts to him believe me. |
Chillypelly: @Chino Just shut your smelly mouth when Imolites talk!!! Can your state in the next 10years record 86% literacy population like Imo. We suppy intellectual manpower while Anambra prides itself as the world refuse capital cortesy of Onisha... *** pris(Please) continue to rove(love) your state**If the bolded makes you part of the literate 86% Imo indigenes then there is problem somewhere. |
good move but wrong timing if you ask me. On which roads will the tankers & trucks drive on at nights? The death traps with all sorts of holes? Or driving at night on roads that robbers can afford to place blockages & rob comfortably before leaving? If our trains & waterways are fully functional(and as well secured) change of transport mode would have been a better solution. my humble opinion |
It smacks of ignorance to blame the judge. The maximum sentence that can be imposed is two years, with or without option of fines. The accused pleaded guilt and being a first time offender, it's left for the judge to either use his discretion to temper justice with mercy or apply the maximum sentence. The judge has done nothing wrong in this regard. this excerpt is from Prof corruption's response when this same judge passed his judgement on the pension boss but when asked by another nairalander under which section of the constitution the sentencing of a man to four years in prison few days later for stealing a fowl was based on, no further comments from him. Same judge is today suspended |
rochasssssssss |
same reason why i maintain APC & PDP remains same power justling individuals. Same way tinubu & ACN demonstrated democracy by handpicking candidates in the party. So much for democratic figures |
this is why i still maintain that the problem we nigerians have is selective amnesia & that is why everything in this country is always being politicised even peoples death. Something similar to this once unfolded when bankole was the speaker of the house when he attempted driving his convoy to the airport tarmac & was stopped by security operatives(guess much noise wasnt heard about it then cos bankole wasnt opposed to the presidency then & as such cldnt play the victimisation card). We r the ones that encourage our political leaders to treat us like half citizens if all we do always is to follow blindly & not wanting to be objective. Now i beg to ask if GEJ was actually after Amaechi as he wants us to believe, why was he not stopped from takng off from PH or Owerri, or even stopped from landing at Akure Wisdom Wisdom Wisdom, that was all solomon had to make a good judgement |
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has retained his position as the wealthiest football manager in Britain, according to a report to be published on Sunday. The fourth annual Sunday Times Sport Rich List, to be published in full on 28 April, says that Ferguson, who has just led United to Premier League title glory, is now worth £34m. The list is based on identifiable wealth, which includes land, property, other assets such as art and racehorses, or significant shares in publicly quoted companies, but which excludes bank accounts. Former Sunderland and Ipswich boss Roy Keane, who used to play for Ferguson at United, is next on the list at £29m, followed by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger (£29m). QPR manager Harry Redknapp is worth £13m, good enough for ninth on the list, just behind his predecessor at Loftus Road, Mark Hughes (£14m). Interim Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez has joined the list in joint-10th, alongside England boss Roy Hodgsonand Martin O'Neill, with a fortune of £12m. in as much as i'm not absolving the brits of racial bias, more players in the past have received lenghtier punishments, and for the fact that suarez had in the past being banned for same offence by another FA, it is perfectly in the norm to increase the previous punishment to further deter such offence(u dnt expect him serving 7 in holland & 3 in england, dts tantamount to a pat on the back. Suarez's 10-game ban is marginally lighter than the 12-match suspension received by QPR midfielder Joey Barton for two counts of violent conduct against Manchester City in the final game of last season. In 1998, Paolo Di Canio – now Sunderland manager – was banned for 11 games for pushing a referee while playing for Sheffield Wednesday. Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand was suspended for eight months for missing a drugs test in 2003 while Mark Bosnich and Eric Cantona were each banned for nine months. Old Trafford player Cantona's punishment came after he launched a kung-fu style kick against a supporter at Crystal Palace in 1995, while Chelsea goalkeeper Bosnich was sanctioned after testing positive for cocaine in 2003. |
honeric01: if i were him, i'd turn that his website to a job directory website where employers and employee come to.seriously, did you really read the article at all?? Just asking though cos 'm yet to correlate billboard & website. |
NBC or not, can't they challenge such illegal decision in the law court? I don't want to believe they paid that fine moreso as this piece is coming from sahara reporters. |
Abagworo: You can vouch and die that the Ojukwu boulevard area and that blue housing + commissioners quaters were like that in 2011. Or there existed alternative bridge(s) that crossed Nworie river joining Old and New Owerri apart from Egbeda and control. We need not lie in order to discredit or pull anybody down. The bridge that links royce rd & old nekede road is an NDDC project(including dredging the nworie river) that was started during the previous regime, though his regime has constructed a bridge on the rd that links royce rd & dt civic center area, with others that will surely follow if he finishes other rds that crosses d river @ some point. He has done well in networking the whole town tho. The blue housing(hero luxury apartments) is his regime's idea(its a PPP). |
Abagworo: I understand where you are coming from but the entire Southeast is almost same as the Port Harcourt part of Rivers State. We experience heavy rainfall. Laterite is like clay and doesn't allow easy passage of water, and hence takes months or years before separation and rearrangement. Sharp sand on the other hand doesn't sink as it has enough cohesion. It is these holes formed in the long run from the laterite that results in potholes and chain gallops. Enugu/Okigwe/Abakaliki area has an advantage like Abuja because they are hilly and consist of rocky soil.To think you are still fumbling more as u continue this line of thought of yours. Please it won't do you any harm if you first of all check ur dictionary for what COHESION means before telling me that sharp sand has more cohesive qualities than laterite. Try and befriend an agric or civil engineer or better still a soil scientist for a clearer explanation. You are just so wrong |
funny the length some people are willing to go to remain relevant |
Abagworo: IMHO the quality of the roads are not up to standard or at least my desired standard like in Rivers State. Its more like Akwa-Ibom with normal drainage and laterite, hardcore, stonedust, tar. In Rivers 8feet of surface soil is dug out and refilled with "white sharp sand" before hardcore, stonedust and tarring. Laterite is prohibited in road construction as far as Rivers State is concerned. In as much as i'm not here to dispute your write up, it will do u more good to consult with professionals before positing such in a forum. Every soil/earth in a particular location has its own qualities, & before a road construction project is embarked on such, the soil sample is tested. Rivers is a swampy area so the same method used for rivers state wont be used for enugu state which has a totally different stony soil kind of.i've seen a road construction project in queenstown(SA) where raw cement is being used to form a layer above the hardcore. |
If this news shocked u, then definitely you are not in Nigeria. They've done worse things. I once know a guy who lost his family in a road crash which he was involved in, the first responders to the scene were 'our friendly policemen' who went ahead to rob the occupants of the crashed vehicle of their monies & turned around & left them there to die, which they did die but d boy alone survived. |
league11: 1. AKACHUKWI NWAMKPOThe man akachukwu nwamkpo before now wasnt too heard of but unbelievably had his hand behind most successful initiatives of the present government(power reforms committee secretary, SURE-P sec). Despite being an aide to GEj for long(since he became VP), he dsnt bask in public glory. I believe he'll spring up a huge surprise in this election. He's one of the candidates to watch out for |
Codedrock: Reacting to the girl's death, the traditional ruler of Oworonsoki, Oba Bashir Oloruntodupefun, said the gods are angry because Oworosoki land had been desecrated by strangers and that government is taking over ancestral lands and selling them to non-indigenes.He said, “It’s a pity the girl died. The circumstances surrounding her death are mysterious because the girl was never sick. From what happened, we can all see the gods are making demands.Didnt know some people are still this backward, making a case for a god dt was obviously blind enough to not strike the government officials selling off the lands, but blindly & stupidly struck down an innocent girl who was obviously unconnected to the land sales. the bolded well explains the demands of the gods or do i say oba? They too needs some lands they can sell off & make some money, so BRF come sandfill or the next strike will b for you. Oba has spoken! |
This is exactly my reason for concluding that APC is no different from the rest of them.you woo pdp guvnors to your merger & you still turn around & blame pdp when you have probs. Just when can we learn to take blames for our actions in this country? The only reason why pdp is still ruining this country is because we r yet to have true opposition parties & not some noise makers you'll only hear their voices when thngs dnt go their way. |
aguiyi: by ur definition, they are both the same thing just that one is intended to be transparent.he didnt create anoda, he only changed it to something better & more transparent. SWF is still funded from same excess crude sales but this time around, its not biz as usual. |
maasoap: Sharing of ECA is by far better than fraudlent SWF because all states benefit from ECA for developmental projects. SWF is another way coined by jona's administration to short-change state govts just like Special Fund accounts. You may want to try to equate SWF with foreign reserve.checking what SWF is all about from google wont cost u much, u dnt have to show your glaring ignorance. Somebody just replaced the brick walls of gvt with a glass window so you can see how transparent the usuage of the funds are & u are complaining yet 2morrow u would complain when these guys acquire assets everywhere with these funds. |
aguiyi: whats the difference between the ECA and SWF. please explain in simple and correct english, tnx ECA is a term invented by our gvt reps(fed & state) where they pool up cash from excess crude sales & when they think it is enough, they share it up in the name of 'developmental projects', SWF on the other hand is a transparent form of ECA whereby in most cases, a professional is involved to administer the fund & maintain fiscal balance in its executions. |
ujchief: Few minutes after learning he is clean, all he could do was to go for his condoms! Smh! What a weird choice.greetings to you the ugly one, we hope to hear from you soonest how you conquered imo state |
wales: Why is that south east always find a way to destroy anything good? Yet, when they get abandoned, they start crying Igbo hatred. Na waaa.To think you actually opened this thread and went further to make the above statement shows only but one thing; ur bigoted brain cells have been eaten up by moronic cells that are only found in people of your type. just how far some people are willing to go on this forum beats my imagination most times. Please grow up & do grow some brains while you are at it. |
The 2011 discovery of a major off-shore gas field, combined with extensive coal reserves inland, has prompted some to suggest that Mozambique, one of the world's poorest countries, has hit the jackpot. The gas is thought to be worth an estimated $350bn (£233bn) while projections predict that from 2015 the country could produce 100 million tonnes a year, putting it just outside the top 10 producers in the world. Such riches, for a country with an economy that produces just $26bn (£17bn) a year and is rebuilding itself after a 16-year brutal civil war that ended in 1992, does sound promising. It is certainly enough to make a difference to Mozambique, which has bumped along the bottom of a range of indices measuring poverty, health and education for decades. But turning those resources into riches is not straightforward. Two paths Consider the contrasting experiences of Norway and Nigeria, two nations that made major oil finds in the 1960s. Today, Norway exports six times more energy than it consumes and, per capita, is one of the richest countries in the world. Nigeria, by contrast, still imports energy and at least $400bn (£266bn) of oil revenue is thought to have been stolen or misspent since independence in 1960. It remains one of the poorest nations on the planet. It is an unfair comparison in many ways, but one that nevertheless starkly illustrates the fact that an abundance of natural resources does not automatically lead to wealth and prosperity. The main reason for the disparity is of course their relative wealth. While Norway was already rich enough to pay for the expertise and infrastructure development needed to drive its nascent oil industry Nigeria had to rely on multinational companies to pay these costs. Norway also set up a sovereign fund to reinvest and save for the post-oil future. It is now worth 40% more than Norway's entire economy. As a result much of the resulting profits went to those who provided the necessary investment. Like many developing countries, Mozambique finds itself in a similar position. Extracting gas from an off-shore gas field is expensive and time consuming. It can take a decade before off-shore gas can be extracted from a new field. Mozambique is only expected to gain around $20bn (£13bn) during the lifetime of the 100 trillion cubic feet (2.8 trillion cubic metres) of gas discovered. That is less than 10% of its estimated $350bn (£233bn) total value. Industry experts say such a paltry sum is consistent with what a developing country would expect to receive, given the high level of outside investment. Sebastien Marlier, an analyst at the Economist Intelligence Unit who tracks developments in Mozambique, is not confident that the country will be East Africa's Norway. "I think Mozambique will have a very hard time reaching the standards set by Norway," Sebastien Marlier, Business analyst .The challenges are immense. To properly exploit the resources underground, Mozambique needs a solid infrastructure, expertise and above all, a competent, honest government. "Corruption has become a major concern in Mozambique," says Mr Marlier. "A small elite associated with the ruling party and with strong business interests, dominates the economy." Concerns focus on the way mining and exploration licences are agreed between the government and multinational companies that have been queuing up to buy into the boom. The licences are effectively a right to exploit a find and, and once bought, can be traded. Depending on market conditions, their price can rise dramatically, or indeed fall. Early buyers stand to make a profit if the finds turn out to be more valuable than first thought. Furthermore, many multinational firms operating in Mozambique secured tax exemptions for up to 15 years. When they bought the licences, in some cases more than a decade ago, the country was considered to be such a high risk prospect that strong incentives were needed to attract investment. If capital gains taxes had been paid on the 2011 sale ofthe Benga coal mine by Riverdale to Rio Tinto for$3.8bn (£2.5bn) Mozambique would have netted hundreds of millions of dollars. Adriano Nuvunga, director of a Maputo-based anti-corruption organisation, the Centre for http://mobile.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-22008933 it's really painful when i come across Nigeria as being referenced as a failed nation, which actually is sadly so. |
sayusuf: Nobody care weather you should know about Kannywood or not,D fact is that Hausa speaking community know about it.For your information, Hausa is the second most speaking language in Africa after Swahili. That population is enough to keep driving kannywood. If u dnt like it, go to hell and burn to ashes.with the bolded, maybe we should stick to hausa speaking & writing what do you think? |
reporting for followership sir mazi |
Adeniyi A.:Now i believe d saying that ignorance is bliss. U just displayed ur level of INTELLIGENCE Mr learned and exposed they-think-we-are-foools. |
thelastPope: Most of you just sit in Lagos or Abuja and type with no knowledge of what is happening 100km from where you are. There is really no amount of explanation you'll give to him that'll make him fully gasp the idea of what the ND creeks looks like. Its either he visits & see for himself or he could solicit for pictures from those who have gone. It is a very treacherous terrain As for d MEND guys, those guys were never ever faceless. I cn recount what a senior DSS man told me when he was still in bayelsa, he was among the deputy guvnor's details, & they wia goin for a function on speed boats when they got approached by a group of militants, the millitants commander had to dismiss one of his boys dia & dia(the guy swam from that point to land which was miles away) for firing his gun close to the deputy guvnor witout being ordered to do so. Despite the heavy security details they came & spoke with the man & left peacefully. Wonder if BH wld have dne so in similar circumstance. |
everybody they say, has the right to be stupid but u, OP have just abused that right. I hate to see people display their ignorance while peddling falsehood at d same time. Do you think having internet access is only to broadcast thrash? What could it have cost u to google up OBAMACARE and know what it is all about? Even if u've done so & cldnt understand what you read, today at least is the 23rd of march 2013 & the purported deadline for the chip implantation, how many persons do u knw had it implanted? Hate to see people act foolishly all in the name of religion. |
To think some people are actually talking about amnesty for boko haram is funny. Now lets consider the issues, MEND they said committed crimes against state & wia granted amnesty by the FG, now BH are committing crimes against humanity & you want same amnesty for them? How is blowing up pipelines & blowing up people in churches & bus terminals the same case? Well grant amnesty to them no qualms but that definitely is just but a temporary solution, cos another group will surely rise up sooner or later |
