This is exactly what i am saying and said to Lagosshia from the begining. We can clearly see it has turned to sunni vs shia , citizens vs citizens while the royal consolidate their hold on power.

I dont understand the kind of religious leaders we ave some time, myopic leaders that cannot seea wider picture. If they do not have any role model can they not learn from Nasrallah in Lebanon who plays wonderful politics amidst 4 different religions and various sects.

@Lagosboy,But do you think history should be forgotten regardless of how it was?
If you watch peacetv well and Islam channel you would know how Sunnis hold history.
In life wehave to learn from history and move on, we do not have to dwell on history. The Eu is advancing today because they learnt to manage their differences and not dwell on them. Diversity and plurality of minds, beliefs and people are part of Allahs plan on earth otherwise we would all be one, speak one language, one culture etc.

Arguing which is right sunni or shia is not my thing and i would try never to dwell on it. As long as we agree on the 5 pillars of islam , read the same quran i would move on.

Difference will awlays be there but the genuinity of leaders is how to manage the difference and exraxct the best from it and not how to dwell on the differenc and split us further.

Islam is a way of life and muslims have to learn to treat social issues as social issues. Arguing every point from the shias are this the sunnis are that only further divides us. Learn to separate the actions of rulerss from their people as most of the arab govts are not representing the people.

@Lagosboy,actually i dnt really meant it like sectarian issue, but the point is that the two party involved (royal/protestants) are sects themselves, you can't tell me how a sunni would view it the way shia mostly oppressed would view it.
The royals happen to be sunni but the protesters were not only shia but sunnis and shia.´Their deman was initially for a constitiutional monarchy and the prime minister of 30/40 years step down. That was the wish of many of the folks until this sectarian issue proped up which was the game plan of the royals and saudi from the start. Tag it sectarian, which automatically discreditis the protest and get the sunni pouplation behind the royals.

It is called divide and rule . This is the mistake we all make when we begin to see issue strictly from the pin hole of sects or even religion. There some issues that are purely economic issues and the solution is simply economic. An example is the houthis of Yemen, their aim was soical deprivation and economic troubles which was why they revolted. Some of our sunni scholars tagged it shia uprising and some of our shia brothers tagged it shia uprising, the result was saudi bombing the houthis in yemen.

We muslims have to develop internal solutions and work together like Nasrallah is doing with Hamas and Ahmednijad is doing with Syria and Turkey. My problem with Lagoshsia is the discussion of issues that has been discussed for 1350 years with no solution and thereby fuelling hatred amongst us at a time we need to move on as one entity.

It is a shame as most members of ACN actually wanted the alliance and wanted Buhari but it was Tinubu who was the stumbling block. I quite agree the opposition should be united but selfish interest is not good at all if we want sinceirity in governance.

And u sabi all these facts because na u dey serve den pammy when Tinubu dey yarn all this nonsense to Bihari?

Don't run your mouth if you can not stand as a witness in a court of law with the same silly allegations you're peddling all over the place.

Calling a man wey den never convict a criminal is ignorant and the same untrustworthy Bafarawa you took his words like it's some gospel truth is under efcc investigation for looting 15 billion from his state,

This is why I don't respect or take you people seriously, many of you are worse than market women
My calling him a criminal is in the same manner OBJ is called a criminal and the same way IBB is called a criminal, this is nothing to do with law but a political statement. It has nothing to do with ignorance buddie. Should we say Aneninih is not a criminal because he is not an ex convict? You need to understand the spirit and context of Nigerian political discussions.

Bafawara is under investigation true, but that does not shy away the fact that what he said was not true. It is an open secret Tinubu wanted to be Buharis deputy but Buhari refused. Everything I said I standby and you dont need to say i am running my mouth like  . . . . You really need not personalise issues.

Ribadu wanted to prosecute Odili and today Odili is sponsoring Sekibo to be governor under ACN , sponsoring his son in law as well under ACN in Rivers. Ribadu is a dissapointment IMO as he his dining with the same people he accused of being corrupt. Akume was accused of corruption in Benue and today he is in ACN and campaigning for Ribadu in Benue together with Lawrence Onoja.

We are not fools and we know those who have been consisitent for the past 35 years.

http://www.nigeriavillagesquare.com/articles/guest-articles/joining-the-bb2011-bandwagon.html

There is a loftier ambition in life than to stand tall in the world; it is to stoop and lift mankind a little higher (Van Dyke). These words have had a lasting impact on my life and would have had a lasting impact on Nigeria as a nation only if we had selfless leaders. A leader who would be truly a servant leader and not a paper one like what the ruling party preaches, a leader whose priority in governance will not be to replenish his pockets but to focus on the development of the sleeping giant. Talking about all what is wrong with Nigeria here, will be too boring as even a primary school kid knows there is a problem with his country when he wakes up every morning with no electricity, dilapidated classrooms, bad roads and insecurity just to mention few.

Everyone in our beloved country wants Nigeria to move forward except the ruling elite who account for just 0.1% of the population. This percentage is insignificant in terms of numbers but powerful in terms of financial muscle and political will to preserve the status quo. For over 50 years of independence, a big chunk of those years have witnessed the same kind of people, lord over our country´s affairs. We have sung the same song every year and politicians have always preached the same thing in their campaigns year in year out. It is shameful that politicians have to promise good roads, water and electricity to get votes while these amenities are basic human rights of Nigerians.

The election date is getting closer and electioneering activities are increasing with pace but the question that remains unanswered and I yearn to know is if we Nigerians are ready to put our money where our mouth is, if majority of Nigerians are ready to choose a leader based on quality as against tribal or religious solidarity, if we Nigerians are ready to protect our votes and make our decision count, if we Nigerians are ready to stand up to injustice and fight for our children´s future. Currently, we have four main aspirants in the persons of the incumbent president Jonathan, Buhari, Ribadu, Shekarau and Utomi with due respect to other candidates not mentioned here. My humble self have to come the conclusion that the man to lead the radical change Nigeria requires at this moment is General Muhammad Buhari GCON. The dire urgency of the moment requires a man of character, a fearless leader who has seen it all, done it all and has nothing to prove except the sole purpose of kick starting the real change Nigeria requires.

God has blessed us all with the ability to differentiate between truth and falsehood, honesty from dishonesty, light from darkness, dependability from hopelessness, integrity from immorality and good from bad. Nigerians should rise up and utilize this ability in the forthcoming election; it is clear as daylight that GEJ cannot bring about the required change that Nigerians desire. My observation is simply because he is surrounded by the same old politicians who ruined Nigeria, the same old politicians who are entrenched in the life of corruption, old men who can never change again, men of questionable character, men who have failed to provide us with good roads even as a minister of works, politicians whom their only abode in civilized countries would be in the hallows of a prison or in some countries like china would have been sent to the abyss of extinction by the way of hanging.

Buhari said “It is true that there is a worldwide economic recession. However, in the case of Nigeria, its impact was aggravated by mismanagement. We believe the appropriate government agencies have good advice but the leadership disregarded their advice. The situation could have been avoided if the legislators were alive to their constitutional responsibilities; instead, the legislators were preoccupied with determining their salary scales, fringe benefit and unnecessary foreign travels, et al, which took no account of the state of the economy and the welfare of the people they represented. As a result of our inability to cultivate financial discipline and prudent management of the economy, we have come to depend largely on internal and external borrowing to execute government projects with attendant domestic pressure and soaring external debts, thus aggravating the propensity of the outgoing civilian administration to mismanage our financial resources. Nigeria was already condemned perpetually with the twin problem of heavy budget deficits and weak balance of payments position, with the prospect of building a virile and viable economy.” It would be interesting to note that these words are extracts from the First speech Buhari made to Nigerians as a Head of State on 1, January 1984. It is a shame that to see how his speech fits perfectly into the reality of current Nigeria which leaves us to wonder the kind of progress we have achieved as a nation in the last 27 years since Buhari left power.

Buhari talked about leaders having good advice but lacking the political will to implement it, the perfect example is the damning report of the Danjuma led PAC which castigated the GEJ government for running a massive and inefficient government. GEJ not only ignored it but went on to appoint additional special advisers and assistants to feed fat on our national wealth at a time governments all over the world are cutting wasteful spending.

Buhari talked about excessive borrowing and lack of financial discipline, the GEJ government is running a budget with a great percentage focused on recurrent expenditure while the capital expenditure accounts for a smaller share at a time when the whole country is in dire need of infrastructural development.

The general further said, “The last general election was anything but free and fair. The only political parties that could complain of election rigging are those parties that lacked the resources to rig. There is ample evidence that rigging and thuggery were relative to the resources available to the parties. This conclusively proved to us that the parties have not developed confidence in the presidential system of government on which the nation invested so much material and human resources. While corruption and indiscipline have been associated with our state of under-development, these two evils in our body politic have attained unprecedented height in the past few years. The corrupt, inept and insensitive leadership in the last four years has been the source of immorality and impropriety in our society. Since what happens in any society is largely a reflection of the leadership of that society, we deplore corruption in all its facets. This government will not tolerate kick-backs, inflation of contracts and over-invoicing of imports etc. Nor will it condone forgery, fraud, embezzlement, misuse and abuse of office and illegal dealings in foreign exchange and smuggling.” I came close to tears reading the sincere analysis of Buhari in 1983 but crux of the matter here, is that the situation buhari painted 27 years ago has quadrupled in our political system and in fact it has been imprinted in Nigeria´s DNA.

It is unfortunate that the ruling elite, cutting across the regions of Nigeria will never be comfortable with Buhari as his principles stand against the very ideology of bad governance the ruling elite stand for. The intention of the corrupt elite is to use a smoke screen of religion and ethnicity to split us, while they stuff their bank accounts! They seek medical services abroad while our hospitals are dilapidated, their children study in private universities or abroad while the government universities and schools are not worth a penny. They all have accounts are abroad in case of trouble they flee like Umaru Dikko did in the early 80s.

Nigeria is on the verge of collapse and this collapse will spell doom for Nigerians with the exception of the very people who are the cause of our imminent collapse. Our destiny is in our hands and now is the time we have to act, or else we would forever suffer in silence. Let us all vote for Buhari Bakare in order for them to lift Nigeria a little higher to where it rightly belongs.

I think i understand hymens position and uplawal i feel you too.

I am against the saudi royal family,i am against sectarinism, i supported the legitimate protest of the protesters but we cannot also deny the fact that there are always rogue elements in every riot. Some elements are unconrollable and i think these elements have used the wrong strategy.

Saudi should have stepped in as a big brother trying to mediate and not mediating with troops, the bahrainis should not have cracked down on its own people and the royal family would have been alright if they never discriminated against the shia in anyway. The shia should know better and not try to cause sectarian clashes among citizens and channel their anger solely at the govt.

in the begining of the protests there were sunnis protesting with shias but alienating the sunnis is a catalyst for disaster. I think the battle is lost now and the khalifas would remain in power.

UPlawal please tone down this sunni and sha rubbish , there are shias in iraq working for the US and infact it was the shia iraq that supported the invasion with the exception of Muqtadar a sadr who worked with the sunnis under the instruction or advice of Hassan Nasrallah to fight the US. There is nothing like sunni being friends with the enemies and shia been steadfast. The position of arab govts is differnet to its people. Try to read more on world politics to understand me.

Tinubu is a criminal and Bakare is right. Buhari wanted Iweala Tinubu wanted Tinubu to be Buharis vice. Buhari said he doesnt want a muslim muslim ticket. Tinubu said we want someone strong in ACN so i nominate myself, Buhari again said no but ok give us Niyi Adebayo he is ACN strong, he is a christian and a former governor Tinubu said NO, I want to be your vice or no alliance. Buhari said i will rather go do it alone then and God will be my alliance. This is what transpired in the alliance talks and LAi mohammed lied about the truth.

Bafarawwa an ACN guy and the strongest from the North accused Tinubu of being tthe person who knocked down the alliance for his selfish ambition. My point now is if Tinubu was indeed sincere why did he not run as Ribadus vice in the ACN and my answer is he knows Ribadu cannot win this election but wants to rubbish the guy. Ribadu was naive and desperate to rule Nigeria hence he went to dine with the devil and he would be confined to political irelevance after this election.

My prayer is for Buhari to win without any alliance with ACN and to win it first round in fact, hence our need to win SW.

A good name is worth gold, Bakare made us understand it is ordinary people helping the BB team, people who are not paid a kobo but love change and believe in Buhari Bakare to effect the neccassary change we need.

He talked about a woman who donated vehicles to the campaign and the woman said that during the day of PTF she was awarded contracts without bribing anybody or ever seeing Buhari and the only way she could reward this man is to help the campaign. Such women in the current dispensation will have to bribe with money and bribe with their bodies to win any contract in Nigeria.

I am now clear about your process and i just wanted to be patient and not be too foward in concluding. Dude there is nothing like check up through istikhara and i am aware lots of muslims are misled by marabouts claiming to make istikhara for them.

Istikhara according the the prophet PBUH is done by the individual concerned in making a decision. There is no doubt a learned person could pray on behalf of others but your word(finding out ) is not istikara but consultation with the jinns to perform divination which is haraam in islam.

Dude shed all the use of jinns if you are into it, and please drop this divination/"istikahara"/finding out thig as it leads to destrucution. If your livelyhood is dependent on it. Make sincere dua to Allah for other means of sustenance and you will be blessed with it.

Sectarian clashes would not enable them attain what they want to. If the copts and muslim could come together to bring down mubarak , it could be done in Bahrain as well.

@Eko ile,

The issue here is not about projects, the issue here is not about perfomance as well per se rather the issue here is about transparency, about abuse of office about financial misappropiration. These are grave allegations, inflation of contracts is a crime under any law. We are as a people have the right to demand transparency in our tax payers money is untilised. There has to be public tendering of contracts.

I have never said Fashola has not done well and i would in fact vote for him but what i am saying is we should not be contented with mediocrity in terms of governance as a whole. Let us raise the bar in how we assess our leaders in order to have a higher level of development.

You talked of a metro system, 10 high lane and i say there is no state that needs a metro system or 10 lane highway within the state apart from Kano state . Comparison of Lagos state can only be done with perhaps Kano state. The Metro sys has been under plan since Jakandes time but it is wonderful it is now coming to fruition.
