PoliticsRe: There Will Be Wild, Wild North If Pdp Rigs —bakare by Lagosboy: 11:38am On Mar 16, 2011
Why do we as a nation hate to hear the truth!! why are we tribalising issues here. Nigerians are tired of rigging and we as Nigerians will stand up and fight for our right if this election is rigged.

How can we forget so soon that the 2007 election that brought GEJ to power was massively rigged, how can we forget that 3 out of 7 judges of the supreme court passed judgements that Buhari won the election or the election was fraudulent. Yaradua only survived because 1 extra judge tilted the balance in his favor and thanks to wikileaks , Bankole revealed the 4 judges were bribed.

We want change but we are comfortable with the status quo, we might never get this opportunity again as a country to vote two honest men into power. Men who are not using stolen money to campaign. GEJ is using our money, Ribadu is using Lagos states money Tinubu stole.

Bakare has only revealed the true picture of things on ground in the north. The north voted Buhari in 2003 , the electionw as rigged and Buhari calmed things down, The north voted Buhari in 2007 even with Atiku contesting and election was rigged again. Buhari went to court and calmed the streets. If it is rigged again it is not about Buhari calming the people because this is not about Buhari but about us as Nigerians.

PDP bribe judges, ACN bribe judges only Buhari doesnt and he has not won cases. We the people will fight for our right.

@topic
Even the stoning of GEJ's convoy by CPC thugs has religious symbolism to extremists, because to them, in Islam, stones are the weapon of the righteous in the fight against evil.Buhari is running a very explosive campaign indeed. There are text messages floating all over Northern Nigeria, urging people not vote for GEJ, who they term an enemy of Islam and a Zionist; people are urged instead, to vote for Islam and protect their religion. Its evil.
Guy please i beg you for God sake, you have a right to support and vote for GEJ, you have a right to speak bad against Buhari but constructing lies and speaking dergaotory about islam is disgusting and uncivilised. Even your principal GEJ would never say such thing, how can you say throwing of stones are weapons of righteousness in islam. What is the basis for such nonsensical wild allegations is it the jamarat stoning or what? Dude your statement is offensive to muslims and would be better to retract it.
PoliticsRe: Revealed! Gov. Fashola`s Financial Extravaganza by Lagosboy: 9:16am On Mar 16, 2011
Nigerians should not be carried away with Fasholas work in Lagos. This allegation is serious and in any civilised country it would be investigated. Nigerians get the kind of leaders they deserve because we worship mediocrity and we love mediocrity. A governor uses your money to construct roads and you sing his praises.

True Fashola has performed more than other governors but then again Lagos can never be compared to other states in terms of the IGR and investments in Lagos.

I know many insiders in the Lagos govts and the financial recklessness is very true and many guys have hit it big time working in the gov office. If Fashola was to stand trial in a civilised country for abuse of office, unlawful acqusisition of wealth he would be sent to kirikiri i tell you.

However in a country of blid people the one eyed man is king , there is no option to Fashola now in the race and so he deserves to be re elected again.

I like your argument but please allow me.

1. To bring sanity to the wanton corruption going on in the society.

2. I didnt know he spent 2yrs, I thot he spent like 19months. Which was spent arresting the corrupt class and prosecuting the corrupt elements. Why would you accuse some of corruption and not sanitize the system first?

***can you name 1 corrupt person he prosecuted and jailed? it is very easy to follow the bandwagon and quote what others have said.

3. Can you dig out quotes where he supported the annulment of June 12 Cos this is new to me.
he supported the anulment because he never criticised Abacha and went on to take an appointment from him. dont forget he arrested Tai Solarin for protesting against his dictatorship and asking for elections

4. Buhari is a man of the people as you claimed here, He doesnt have any allegiance to any political class or some elites like Odechukwu does. His constituency and major supporters are the people of Nigeria not the cabal supporting Mumu president.

***I am not talking about being man of the people. if the almajiris is your only followership, it means you are a usurper not a leader. the almajiris are the most abused people in Naija and probably the world. Those who use them and use them as political leverage are heartless people. please ask anyone who lives or have lived in the north. Buhari does not have a masses following in the middle belt and south. He is not a natural leader. IBB is a natural leader. just unfortunate that he is corrupt.

5. Evidence that he tried to islamicize Nigeria.? he enlisted Nigeria in the organisation of islamic countries and attended meeting and paid the dues. Murtala Mohamed tried to do it but didnt live long enough to. Buhari implemented it and only after cries from the Christian community did IBB pull out
Buddie please do some simple research before making statements.

On the issue of joining the OIC , it was IBB who  made Nigeria a full member and not Buhari . A simple google search would show you this.

On the issue of supporting the annulment of June 12 because he took appontment with Abacha. It should be interesting to note that many SW politicians who fought with Abiola for the June 12 accepted appointments. Jakande was minister of works and a host of others. Osoba participated with the CNC in Abachas joke transition, even Tinubu was lobbying to be Oyinlolas deputy when Oyinlola was governor of Lagos.

On issue of leadership, how can you say someone who was GOC of 3 out of the 4 divisions in the Nigerian army is noto a leader. How can you say someone who was military governor , minister before becoming a head of state not a leader. Buhari has been a leader in all stratas of life common , let us call a spade a spade. Buhari is popular with the masses because of his integrity and popularity is not bought rather it is earned.

Shout whatever you want to but even as a woman i support buhari on this, How will i hurt my husbands pride by going round begging for money when he takes care of my needs? That is like stripping my husband unclothed in public, even if we dont have food, we are broke we will rob vaseline on our mouth and smile instead of going to beg for stolen money. thats principles, oh i forgot you dont know what principles means.
It seems you were reading my mind as you were typing. Nigerians dont appreciate principles simply because we have very few role models in power with principles. The call principles rigidity.

Buhari's true self is all too often revealed not in his statements but in his actions, the traits of a Despot and Fascist are there 4 everyone with a half brain to see.
Buddie it is called principles and a man without principles will never be a great man. Our politicians dont have values, they lack principles, you cannot pin point an ideology to them, the only ideology they have is where they can thief the biggest loot.

A wife of 20 years should understand her husband and it is the biggest act of betrayal for a wife to go accept help( rumours have it it it was money) from the person in whose hands is the keys to your husbands cell. It is even more honourable for us to realise that Buhari did not steal money otherwise why would his wife lack money just 12 months after he husband quit the seat of power. Can anyone name another Nigerian leader like that apart from Balewa and Murtala Muhhamad.

I love this man called Buhari , i admire is principles consistency, honesty and integrity. Buhari says something , you can take it to the bank. Even his haters cannot say anything bad about his character except his rigidity which is actually the inability to break his core principles.

Buharis campaign in 2011 is by far better than his campaign in 2007 , thanks to him being courageous enough to form his own party. A party where his principles and ideology could be imprinted in its DNA, a party where he had the free will of choosing an equally courageous and patriotic Bakare. I still wonder how Ume Ezeoke was chosen to be Buharis vice in 2007 and i am very happy Tinubu did not succeed in running as a vice to Buhari.

Buhari has shown us he is not desperate to be president otherwise he would have danced to Tinubus tune of accepting him for the alliance. I pray God shames Tinubu and his fellow cronies in ACN by Buhari winning this election first round without the support of ACN. This will lead to the rise of the true progressives and not wolves in sheeps clothing parading themselves as saints. @ Lagosboy.

I'm enjoying your read. I don't want to start a war here, but I this is a wrong way of representing the Trinity . I don't have a problem with you speaking on it, just don't misrepresent it, if you don't understand it then ask, please thanks.

Also you mentioned something about what christians call prayer. I am curious to know what you think Christians call prayer. Thanks.

Et al, please someone drag Olabowale here for me, thank you.
Thanks for reading the posts and once again thanks for seeking clarification. I do understand the concept of trinity in depth and I always do my best not to delve into comparative analysis here and I have avoided it on the thread as it causes more harm than good IMO.

My statement of 1 +1+1 = 3 is simply from the doctrine of god the father, god the son and god the Holy Spirit and the three gods equaling one God. The doctrine explains God could exist in these three forms but is still the one God.  I have not misrepresented it but I only gave an opinion about it. The opinion is islam position on the issue of Calling the Almighty God one in a three, which islam rejects.

I do understand that the issue is very sensitive and it is what you have known all your life but this same issue is the very foundation upon which islam is built and it is the unity of ONE GOD that never exists in three forms and none can share in his ONENESS.

Regarding the issue of prayers, I don’t recall exactly what you mean but if I remember I think I said in one of the posts that what Christians call prayer is a slightly different in islam. The act of asking God something is what we generally call supplication and the act of bowing and postrating to God in the form of our ritual worship is what we generally call prayer. We perform our prayers in Arabic but supplicate to God in whatever language we prefer.
And God indeed knows best.

In no mincing words a nal s e x is the only thing forbidden in islam when it comes to sexual matters as well as sex during mensturation. Aside these 2 things islam does not place restriction of any form on how we derive our sexual pleasures as long as it is with a legitimate partner.

@Bolded,May God also protect us from men who put pressures(directly or indirectly) on our women,Men who all their see in women is virginity and men who are not virgins themselves but wud have the effrontery to abuse a sister that is not a virgin.
Ameen o sista

I am no moral or religious police and i am not here to dictate to people about virginity. A virgin man deserves a virgin woman, Fornicator deserves a fellow fornicator, An adulterer deserves an adulterer and I aint making this up but it is what the quran says

Q24 v3 " The fornicator shall not marry any except a fornicator or idolatress and a fornicatress , none shall marry her but a fornicator or an idolalator; and it is forbidden to the believers."

For a woman to go fake virginity is committing a double crime because Allah accepts forgiveness and if she repents from her sins, she is no longer categorised in the verse above but the man marrying her deserves to know she is not a virgin. A virgin woman also has the choice to marry a virgin man and if he lies to her he is also a fraudster.

The middle easters society is not responsible for pressure on women to marry as virgins but it is guidline from Allah. We all know shit happens and people make mistakes , likewise Allah accepts repentance but faking what is not is a crime in islam.

Personally i could marry a non virgin and there are lots of muslim men who could as long as the lady has turned a new leaf. Faking it is simply horrible IMO !

2.Reconstructing the hymen in the event of 'accidents' - this is now very popular in the ME.

Lady Hymen , long time wink

Reconstruction of whatever as far as i know would not be permitted in islam as it is plainly a fraudulent way of presenting yourself as what you are not. It is not mandatory in islam to marry a virgin aand a non virgin could well be married which leaves us to ask for the motive of reconstruction.

I am aware it is very common nowadays and may God protect us from such women who are out to claim what they are not, they are nothing but fraudsters who lack in self confidence and are plain hypocrites.+

IslamRe: What Were The Final Words Of Allah? by Lagosboy: 1:35pm On Mar 09, 2011
With all due respect i think the topic should be modified as no one can ask "What were the final words of Allah" it should rather be what is the last revealed verse of the quran".

We cannot attach a limit to the the words of Allah and he indeed says in the qurán Q18 v 109 " If the sea were ink for (writing) the Words of my Lord, surely, the sea would be exhausted before the Words of my Lord would be finished, even if we brought (another sea) like it for its aid"

Having said that, regarding the last revealed verse of the quran, most of the scholars have the opinion that it was Q 5 v 3 which miftaudeen and uplawal mentioned.

Abuzola was also not wrong about the conquest of makkah but that is regarding the last surah and not verse which some scholars say it is surah nasr.

I too wondered about it. Since i dont know anything about Fiqh (Islamic Jurisdiction) i am not supposed to form my own opinion. Some Scholars say its permissible for Halal purpose such as identification (Passport, criminal records, ID cards etc).

@Ify
On a general note. Its better not to form an opinion based on a single or few Hadith. I m guilty of it in my first post. Rather follow what Fiqh scholars opinion about it. They are the experts.

The some minimum requirements to even start studying Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) are:
One should have memorized the Quran and over 100,000 ahadith. This includes the text, chain and the characteristics of the men/women in the isnad. Also he should be well versed with Arabic grammar & should know the purpose & situation in which each verse of quran reveled. Should also know the before & after time of 2 verse or 2 hadith if apparently seen contradicting on one similar issue. Also consensus of sahaba (razi) are given importance & also the fatwa of those Sahaba (razi) are given preference on others sahaba (razi) who had spend more time with Prophet (sawallalahu wa alayiwassallam)

So you can imagine how knowledgeable they will be after years of Fiqh studies. They are the only ones who can give valid opinions in religious matters.

Allah knows best.
Brother i am deeply sorry for this but i would like to make a minor correction, the requirements you stated are the min requirments that would qualify you to be a FAQIH (Jurist) and not min qualifiication to study Fiqh (jurispudence). Everyone should study fiqh and the min fiqh mandatory on muslims according to scholars are the fiqh of the 5 pillars of islam and islamic fiqh regarding whatever trade youare into.

If you are a businessman then you should understand some basic fiqh of trade in order for you not fall into error etc

IslamRe: Shia Justice And The Sunni Predicament On The Popular Middle East Revolutions by Lagosboy: 8:44am On Mar 08, 2011
Brother like I said to you there is no such thing as the sunni theology goes against the overthrowing of rulers. There are many schools of creed within the sunni doctrines itself and before imam tahawi there was the ashári school and the muturdi school of creed. The Saudi scholars don’t follow any of these schools but follow imam ibn Taymiyyah´s Aqeedatul Wasitiyyaa. Imam ibn Taymiyyah clearly was in favor of revolt against oppression be it a muslim king or whomever which means the Saudi scholars twist verdicts to favor the house of saud. That is the crix of the matter here brother, I agree and I stated it in my earlier post that some scholars get paid to cement the throne of the rulers which is unfortunate.

Hassan Al banna plotted to revolt against King Farouk a muslim king and not just kafirs like you mentioned. Sayyid Qutb wrote the milestone against the govt of Abdul Nasser a muslim dictator and urged revolt against them. The brotherhood plotted against Hafisul Assad of Syria before they were crushed, some muslims plotted against the king of Saudi in the 70´s before they were crushed and I could go on and on. Uthman ibn fodio did not fight against polytheists as the north of Nigeria was muslim before uthman came in but he fought the muslim kings till they came to the true islam of following the quran and sunnah and he established to soskot caliphate with all the other kings pledging their allegiance to the caliphate. Go read a bit on it brother.

The hadith you quoted are valid but like I always say we have to bring many hadiths that relate to a matter before we pass judgement . The hadith talking about obedience to a ruler is valid but when it comes to a ruler oppressing the people islam clearly tells us “oppression and persecution is worse than killing”. The prophet pbuh said “when you see clear kufr in your leader topple him” . Umar said when I deviate from the book of Allah what will you do to me and Jabir replied we will topple you, Abu bakr when he came to power said “Obey me as long as I obey God” which is the condition for obedience to the ruler.

You cannot use the opinion of some sunni scholars to make a claim of sunni theology against non revolt.

I stand by what I said earlier, your post is divisive, it serves no purpose but dissent . I stand for unity of muslims and I support sunni and shia coming together to fight oppression. This kind of sectarian posts divides us more than it unites us and that is my point here because there are thousands of sunni scholars that supports revolt against oppression of any kind.

Furthermore, the issue of toppling a ruler is more of a fiqh issue than theology issue which leaves me to wonder how we got to discussing aqeedatul Tahawiyyah (which I have studied) in the first instance.
IslamRe: Shia Justice And The Sunni Predicament On The Popular Middle East Revolutions by Lagosboy: 6:07pm On Mar 07, 2011
@Lagosshia

I honestly do not like your divisive posts and analysis. There is no such thing as sunni theology for non revolt. Last time i checked Hassan al banna was sunni and he created the brotherhood to challenge the status quo of the time, Sayiid Qutb was sunni and they challenged the stauts quo of the time, Uthman bin fodio was sunni and he reformed Nothern Nigeria and i could go on and on.

Please learn to differentiate the saudi scolars on govt payroll from sunni ideology. The artcicle was even quoting Aqeedatul Tahawaiiyah of imam Tahawi RA, It would be interesting to note that even Saudi scholars base their aqeedah studies on Aqeedatul Wastityyah of ibn Taymiyyah RA who is 100% in support of revolt against opression and injustice.

Sometimes i wonder what the aim of your post here on NL is all about. This is a time where revolution in the middle east is not based on sectarinism of any sort why do you have to bring sect into it. I saw the sunni and shia protesting to gether in Bahrain. The Egyptian scholars leading prayers at Tahir sqaure were all from Al azhar and were sunni.

Brother shed all these sunni -shia divide as it leads us no where , if you want to analyse the revolution across the world analyse it but fuelling sectarian divide leaves a bad taste.

Let us be very careful in passing judgement and giving verdicts based on one hadith we find.

The issue of pictures have been dealt with by many scholars and time cannot permit me to write much here but the summary would be to explain that the word "image maker" is intepreted to mean 2 things by different scholars. The first is a statue and the other is normal drawings. All the scholars accept the prohibition of human/animal statutes and craft but when it comes to drawing there is a clear dinsitiction.

According to Maliki fiqh there is nothing wrong in drawing a human being or an animal but what is wrong making of statutes and the hadith was interpreted to mean that.

According to Hamabli fiqh drawing is not permitted and in the hanafi fiqh as well. The shafi fiqh i cannot remember as at now.

My humble opinion inclines to the Maliki fiqh on this issue as drawings are tools of education and drawings are used to communicate to kids and even adults in many speres of life. The good of education always overides many things in islam and a wider perspective should always be used to analyse rulings.

With regards to pictures most scholars of all the schools of thought permit normal photgraphic pictures except some scholars within the hanafi fiqh and some of the hambali fiqh who restrics it based on some hadiths.

Who then did a U-turn that now sees the FEC approving hefty power sector contracts that means Government will have to continue being fully involved in the power sector?

There is far too many examples of Jonathan failing as the C-in-C and the supreme executive administrator in Nigeria. You don't have the sincerity to acknowledge that and that is the problem with most fans of GEJ. Your feeble fin.ger pointing at the legislative arm is inane and illogical considering what we are all witnessing . Is it the legislative arm that was responsible for the serious executive 'padding' of the appropriation bill that raised protest? Is the Danjuma led PAC indicting the Legislative arm or the executive arm , led by GEJ, when they condemn the wastage and profligacy of the Government? When the PAC highly criticise the "unacceptable" amount devoted to recurrent expenditure I guess GEJ is blameless here also and it is the legislative arm we must look at. All the Unecessary appointments made by GEJ , and condemned by the PAC, are also the fault of the legislative ? If they know the Senate may feet-drag over the Soveriegn Wealth bill why did the GEJ Government show lack of foresight by still going ahead towithdraw $1 billion prematurely as seed fund from the ECA for a fund that has no legal ratification? why has Jonathan , as C-in-C , not ever attempted to allow the 15 majority legislators , illegally sacked by 9 legislatures in Ogun , to sit and carry out their legislative functions? Has Mr. President forgotten that democracy is about the will of the majority when he allowed the legislative illegality that took place in Ogun state to stand?

Dude it is you , by far , who lacks qualitative reasoning. You are also self-decietful as you fail to acknowledge what is terribly obvious. I can go on , easily, to list several failings of GEJ as the C-in-C and head of the executive arm of Government but It wont make a difference , to someone totally devoted to individuals far more than to facts and logical analysis, same as one cannot get water out of a stone.

As for your rant about Lagos , I merely ignored you first time round because you don't know what you are talking about . You are either not a Lagosian or one too biased by support for GEJ to see what is glaringly obvious when you said " Lagos has barely changed" !!!! Let me use Surulere alone . I have lived in Surulere virtually all my time in Nigeria . Surulere has "changed" a lot , and is still changing, for the better under Fashola . Eric Moore road has never looked as it does now in the decades I have know it . Never !!!! Now it is a modern thoroughfare with pedestrian walk when it used to be a potholed riddled mess for as long as I can remember . Western Avenue is precisely the same . I never dreamt I would see it so beautifully constructed and efficiently well-lit from one end to the other. It is the same story for Bode Thomas Road . Do you know Adeniran Ogunsanya road is now being upgraded with proper guttering , pedestrian walk and middle demarcation ? I could go on !!! There is so many real and tangible changes Fashola has made Lagosians could only dream about before he came along . Only those totally beholden to individuals would dare say decietfully that "Lagos has barely changed" . Every single road in Lagos now has visible name plaques. this was done a few months into fasholas reign because the man , as per holistic logic, knew this was essential for town planning , order and road usage efficiency. How about all fashola's initiative that now sees lagos physically cleaner than it was before fashola?

Do you even know the success fashola has achieved with the usage of PPP's? Have you seen the new ultra modern Tejuosho Market? Have you not , with your own eyes, seen work been done for the many lane highway and monorail line Starting from Eric Moore all the way to Badagry? Have you seen the work already begun in Badagry towards a masterplanned suburb that can ease the congestion in Lagos and , in itself, give rise to a "new Lagos? There is toooooooooooooo much to list and , as someone who is honest and knows Lagos (past and present) very well, I can say categorically that a lot has changed , physically and mentally, for Lagos . All for the better . Please desist from dishonesty and keep Fashola out of your arguement because it is an insult to say " Lagos has barely changed " to mitigate for how Jonathan is doing absolutely nada !!
More grease to your elbow!! The analysis is so insightful and changed some of my view of Fashola himself, anyone supporting GEJ shoudl analyse GEJ´s 12 years in governance and list his achievements here for all to see.

The C in C is clueless, lacks idea, lacks political will to even implement good ideas presented to him and a perfect example is the Danjuma PAC whic he inagurated himself. PAC´s report award GEJ F9 in governance. How can i be asked to vote for such a man and waste another 4 years of Nigerias time.

Maybe you guys have in mind that these countries want to replace their governments with wonderful, open, democracies, where everyone can participate. However, imo it is much likelier that a place like Saudi descends into anarchy and chaos. A Sunni Arab kingdom with a significant Shia minority concentrated around some of the best oilfields, Iran and Israel looming in the midst, Al Queda and other radical movements . . .

What is so bad about the status quo? You want to risk the 0.5% chance that they'd actually produce anything decent for the 95% chance we'll get something much, much worse? Women aren't even allowed to vote in most of those countries. Why is it by force that such backwards people should have democracy? undecided
I was trying to analyse your post as it all made sense till i got to the last bolded sentence. It is very unfair to categorise a people int hat manner , it is demeaning,it is bigoted IMO. The Saudi people are largely more educated than we Nigerians , They have far better univerisites and have an under 30 popluation of about 70% who are very enlightened. The Saudi and Iranian women have more university education than most women in other countries, The iranian female undergraduates outnumber the male undergraduates.

How could you say such people dont deserve to have a say in their governance. Wheatever the majority of the people want to have they have a right to have it and not what some external forces want for them. Imagine Abacha telling the west Nigerians are to backward to have an open democracy because Nigerian men beat the wives etc.

Buddie, the Saudis have a right to be free from one family hijacking the whole country for themselves.
