Despite the media negativity, hatred and bad press Islam still continues to have converts in droves particularly in the west, I guess there has to be a deeper reason and unbiased fellas with an open mind should research and study the faith objectively an not just visiting anti islamic websites perhaps they could see the reasons.

On the other hand there is no compulsion in religion and christians and muslims should have and treat other with respect no matter whats. We also might differ in faith but we have to work together to develop our dear nation Nigeria.

Tinubu was better than many PDP governors in terms of perfomance no doubt but the issue here is he his as corrupt as them as well. Fashola has achived in 18 months what Tinubu did not in 8 yrs and this is a fact. I  have sympathy for AC as a party only because i detest the PDP and OBJ not because Tinubu was a good governor or perfomed miracles in Lagos.

For all i  care Tinubu is just nursing his own presidential ambition and wants to be vice president to start with. The governor general himself is in firm control of Lagos politics and extending his influence to other south western states.

One thing i admire about tinubu though was his fight with OBJ and that is what i admire about Orji Kalu as well.

Talking of allocation, the allocation from the federal govt is nothing compared to the close to 10 billion lagos generates monthly. Also not all the allocation was witheld but what was witheld was the local govt funds which was bad anyway. Shame on OBJ

Firstly all what you have listed are not sects in islam.

Wahabism or salafiyyah are sunnis
Suffis are sunnis

These 3 things are not distinct sects in anyway.

Shi'ism on the other hand is a sect and the two main sects in islam is Shi'a and Sunni.

90% of muslims worlwide are sunnis and that is a great majority indeed. On the other hand the difference in creed between the sunnis and the shia dates back to 1300 years ago. God would judge between them on d day of judgement and the difference should not lead to chaos in anyway and in the last hundred years there hasnt been a major tension among the sects until the invasion of Iraq.

You could have done a little more research before posting this things as it depicts high ignorance of the faith and the topic doesnt match the post.

If you want to be a muslim all you need to say is " I bear withness that there is no other deity except Allah and i bear withness that Muhammed (PBUH) is his messenger" thats all.

You dont need to be wahabi or suffi before to call yourself a muslim.

Another point is this denominations you mentioned are not school thoughts in anyway as when muslims talk of school of thought it relates to islamic jurispudence (Fiqh) and we have 4 schools which any muslim can follow.

Shaf'i
Hambali
Maliki

Tinubu is no saint but better off than those idotic PDP governors. We know he had issues with OBJ but believe me the amount of Wealth the guy ammassed is staggering not mentioning BETA and the close to 1 billion naira monthly collected as payment.

Fashola is doing well and AC got elected again becasue there was no other alternative to PDP period not because of the perfomance of Tinubu.

Apart from the BRT which was Tinubus project, Fashola's success should be attributed to Fashola himself and not Tinubu. These two men are different people with Fashola having the drive and enthususim for good governance.

I am not a fan of tinubu in the least and there is no iota of doubt he his as corrupt as the pdp politicians themselves. What i was trying to paint is one of the reasons Fashola is succeeding well. Tinubu would not let him control the politics otherwise tinubu himself would move into irrelevance and i think it is better for Fashola as it will help him concentrate on good governance.

With time tinubu would fade away it is just a matter of time. Tinubu is a crook, shrewd and smart politician but many were so before him and they faded into obscurity and he will be no exception.

Tinubu has to make his presence felt in the wake of the popularity of Fashola. He his the governor general himself and the politics of lagos isin his firm grip.

One of the reasons why Fashola is succeding is because he doesnt control the politics of lagos rather he spends all his energy on governance and administration. Politiking eats your time , attention and energy.

The quran is not an arab tradition it is the book of muslims and nothing exclusive to arabs. Arabs never use to dress that way before the advent of islam. Arabs account for 12% of muslims worldwide and the dressing prescribed for muslim women is in the quran and nothing to do with arab culture or traditition.

Pls i would appreciate if you guys can come to this section of NL and discuss real issues without all these diversion then its not worth it. This section is discussion on islam and we are more than happy to hold discussion with anybody but when insults are thrown and someone accusing the other of  some imaginary death threats i think we are pushing things too far and the moderator would probably lock the or delete the thread.

There are many threads here open where we have been discussing issues without all these nonsense. All of a sudden in the last 4 days , death threats, fatwa jargon , and all sorts of hyping. 

Lets get back and be sane please and discuss like intellectuals without playing the fear card!!!

A society without laws is a lawless society. Islam Islam teaches man to be holy , righteous and encourages piety. Islam calls man to submission to his Lord and be at peace with his lord so when he departs whis world to meet his lord, his lord would also be happy to meet him. There is no basis for women not to be able to drive in islam as even Aisha (RA) used to ride a horse and camel which was the means of transportation in those days. There is no basis for a woman not to be able to work in islam as there were women who held important positions in the time of the prophet (PBUH). We are both equal before God and what differentiates us is our piety and not sex or race.

Of course we are not talking of the reasons as many people would have various reasons for dropping out. Check forbes again and see what is put beside Gates education - it says drop out, check out emilson's it says drop out.

Exposure would enlighten you to know there are thousands of arab christians ;Tariq Aziz saddams number 2 is a christian, General Abizaid Joint commander US Middle east forces is an arab christain, at least 30% of lebanese population are arab christians, one of the oldest churches in the world is in Syria and there are christains there and there are thousands of palestinian christians.

Racism is low and painting a whole tribe in a demeaning manner is even lower, if you have issues with islam that is no problem at all but debate with honour and intellect without insulting a whole race in such a manner.
