@Krap
Just as one of the posters said above,you can wire any amount into any account of your choice as long as you are collecting it as cash, the service charge would not apply.The emphasis here is that u are not handling cash but there is a cash limit one can do when doing the online banking(for Zenith i think 300k).Bottom line is that people are encouraged to embrace alternate payment mediums (PoS,Atms,Neft,online banking etc).
Quit the Krap!
Bottom line is YOU CANT WIRE 1million in a Day!
Otherwise, what is the meaning of the bolded part of your statement? It does not matter whether it is a Savings or Current account, daily limit is daily limit!

Even ATM has daily limit or dont they?

What we need going forward is for the banks to increase this daily limit 'cos if l need to pay a transaction of one Million naira, (say to buy building Materials) and my daily limit is 300K (Zenith, other banks are even smaller), that means l can only pay 300K, even if l do it online.

The remaining 700K, l either have to go and withdraw cash (and they charge me 70K! for no fault of mine) or
I wait every other day to do 300K,
Which implies a payment that is supposed to take me five minutes will end up taking 4days! (300 + 300 +300 +100)K = 1,000,000K

                                                 or

I cough out 70K (10% of the balance of 700K) to the banks!

Either way, it is backward thinking and stewpid!
We are always doing the first things last, just like in fuel subsidy removal!

Lastpage.

BTW: You cant even do "small cash-in-transit" for your brother anymore, just in case of emergency!
I have a 15yr old secondary school cousin who can call me at any moment and ask for a meager 10,000naira to buy something on school or when he is stranded. He is in a boarding school. I usually just respond by doing a C.I.T. to him but now they say they have to set-up "special CIT Agent" (additional cost!) who he will have to go to, for such funds! Crazy nut-heads who act first before thinking!

How l wish these Soldiers were quick to defend those"Southern" Youth Corpers who were slain in the North, just after the last election?
Some even ran into Police stations and the irate mob burnt down the station, just to kill the innocent, patriotic Corpers!

Where were these type of Soldiers, back then?

I think we should treat each other equally and fairly.

Having said that, l hope we will not degenerate into this level of "North Vs South, Muslim Vs. Christian" civil war.

Its an ill-wind that blows nobody any good.
The only way that wont happen is if the GOVERNMENT AND SECURITY AGENCIES get very busy and nip this in the bud!

Someone whose family was killed senselessly will definitely be angry and seek revenge, more so if the perception is that the perpetrators ae not being brought to justice by those who should do so! They will take Laws into their own hands.

Thats why the buck stops at the Govt's table. If they dont act NOW, anarchy will set in very quickly.

Lets continue to exercise maximum restraint PLEASE.

My condolence to the family of these innocent souls, may God grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

TWO WRONGS DONT MAKE A SINGLE RIGHT!

BOKO HARAM IS EVIL BECAUSE THEY KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE (CHRISTIANS/SOUTHERNERS)

@Chukudy
WHAT DOES IT MAKE "YOU" WHEN YOU ALSO KILL INNOCENT MUSLIMS IN YOUR ENVIRONMENT? AN EVIL PERSON not worth being called a Christian!
ARE THEY MEMBERS OF B.H? No
DID THEY KILL YOUR FAMILY? No.

As provoking as these killings of Christians in the North are, l am a SOUTHERN CHRISTIAN and my position is this:

"Let your Light so shine so that "men of this world" will give glory to your father (and religion) in Heaven".
*If we Christians Southerners start killing Muslims or Northerners in our midst, that means we are no better, if not even worse than the people we condemn.
*Let us know that those in the South (Muslims & Northerners) are INNOCENT of those killings in the North! (They may be sympathetic of their tribalism and religious fanaticism but they are not guilty of killing).
*Only harm those who harm you directly
, even if you find it difficult to forgive! In these regard, Muslims and Northerners in the South are not guilty and should be left o live in peace down south, if they so desire.

As for Christians and Southerners up North:

1.) try to relocate down south. I know how difficult it is to up-root yourslef from the life and environment you know all your life but LIFE IS MOST IMPORTANT.
We Christians in the South should also find a way of making their relocation as painless as possible;
Can we set up a fund for them? Can we provide them with our accommodation for six months to one year ? (as for me, l have unfinished twin-duplex accommodation, decked, that l am willing to offer any relocating Christian, for at least one year.)
2.) Can our church leaders organize the brethren to assist with Transport fare or even buses/Trailers since some want to leave but the share cost of relocation is daunting to them!

3.)Can we re-assure them that we are willing to buy and donate food so they can have something to eat while they settle down here? Do we have farms that we can put them to work or do we have arable land that those who are farmers can cultivate and at least earn their living? Can we donate spare clothes to them when they come down?
Everything is"planning" and we cant keep insulting them for not coming down, down to what?
We need CONCRETE ASSISTANCE TO THEM.

For our Christian brothers up North:
*Your own case is very different; That place is your HOME. You're being persecuted for your faith and it is very sad that we have a President who have failed in his primary duty of protecting the live of any Nigerian on this soil. We have Security apparatus which have failed us and their re-assurances (including that of the President!) turns out to be a death sentence!
How then can we trust the President and his Government, on subsidy?

*My suggestion is that you adapt to the changing environment, for now.
*Dont gather to worship in large numbers, God is everywhere and can be worshiped everywhere, even in your bedroom.
*Contact each other and pray over the phone or use video Networks like Skype, Yahoo Messenger, e.t.c. The motivation to do you harm is multiplied many-fold, if you gather in large numbers. Large gathering should be impromptu and communicated at the last minute.
*Set up a few "security apparatus" within the church and your environment: By now, CCTV, with motion activation and Perimeter Microwave Beams should be a must for all churches in the North. Install Bollards some meters from church entrance to prevent a car ramming into your church/house.
I am a Practitioner in these areas and l am willing to render help, in identification, purchase, set-up/installation and monitoring FOR FREE, if consulted.
The advantages are many:
-Video evidence can capture faces of perpetrators.
-It can show us their mode of operation.
-It can lead us to the "big fishes" behind the curtains.
-It can alert us when they are planting their bombs or even when they are doing "surveillance" and we can nip it in the bud before it happens.
-We can also assist the clueless Security Network with those evidence, if they can figure-out how to use them.
-It can also serve as a deterrence for would be "soft-targets".

*Since God would not come down in person, ARM YOURSELF AND PROTECT YOUR FAMILY: Dont attack them but if they come for you, in your house, Fight them like King David did and God will surely give you victory.
*Form Vigilante groups, conduct emergency response procedure and do/train your children and family members on "Drills" (escape routes, rat holes, fire fighting, self defense, Bush-survival tactics, e.t.c), you never know when it will come-in handy!

*Stay calm at all times, panic paralyzes the brain and makes swift action impossible! Be alert and curious, leave nothing to chance. Be wary of strangers- Dont even let non-christian "friends" case-you-out for others.

We will keep you in our prayers and if you need help, just shout. Know that as Christians, we do not discriminate against you based on your ethnic origin, we are all children under one God.
Let your life of love be an example for those that hate you but be Vigilant.
Cheers,

Symptoms :- NIGERIA GOING BROKE AND EXPLODING! NEED TO SUBSIDIZE FUEL TO THE POOR MASSES

Am l acting smart or is it rocket science, if l say that "Let us tackle the Disease first" and the Symptoms themselves will disappear"?

Thank YOU, Alhaji! grin
Without any iota of disrespect (l took notice of you a long time ago, especially during the begining of GEJ's "probationary period" when he succeeded Late UMYA as President and then after the election and attending violence in the North), l will say YOU have come a long way! I commend you for your positive attitude to the current issues.
Your objectivity is worthy of emulation. Keep it up and dont "backslide" when the going gets tough! wink wink

I have also added Sanusi's speech to many of my post, where he pointed out and concurred that "CORRUPTION BY GOVT OFFICIALS (mostly)" is the bane of these fuel subsidy Palaver.
Sadly, he went on to conclude that the Govt is afraid to tackle these "Cabals" and instead will rather face the "cowardly masses" by imposing harsh IMF conditionalities (respects, to IBB and the SAP era! shocked) on already impoverished and traumatized Nigerians.

Why anyone still think that one is against this policy is because you are a Northerner or from ACN or for Power shift or a Christian or from Congo Kinshasha, beats my imagination.
We may have our differences BUT we are all Nigerians and the more we have people from a section of the country where a problem rears it ugly head condemning that problem in totality and in honesty, the more we will build trust amongst ourselves.

No one is against Deregulation/Removal of Subsidy if it is done with common sense, sincerity and interest of Nigerian masses UPPERMOST I THE HEART OF MR. President and his CABINET, including the NASS.
Is that too difficult to understand for any one?

We all have made suggestions, which a reasonable Govt would have debated with us openly.
E.g: Why do we insist that Refineries must be BUILT/REPAIRED FIRST AND ELECTRIC POWER LEVELS AROUND 75% before Subsidy should be removed?

1.) With our own refineries (say about four producing 1.5million/day), We can set our own "local price", we dont need to be towed up and down by fluctuations in international market.

2.) The Electric Power will serve as a substitute/main source of energy and less pressure /demand on PMS

3.) Less people will rely on Generator to supply power => Less consumption of PMS (fuel) => less exposure to any change in its price

4.) Industrial growth will naturally follow and job creation will not just be "a Ministerial song" but a reality as small scale entrepreneurs will spring up in a conducive atmosphere. Moreso, those refineries will generate thousands of jobs for our young graduates!

5.) Other Industries like Paint and Tyre manufacturing, PVC manufacturing, Fertilizer industry and a host of other Petro-Chemical based industries will spring up from this singular action.

6.) These would in-turn save our foreign reserve which we uselessly spend on importing refined fuel and the im[lication of a bulging foreign reserve is that the "Naira" will appreciate in value! (instead of all these useless interventions by IMF/World Bank and Sanusi!

6.) Even if Govt decides to sell fuel at N250/ltr since there is a viable alternative (Electric Power), less people will be negatively affected and those who do, have another choice

We can go on and on forever and any reasonable "Leader" will pause and look at these suggestions for a minute BUT these Jonathan (fortunately,, he is my brother from the South!) seems to be acting like the proverbial Chicken that wants to be roasted for dinner but which still immerses itself in Palm Oil"! huh huh Abi im enemies don swear for-am? angry angry

At times l feel he is under a kind of "Spell for failure"! cry cry Or is it just unbridled greed for looting?

I feel sad when my brothers from the South "blow" an opportunity like this, to impress the rest of the country that we are "very sound" in administration of the country and can be relied upon.

Abuja – The Minister of Works, Mr. Mike Onolememen, says part of the benefits that will accrue to Nigerians from the withdrawal of fuel subsidy will be the building of three new refineries.

The minister who spoke at a forum in Abuja on Sunday said this would help Nigeria to process its crude and meet local consumption.

“Nigerians should know that this oil resource has been given to this country over the years have not been properly managed. We have another opportunity to get it right.

“Niger Republic and so many of our neighbouring countries are building refineries around us with the intention to sell to Nigeria and with this deregulation policy one of the major gains will be the building of three new refineries.
THIS IS MY RESPONSE TO THESE LIARS!

*One Refinery Costs about $6Billion.  :-  Two will cost about $12Billion.
*When JONATHAN came into Government(just before his election), THE EXCESS CRUDE ACCOUNT HAD $23BILLION IN IT

*IF YOU DID NOT BUILD NEW REFINERIES WHEN WE HAD THE MONEY IN CASH (Jonathan SHARED AND LOOTED THE MONEY WITH THE GOVERNORS!),
*So, it is NOW that you need to REMOVE SUBSIDY TO SAVE MONEY TO BUILD TWO REFINERIES?

C'mmon, we are NOT FOOLS as you think!

I have taken it on myself to read Mallam Sanusi’s post very well, as recommended and l am posting it below again. I am also going to show the Shallowness and deceit of the post by dissecting it for everyone’s benefit.

@Mallan Sanusi
You can do all this and no one can catch it or prove it because somebody was paid to sign off on docs. And with a high enough margin there is too much temptation to be resisted and firepower for bribing officials.

When I spoke to the house of reps I told them why I was suspecting fraud. It starts from PPPRA "allocations" based on "capacity". You will find a company like Mobil with capacity for say 60,000 MT and a relatively unknown name with a capacity of say 90k MT. Red alert number 1.
In summary, this is like "over-invoicing" by govt officials! Corruption at its highest!!

@Sanusi
Although PPPRA is supposed to give license only to marketers with a national distribution network you see names of companies where u have never seen a filling station in their name. I was a chief risk officer in UBA and in FBN for many years approving loans so I know the name of every big player in every industry that nigerian banks lend to as these are among the biggest banks in the country. I see names on the list I don't recognise either from portfolios I looked at or industry studies over the years. Red alert number 2.
Again, use of fake companies to siphon "subsidy money", perpetuated by the same GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS!

@Sanusi
I studied the papers presented to PPPRA in a short period in 2010 (I won't tell u how I got them!). And I was surprised that on some days over 10 vessels are said to have discharged cargo in lagos on the same day-clearly the same officers stamping and "verifying" that the vessels were SEEN. Is it really realistic that on the same day 13-15 vessels can discharge in Lagos? Red alert number 3.
Again, use of over-invoicing and inflation of actual delivery figures, to siphon "subsidy money", perpetuated by the same GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS!

@Sanusi
Why was I interested in fuel marketing. Because the two sectors that led to the near collapse of the banking industry were capital markets and oil marketing. I am not giving any confidential info out as AMCON MD has already disclosed publicly that two companies alone-zenon and AP-owned by the same businessman owed the nigerian banking industry N220b. And we all saw the amount of subsidy paid to those companies published by BusinessDay. So money had been taken, subsidy had been collected but loans were not repaid, and we couldn't see the money either as product in tank farms or in fuel stations or credit sales. So I became obsessed with trying to understand how that industry operated and the more I saw the more I hated it and I started the war against subsidies. It is actually better to do a direct cash payout or add a line item to salaries called petroleum support or transport allowance capped at say N 300b pa than to keep paying it. It goes to pay middle men, rent-seekers and corrupt officers and there is no amount of preaching that will stop this fraud so long as the policy is so badly defined. Everytime oil price goes up and everytime the naira is devalued and everytime the quantity of imports increases the "subsidy" and thus the "rent" increases and there is more gravy to go round.
Please take very strong note of the bolded parts above!
Even Sanusi acknowledges this! If "Loans were collected and not paid, why has Sanusi not clamp these defaulters into jail or seize their assets, like he did to owners of Intercontinental Bank and other banks?
Why are they afraid of these ones? Why start "war against subsidies" instead of a "war against economic saboteurs and corrupt govt officials"?
Is it because these are not private individuals? Is it because "the corruption money flows up to higher officials"? Tell us the truth, Mallam, please. How can you and Jonathan be so HELPLESS?
If you cannot do anything let the "masses match on these people and behead them".

@Sanusi
So every year we "import" more and more and deplete our reserves, and the government borrows more and more to pay for subsidy and the beneficiaries are a small group of marketers, govt officials and neighboring countries which get fuel without losing forex! And while a person who applies intelligence can see what is happening you can't prove it in a court of law. If the man says he sighted the vessel and it was 20kMT u have to accept it. It was a year ago!
Is it the masses fault that you and GEJ cannot secure the nations bothers and prevent smuggling?
If you increase fuel to 500naira/liter, thus it not occur to you that the smugglers will simply "add their margin" and sell at a profit since there would still be demand for fuel in those neighboring countries? Oga, l think you're smarter than this now?

From all Mallam Sanusi stated above let me make a small summary for him and his likes who appear intelligent but are actually dunce and corrupt:

1.) In no place throughout the commentary did Sanusi accuse the "common man" of stealing from the government. All his accusations were directed at govt officials, people employed by govt and he knows them. Question is: Why is it the "poor masses" who have nothing to do with the ripping-off of govt, be the one to cough out and pay for such corruption? A case of ignoring Leprosy and chasing Ring Worm!

2) We have said it and we will repeat it her: If you know the Cabal (and Sanusi has mentioned some of them), what stops you as Minister for Finance, and your President as Commander-in-Chief, with all the state powers, from arresting and prosecuting them? Why turn on weaker Nigerians who played no part? Why rob Peter to pay Paul? Is this not sheer WICKEDNESS and COWARDICE?

3.) Since Mallam Sanusi has shown us how these people over-invoice, inflate deliveries and profiteer from subsidy, does it not makes sense for him to realize that it is not the subsidy that is the problem, BUT THOSE WHO ABUSE THE SYSTEM? Why not eliminate them and let Nigerians be?

4.) It is obvious that even when Sanusi knows what is dwindling our economic reserve (as he said in the last paragraph), this man still went ahead to de-value our naira, a few weeks ago, just to satisfy his Brenton-Woods, IMF and World Bank paymasters (after he initially refused!). Why cant our leaders act in the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians, for once? Why not face the problem of corruption head-on? Or are they the Cabal itself?

5.) For a govt that cannot tackle this "fuel Cabal", what will they do if and when the same Cabal creeps into the savings from the "fuel subsidy removal" and start to use the same tactics: Over-invoicing, fake inventory, round-tripping, contract inflation, e.t.c to dwindle that savings and render the intention useless and unattainable? Will Govt now look for another scape goat in the masses and issue more punishment?
For a Government that met 23Billion Naira in the "Excess crude oil Account" when he became President by "goodluck" after the death of Musa Yar Ardua, what "infrastructure/Palliatives" did President Jonathan's cabinet, including Sanusi, do with that money? Did they build new refineries? No!
Did they build roads? NO! Did they build schools, Hospitals, New Power Plants, Rail Roads or anything of any material benefit to Nigerian masses? NO. The answer is always NO. Jonathan simply "shared and looted" the money with his Governors, nothing to show for it.
And the clown is asking us to trust him by starving our kids to death? No way.

6.) Am l to believe that we are been led by daft people who can articulate "a problem" but cannot proffer the necessary solution? If they have nothing to offer, cant they just resign honorably rather than subjecting Nigerians to poverty and economic hardship?
Why not even ensure that Refineries are working at 75% Capacity and Power supply reaches around 75% of National demand? That is what can cushion the effect of subsidy removal since people will depend less on Petrol and would therefore buy less and expend less of their income on it.
Not some "Phantom Palliatives" that would never see the light of day!

Sanusi has by this write-up, insulted himself, GEJ and all his Ministers as incompetent fools who are not fit for purpose.
We Nigerian masses will not be used as cannon-fodder anymore!

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

From the above we can see that they, including Sanusi, know where the problem lies but they are "too Chicken" to face them and to deceitful to Resign!

I believe in natural selection, the poor people don't really need fuel, so the prices only effect people with cars. Poor people can survive without electricity during the power cuts, the people trying to run their air conditiong units have to pay, as you see its all relative.
Now, this is what l call "good stuff" only worthy of someone with the very best of edu-kasion! grin grin
I mean, you people should leave this boy alone for Gawd sake! He has freedom of speech naah!!

Anyone that could write this kind of shyte must really be high on something stronger than Coke - IGNORANCE grin grin

He even classifies himself as "one of the rich people", rofl! grin grin

Anyway, l dont blame him, l blame the people who create the kind of atmosphere that allows one juvenile-NOBODY to run his mouth on the Internet.

I made my own life and do not want to live in the corruption, filth, squalor and mess that is Nigeria.
Go-on soun jare, Nothing do you, Mr. UK! grin grin
UK that we have seen in-and-out and confirmed that "Home is still the best"? huh huh

It takes time but you will come around when the time comes.

Like the Yorubas will say, "ONLY A BASTARD CHILD POINTS TO HIS FATHER'S HOUSE WITH THE LEFT HAND"!
I hope he is old enough to get my drift! wink wink

@NLC
On the presence of the thugs at Labour House, Mr. Lakemfa said the aim was to cause a fracas which would lead to claims that workers are divided over the issue of fuel price increase. He said the thugs later apologized, claiming they had not been told they were being taken to the NLC.

“They revealed that they were promised One Thousand Naira (N1,000) each to carry out the invasion,” he said. “Subsequently, they forced the agents that brought them to pay the N1,000 fee right in the presence of the cameras.
”

He regretted that during the invasion, the FCT Police Command ignored calls by NLC officers to come and deal with the situation, and that the heavily armed security men who had condoned off parts of the area also did nothing to stop the invaders.

“The NLC views this incident as another desperate attempt by the increasingly isolated and unpopular Jonathan administration to stop the mass movement against its insensitive and ridiculous fuel price increases of between 120-220 per cent,” Mr. Lakemfa said
The NLC also noted that fraudulent text messages were sent around earlier in the morning
, containing the fiction that the government had reversed the price of petrol back to N65, on the strength of which it was said that the Labour Movement had called off the action scheduled for next Monday.
It is obvious President Jonathan is getting very desperate!
We know he is not as smart as IBB but even IBB tucked his tail between his legs at one point! grin
When we start with GEJ, even the E.U and Worldbank will deny him: Did they not deny Maumar Ghadafi, (who they kissed on Camera) when the moment came?
I guess power-drunk leaders never learn from history, even if it steers them in the face!

Finally let me quote this: THE RICH/CABAL CANNOT SLEEP WHEN THE POOR MASSES ARE AWAKE (as a result of bad policies).
Enough is Enough, let the party begin!
