Am sure not a lot of people will mind if that happens in January 2012! Infact, most commentators here would rather withdraw their "prayers" for him, if they knew he would visit them with calamity on the first day of a new year! Useless President! |
@Moremi2008 Would Nigerians rather have the government pay for imported oil that ends up in Niger Republic or Togo? I don't understand why they aren't focused on improving government accountability instead of defending a totally silly subsidy that has already gone on too long.An would you think “cross-border smuggling” only, is enough justification to inflict these punishment on Nigerians, so early in the year? Did it not occur to you that in the 70’s (don’t actually know if u’r underage or matured) when fuel was 23K per Litter,, they still smuggle it, when it became 77K/litter, smuggling never stopped and even when it was increased to N65/liter, smuggling never stopped! Even if you make it 500naira/liter, it will still be smuggled; all that happens is that the “total cost of smuggling” is added and passed to the final consumer! What stops smuggling is “tightening of border security” and not price increase, get that? Something our President seems to be clueless about! @COMPAQ I tire o!! I keep saying it, the people who live in Ghana, Togo, Benin republic, Liberia etc are they not human beings like us? Do they have two heads? If they can survive a no subsidy on petrol regime, why can't we? I don't think those guys are even as resourceful as the average Nigerian!! There is a lot of wasteful spending we can all curtail if we must use the same amount of fuel as before. All the campus chicks can give up their BB's and monthly N1500 for BB complete for one. In PH, when people die, if you see the MAD driving they do on the road, brandishing cutlasses and hanging from the windows, if the fuel is N140, they will think twice before following a corpse with 15 cars, and these are the so called masses o!!!Are you aware that Ghana, which started Crude production in 2010, has a new 40,000 liters/day Refinery and is almost completing another brand new 200,000L/day capacity Refinery? Factor-in their population (relative to Nigeria) and you will see that they have already “cut-off the head” of subsidy by ensuring that they have enough “local production” (you wont subsidize, if you don’t need to import the fuel). Also note that power is relatively very stable in Ghana! That is what l call visionary leadership. Now compare that to your clueless President of Nigeria who did not repair just a single one of our four Refineries and is not building a new one either yet he is doing what Ghana did?! Consider that virtually every household owns at least one Electricity Generator that uses Petrol. Factor-in the fact that we dont have alternative means of transportation that does not use Petrol (Trams, Ferries, e.t.c) Factor in lack of stable electricity and our large population; Can you see why your comparison of Nigerians “not having two heads” comes across as irrational, thoughtless and condescending? There is something called “priotization” in Management, that GEJ, even with his PhD, seems not to appreciate. First thing first, and the rest will “flow easily”. Cheers, Lastpage |
@Beaf While Nigeria has subsidised laziness and fuckry in NNPC, so that mental output is less than what one would get from a heap of cow dung; Aramco is deeply into Research and development, they operate on the cutting edge and have a Intellectual Property portfolio that boasts hundreds of patents. They have diversified into shipping with a tanker fleet that plies Europe, Asia and America.Beaf, In all you have written above, one thing stands out clearly: The problem of our inefficiency and backwardness is not caused by “fuel subsidy” itself, subsidy was a wrong panacea! The real problem has to do with “Bad Management” arising from employing incompetent fools, based mostly on Political affiliations and/or Ethnic considerations. How then can the removal of fuel subsidy solves these problems, when it was not the cause? Take the Aramco example you made and ask yourself: If Aramco is being run by the same set of incompetent fools that run NNPC, do you think Aramco can reach such lofty heights? (Indeed, if Saudi Arabi orr any of the Gulf states or even Libya is being run by the likes of GEJ, IBB or OBJ, will those countries be still on the map today?) For Aramco to have hundreds of patent worth Billions, does that not reflect the caliber of staff they employ (academics and researchers)? For the company to diversify into ship building and other technical endeavors, does that not reflect “competency” on the part of those employed? Can you compare NNPC staff who are more entrenched in bunkering, price inflation and fuel round-tripping with their colleagues in Aramco? So, do these “human issues” have anything to do with subsidy of fuel to the ordinary citizens? Why is that it is we the educated ones who are supposed to use our knowledge, enlightenment and exposure to protect the illiterate masses, are the ones who end up befuddling them with strange and wicked theories about how to make their life more horrendous? Assuming by some magic, NNPC has competent hands, don’t you think they would have been the ones repairing and maintaining the four refineries we have and we would have no reason to be importing fuel, talk-less of subsidizing any importation! Why is our own country so phucked up with greedy and incompetent folks? Again, are you not honestly aware that Babangida removed fuel subsidy (by increasing fuel prices) a few times when he was President and each time, it is the same lame excuse we are given: efficiency, govt finances and a better life in the future for all Nigerians! How come we don’t have all these promised better life up till now? Obasanjo did the same subsidy removal, seven times in his eight years in government and at a point, he had to bribe Labour leaders and other vocal critics of the unending increase with landed property at Abuja (Oshiomole, now a Governor and Reuben Abatti, now a Presidential trunpeteers are just two examples of the sell-outs). Again, where is the benefit to the common man? These leaders only end up building private refineries for themselves, in neighboring West African countries, knowing that they would be getting a windfall! Again, these promises of “some investors” coming to build refineries if we sell it at some phantom price is a farce! It takes more that “financial profit” to invest in a foreign country (stability and transparency of business environment are examples of just two major considerations, two things that are very scarce in Nigeria). No investor is coming and all the junketing of OBJ worldwide in eight years did not bring any investor (though he kept amassing “out-of-station Estacodes” for himself!) to Nigeria. It is not wrong if government itself put our taxes into this type of not very “financially profitable” venture; it is called Social Services and that is one of the reason we have a government that we all pay tax to. The U.K, America and Europe does it in terms of Social welfare programmes for their people. Should they just think about financial profit only, then they would not do these things. What manner of President increases the price of an ubiquitous commodity (in terms of its relevance to our everyday life) by over 100% in January, when most people are in “recovery mode” after all the Xmas and New year expenses? He has to be wicked from the core of his heart and l dare say that he was allocating over 5Billion naira to his wife’s NGO at about the same time! Talk of “Man inhumanity to man”, coming from a man who has no shoes while he was growing up! How would the children of other people have shoes in this case, in 2012? Let us call a spade, a spade. This removal of subsidy is just an avenue to create ”surplus money“ that Politicians like him can share and loot. End of story. Why did he not earmark $6Billion dollars out of the $20Billion excess crude oil account he shared with his Governors, just before the last election, to build a Refinery? Where are the benefits of that 20Billion dollar expense? And you want me to trust him on this one? C’mmon, we are no mugus! Why did he not reason that he should repair at least two out of our four ‘under-performing’ refineries first and ensure that power generation nears somewhere like 50% (in which case, there would be less pressure and reliance on fuel consumption by the populace), before this astronomical increase? Okay, his name is GEJ, he is the President and he does not give a hoot about poor Nigerians, he does not suffer their daily pain as long as himself and his co-looters are living the good life afterall, these Nigerians are just too docile to do anything about it! They would rather “pray to God” to come down and fight for them and God has told us that “heaven helps only those who help themselves”! But at least, lets call a Spade, a Spade, instead of all these Spoon and Fork stories he is setting up some Christpher Kolade Kangaroo Committee to feed us. Lastpage |
@Thor Stop Moaning, Petrol Is 326.21 Naira a litre in the UK!And l am sure neither me nor you have to use about 20% of our monthly income to fuel Electricity Generator! We dont even need to erect 12-foot high fence to emulate Perimeter Security! And we dont have to change our Car Shock absorbers every two months because of bad roads! And best of all, we dont even have to drive our car to anywhere we want to go as their is an excellent system of Underground Trains, Trams, decent Public Bus and Ferries into every nook and corner! We dont have to break our limbs on that Okada that is the best form of transport in Nigeria. Food is so cheap in the UK that "a poor man" can virtually die of over-eating while in Nigeria, the poor die of malnutrition and food takes an average of 40 -50% of house hold income or how do you explain President Jonathan budgeting 1.3Billion naira to buy foodstuffs for Aso Rock? Some people in this UK sef, they are a waste of "educational investment" otherwise how can you utter this kind of statement? Talk of comparing Oranges and Apples! |
^^^^Any word will do! I always respect those in authority but this one (l do correct those who were calling him names) is actually an Evil Swamp crocodile! ![]() Yes, l have never seen a President who started with so much undeserved good Even those that voted for him based on "sentiments" have come to realize their gross mistake! He is a LIAR, VILE, EVIL, CHEAT and a Back-stabber. If his wife Dame is getting 5Billion naira to renovate her NGO office, and he is allocating 1.3Billion naira for foodstuffs in his Aso Rock, does that portray the picture of a sane humanbeing? |
@dmainboos Food prices are not so high in comparison to other countries. We say that they are so high because we are humans and have many needs we need to meet, but in reference to your post, they are not so high. In Lagos where you have one of the highest cost of living, I can eat comfortably with N100. WithPlease tell me where this your Bukateria is, where l can EAT A DECENT MEAL at =N=100, l need the address ASAP! By the way, what do you buy there with the 100quid? two, small-sized Eba, right? No Vegetable, no Okro, not to mention meat! And l hope l would catch cholera there sha? But l am willing to give it a try; I love people that provide solutions to seemingly difficult issues. ![]() Lastpage Even 50naira bread and 50naira beans (no room for pure water) no go reach 10yr old boy to devour in 5mins, talk less of "adult decent meal"! Jeeesu-Chrsti!! |
It was Happy until that Muther-fucker called GEJ ruined it for most Nigerians! ![]() I dont know how many people will still be happy once they visit a petrol station! ![]() May tears and sadness never leave is household, as that is what he is bequeating to the Nigerian masses in the new year! |
So he really wept? Just imagine: After making them loose their loved ones as a result of his "inaction" as Commander-in-Chief He went to their house and WEPT *Then he told them, as my show of concern, l am now going to "steal" half of your Savings and future income through fuel subsidy *And the icing on the cake is that as poor as your are, l am seizing your Generator since you cant afford to fuel it any longer! *And your children must trek 10Km to school and back since you cant afford transport! *And you can only feed then once a day since price of foodstuff will skyrocket and house rent, e.t.c will increase! And he looked them in the eye again, AND WEPT PROFUSELY! ![]() Only a SWAMP CROCODILE LIKE GEJ, with a "deprived upbringing" can shed this kind of 'crocodile tears'! May 'tears and gnashing of teeth' never leave his household, oloriburuku! |
^^^Ha has just shown NIGERIANS his TRUE COLORS! he cannot be trusted with anything that smells like money! And a disgraceful LIAR! His children should be ashamed of him, lying so openly to the public |
This country has no future at all! Even amongst those whom you think are educated, the kind of argument they put forward is astonishing, o put it civilly!! For example, each time someone pointed it out that GEJ should have repaired the refineries first and then ensure that Electricity is stable (after which he can remove fuel subsidy and the effect would be minimal on the common man, as being done by sensible leaders in other places) the "counter argument you get" is to point fingers at Governors and Local government Chairmen and rant about their level of corruption? How does that account for this wicked-foolishness by President GEJ, for Gawd sake? Na-waaa for Nigerian educational system O! Anyway, if Nigerians dont flood the street in their millions, in every corner of this country by 2nd of January, then l will agree that they are the HAPPIEST PEOPLE ON EARTH and they deserve whatever "death-pill" GEJ and his bunch of looters force down their throat. Up till this moment, Syrian are still on the streets, six months after, demanding for their rights! No Give-Up, No Surrender. Are Nigerians capable or they are just a bunch of cowards and selfish noise-makers? Lets see. Lastpage BTW: Lets use "communication technologies" (Tweets, FaceBook, E-mail, Text Messaging, Instant Messaging, Phone Calls, e.t.c) to rally protesters. Lets not wait for any "Union Leader", they have all taken Bribes behind our back (remember Oshiomle and Reuben Abati took "plots of Land" in Abuja during one of OBJ's many fuel hikes?) and would only weaken our resolve. Protests of this nature are supposed to be spontaneous and should not discriminate between the rich or the poor after-all, not even a poor will open his eyes and allow his money to be robbed in the name of fuel subsidy! |
If Govt can double the price of PMS, why should a Landlord not double his House-rent or does he not buy fuel or pay transport in movinghis building materials? Would Bricklayers not double their "daily charge" for work done? Since we all buy some commodity or service from one another, ALL PRICES will simply double over-night! The "knock-on effect" is better imagined! But yet, salary will remain static (they have not even paid minimum wage o!), especially in the Private Sector! Seriouly, l think GEJ just committed SUICIDE! And if he thinks he can use the IBB style for us (raise it very high and then bring it down to like =N=120 so that he can claim to be humane), he has failed before he even started! |
that is where the debate is, govt. argues that it does not have money to do that and no investor will build one with the subsidy still in effect.Dont make me laugh with this kind of purile argument! If he has =N=5Billion to furnish an NGO office space that she forcefully took from them, how come it does not have money to build a refinery? http://pointblanknews.com/new/exclusive/3362-ASO-ROCK-EARMARKS-N5BILLION-TO-FURNISH-MRS.-JONATHAN%E2%80%99S-NGO-HQ-, As-She-Sacks-Govt.-Parastatal-from-Office.html Or if he can allocate =N=1.3Billion for buying FOODSTUFF for himself and his deputy's family in Aso Rock, How come we dont have money to build a refinery? If each of our Senators earn close to a Billion/Annum, how come we dont have money to build a refinery? People need to think before spewing rubbish. This action reeks of plain wickedness from someone who is very greedy (as a result of a deprived childhood!). Nigerians MUST bring this Govt down very quickly, to serve as NOTICE to others in future. Otherwise, we can kiss the future of our children Good BTW: it means anyone earning less than 50,000 Naira monthly, is not even entitled to own a Generator, not to mention a car 'cos how are you gonna fuel it? In a country where electricity is at best "e go light small, then e go light gaan" (respect to fela Anikulapo)! What a sick President! |
I am amazed at the reasoning capacity of some people here! Some have said we need "to save money"! One said the removal will be an incentive to refine it locally, what about the previous price hikes? Some have said we need to remove the money so we can enjoy "computer like America"! ![]() Some even said that we like free things and the subsidy removal is desirable. So we need to Its even very laughable when you hear people say the "price hike" will clear the road of Okada! Does simple Arrant and silly rationalizations from immature minds! Cant these people just REFLECT ONE BIT? *IBB increased the price of the same PMS a few times during his govt, Tell me what it translated to, in the LIVES OF NIGERIANS? *OBJ increased the same PMS Price, seven times in Eight Years. What was the benefit to the average Nigerian? Or was it not the same reason they gave you people? *DId they build any new refinery between IBB and Umaru Yar Ardua/Jonathan's regime? *If they never kept their word before now (even the more honorable looters, talk-less of a GEJ that allocated =N=5Billion to renovate his wife's NGO office), what makes you think this "Shoeless Liar without any form of shame", will keep his word this time? Look, l have always said it, if Nigerians allow some thieving fools in government to make life impossible and they take it lying low, then they deserve to suffer till death! Freedom is never given FREE, you fight for your FREEDOM. Niegrains must BRING this Govt DOWN. The "Oppressors" will never be satisfied. |
@lagcity Yoruba and Igbo will always be enemies. No Igbo should trust Yoruba and vice versa. We are enemies and don't owe each other anything, get used to it!@ferderick I can now see our really enemies, Yoruba. It is only myopic Igbos (like you?) that would never be friendly with Yorubas, even as l am typing these, l will be celebrating the New Year with nothing less than ten Igbo families, who are close friends! We also have Hausa friends who don’t give a hoot about Boko Haram, Religion or where you come from; ofcourse, they are all enlightened and well educated!! @Daytona500 I think it is time to be sincere to yourselves and list all the negative attributes affecting you as a people, may be you can reason together as one and stop the blame game. Your future is more important than your past. Please swallow your pride and reason.I hope you can make sense out of Daytona500’s post up there? Yorubas, like Hausas and Igbos, all have their own “strengths and weakness”, what we seek is a situation where we can all leverage on our different strengths while de-emphasizing our weaknesses! You say the Huasa/Fulani from up North are your enemies, they kill your people at random! You then again say the Yorubas down South and West will always be your enemies, they cant be trusted! Who then are your FRIENDS in this contraption called Nigeria? ANYONE that considers EVERYONE their ENEMY certainly has a Personality Disorder problem. If Hausas up North are that bad, how come the Igbos keep trooping back there after one and every massacre? How come you don’t stay in your enclave instead of going to Kano, Maiduguri, Kafanchan, Katsina, Sokoto, e.t.c or are those places also part of the Federal capital? If the Yorubas down South are your worst enemies and you cant trust them, how come you will find an Igbo man doing “thriving Business and living happily” in the remotest part of Yoruba land? Be it Ibadan, Akure, Badagry, Ogbomosho, Ile-Ife, all over the Ijebu areas, e.t.c? Or are those parts also part of the former Federal capital of Lagos? Why not stay put in Onitsha, Aba, Enugu, e.t.c which are also well developed and cosmopolitan? You cannot be dinning and living within a ‘nation of people’ and keep insulting them like this! It portrays you as “an ungrateful, back-biting bunch that bites the finger that feeds him” (literally speaking) and just in case “shyte-happenz” again, how do you expect the same people to come to your aid and defend you? Even the Hausas who also enjoy the Hospitality (docility) of Yorubas, don’t come out to openly insult them like this! The Yorubas l think are the most accommodating bunch of people in Nigeria today. They welcome and share everything with “others” and they are not religious fanatics. All they want is to ‘educate, make money and party’. Simple life! Having said the above, l will consign your comments to a small percentage of Igbos (the noisy minority) and want to believe that most Igbos are not your type. I have them as friends and l trust them 100%. We do business together and the feeling is mutual; I take each person at FACE-VALUE. Though, we cannot discount “individual attributes” that make Mr. A a good person and Mr. B a bad person, even though they both come from the same mother and father, how much less coming from the same tribe! Lets stop this useless “over-generalising and stereotyping of a whole nation of people”; its not intelligent, its not smart and it is silly. I believe our grand fathers may have made mistakes and this we could only say with the power of hind-sight. The decisions that some of them took, were taken in the best interest of their nation or people or tribe, it might not be the best for the country as a whole but we must understand the level of mistrust that was prevalent in those times. Then, there was limited means of communications; No GSM or adequate Telephone coverage, No internet or blogging on the web, No texting or video-phone and many more applications that make trust much more easy to establish, as we have today. Trust could be a lot harder to establish back then. MUST WE THEN CONTINUE TO DWELL IN THE MISTAKES OF THE PAST AND REEK UP MORE BAD BLOOD, FOR THE NEXT GENERATION? Let us forgive our old generations and let us evaluate our current relationships “AS IT IS”, as it appears on the table; NOT as Awolowo or Zik or Ojukwu or Aluko or Sarduana told us! As for Prof Aluko, what he wrote is his “personal opinion” though l do not envy that part where he said he gave Ojukwu’s number to Gowon but then, l cant say for sure if it was not with Ojukwu’s consent or whether it was done to facilitate a “meeting of minds and for peace to be negotiated”. Either way, it does not change the fact that “its history and story about one man, from another man”. Cheers . Lastpage Excerpt from a post above In the South, and particularly in the Yoruba areas, the British were able to establish themselves more firmly and Christian missionaries rapidly introduced Western forms of education. Consequently, the Yoruba were the first group in Nigeria to become significantly modernized and they provided the first African civil servants, doctors, lawyers, and other technicians and professionals.Notice that “perception” please! |
@ololo, @ Lastpage.First,l will not claim to have ALL THE SOLUTIONS! Nigeria's problem is so deep rooted that one person cant solve it in one day but we can nip at it bit by bit. My idea will be based on the philosophy that "if l am naturally good, your own evil will not turn me to an evil person". It is called reverse-engineering! Like l have showed earlier, some Northern power-brokers are behind all these bombings, using Boko Haram. They simply want to instigate chaos and give their Military boys (over half of the Nigerian military are Northerners and most occupy key positions) the opportunity to stage a coup so that power can return to the Northern oligarchy, by hook or crook. If we now know their MOTIVE, must we now DANCE to their TUNE? Will that not be fool-hardy and a case of "Thunder-assisted Bomb explosion"? That is what "retaliatory or reprisal killings" in the South will achieve. What we can do: Short term: *Fire all the current intelligence Chief; from Army, SSS, DMI, to Police. Replace them with "naturally intelligent people" that we can "crash-course" on intelligence management. *Send a few "intelligent people" (they dont even have to have a security background but they must be University Graduates with sound academic background to allow them cope with the learning curve) to foreign countries that are steeped in courses like intelligence gathering, enemy infiltration, search and destroy but going forward, we need to develop our own native intelligence outfit or at least re-organize the current ones) *Intelligence! Intelligence!! Intelligence!!! *National I.D Card IS A MUST. *Expanded Biometric Database should be constituted and available to Security Agencies online. Proper Data Protection measures should be taken to protect peoples identity. Infiltrate their ranks, (we are coming to the party very late on this issues). Gather information on their sponsors, check all importation of bomb-making materials in the last 2years. *Put Financial, Electronics and Computer Forensic experts to work: Lets us follow the money and see who paid for what, using what account. *Let us analyse the bomb materials and see if they have a peculiarity to a particular country, a period, a location, e.t.c, just about any thing that we can wring information from. Lets do serious forensics on the bomb fragments and cross-check finger prints on them with some people that are "at risk". *Lets tap "suspects" phone calls, Lets get the GSM companies to cooperate and examine the "call-logs" of certain "at risk" people, for the last two years, at least. Lets keep monitoring every move they make. THEY WILL MAKE A SINGLE SLIP AND THATS ALL WE NEED IF WE ARE SMART AND VIGILANT ABOUT IT. Medium term" *Draw out the enemy: Invite the Boko Haram to openly (ON TV) come out and state their demands. it is not "weakness" to know your enemy or what they stand for. If we can meet some demands, we agree, if we cant, we say so clearly, reminding them that we are not negotiating from a position of weakness but giving them a chance to come to the fold or get smoked. We make it clear that Religion is not to be discussed at the table. Each man to his own religion, LET GOD DEFEND HIMSELF. We will wear the BokoHaram guys down with "active negotiations" while we strengthen ourselves and infiltrate them. If at the end of a year or two they are still adamant, we will have got enough "materials" to cut them to pieces and it would be death penalty for ALL THEIR SPONSORS and FIELD WORKERS who have killed someone; and Life imprisonment for the members who have no blood on their hands *Lets do some redress of the constitution: Religion and state of Origin to be completely removed from the constitution and our national life. Everyone is of-course FREE to practice their religion anywhere in Nigeria but it must be a "PERSONAL THING", not to be elevated to the level of "Statehood". Every Nigerian is an indigene of anywhere they live and they have right to work, live and own property including adult suffrage rights (vote and be voted for) These are basically the root of some of these problems. *Make education COMPULSORY and FREE for any child up to JSS3 level. Parents should be sanctioned if they fail to take children to school up to that level. Issue of "Almanjeri or any sort of child-begging" should be outlawed and criminalized. Equally important, lets have Zero-tolerance for corruption. Lets adopt the Chineese/ Tunde Idiagbon model: Death Penalty for economic looters. By the time we behead or tie a few to some Drums at Bar beach and waste them, others will get the message and peeps like Dimeji Bankole will take us serious. Long Term: We re-organize our institutions like: Judiciary who are basically criminals that sell Justice Police: Stop recruiting criminals into the force when we have a lot of honest and educated people who are looking into doing a decent job for a decent pay. Give them good pay, re-design the Police station and re-train those that are malleable and sack all the "dregs" left. Education: Tutors at all level need to buckle up. well and on time but sack and prosecute all those that engage in "unbecoming" behaviors within the academic institution. We need to re-orientate our youths to have a better "moral standing" in contrast to the "settle me" culture that IBB popularized in the country! Provide a "humane" living standard for our citizens: Let us have a form of "social welfare system" for the less privileged to cushion them between when they are out of work. Like a Graduate who is looking for work, can be placed on a "Two year welfare assistance", pending when he is searching for a job and can take care of small expenses. The widows, Orphans, e.t.c also fall into this category. l know it could be easily abused but we must have to work hard to identify and remove the lapses. Most importantly, make Power Generation a real emergency (as against OBJ's type of "loot-loot emergency" . This country will go nowhere without stable power (l thought Awolowo, Zik and Tafa Balewa told us that?) and we can be great with stable power. Go Nuclear, Go Solar, Go Hydro but just ensure every house has 24.7 electricity.Am sure Uncle Jonathan has more to add since he appears to be "on top" of his game! ![]() Lastpage |
@Pharoh. I must commend your response too, it was civil and to the point. Appointing someone based on friendship and relationship is not something that is peculiar to Nigeria alone, it happens everywhere in the world and that does not mean they are less competent or whatsoever. We are having a issue of a house that is divided against itself, the worst enemy is the enemy from within. We are having problems solving this issue because the whole security apparatus has been compromised and they have a hand in this crisis. The highlighted areas refers. Now, it is is obvious to you (and it is to me also) that the President has an uphill task in ascertaining where the "loyalty" of his "Commanders" lie, (l hear that the positions, intention and movement of the JTF that was bombed, was actually relayed to the BH people by someone in that meeting where the decision to "take action against BH" has just been taken!); WHAT WOULD BE YOUR SUGGESTION/ADVICE TO THE PRESIDENT regarding these "loyalty quandary"? It seems to me that "over one year" is more tha enough time to articulate a reasonable response with verifiable results!. As the Yorubas will say, "if you take twenty years to "plan to go mad", "when will the madness itself" begin? Cheers. Lastpage. |
Its a shame, to some of the people posting here! And these are supposed to be the "future leaders" of Nigeria? With this kind of silly and gullible mentality!! First, even a 10yr old (and some of you call yourself "educated adults" knows a few things l will highlight below:1.) The shift in power from North to South is bound to generate animosity amongst SOME NORTHERNERS! Not all of them 2.) That GEJ is also a Christian is boun to make some "Muslim Fanatics" (by no means all Muslims) get angry. 3.) If all else have failed (of if chaos is their first choice), these people (Boko and their sponsors) are out to cause chaos and create confusion. 4.) If that does not work, they would try to intimidate others to support their cause (the aim of the bombings and killings) 5) If that too does not get the message home, they will try to INCITE others against the govt and the people. 6.) Again, if that does not work again they would try to SET THE PEOPLE AGAINST THEMSELVES! Muslims against Christians, North against South! It does not matter whether one person is innocent or guilty, they just want you to butcher yourself! 7.) And l must add that we have noticed a few people who are "ACTING THE SCRIPT" here on Nairaland. Some have just registered, some have registered "additional and multiple" usernames, just to spew nonsense and incite violence against one another! Yes, you can see from their comments: Christians must retaliate!. Southerners must bomb back! Life for Life!! Blood for Blood!! But have you asked yourself: Who are these son's and daughters of Lucifer, asking you to retaliate? *Is that what your Bible teaches you? Is that what your Quaran teaches you? *What do you achieve if you kill some Northerner/Muslim in Ibadan, because a Southerner/Christian was killed in Damatru? *Can that "Retaliatory Killing" bring back the life of that your loved one? Can it make you feel better? Can it remove the Loss? *Much more importantly, IS THAT PERSON YOU KILLED (IN RETALIATION), RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR PAIN? *Do you know that you are/will be as guilty, if not even worse than the Boko Haram that you are castigating now? if you call Boko Haram people "Animals", what then are you if you descend to their low, animal level? ANYONE THAT CAN NOT OFFER MEANINGFUL SOLUTIONS TO OUR CURRENT PROBLEM, SHOULD NOT CONSTITUTE THEMSELVES INTO ANOTHER SET OF PROBLEM! The only way to defeat evil is not by becoming evil yourself, but by letting your "goodness show and shine" above such evil! I urge all Nigerians who have been caused pain and grief to take solace in "the goodness of the human heart", let vengeance be God's! When we refuse to do that which they expect us to do (fight one another) we have already defeated them psychologically. The PRESIDENT must then make more effort to ensure that our victory is complete and we can defeat them physically. The current set of "intelligence and armed forces" you are relying on, are not competent and up to the task. Seek help from other sources PLEASE! Lastpage. |
@guonno Fvck islam, fvck muhammad, fvck muslims. Muslims are killing christians period. But the question is when do we start striking muslims in the south and bombing their mosque on friday? I think the time is now, a christmass day strike should not be forgiven. We must strike back.We need to be very careful in making our comments or agitating for a line of action! At above, let me ask you, what would be gained by Christians in the South, killing innocent Muslims in the South or even Northerners? Are they not our brothers and Sisters? Are they the ones that killed Christians in the North? Do you spill the blood of an innocent person, to avenge the crime of a devilish criminal? NO, Please! We must also ask ourselves: What is the AIM and OBJECTIVES of those instigating these bombings? 1.) Cause insecurity all over the nation. 2.) Intimidate other members of the nation into submission. 3.) Cause disaffection between "genuine" Christians an Muslims. 4.) Create chaos and Anarchy 5.) And the end-game is to make GEJ's government look incompetent (even if he appears so already!) so he looses credibility and "Power can change Hands" back to a Northerner!! 6.) The frustration could be so much (and we have seen it growing) that everyone would ask for the Army (dominated by Northerners) to take over the rulership and they will hold onto it for the next twenty years! Thus we must "ACT SMART" and not throw-away the baby with the bath water! We must not allow ourselves to fall into the trap of the enemy! I know a few "Northern elements" who have registered with "Southern-sounding Names" on this site and they are constantly inciting hatred! Dont fall for their gimmick! GEJ must do all that is humanly possible to ensure security of lives and property. He should also be aware that some of his "military advisers" are hobnobbing with his enemies! Lastpage |
^^^^^I think the "professional counselling" is what she has done: getting two older and wiser peeps to talk to him in a way that he would understand that what he was doing was wrong and that he has to exercise self restraint on himself in future! If you're referring to taking him to one of them shrink-heads, you'll probably make his case worse! I may have done worse things as a 13yr old but l did not see a shrink neither did l turn out bad! ![]() At times, we need to cut the kids some slack and just give them guidance, as parents! |
So because one Pastor slaps his female converts (with their consent and probably does so to his men converts as well) in his church, we can now generalize that there is VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IN NIGERIA? How stewpid and attention-seeking can some ediots be? How does one man (Pastor) constitute "Nigerian men"? How does the few female converts he has (and who allows him to slap them ) represent "Nigerian women"?We dont slap wpmen where l come from, nor in my church because we see them as "human-beings" just like we see the men as well! We dont discriminate against them or put them in any "special category" simply because they are women! That would be "sexist", dont you think? Stop judging people based on their 'sex', it is just a "s.e.xual organ difference" and nothing more. Mtchew! |
Oops, me bad! Just realized the "Op" has resolved the issue. Pls disregard and ignore my post! ![]() Lastpage |
Okay, if l were Debrief08, l will not tell his parents nor tell my husband. l will call the boy and another male (for added safety for my person as a pregnant female, ; someone he does not know and who would not make him feel guilty or have that sense ofjavascript:void(0); shame) and together l will tell him in a frank but motherly tone that what he did back then in the kitchen was inappropriate and wrong. I will ask him how he thinks it will pan out if his friend (my husband) or his parents where to know what he was doing? I will let him know that l am not telling anyone else because l know that it is his hormones, at this stage of his life that are raging. I will even let him know some other "feelings" that might crop up (or have cropped up) and how he should deal with them! I will bring him into my confidence and let him know that if he feels confused at any time, he can always come to me for help. I will completely unnerve him and make him feel at ease in my presence. Show him warmth and love, explain things to him in a way he can relate with. Let him know it is inappropriate, but dont blame him for it, rather let him see why his "puberty stage of life" is responsible for it and why he MUST be strong and control his urges, as part of his transition from being a BOY, to becoming a responsible man. He wont look me bum twice in the face, from that day! ![]() Lastpage BTW: I remember when l was about his age, l had this crush on my class teacher She liked me sooo much that l fell in love(?) with her and used to dream about her. She will send me everywhere (including buying her food and taking groceries to her house), share food with me, buy me gifts and l was the only one in class who could open her handbag! Occasionally, she canned me lightly 'cos l was the kind of naughty boy you can never be too sure of! On reflection, she was just nice to me just because back then, l was a brilliant and very smart little kid. With time, l got over her (liking her in a lusty way) and even as an adult, l still like her in a motherly way (she was in her twenties then and unmarried )But me l did not go as far as this boy o, l simply kept my wacky feelings inside my head! God forbid my mother knows what was going on in my head back then, I will surely go to heaven and comeback that day! Dont even talk about my Dad, the thought alone will make me piss in my pants! Was l not supposed to be the nice, lovely, well brought up christian kid that dazzled everyone? xcept l be some kin dare-devil kid When l remember such things, l remind myself to always impress it on my own kids: To be open with me and be confident that no matter what happens or what they did, l will always be willing to listen to them, without getting angry or castigating them. |
That Azazi, like his employer, is a huge JOKE! ![]() So, if you have "discovered and demolished" so many bomb factories within a few weeks, isn't it about time YOU TELL US YOU HAVE ARRESTED THEIR SPONSORS or did these Bomb factories spring-up overnight from thin air? Abi dem be GHOST? Shyte-head calling himself Security Adviser! ![]() Always reacting to PAST EVENTS (after the bombing has happened)! Maybe like his Brother, Ex DIG Ganiyu Dawodu, he was phucking Ashawo in a Hotel somewhere while the whole country is being bombed to smithereens! ![]() Oloshi!! |
@Gov. Fashola He explained that the only way to make life as good as they are in the other jurisdictions such as Europe was for the people to provide the government with more resources to do so.Hmmmm, BRF, small small o! I was a tenant in this same Europe some years back, now l also have my own tenants but none of us have ever been requested to pay WHT on House Rent! Wetin sef? Is it only in Taxation that these wicked Politicians/Rulers must always emulate Europe/Western World? Why not emulate them in Transparency in government? Why not emulate them in service delivery or do they use Fuel Generator in Fashola’s own Europe or do they have empty Hospitals and dry Taps? Is “QUALITY education” in not FREE in public schools in this same Europe or do we find the County Mayors (Akin to State Governors in Nigeria) riding around in Limousine an 4x4 Jeeps simply because they would not repair the roads! Don’t we enter Train/Tram along with them without all the gun-totting soldiers that you go around with? Fashola, “to whom much is given, much is expected”. I must candidly tell you that you are fast becoming an “oppressive tyrant” and l don’t mean to be rude to you. Which comes first: Taxing the People to death or making their lives easier (from budget allocations) and then gradually recouping such expenditure through “non-aggressive” taxation, over time? The life of the average Lagosian (emphasis on “average”, and l am not one of them) is becoming unbearable. Take it easy Bro, let your TAXATION REGIME be commensurate with what citizens can afford to pay without starving them to death and let development and benefits be commensurate. Like someone said, Service first, tax after, not the other way round and the Tax is looted! As for churches, they are a “spiritual, non-profit body” but any church that wants to digress and engage in business, THEY SHOULD BE TAXED ACCORDINGLY, No BIG DEAL in that. Again, nothing wrong in paying sensible, progressive tax as long as it is used for “OBSERVABLE AND COMMENSURATE DEVELOPMENT, not the “white elephants” that hardly benefit majority of the commoners in Lagos. I have spoken my own ten cents o. @timbook2 In Nigeria's comedies of errors', fellas come out on 16, 22, 40, 53-count charges and still walk free! if you can try that and walk at the public law courts here in Europe, its either everybody were silly in the first place to have accused you or you should just recommend your Voodoo priest, witch or Hex Master to us so we can contact him for help on committing crime without doing time?!I duff my hat for you, a hundred times. Its really crazy and l think there is something fundamentally WRONG WITH THE PSYCHE OF NIGERIANS, they have been so dehumanized that they can rationalize the cannibalism of their first born! Fela Anikulapo Kuti called it SUFFERING AND SMILING! :d :d Lastpage |
"Monkey No-fine, im Mama (gee ) Like Am"!Make una leave the woman alone naaah, haaba! Whats the story with every MALE from Benin becoming a PRINCE! Who are their subjects abi na "Yorobo" people in Lagos? ![]() (Dont mind me, am only joking, am 'Yorobo", as my Igbo friend will say, as well!). I really like the Prince "Lord Lugard" Hat. Its really cool in an 'old-school' way. Wish them a happy married life. Lastpage |
@Moremi2000 his case is a clear miscarriage of justice and the Judge is a fool that will be mocked mercilessly when this goes to trial. The note found in his car is a useless piece of paper until he presents it to somebody or to an institution with the intent of threatening. Someone can't be accused of making threats just because he wrote something on a piece of paper. If that's the case, then a lot of novelists and writers would be in jail!!!! His other crimes are separate and should be considered in isolation. They can only do this to a black man with a foreign sounding name. I am 100% sure if this dude was white, he would have gotten away with probation and probably put on a watch list. America is a country founded on racist people and institutions. This court-ruling is just another piece of evidence demonstrating America's racist DNA.While l will crave leniency for ANY YOUNG PERSON since they are prone to rash behavior, like the judge, l still find it INEXCUSABLE that "many facts" worked against this guy!! How do you explain an under-Gee having a gun in the hostel? A loaded Gun for that matter! Who does he want to kill or does he need to load the gun, to complete his "Rap lyrics"? Again, to have ordered for four (4) high calibre weapons, including a Sub-Machine! Jeezuz Christ, how do you explain that? Give me a good explanation for that one, please! Is tht one also part of his "Rap lyrics"? Lets assume he got the guns, what he gonna do with them? A student o! Now, not to talk about the "innocent" scribble found in his car! he even drew attention to a "live event" like the Virginia tech! And there was MOTIVE in that scribble: Blackmail for money! Honestly, if l were the judge, l will struggle a lot to set this guy FREE! And God forbid l do and he ends-up like Abdul Mutallab or the V.tech guy, how will l feel? He played with fire, he got burnt! Chikenna Lastpage BTW: A lot of Novelist dont write about criminality and then go one to "actualize it" or take "active steps" in the pursuit of it. if they did, it would cross from the realms of Fiction, to that of reality!. Jefrey Archer once did so, and he paid dearly for it!. |
@emiye: I think you should also compare the "pictures" of both Motorways! *One looks like a glorified "major street" while the other is a standard motorway You should also compare the length/distance of the ACTUAL ROAD that is being tolled! *LCC is tolling a 2KM stretch for =N=120, while the M6 is tolled at "43KM stretch" for =N=1,200 (average, for Saloon cars) Lets do the Maths! You can also compare the QUALITY of BOTH ROADS (I have driven on both in the last 3weeks) and its like comparing "sleep and death", figuratively! ![]() You can also factor-in 'average income per head', cost of living, e.t.c, to arrive at a credible analysis! If we must compare, lets not Compare APPLES WITH ORANGES! ![]() Cheers, Lastpage. BTW: Nothing is wrong with Tolling per se, its just like Taxes -very desirable but there must be obvious "value for money", it must be in the "Public interest" (as against one man or some Cabal's interest) and it must be progressive! |
Its really IDIOTIC, that every single issue, that should have been discussed INTELLIGENTLY WITHOUT BIAS, is turned into a "Political Party Affiliation c.u.m tribal Fight"! Lord have mercy, its becoming boring! Cant young men just take up "issues" and thrash it out with intelligent arguments and counter-arguments, instead of these ACN Vs. PDP. Vs. APGA Vs. Yoruba Man Vs. Igbo Man Vs. Hausa Man Vs. all sorts of infantile suggestions! (shakes head and walks out) ![]() Lastpage. BTW: @Kizilala: Do you think it speaks well of you to call a whole NATION OF PEOPLE "DIRTY"? Does that fella now represent the millions of people you just insulted? Think about it, how would you feel if some uncouth, foul-mouthed fella just says the same thing about your people? Why do you/we take ride in "generalizing" such insults? (even in anger!) Cheers. ![]() |
if she born TWINS now, dem go begin another round of "gnashing of Teeth"! Celebrate with those that celebrate and mourn with those that are mourning! @Godman n Guess you are happy to be an African, living in the dark ages, in this 21st. Not because you lack head and hands to evolve and innovate like other races in the world, but because Western Europe have imposed a killing kind of leadership in us.^^^I feel you Bro, l feel you real DEEP! If half of Nigerians "think this way and act on it", Nigeria will be a Paradise within five years! I just hope Mr. President read the C.V. of this IMFLagarde? As a Finance Minister in France, She was a FAILURE! She only became IMF President "by ARRANGEE", you know: USA produces the World Bank President, Europe produces IMF President! Now there are at least three, better candidates than Lagarde but she was used as a "replacement" for the Randy Strauss Khan". Again, if we Nigerians suffer from Amnesia, let me remind us that the rot we suffer today, was institutionalized during the IMF dictated SAP (Structural Adjustment Programme) under IBB! That was when the Naira was deregulated (like Petrol has been deregulated over 15times Of course, "leaders" like IBB make tons of money an live large today while the citizens slipped into abject poverty! If l have the opportunity, l will put these presidents on TRIAL for subversion, Treason and Economic Sabotage of Nigeria(ns) and guess what, when found guilty, l will give them the JERRY RAWLINGS TREATMENT! Nigerians need to wake-up or forever remain backward and eventually turn to animals! Lastpage. BTW: We are all angry (at least some of us ) but please dont let anger "crowd" the wisdom in your post, l really feel feel you.Cheers. |
@james1 ^^^^^^^Wait, why did the toll gate not start before oriental HOTEL? LOL.Thieving bastards!!!You think that thieving bas.tard is not smart? ![]() How do you expect Thiefnubu's LCC to erect a Toll to TAX the customers coming into his own Oriental Hotel (built with money stolen from LASG!) It is the people of Lekki that deserves to be strangulated while Fashola (accomplice to looting) and Ojuyobo smile to the bank! |
