Very very interesting.

Thanks for the excellent write up.

So the old "dem foreigners are taking all our jobs" plays out in the UK too.
It is always coming from lazy people who are afraid of competition!
Remember that in Nigeria, some years back, we pounced on the Ghananians (Ghana must go!) claiming they are taking our jobs, blaming them for the insecurity, e.t.c?
Now that they are gone, who do we blame? ........ or have those problems disappeared?

I think (l may just be wrong) that racism against blacks is a "genetic" thing in white folks.
See what is happened in Batton Rogue?
See what happened in Dallas?

Yet no one wants to talk about the "real truth"?
Well, l wont be saying this if l was in the U.S right now, anyway. undecided (dem too eavesdrop on conversation grin )

How is it that "White" female police officers, Black Police officers, Latino Police officers who also accost Black men everyday in their course of work, dont end up gunning these Black folks down in cold blood..... WHY is it ALWAYS WHITE, MALE Police officers?

I knew a day like this is coming..... just a matter if time. undecided undecided

We just have to know how to manage the situation.

True but spot the diff live and work as against live and dont work in the Uk and claim benefits plus free house .
This argument is lame (no insult intended).
You know why?

1.) there are British citizens who live in the U.K on benefit, from the U.K govt

2.) There are U.K citizens who live in other E.U countries, not working and getting the same benefit that some U.K folks are shouting about, from their "Host E.U Country".

I mean, there are as much British citizens who live ON BENEFIT in the other 27 E.U countries (combined), as there are E.U citizens who live in the U.K.
so, it cancels out.

Again, U.K has access to the 27-nation E.U "free market", tax free.

My son sells things on Ebay and he said once U.K is out of the E.U. that means those things would become costlier as the buyer (in an E.U country) has to now pay Import tax (25%) to buy those things from his own online store.
That means they would buy it from other competing E.U sellers where they wont have to pay such tax and their product will then be bought cheaper!

...and this is just a single example.

Trust me, l saw this coming and that is why l got the E.U passport for my own kids, even when they have the Britico one.

Interesting.

You know, I'll never figure out why a German or Italian will migrate to UK but anyways.
Let me put it this way Sir:

English is the "language of business" world over.
Only two countries, speak English "naturally", within the E.U or Europe in general but even at that, only the U.K has English as its "mother tongue" (Ireland speaks Irish language (Gaelic) but use English as official language).

Most companies which are global, will situate their HQ in U.K for language purposes ...or in Ireland for "language and tax purposes" (Ireland has 12.5% corporate tax, lowest in Europe).

So, a lot of "E.U citizens" go to live in the U.K for "some time" (especially the East Europeans) to learn the language "first hand", at the fastest pace.
British citizens also live and work in E.U countries for the "cheap cost" of living, job opportunities (since they stand out from the crowd, being English speaking).
It is a mutually beneficial arrangement.

The whole Brexit agenda is predicated on racism, first against black immigrants, second against non-native (White British) by some lazy, arrogant "English" who "live on fear" because they lack self-confidence.
They have this fear of others (They will take our jobs, when infact the jobs are always there but you cant do it! Thats why l call them lazy!).

But the devil is in the details:
*They have voted to leave.... yet all of the "leave leaders" are running away from "activating leaving"! grin grin

*Cameron does not want to invoke article 51, which triggers the "leave officially" process. He would rather leave it for the next british P.M to do! shocked shocked
*Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson (who led the leave campaign) are both running away from becoming the next British P.M! grin grin

*They are already begging the E.U to allow them access to the E.U market while the E.U says: leave officially first, before even attempting to have any discussion with us.

*They know that the leave vote was not in the interest of the "British economy and the British people" but at times, hatred, especially "racial hatred", can make people "cut-off their nose, ... just to spite their face". undecided undecided

*The GBP fell toits lowest in 30yrs, afew hours after the vote. It is gradually recovering though.

*As of today, they are looking for a "legal loophole" to let them repudiate that Vote!

*Even Scotland has said it does not want to be part of a U.K that leaves the E.U! It is just waiting for the U.K to trigger article 51 officially, for it to launch another referendum to break-off from the U.K and be part of the E.U (Dont forget, one of the arguments for Scotland to remain a part of the U.K during the Scottish referendum, was that the E.U would not accept them into the union, if they break-away!)

*Then there is the Northern Ireland (Belfast) problem: Those ones too are saying well, if you break away, we too will break-away and re-unite with our Southern folks in the Republic (South) of Ireland.

*Now, Britain has to speak as one 'little country' (its even no longer a major military power! grin ) amongst the strong E.U giant!
*America will rather sign a trade/military agreement with the E.U (27 countries and counting!), than with a single country that is the U.K.

Its a long story but take this from me TODAY: Britain would do ANYTHING to not leave the E.U.
Dont be surprised if a second referendum was activated (They say the percentage of the first one is "not wide enough" grin grin ) to "re-vote" to leave... and they will vote to remain.

Well not exactly, the settled ones can still stay, Nigerians are going no where. Its the Eu guys that it affects more, some of them cannot hold two passport so its either they become british or go back to thier country ie Germans,Polish,French and Italians
There are also a large number of Brits, who are 'ordinarily resident' (live and work) in those E.U countries, who have not yet acquired the E.U passport.
Those ones too will have to evacuate or continue to live in the E.U by getting a resident Visa!
They have suddenly become foreigners.... instead of being E.U Citizens, with freedom to live and work in about 27 E.U countries! grin grin

What I've come to realise is whenever I see stuff that is pricey I pay more attention.

In the sea of fake or substandard products from China, I reckon I should pay more if I can be assured of a quality or original product.
I agree with you on this but at times, l have also come to learn that "using PRICE to JUDGE QUALITY" has been abused in our our country.

These Sellers have understood our mentality and will put the HIGHEST PRICE on the FAKEST of all their products ...and tell you: Oga, this one na original but e cuss nor be small! shocked shocked angry angry

BTW: The "Doctor-in-the-making" is no longer a "Boy" if that is the one you are referring to.
You are just a few years older than him. He is schooling not too far from you and comes home on Holidays
I have more than one male child/children and some of them still live under my roof, as of this moment.
All of them, including me and my junior mummy (wifey) hold a minimum three passports, including our "highly treasured" Nigerian passport.
My wife holds Four. We dont make a 'big deal' about it as it does not put food on our table.

Being Britico is not just by going to the U.K to "hustle", l am sure than you are aware that there are at least five routes to acquiring British citizenship, some of which are if you can invest a certain minimum amount in the U.K economy, by parentage (Yes, his parents holds a British and E.U passport even though not currently "permanently resident" there right now), long term "legal" residency, e.t.c.

well thanks for the fancy words,I think you have been waiting for an opportunity to use it on me,the last plz check the last time I made a quote of your comment, calling me a snake,in your clever mind you think Im urging Egun against Freeworld,
I do not like insulting anyone on the property section I can give as good as I get on the politics section,
I also know my Elders on here,
You have no basis telling me to F off or use those fancy words on me as it would be nice for us to go back to the purpose this section was started.
I dont think its a good idea to post pictures of other people on here no matter what, I laughed wen a joke was made about one year one block and also wen the camel joke was made, it was funy but posting pic and talking about one;s private life the you learnt in confidence is not funny,I know you can at least agree to that,I know you are P'd off about something on here I dont know what that is but its certainly nothing to do with me trust me.
PS:Im trying not to insult you as I believe you are missing the point of where Im coming from and I think its a bit disrespectful the way you are talking to me.If nah Mr free we fit yab ourselves as our age near. wink
Now that you have "quoted me", l think we are square on that.

Now, l posted a few lines...... please highlight the FANCY WORDS in my post.
Except maybe you are just bandying words without even knowing the meaning.
I have told U time without numbers, I do not like to chat with you so plz stop quoting me, is it that too hard to comprehend nah by force
When you inferred that "l lack comprehension or some other insults", in your mind, l am supposed to "soak it up" like you are some kind of class Captain? That statement is an insulting and disrespectful to me ( I am sure you and l agree on that as well), though l do not look for respect on Nairaland, l have more than enough in real life..

Please tell me: What is "fancy" in insulting people, for no reason? huh huh

You urged both sides on, to insult each other, (check your previous posts) instead of suing for Peace IMMEDIATELY (or even keeping quiet) by telling them to calm down.
When you saw that the thing was dying down, you now started to 'act' like you are now suing for peace!

I also dont like people discussing what was done in "private and in TRUST" being opened to the public, when "friends" fall-out with each other.
But people like you also encouraged that in the past (remember the Brabus/Qc-1/Maverick, e.t.c cases ?).

Yes, l am pi$$ed-off that two members of this forum are having a spat and all you can do is urge them on.

This is one of the reasons l dont even have private chats with anyone on Nairaland or allow anyone to come that close to me.
I will friend you in real life but you wont and cant connect the "real life" person to the "Lastpage on Nairalland". It will never happen.

Too many immature behaviour on Nairaland but then, we are all anonymous and can afford to be childish. grin grin
Even my son just laughed when he read the way you insulted me in that your post.
He overheard me laughing and came down to do "Aproko" over my shoulders. I let him read the posts and he couldn't help laughing at how l am able to stomach these things "online" ..... and would never take a tenth of it in "real life".

I told him its my own way of unwinding! grin grin grin

So, take a Chill, you dont insult me, l wont insult you.
I am "generally" very respectful of others.... until they disrespect me.

kappish?

(if you want, we can meet in the politics section where l do "fire-for-fire" grin grin ...just kidding.)

Thanks,

An old client showed me a type of roller she brought from her travel that can give wall paper like patterns.
I found it fascinating and did research about it.
I've attached some pictures.
Perhaps it's common abroad, but this is the first time of coming across such.
It would be more durable than wallpapers and very cheap in cost.
Yo are very right, it is durable, cheaper and even very easy to change (change colour. change design, e.t.c)

Its actually NOT a Wallpaper at all.
It has no "paper" in it at all.

*What you have is a wall painted with a certain colour (grey in the picture you showed).
*Then you have a "textured Roller" with Design Patterns on it
*Then you have another Roller which will be impregnated with paint of a different colour to the Wall
*As you roll the "textured" Roller, it rubs on the paint of the Roller behind it and that will smear the "Design" on the front Roller with paint.
*The front Roller now Rolls over your wall and impregnates it with the "painted Design" on it.

That way, it transfers its the design texture onto the Wall and makes it look like a Wallpaper.

#Just trying to explain the process of how it works, you may already know this.

If one has a very large expanse of wall, one can use it to give it some attractive designs, instead of leaving it blank.

In some of the areas of Lagos where the construction trade is booming a lot (Lekki, Ikorodu, Lagos Ibadan axis), I would have thought they should set up some kind of technical college there. (Building technology, plumbing, welding and metal works, Masonry works)
You are right!
What we have is a FAILURE IN GOVERNANCE!
This has gone on for so long that it seemingly have become part-and-parcel of our daily routine.

There are millions of Youths who are jobless not because they are lazy, but because GOVERNMENT has failed them in putting-in-pace, STRUCTURES required for them to become independent or self employed.

And the most annoying part is that When you ask the Govt to pay "stipends" to jobless Youths who are willing to work, they tell us there is NO MONEY.........yet we are all aware of How much people like Fayose, Obanikoro, Olisah Metuh, Dezziani, FFK, Dasuki, Badeh, Saraki, Jonathan, Ngozi Iwealah, Tinubu, e.t.c have looted from this same economy!

The most tragic part is that it is the same YOUTHS who have been deprived of their future, who carry placards and support their oppressors!
What an irony!
shocked shocked

If our Youths are really angry, they should direct their anger properly.......at POLITICIANS, especially from their Local Govt, to their Senators, who loot their LGA allocations and who appropriate humongous salary and entitlements to themselves.

Just look-up how much Governors,LGA Chairmen and Senators have appropriated to themselves as "Severance pay and life-benefits" ...and you will weep for Nigeria.

Please let us try not to generalise i.e the Yoruba mentioned below. I think its dangerous, whilst you have a good point in that the guys of today want to get rich quick without learning the ropes. It cannot be attributed to one particular tribe/religion/race etc.
Aaahh, l am sure you know l am Yoruba? Right? Infact, Ijebu, right? grin grin grin

So, you know l wont "wantonly say anything" to disparage my tribe!

If my post was about Igbo now, dem for don call me tribalist and biggot, abi? undecided undecided

Now, talking about generalisations:
One, two or three examples does not make a generalisation but if for example, dem talk about "spare parts seller" and l mention Igbo, would you call that a "generalisation"...... despite that there are Yorubas and even Hausas that sell spare parts?

My point is: when you have a "very large majority" doing something, you can STATISTICALLY GENERALISE your statement to infer them.

The crux of my post is that "l want to speak to our Yoruba Youths" so that they can take the path of honour by being gainfully employed, learning a craft/trade when "higher" education is not their line...... instead of becoming "Agbero, omo-Onile, Orita-Junction Cult members,Armed robbers and Kidnappers".

It does not mean only Yorubas do these things, its just that l am more concerned about my Yoruba brothers......and l want then to change their ways because if they do, the Yoruba nation is to benefit.

I want to "remove the log from my own eyes first, before being in a position to point at the log in other people's eyes".
This is WHY WE ARE YORUBAS..... We dont spare our own just because of our tribal affiliation.

Notwithstanding, l understand your position and thank you for your observation.

I am increasingly fond of your input and perspective on a number of discussions here

I recall my very first Nairaland customer... I dont even know his moniker till date and didnt ask out of respect for his privacy.
This happened at a time i had Zero Nairaland reputation, Zero Nairaland history, No Nairaland portfolio. I hope you get to read this Mr Peter.

Its always nice to give people a chance to prove their worth, of course not without the necessary precautions and due diligence. And if you decline, do so politely @msogunro did good.
Thanks for your sentiments.

Somehow-somehow, "l think" l have a knack for smelling "inherently good people" from a distance (l said "inherently".... because at times, they may not even be in my 'good books' at that moment). You are one of those people that l decided, will be a good and reliable supplier/contractor

The funniest part of your comment is that you dont even know l have bought electrical lightings from you in the past.... and will be doing so too, again, this year once my current build gets to that level. grin grin

I want to confirm that statement of yours about "respecting customer's privacy".

Its always my own personal policy, to give others a "level playing field", especially up-starters.
(Some will flunk it..... while others like you and me will take it with both hands and make a success of it.)

Maybe it has to do with my own "life experiences" as my first opportunity/break in life came because someone was not insisting on "track record or some powerful recommendation" otherwise l wont be whom l am today.

For that reason, l am sworn to do unto others, as have been done to me: "Open Arms" with an "Open mind" to everyone, at first instance.

I will be asking for "Updated price List" very soon...... when we have forgotten about this discussion. undecided undecided

Cheers,
